Saffron

The ambience was nice, but the food was a huge disappointment. Mentioned in the Michelin guide, but we failed to understand why. The sushi was dry and falling apart and while the polpo with white beans was quite tasty, it too was dry and the dish was impossible to finish without some kind of dip or sauce. The waiter was unattractive and never came to ask if we wanted another glass of wine why we ate most of the main course with empty glasses (and as mentioned above, the food was dry and would have benefited from an extra drink). Only undisputed good dish was the zucchini flowers. We will not be coming back.

Service was nice, we were able to sit outside and they understood english, which was important because our italian is at best very poor 😉 Food was OK, but they used somehow (for us) unknown ingredients for their sushi. But all the way a good alternative to classical italian food which has a market for about felt 99% in Arezzo.

Partiamo dai lati positivi: locale arredato con gusto. Qualità del pesce alta. Passando al negativo: Servizio distratto, lento e a tratti scortese. Sono stata in questo ristorante 3 volte (un po’ invitata e un po’ di mia iniziativa) perchè mi piace il sushi, tuttavia al di là del pesce ottimo i rolls non sono affatto buoni: grossi e che si sfanno tra le bacchette, riso secondo me sbagliato e saporito (e contrasta con il ripieno). La vera nota dolente è che si spendono molti soldi per la cena che poi si fa e, stando al di fuori, le sedie sono scomode! ma soprattutto ho ordinato un piatto di crudo “LA CRUDITÀ” e solo al rientro a casa riguardando il menù mi sono resa conto che MANCAVANO LE OSTRICHE, non ci è stato detto, noi presi dalla cena non ce ne siamo accorti NON sono state sostituite e non è stata modificato il prezzo (50€!) . Grossa caduta di stile, quindi per me 1 stella è già troppo.

Sono stata più volte a cena in questo ristorante, l'ultima volta la settimana scorsa. Cibo di ottima qualità servito alla perfezione, crudo di pesce veramente buono accompagnato da un ottimo servizio al tavolo. È sicuramente un locale di alto livello ma non esclusivo. Lo consiglio molto per una buona cena di coppia ma anche in compagnia. D'estate molto bello anche per i tavoli all'esterno che si trovano in una bellissima piazza Aretina.

Ormai il Saffron è una certezza…. La cruditè migliore che abbia mai mangiato con ampia varietà di pesce e cosa molto importante, di estrema qualità. Il locale è molto bello, curato nei minimi dettagli…. C’è l’imbarazzo della scelta, fra antipasti, primi, secondi, e roll….. tuto eccellente!!
