This Award-Winning Detroit Chef Is Embracing His Palestinian Identity | Eater Detroit

"A community-focused kitchen initiative started in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that paused takeout service at Anani’s restaurant to feed Detroiters facing food insecurity. Launched as a direct relief effort from the chef’s McDougall-Hunt neighborhood operation, the program has been a notable example of his ongoing social-justice and community-engagement work." - Serena Maria Daniels

Amazing food and great service they were really helpful about the menu and the lamb was out of this world it didn't have a gamey taste the flavors were amazing. Nothing overpowered anything else. It was a nice dining experience and we will be coming back. Thank you for the great experience.

This is a wonderful Indian restaurant. Their drunk selection is large and cocktails are well made. The Jalapeno Popper Naan was delicious and paired well with both the Beef and Vegetable Samosas. The Chicken Tikka Masala was cream based and one of the best in Omaha. The Salmon Madrasi was a little one-note but still delicious. The Sweet Chili Chicken almost tasted like a sweet and sour chicken. There is a lot on the menu so I can't wait to go back!

Saffron Indian Kitchen in Omaha is an absolute delight! The Tikka Korma was perfectly spiced with a rich, flavorful depth, while the vegetable samosas and garlic naan were spot on. Beyond the incredible food, the warm lighting and cozy atmosphere created such a soft, romantic setting—perfect for a memorable date night. 🌙✨

Their happy hour is unmatched. Mango lassi is delicious and bigger than other restaurants in the area but also a bit expensive. The lunch special with choice of 2 entrees is also a great deal and is way more foods than it looks at first glance. I don’t even know what the house soup is but it’s really good.

We went on a Sunday night and there was no need for a reservation. The servings were large. We got a jalapeno cheese naan that wasn't on the website. It had a green sauce that was complimentary and excellent. The chicken biryani came in a black pot with a pastry covering the top. It was huge! There was enough to serve at least four people. It also had a complementary cucumber yogurt dish. The bill came to ~$30 and we had plenty to take home. The service was excellent. We tipped 30%. Downside - The menu items are different from what is on their website and descriptions are not accurate.

I ordered chicken masala for take out and it was the worst chicken masala i’ve ever had. The sauce was pale and the chicken was in pieces that included a lot of fat and tendons.I expected clean chicken cuts. i’m very disappointed because I’ve been craving indian food for a while and finally got it and it was not good at all.

The food was delicious! My significant other and I ate here for the first time and we were highly impressed. The service was great, though I wish we were attended a little more, but it was busy so we understood. The food overall was delicious and the atmosphere was great! We will definitely be eating here again.

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating a special anniversary at Saffron, and I couldn't be more impressed. It was a party in their private room for 40 people. Sonam, Rocky, and Sagar, and their entire team, made the occasion unforgettable. From the flawless arrangements to the exceptional food, everything was perfect. We had a few vegetarians in our party, and a couple of people had dietary preferences, and the team at Saffron went above and beyond to meet their dietary requirements. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting both the quality of the meal and the beautiful atmosphere. The service was outstanding, and the overall experience exceeded all our expectations. Saffron truly provided the ideal setting for such a memorable event. I’m already looking forward to more celebrations at this wonderful restaurant. Thank you for making it all so special!
