The Difference Between Free-Range, Cage-Free, and Pasture-Raised Eggs | Eater
"The grocery chain's cage-free eggs are singled out as being particularly well-regarded, making them a reliable supermarket option for shoppers prioritizing animal-welfare labels." - Brette Warshaw
How the Black Panther Party Started Free Breakfast for Children | Eater
"Major grocery chains operating in Black neighborhoods initially refused to support the Party’s survival programs, often choosing to discard excess food rather than donate it; that refusal became a public issue and a rallying point, as organizers informed communities about those choices and pressured businesses to change. Community backlash and the strategic use of food as leverage eventually pushed many of those stores to provide larger donations needed as the free breakfast and other feeding programs expanded." - Billy X Jennings
Kroger Offers ‘Thank You Bonus’ Following Criticism for Ending Hero Pay | Eater
"This grocery chain chose to continue the $2/hour hazard-pay increase for employees rather than ending it, positioning itself in contrast to competitors that rolled the premium back." - Jaya Saxena
How Does America’s Food Supply Chain Work? | Eater
"A national grocery chain that announced thousands of open positions (about 2,000) to help meet increased in‑store demand and staffing needs as supermarkets respond to pandemic‑driven shopping shifts." - Lisa Held
Wish we had more places like Safeway still man, it's like walking back in time and it's way more affordable than big groceries like Walmart...love this place it's a staple

Low vegetables and fruit, small area. I went in to get grapefruits, but they didn't have any. Nostalgia, I feel like I am a kid and my family is broke again. I bought the clearance items. Apples. They need to really update this area of grocery. The meat in the back looks odd.

Preston's will always be the best place to get fresh meat even if it's on a crazy street corner

Prices were much higher than I expected. It appears as though they are exploiting the position of being the only grocery store within walking distance to some of the most financially challenged people in our city.
Must not be owned by the same person(s) from when I lived nearby in the 90s.

Watch out for their frozen food area... 😔 went today and came home for ice cream while putting groceries away.. wasn't worth the time or gas to drive back.

This chicken was ordered for our family reunion and it was overcooked and salty. It tasted as though the meat was fried in old grease! Not happy at all! It was not like what we tasted weeks before. Very disappointed.

Yelp
The Safeway location at Shelby st. and Raymond is sad. They never open when they say they open the store always has a word smell like a meat shop that needs cleaned. Very disappointed

Yelp
Safeway is a clean store and the staff are very professionals and friendly. The store is competitive and parking is never a issue.

Yelp
I am finally writing a review and giving this place a 3 stars. It's always a bit pricey as compared to the "big box" locations, however they usually have what you need in a pinch and the service is friendly enough. Photos to come as I realized I am the only review so far!

Yelp
The store is being remodeled I believe? My biggest issue with this store which is a major issue is I have been there multiple times and they have different shades of green on there meat and it is rotten in the case. They have out of date products on the shelves and seem rundown.
