Back in Pendleton for a short visit, had fun so nice to see Pendleton it looks pert-near the same as when we moved in the 80's. My 50th HS reunion is next year, boy howdy do I feel old. Class of 76 rocks.🤠 Or should I say bucks. 🤣

Edited: This is the salad dressing that I purchased from the regular shelf on June 18th. Clearly the management of this Safeway is not concerned about food safety either. Selling food more than a month after expiration…. Requiring paying customers to go to the customer service desk and stand in line and ask permission to use the restroom after having spent $100 on groceries is ridiculous. If they that concerned about someone using the bathroom they should print the code to the bathroom on the receipt. This isn’t Portland with homeless camps next door. Do better Safeway management

The lady working behind the customer service desk at 3:00 on july 13 was rude , short tempered and mean. She complained how she was doing the job of 4 people. She literally had the worst attitude and talked down to my granddaughter. Please do better or find another job

Female at customer service desk, awful attitude and does not belong in customer service. This is not the first time I've observed or experienced her rudeness. Her tone, body language, smart elic words. Unnecessary, I thought maybe having a bad day before. Well, she's just miserable person. 2:55pm July 5th 2025

Grocery pick up requires a $30 min. If you use coupons to bring that amount below the $30, it is not considered a purchase amount and you will be charged an additional fee. The discounts I used were points from past purchases. They made their money and still stuck me with fees. Terrible policy. Customer service at this location is even worse. Never again. Why pay more to be treated badly.

Safeway in La Grande, Ore. I had to wait over an hour for the courtesy counter to send someone out to empty the can return machines. Unacceptable! And when I inquired if someone could come out and empty them, I was lied to and told that they only had 1 person to do that, and SHE was on lunch. 45 minutes later a young man came and emptied them. But wait, there's more. When I went back to turn my can slip in, the person at the counter was out to lunch, and wouldn't be back for... You guessed it, a half hour. I was told I couldn't go through a checkout line . I would just have to wait. While waiting a young lady asked if she could help me, I explained what I was waiting for. She invited me to her check stand, I got my money and was on my way ONE AND A HALF HOURS ! DO BETTER .

This particular store is staffed by friendly people, but the bathroom is filthy. I also hate the digital coupon system. Please for the love of god stop making me use an app so you can track me and sell my information. It’s annoying to reinstall and uninstall every time I shop here. I know it’s a corporate thing, but it makes me avoid shopping here unless I have no other choice. Today I tried to take advantage of the deal pictured here. I got to the register, and was told the sale was on “value packs”. As you can see, there were no value packs available. Stuff like this is misleading and very annoying. I was told I could bring it back to have it repackaged, but they should have just given me the sale price without the extra hassle.

So... Screw you! i had to check out at the "Empty" Starbucks line because NO None of this really bothers me ....But then I remember this is the Starbucks that Accepts FOOD STAMPS for a Latte' legally in OREGON because it is in a Safeway Now I am just disgusted! I Just hope our new President does something to save Oregon!

Rude employees. Managers rude, Dena's rude. Didn't take a Doordash order from here they'll hate you. Shame, because it's a nice and clean store. The employees HATE Doordash apparently.

The employees seem respectful but the management seems rude or indifferent. My brother shops at this store. The other day my brother was shopping there and had a flat tire. Apparently they've cut down all their trees and there is no shade in their lot. He purchased ice to put on top of his groceries and left his groceries in the stores care while he walked home to get his car and a spare tire for his pickup. It was pushing 100 degrees outside. While changing his tire he suffered a heart attack and ended up being flown to Boise. Late that night my sister in law mentioned his groceries. My brother said he bought ice to put in his groceries to keep them cool, apparently Safeway offered to store his groceries in their cooler. While still in Boise we call the Safeway store and told them my brother was going to be okay and to thank the employee who called 911 for him. We are going to be in Boise for a couple days so we said his daughter would stop by to pick up his groceries. They claimed he hadn't paid for his groceries yet and they have been put back on the shelf. Their explanation made no sense. Why would they let him go out to his vehicle with his groceries and then come back into the store purchase ice to put on his groceries to keep them cool and they offered to store them for him in their cooler. The manager I talk to you was short and indifferent. My brother is still a little confused about the incident. My sister-in-law says she already shops there because they are always overcharging and doing other shady things, but my brother likes the employees. We are currently looking for his receipt it may be in his truck. I did not appreciate the way this manager spoke to me, and their explanation about my brother's groceries doesn't make sense. Although the groceries are gone my brother is still here and we are grateful for that, and we are grateful to the employee who called 911. The rude and and indifferent behavior of the manager I spoke on the phone left me feeling they errrored and didn't want to say so. Rude management with poor customer service is my opinion of La Grandes Safeway. To bad because I'm a frequent Safeway and Albertsons shopper

We were here on 7/17 as we were heading to our campground. The store has plenty of RV parking so no need to worry. It also has a gas station. Here's my suggestions, which we did not do, purchase groceries first THEN pump gas. We did the reverse and when finished shopping, we found that we had 20 cents off gas. Every penny would have helped. The store is clean, the vegetables look fresh and healthy, items are stocked. The discounts throw me off and not all employees understand them but the cashier was able to tell me actual prices (granted, I took different items in case one was not on special). I would definitely stop here again if I was pass through town.

The best pharmacy in town! The staff is friendly while being professional, prescriptions are a breeze. If you select their auto fill option the pharmacy does everything but deliver your meds to your home. I get a text a prescription is ready and pick it up, that's it! Variety is nice in the grocery store, produce is fresh, and there is a friendly air to the place. Thumbs up Safeway!

I ordered a Cake for my daughters birthday, went to get it and they told me they didn't have it!! So I got a different cake that was already made, and ordered the same cake for her actual birthday! Went to get it, and the colors are wrong, they didn't write on it like I had ordered, the lady was very rude and snappy like she was going out of her way to help me. (It is her job right?) it's not the Cake I ordered, looks like they just thru something up there to get me out of there. It's just wow!! I will NEVER order from Safeway again!! Oh, and after I got my messed up cake, I went to the deli to get my kids something, and the lady straight started talkin shit to another employee about the face mask I was wearing right in front of me! Like seriously?? How immature can you people get!! I'm so sick of Safeway! Ugh. This deserves 0 start, but it made me give 1! Stupid ass shit.

Without shopping here more often, I don't think I can really give this store a 4 or 5 star review. However, for you out of towners, here's what to know -- This is a modern, clean "Lifestyle format" Safeway. This means it has faux wood flooring, a full deli and bakery, a Starbucks kiosk (full menu available 6a-7p, 7 days a week), floral, and normal grocery aisles. When I stopped in, I snagged some hot Chinese food and a few smiles. Like most Safeway stores, this one is open early until late, even on holidays, but not quite 24/7. With Albertsons closing their aging La Grande location, this is the only full supermarket in town as far as I know. There is a Walmart* Supercenter and a Grocery Outlet near the highway 82 (center) exit. I suppose that probably also contributed to Albertsons closure.

Little place with big customer service. They have a gas station and they are full service. All gas stations in Oregon are full service. My husband and I didn't know if we had to tip so we didn't. When you enter the store it is really quiet. I am from Miami, Florida and of course I thought it was nice having quiet all around. Everything is properly labeled and organized. My husband and I stopped to get some food. We got some delicious fruits and got a pacific clam chowder, roastery chicken and fried chicken. The taste was good and the seasoning was perfect. The customer service was polite. The store was clean. They have a little area next to the Starbucks to eat, but they also have outside seating. There are cashiers to check you out at the same time they have self check out.

I Luv shopping @ Safeway!!! They have the Best & I mean Best "Blueberry Scones" around. The Bakery & Deli r by far the best thing going. I luv there fresh made soups !!! Chicken is Great & their Pies....

You really need to check your receipt BEFORE you leave the store. I have been over charged 3 of my last 4 visits and once it was $17.43 over the advertised prices. The floors are dirty and the cashiers are rude.

My dame picks up some chicken for dinner here again. Chicken breasts. I've always been a breast man. But if they are my dinner menu I like em cooked, not barely beyond raw. Second time, there won't be a third. I just eat something else and feed em to my dogs after I cook them. I don't give them raw food either, less it's unwelcome guests. The deli needs someone who knows how to supervise the slappos doing the food prep. Buying their chicken is like gambling in Vegas. Maybe it's cooked ... maybe it isn't.

While looking for coffee on the drive through southern Oregon, we managed to stop at the Safeway which has a Starbucks inside of it. It certainly looks nice enough, the staff is as friendly as you can expect from small mountain towns, and the bathrooms are relatively clean. I gotta wonder though, considering how small the town is, do the locals really have a lot of choices?

I have shopped at this Safeway for eight years. I worked there for a summer. I enjoyed the experience thoroughly until I returned to town this year. The customer service has gone downhill drastically. I specifically avoid the checkout line of one woman and have found myself almost as poorly treated with every other checker. They complain nonstop about their days, rarely smile, and spend the majority of time talking with other checkers rather than the customers. If it weren't for the gas discount, we would probably stop shopping here entirely and go to Grocery Outlet instead, where we receive lovely customer service almost without fail. This is just sad to me, as I have loved Safeway for many years and it's unfortunate to see the way the checkers treat their customers.

So I love this Safeway! Great prices on items I use all the time! My only complaint is the people they use for the self-checkout are extreamly rude! One lady acted like we were the grinch and today the young lady said my 'kid' was setting off the machine in a tone that was not so pleasent. My advise work on your customer service skills please.

As a wife of a Safeway employee I know that as a corporation they pride themselves on costumer service-smiling, greeting every costumer, etc. I am shocked at how unfriendly and down right rude a good portion of their employees are. Most of them do not smile or greet costumers. After being there numerous times I have found that besides a couple of checkers, the gas attendants and the manager most of the employees seem to need to be reoriented on Safeway's costumer service policies. Now I understand why that poor manager is there 7 days a week and is constantly on the move.
