"Continuing through the very centre of Reykjavik – the walk will likely be a slow one, with so many bright buildings to photograph and unique boutiques to dive into – our next stop is at the eastern end of the harbour. The Saga Museum provides an immersive take on Icelandic history. Recreating key moments in the country’s history through live performances and some incredible sets, the museum is a fun and quirky way to discover a little more about this island nation’s varied past." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

"I went to the Saga Museum—I’m a very big kid, so the things I see are meant for younger people. It’s like a wax museum and it tells the sagas of Iceland—the stories and the histories of Iceland are called 'sagas.'"

Saga Museum is an incredible experience! The sculptures are amazingly detailed, and the audio guide offers multiple language options, making the storytelling truly immersive. At the end, you get to watch how the sculptures are made and even dress up in Viking costumes for some fun photos. A must-visit for anyone interested in Viking history!

This had a lot of information on the Vikings and the era. The displays were amazing and so life like. The audio tapes had a lot more detail in them than the display boards. There's a room where you can dress up like a viking and take photos. There's a cool giftshop if you want to buy some gifts, and a cafe if you're hungry.

Creepily realistic waxwork figures that help tell the history of Iceland as you walk around the displays listening to an radio guide. Guide takes about 30 ish minutes then afterwards you can watch a film in the main area and dress up as vikings! The whole experience is gun, interesting and doesn't go on for too long. Worth it if you have a couple of hours spare.

The place and the exhibition are cool, and the figures are perfectly made, full with details and look rea; however I think the place can have a little bit more, it is beautiful but I would love to see more variety of stuff

I was looking for a Viking museum for my son. At first glance, and it looking atother pictures, this feels like a tourist trap. I can assure you, it is not . While most of what’s in the exhibits are replicas and interpretations, the painstaking detail that they took to build it makes it worth it. To the right of the cashiers desk on the opposite side of the wall of the gift shop, there is a video that shows you how they built the exhibits, with a surprising guest sitting in the middle of the chairs. Kids can try on various hats and armor with very accurate, re-created, weapons, helmets, etc. The exhibit itself takes about an hour. It is gruesome, so don’t take kids under eight years old. Great place to visit on the way to the nearby Maritime Museum, whale Museum, or volcano experience.

This place is amazing. A wonderful introduction to the fascinating history of Iceland presented in what is honestly the most impressive series of wax figures I have ever seen. Just incredible.

Staff were great and informative. The experience was interesting getting to learn about the history of the Icelandic settlers and vikings. Plus you can try on some clothing and armour at the end.
