Karina’s Is Bringing Mexican Seafood to La Jolla - Eater San Diego
"Saffron Thai, a long-running Thai eatery, expanded to La Jolla in 2018 but closed in October. It was founded in 1985 on India Street by chef and cookbook author Su-Mei Yu and has been operated by the Karina’s Group since 2016. The location in La Jolla is set to become Karina’s Cantina, a Mexican restaurant." - Candice Woo
This place is awesome for fast cheap eats. Conveniently order at the counter. Gracious and attentive servers bring your food. The chicken is roasted to perfection with flavorful crispy skin. The Pad Thai is presented wrapped in a thin layer of egg omelet. A true delight for sight, smell and taste. Perhaps some reviewers say it is "not authentic". All I know is that my lunch was simple and sweet satisfaction. Well done!

This place is just...not good. I've tried it twice, getting fried rice and curry and they were both just bad. Super bland, tofu has a dry consistency, curry is thin. I want to like this place because I love the idea of it but it's just not good. Won't be going back for a third try.

Service was lacking, food was wrong (was charged for food I didn't get), and the food I did get was pretty bland. Won't be returning.

So disappointed! Really?!, HEAT LAMP!
Limp, visually unappealing. Small portions.
Taste is dull.

The worst food I have ever eaten, the heat lamp hot pocket looking egg rolls are absolutely awful...
