Where to Enjoy a Glass of Chardonnay This Summer in New York | Eater

"Art house films and a rooftop glass of wine? That’s a perfect pairing. This restored cultural hub in the heart of the Hamptons is more than a movie theater — it’s a nonprofit with a mission to preserve cinema history and foster community. The Green Room, its third-floor bar and rooftop terrace, offers panoramic views of the historic town and bay, making it a destination all on its own. Whether you’re catching a foreign film or a cult classic, a chilled glass of Harken adds a nice plot twist (and goes well with a handful of salted chips, too)." - Julia Gómez Kramer

18 New York Area Spots to Sip on Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"Catch a movie and then grab a glass of smooth, buttery Harken at Sag Harbor’s historic cinema. The theater has been around for over a century — originally a vaudeville and burlesque theater when it opened in the 1890s — and serves as a community landmark in Sag Harbor’s historic district. Head up to the Green Room bar on the third floor or the François Truffaut Terrace on the roof and cheers to International Chardonnay Day with a view." - Julia Gómez Kramer

I wasn’t expecting how much I would love the environment of this place! The seats are ok but certainly not bad! The boxed water peaked my interest and was fun to see! The popcorn smell was a great add when I walked in the door. I loved how when I walked in the lights dimmed. Very relaxing.

Perfect place to go on a rainy Saturday night! Loved the post showing Q&A event this weekend. Space is retro and modern, well designed. The 3rd floor bar was cozy and fabulous - great cocktails, great bartender.

Sag Harbor Cinema is at the heart of the Hamptons arts scene. As well as being an iconic landmark, it’s far more than a movie theater – it’s where culture, connection, and creativity come together through world-class programming and events that enrich our community and our children. We love going whenever we can – it brings a little slice of the international arts scene to our doorstep and helps this city girl feel culturally anchored. Highly recommend.

Just saw The Secret Agent here, amazing movie and theater! The concessions were great and it was very clean.

WARNING: This theater sets volumes at usage levels. 90 minutes after exiting the theater, my ears are still ringing. Absolute torture during the movie as well. Sad that they feel the need to assault their audience.

Google
They were really unfriendly about bringing our newborn to their rooftop bar and said “no babies allowed”. Do not recommend. It’s a shame we already own a bunch of merch from them… time for a bonfire

Yelp
The backbone of cinema on the East End? Yes. The backbone of SAG Harbor itself? Some may say... I believe that there is something not only culturally important about this establishment, but magical. Has it It's been a movie/entertainment site for 110+ years? Yes. It didn't burn down five times -- only once, and... well we'll talk about that later. Every film I've seen there - which is either simply the best handpicked, curated new releases, or quintessential film programs filled with expertly divined cinema classics - has been a magical movie experience I'll never forget. It's cinema houses like this, not art house - not just mainstream AMC megaplexes - Sag Harbor Cinema is the reason that I got into film in the first place. It reminds me of a Denver Colorado cinema where I went to see my first movie... "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." I'll never forget that. I've always looked for a similar feel and found it here. Not to mention the cocktails and incredible staff at the green room terrace bar on top. A great place to grab a drink before or after a show. Tel Deb T.J. sent ya. See you there, T.J. Miller The oyg

Yelp
It was fantastic to spend a few hours at the Sag Harbor Cinema on a rainy day. In fact the theater was destroyed by a terrible fire several few years ago, but has since been completely rebuilt. Modern building with small viewing rooms on 3 floors (elevator available) with a nostalgic feel, friendly knowledgeable staff, comfy seating, and indie movie offerings. We saw "Touch" there, a beautiful film that takes place in London, Tokyo and Iceland. Unique, romantic and heartwarming. The Sag Harbor Cinema has an upstairs rooftop bar, plus snacks/merch for sale in the downstairs lobby. It's a nonprofit org with various community events as well. We reserved our tickets online but they do accommodate walk-ins. A real find for movie buffs.

Yelp
This new renovated version of the Sag Harbor Cinema is a moviegoer's fantasy dream. They continue to show quality art movies, and the ambience and cleanliness of the theaters could not be nicer. Every three months or so they come up with an amazing art movie that they show which we can never find anywhere else. If you're a serious movie goer and you get out to the Hamptons, you already know about this movie theater and you love it. But others should find about how cool this place is also.

Yelp
The number 1 "Golden Rule" of professional bartending is to be friendly and sociable to ensure that the customers are at ease and comfortable. Well, if that's the Golden Rule, then Debora Mathews Lee ( the Irish bartender at the Green Room, is the anti-christ! In all of my years of going to bars, performing live music etc, have I ever encountered a more unprofessional, toxic, misguided, mean spirited psychopath, then Debora Lee. For reasons I simply do not comprehend, this woman has opening communicated for the better part of a year, her dislike of me, which in it's self, is wildly unprofessional particularly in a client facing capacity. All of this stems from performing at the Green Room a year ago, where Deborah torchured myself & my guitarist, by asking us to turn it down repeatedly, to the point of no amplification. And this was an "Acoustic gig" no less. At the close I turned to her, and constructively said that "you need to decide what you want to be. A live music venue or a movie theatre, but please figure it out" A year later, and a years worth of incredibly bad behavior on Deborah's behalf, (I've returned all of 6 times to support other musician in their efforts, despite her), this infant of a woman, still can't get past holding a grudge. Fast forward to last night, I asked a friend of mine to join me in supporting another local musician, with whom I'd spoken to that day and we'd talked about me sitting in on a song or two. I walk in, gear in hand, Deborah sees me, I greet my friend, and he and I ordered drinks and sat at the end of the bar for the better part of 2 hours enjoying ourselves and listening to music. At the close, as we are about to leave, Deborah, moves in, in this menacing and hostile way with her body language and shouts "So are you going to be on your best behavior Paul?" Confused and quite frankly stunned by her aggressive demeanor, I responded with "what on Earth are you talking about"? What kind of bartender/manager, would think they were within their rights to openly, publicly harass a client, at the last moment of the night, who wasn't drunk or disorderly, wasn't loud or obnoxious, wasn't carrying in in any way other than to peacefully and quietly enjoy my friends company and conversation, and go on the attack! All establishments, (bars, clubs, restaurants, etc.) reserve the right to refuse service to any customer that choose, particularly if that customer represents a threat to other customers or is basically obnoxious, but that simply was not the case. Not one to back down, especially from insane public conduct intended to humiliate for personal reasons, I defended myself stating that Deborah was WAY out of line, was clueless as to proper bartender etiquette, ( not to mention committing aggravated assault - Class C misdemeanor in most states), and that if the owners or board of trustees ever got wind of her outrageous, aggressive and harassing conduct towards a local resident, a local business man, a fellow musician, for PERSONAL reasons, they'd give her the boot in a New York minute! It might have been almost plausible, had this personal vendetta been announced as I walked in, but to wait the entire night, allow us to buy drinks, talk for hours and then as we attempt to leave, launch into this infantile attack, defied all of the remaining patrons sensibilities as they watched in disbelief. Needless to say if Deborah Lee was prepared to level this kind of insane conduct to a bar goer who was minding their own business, I can only imagine that this conduct is the tip of the iceberg as to how she's treated others. STEER CLEAR of the Green Room and especially Deborah Mathews Lee from Ireland and spend your money in an establishment that appreciates your business and doesn't employ a psychopath!
