If I could give a zero I would. My daughter is a student at UNR and in January of 2025 she signed a lease with Saga. In her lease she stated that she would need a parking spot. In July of 2025 Saga changed the parking to a goggle form that they sent out without notifying incoming residents of the change. They made it first come first serve without out honoring the students who had it stated they required parking in their lease that they signed with Saga. My daughter is on a waiting list now. When she goes in to check the waiting list, the staff is exceptional rude and tell her there are no changes and they can't help her. They don't even bother bringing the list up to see if there are any changes. This statement just automatically comes out of their mouths. I decided to step in and was working with a manager who was kind and trying to help my daughter and her roommate get a parking spot. Unfortunately she left Saga and the new manager is unwillingly to help students with parking spots. As a matter of fact the free parking on the top level that residents with no parking spots were parking now requires you to go into the office every other day to get a two day pass to park. Again residents were not notified of this change. I have an idea. Why don't you make the parking on the top level residents only and assign them out and let the guests park in the street instead of the residents. The new manager says she follows the rules. Why don't you try making a few rules that help your residents that have signed leases instead of making it even harder for them to live there. After reading the reviews and what my daughter has experienced since living at Saga, I would NOT RECCOMMEND living there. My daughter and her roommate will not be renewing their lease and have signed with a new apartment complex for next year.

Parents/Students beware. Apartment complexes like Saga Reno may market themselves as 'student housing', but be very aware they are not exclusively student housing and will lease to anyone due to Fair Housing laws. They do not share this fact openly on websites, marketing materials, social media, on-site tours nor in the lease agreement your young adult student may research and sign. It is only upon move in that you may find yourself in a situation that you have been placed by a leasing agent in an apartment unit with grown adult non-students. Non-students can just renew their lease while students sign 11-month leases. This creates a situation where non- student residents don't leave and start to consume the whole apartment and shared space as their own. Violations issued to these residents by management accomplish nothing. Our son was so excited after we toured Saga Reno to sign a lease and got a great deal only to find out he had been placed on 'moving day' in an apartment with three grown adult men (two over the age of 40) all non students. The apartment was in absolutely filthy condition including rotten food, gnats, cigarettes and pet waste. On-site property management was absolutely unhelpful telling us there were no other rooms available. The problem was ours and the solution was ours too as all of this was 'roomate living' and our 18 year old son just needed to adapt. We finally found a solution only after sending a letter with 25 pictures of apartment conditions to Property Owner Landmark Properties based out of Georgia. The solution will cost us thousands but we will do what we have to until this lease ends. The website, marketing and social media claims fostering successful student living and resources. Nothing our son has faced has fostered success nor the college lifestyle. Beware, and ask all the questions. It never occurred to ask if they leased to non-students or if our son would be living with 40 year old men in a filthy apartment.

I called the leasing office recently with a few questions and was lucky enough to speak with Madelyn. She was so helpful and kind. She took the time to walk me through everything I needed and made the whole process way less stressful. You can tell she genuinely cares. Honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had with apartment staff! Madelyn is amazing and the office is lucky to have her!

If you’re considering Saga Reno Apartments, brace yourself—my experience has been far from smooth. I’m sharing this to help others make an informed choice. Maintenance: A Game of Incompletes Repairs here feel like an unfinished project. A broken door handle in my unit was never fully replaced, and maintenance often arrives only to leave mid-task, claiming they need to retrieve a missing part. The entry door to Building One remained broken since I moved in back in 2022, exposing residents to potential safety risks until it was finally repaired within the past month. Promises are made, but the fixes rarely follow. Office Communication: Hollow and Inconsistent Reaching out to the office is a shot in the dark. You’ll likely receive a generic response that feels automated. In some cases, there’s no reply at all. Occasionally, they’ll say your concern is being “escalated,” yet you never hear back. Weeks pass, and the issue remains unresolved. Billing: Frustrating and Unfair The financial side is no better. In my experience the same check has been processed more than once, and the blame somehow falls on you. Instead of correcting their mistake, they tack on additional fees, turning their own error into your burden. Parking: Solid The only positive in the sea of negatives is the amount of parking available. They have a wide selection of spaces and even tandem spots where you can park 2 cars. They are very good about assigning you a spot near your building. Overall Impression: Living at Saga Reno has been a serious test of patience. While the location might be convenient and the aesthetics appealing at first glance, the subpar service and breakdowns in communication make it difficult to recommend. If dependability and responsive management matter to you, look elsewhere.

Saga Reno is honestly one of the best student housing spots I’ve seen. It’s got tons of amenities like a gym and a pool, and the location is super convenient. The staff is awesome—especially Robert from maintenance. He’s always on top of things and makes sure everything looks great around the property. Thanks to Robert! 😊

This place is so beautiful but more importantly when there is an issue the maintenance crew is on it! The maintenance manager Robert does a fine job on making sure the residents are taken care of completely and efficiently! I’ve dealt with poor maintenance crews before but not here! Thanks Robert we appreciate you!!!

This place is just your typical student housing—nothing fancy, and the amenities are fine. The staff was usually helpful, and I didn’t have any major issues while living there. However, here is what happened when it was time to get my security deposit back. They refunded part of it, but then charged me for some unreasonable things (plus a few I didn’t mind). - Couch replacement. The couch had NO tears, NO scratches—just normal wear and tear from at least 3 years of use of us being there plus the years it was there beforehand. Yet, they decided they should keep money from me and my roommates for that. - A $350 carpet replacement for a stain that wasn’t even mine. This is where they really showed that they are just trying to get the money they can. They claimed the stain looked bad and was "probably from a dog." Well, funny enough, neither I nor my roommates ever had a pet. The previous tenant did, though. I told them that and even sent pictures proving the stain was already there before I moved in. They ignored my email. I called them, and they said I’d be refunded. Fast forward 4 months. No check. I emailed again. Suddenly, they tell me they can't return the money because there's “no written record” of them saying I’d get it back (like it's my fault they don't reply to their emails). It's worth saying that I had to give the highest deposit out of all my roommates because I am international, and even though my room was ALWAYS the one that was cleaned most regularly none of my roommates got charged for carpet replacement. Could it be because their deposits were way lower than $350? Lastly I need to mention that before I moved out, I even had someone from the leasing office inspect my room to make sure I take care of the things I need to. They said nothing about the stain and assured me I wouldn’t be charged. I never bother on leaving negative reviews as you can see from my profile, but when you are trying to grab $350 from a fresh grad just cause you wanna replace your carpet people do need to be aware.

Google
Giving a One Star is being generous for this place. This will be my second year living here and I already regret it. First when we moved in back in August 2021 my bathroom was moldy and disgusting which the maintenance took two weeks to take care of. Which I had to take call in multiple times, in which they’re typical response is “we’ll take care of it soon.” Currently we’re dealing with the aftermath of a flooding of the whole apartment from THEIR faulty toilets and has been a nightmare to deal with. It’s been more than two weeks since it’s happened, and all they have done is have 15 fans in our place and that’s it. Once again we ask multiple times what is next and we’re told it’ll be “taken care of soon.” Good luck trying to call in the leasing office or even receiving a call back as more than likely it’ll be an answering machine that is no help. Would never recommend living here and save your money for something better

Yelp
Summit has been an exceptional apartment complex and I am more than happy to have called it my home for this year at UNR. If it weren't for graduating at the end of this semester, I would have happily renewed my lease again. To start off, the apartments are beautiful; equipped with wood floors, granite counter tops, and great floor plans. The convenient location and safety of the complex were some of the main reasons why I had moved out of my other apartment complex and into Summit. They have a good staff which is great for safety factors. I had an emergency maintenance issue and their "on call" maintenance that was there to resolve the problem within 5 mins. Aside from the safety, the location is awesome! It is walking distance to UNR and there is a shuttle. The management is extremely helpful and it is clear that they want all of their residents to be happy with where they live. I know people usually post their negative experiences rather than positive, but I only have great things to say about Summit and my time at UNR. They've given me free food at their resident events, what more could I ask for? Update: Move-out went well. I was dinged for a few things I broke. I knew it was coming though.

Yelp
Bad management, never pick up phones, I have lived here 2 years and I wish I didn't. They will fine you out the wazoo and the only time they respond promptly is when you need to file a noise complaint or report something that they can charge money for. Cheap appliances, cheap furnishing (that they will charge hundreds of dollars in damages for normal use) and the place is filthy. First floor reeks of animal urine, upper floors are covered in bird excrement. They spent weeks threatening fines for patio furniture only for the pressure washing crew to basically sprinkle the building leaving said messes behind (after 2 weeks for what was said to be a 2 day job). Trash service will refuse to take out garbage and leave comment cards that have checkboxes for valid reasons not to pick up- checkboxes will be ignored and trash service will write in their own excuses for leaving the hallways overflowing with garbage. They will do their best not to honor the free parking or other signon deals and will try and mislead you into accepting more expensive parking spots. Elevators were broken for months until a few days before safety inspectors came to the property. The Amazon lockers have gone down for a few days at a time with nobody able to say when they would be back up. TLDR: Take your money and sanity elsewhere. I have seen high school bake sales with better management and Mr. Krabs would be less vicious for a dime.

Yelp
Lived here for a year when it was still YOUnion and got scammed by Saga on my way out. My roommate had an unreported cat that did significant damage to the furniture. I emailed management informing them of the situation, and called multiple times when I didn't hear anything back. Imagine my surprise when I get a $700 DOLLAR extra bill as a struggling student working two jobs to make ends meet; even worse, NO OTHER ROOMMATES GOT THIS BILL. Because I reported the cat (even though I specified that it was NOT mine and I gave them the name of his owner), I somehow got stuck with the entire bill. Additionally, after I got this bill I called them and emailed them relentlessly only to get crickets in response. Until I got a legal letter threatening to TAKE ME TO COURT over a cat damage bill that wasn't even my cat. I am now a professional paralegal and feel I can confidently say they had no case or evidence against me. However, I didn't have this knowledge at the time and I was terrified of what a court case would do to my life. They take advantage of young students and squeeze them for every dollar they're worth - it doesn't matter if they actually did anything or not. Absolute scum of the earth business practices - taking advantage of college students and using the court system to bully them out of every penny they have.

Yelp
This apartment complex has screwed me over in so many ways it's unbelievable. My room had mold -- actual mold -- and when the leasing team "checked it out," they claimed they didn't find anything. Meanwhile, I literally tested positive for mold poisoning. And did they do anything about it? Of course not. Then there's the move-out disaster. They charged me for things I didn't even do. I turned in my keys on the 18th, and somehow, they kept charging me for electricity until the 2nd--even though I wasn't living there anymore. So yeah, I was basically paying for my roommates' electricity after I was gone. It was a total scam. The leasing office is an absolute joke. Every time I tried to get answers, they just argued with me. My friend and I moved out on the same day, at the same time, and yet somehow, I was hit with all these ridiculous charges--cleaning fees, move-out fees, damage fees--even though I left that room in way better condition than I found it. And let's not forget the time they forced me out of my room with one day's notice so they could supposedly redo my floors. Guess what? They didn't even do them. If you're thinking about moving here, don't. Or have a lawyer on deck.

Charlee Reed was able to answer all my questions with a quick response time, anytime i need help i ask for her and she's available every time to assist me

Yelp
DONT MOVE TO THE SAGA‼ I currently am a resident and this place is infested with rats( I have video evidence)the when trying to consult the front office about this issue they had an exterminator visit our apartment who claimed to have found nothing but then the same night we found multiple mouse/rats in our apartment the front office is also very rude and act like my peers and I having rats in our unit is our PERSONAL problem. The is extremely inconvenient when me pay a hefty lump sum to live in this apartment and we get treated terribly. I am extremely disappointed and I recommend you never move to the saga‼ we also asked the front for cooperates number and there were uncooperative and said"they don't have a number" Sarah and Taylor are very rude and are very uncooperative and unhelpful. If someone from the saga happens to see this I can be reached at @fergusondonavon@outlook.com

Lisa R.

Yelp
Do not recommend! Avoid! Absolutely horrendous managment. Have had two kids live here. Can confirm their ridiculous lease pressures and threats that "someone else wants the apartment where you are living now and if you don't sign a lease today then you will have to move out when your lease ends." Horrible company. And the apartment my son moved into was absolutely filthy when we arrived. Disgusting carpet, black ceilings, broken light fixtures, broken bathroom racks, etc. I mean really gross. And they will do nothing to make good for their mistakes. In the years we've been here, it gets worse and worse. My son will not renew his lease for next year. There are many other options for student apartments around campus.

Yelp
Worst Property, if I can give a -4 star I would they are liars and only want you to sign a lease to legally have you tied . Gave me false information for a move -in addendum and told me that I still needed to pay for the lease!!! Horrible service and not student friendly.
google avatar

Coho S.

Yelp
Avoid this complex. Under new ownership. I've had 3 kids stay here over the years and it keeps getting worse. The new Saga name also has new management. They don't tell you a parking spot is $100 per month per space! You also are required to setup "simple bills" which is an outside agency that charges a tacked on fee for your power bill plus a significant setup fee. Not optional, but required. Random tacked on fees are the norm and the pool is always out of service. The worst part is they start asking you to renew for the following year about 2 weeks after you move in. It is a first come first served system so if you already are in Saga and want to stay out for the next year, you have to sign up 11 months early or they kick you out. You get forced out and can't live there for 2 weeks while you move to another unit. We are leaving there permanently. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs!!!!

Yelp
Living here has been a nightmare. It's definitely a you get what you pay for situation as it's the cheaper option here near campus. To start the staff is so unhelpful and I feel like 90% of the time they are lost on what's going on. From the day I moved in I was given no information on the process or what to be doing as I moved in mid year. From that day, everything just started to get worse. I was never given a TV and when I reached out about it, I had maintenance come to set it up when he told me he would be right back because he forgot the remote he did not come back. I continue to call and they assured me that someone would be out to fix it, but it didn't happen for weeks and I eventually just got annoyed and gave up. Speaking of maintenance stuff will break constantly, and they will never be in a hurry to fix it. When they do come to fix it 90% of the time they will tell you nothing's wrong or they will just not be very nice. I was also not put on the email list so I was not ever aware that maintenance was coming as I would have a grown man entering my apartment and knocking on my door early in the morning without my knowledge. Again, I was told by the staff in the office that this would be fixed, but it continued to take weeks. moving onto parking I was given free parking from the lease. I took over but they failed to ever put it in the system after they told me I was all set and about two months after living here. I got a call that they were going to be towing my car because my sticker wasn't matched with a parking spot I then went straight to the office because I was very worried and it was such an easy fix that they had just forgot to do in the beginning. Lastly, the pool has been locked up, which is truly unfortunate as we pay for this amenity, but it has been closed. We can't even use the chairs or the hot tub during this time. I could truly go on and on, but all I have to say is do not waste your money here you are better off, renting a house and having a landlord who will actually get things done.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the management/ownership of the property. They operate on a very bait-and-switch system.

Chris B.

Yelp
Would not recommend this place for your college student. Apartment was not cleaned before move in day, not a single electrical outlet works in the kitchen, gaps in the window frames where you can see insulation and management just says it's because the apartment is "settling", bathroom drains plugged up, carpet disgustingly filthy (we had to shampoo the carpet ourselves and the water was absolutely disgusting black, mold in the clothes washer and tons of hair and grime in the seal, window screens extremely bent, patio has food smeared all over the cement and border wall and the patio door opens outwards so you can't use anything for additional safety locking measures on the first floor. Very disappointed in this place for the $$$ they make from these kids.

Yelp
WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX IN RENO If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you are thinking of moving here DONT, if you live here DONT RENEW. They are so inconsiderate of your time and never have the decency to respond. They will charge you random fees at their convenience and when you try to ask what you are being charged for, you get no response and then an email threatening to send you to collections. Like really???? do better. changing the complex name from younion to saga won't help if your actions don't improve LOL
google avatar

Jazzy O.

Yelp
This place is an abosolute shitshow. The outside of the complex makes you think you'll be living in a luxurious complex. You'd be wrong. Everything falls apart, and maintenance is slow to fix anything. They leave a horrible mess as well. I had mud tracked through my apartment with no remorse. Deborah is incredibly rude and unresponsive to any complaints that don't fit her personal needs. Not to mention, the apartments don't get cleaned when you move in. Just don't live here.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I just moved in to a 5 bedroom 5 bathroom apartment yesterday with two girls I know and two we haven't met yet. As soon as we walked up to find our apartment we found a pile of trash waiting for us outside of our door. When we walked in the apartment was disgusting. None of the bedrooms nor the common area had been cleaned at all, not even swept. Me and my roomates have been trying to contact management about this and keep hearing "we'll give you a call back" so we are currently living in someone else's filth until it's convenient for management.

Leialoha E.

Yelp
Horrible management and office team. Haven't had hot water for days now have submitted 3+ maintenance request, roommate went down to the office physically to ask them about it and they claim they don't see anything on their side? Pool closures for most of the summer for 'maintenance'. Can't promise you a parking spot for the following leasing year but will still charge you for it. Can't tell you a move in date until the day OF and only have 24 hours to move in so guess you just gotta miss class and call out of work for them because they're so unprepared in every single aspect.

Katherine L.

Yelp
A one star rating is generous. We moved my daughter into a 2x2 this week. The apartment was likely NEVER cleaned. There is a thick layer of grease/dirt on every inch of the kitchen. Her bedroom reeks of cigarette smoke and the carpet is hideous. We spend over 8 hours cleaning, and the apartment is still gross. The roommate matching is a joke. her matched roommate is a slob, and there are drug paraphernalia on the balcony. I made multiple trips to the office, but the college kids working there have no ability to help with anything and are trained very well not to give out management contact information. I paid for the first months rent and parking, and yet I have received an invoice for parking. In addition, they do not yet have the keys to her parking area available and may not be until next week. This has to be one of the most mismanaged pathetic student housing ever.

Janice A.

Yelp
I am really disappointed in Younion not returning phone calls. I've left two messages in the last 3 weeks inquiring about my daughter's outrageous electricity bill charges (almost $300 for 3 months!) with no call back. They add on a "vacant service fee" every single month which makes no sense when the apartment is rented out and between school and work my daughter isn't at her apartment much to justify these outrageous electricity bills. Her friends that live at The Highlands pay a max of $30-40 per month for electricity, which I would think is appropriate but $100 a month?!!!! It would be nice if management would call me back and answer my questions! Definitely not renewing her lease for the next school year. And if you look at the charges for Dec-Jan, my daughter was back home for winter break and not even at the apartment and still got charged $69.97 + $25...almost $95! SMH ‍

Yelp
Wish I could give ZERO stars. NO COVID REGULATIONS!!!! Since my past review, I still have not received maintenance help OR THE KEYS TO MY APARTMENT!!!! I have lived here for over 6 months now and my roommates and I still need keys. Maintenance workers walked in without knocking or previous contact and no explanation as to why, without fulfilling needed work and ignoring my privacy as I was in a towel and freaked out. Wish I could say better but living here has been a true disappointment and has made my second year in college a shit show.

Yelp
This place sucks. When I first moved in my room was covered in rat/hamster shit. And when I complained they didn't care. Eventually I had someone come in and clean the carpet, but the shit should not have been there in the first place. There was also two massive holes in my wall which I covered with decorations but still? And my tv fell off the wall. Ive asked for a mail key time and time again never got one. And if you place a maintenance request they might get back to you in a couple weeks if your lucky. But the maintenance guys are very nice once they do come. But the people in the office are the worst. The only reason I moved here was because the republic apartments were ugly and it felt like I was living in a jail facility. But the people at the republic are so nice and understanding and they know how to get shit done over there. Idk don't move here it's a waste save a couple hundred bucks and move to the republic.

Jeremy R.

Yelp
I would recommend as of October 2023 NOT to move in to Saga Reno. Prices and utilities are really expensive, the buildings are always dirty with trash on the floor and theres always a lot of noisy construction going on. Also if I could describe the staff here it's that they always do the bare minimum and not much else. I had a food item delivered to the front office and the front office was complacent with letting it sit there for days without spending 10 seconds to look at the nametag and send me a text. The office also closes really early (6 pm) which sucks if you end up having a problem late afternoon and have late classes like I do. The walk to campus is also much further than you think (25+ mins to the closest building where classes are held) so it is recommended that you pay $100+ per month for a parking spot and drive to school if you do choose to live here (now you need to pay for another parking pass). The price advertised for saga does not reflect at all what you actually end up paying when you account for ulitities and parking (both of which have expensive rates).

Linnea S.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS THE WORST. DONT LIVE HERE. There is no way that any apartment complex could treat it's residents worse. Staff is terrible and is trying to scam you multiple times a year with fees they can't even specify. Appliances are broken when you move in, apartment isn't cleaned before move in. Everyone working at the front desk is RUDE and literally does not care about your needs. Worst place EVER please do yourself a favor and don't live here!!!!!!!! Deserves ZERO stars smh

Katelyn D.

Yelp
I had bad experiences in the past with student housing and I can say I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Moving in they had to upgrade me due to lack of space to the top floor with a down town view, which is more expensive then I was wanting to pay. I didn't know what I was doing so I signed the lease. The manager was very helpful and was willing to work with me to take away those fees very quickly. This was the first place that I have lived since moving to Reno that felt like a home. The front office was always very kind and smiling. Management was easy to talk to. Maintenance was always quick to come and fix things for us. Overall great place. If it weren't for me buying a house recently I definitely would have renewed my lease!

Yelp
I have tried to wait out the Younion and my opinions for a month now and give them benefit of the doubt, but I am truly so upset with this place. They constantly put charges on my account that make no sense and my rent is now near $900 when my roommates is $700 and she has the same premium room, etc. They have still not given me mail keys yet and I have constantly asked every week. Terrible at responding and their workers are not trained on what to do when asked a question. They also put us into a unit with a "balcony premium" when we specifically said we cannot pay the fee, and they are still trying to charge only me out of the 4 other roommates I have. I hope they can fix these issues, but so far I have had no response or help.

Yelp
I arrived with broken drawers and cabinets. Obnoxious neighbors to where we leave noise complaints and nothing has changed. I also arrived with I'm assuming human sperm on the mattress pad like dude isn't that a biohazard for one and two I don't want my first experience living on my own to see nut on my bed. Also our dishwasher broke multiple times after their maintenance is the one to fix it.

Yelp
Everything is broken, lived here two years and the pool was closed half the time. Staff never answers the phone when you call, I had a random security guy walk into my apartment room without knocking and then when we asked what he was doing he just left without a word. Overpriced and parking is always hard to find because people who don't live here park in the free spaces and security does nothing about it. Walls are also paper thin so if anyone around you is being loud there's nothing you can do.

Yelp
Maintenance never come, they don't clean you carpets in between residents if you move in before the designated august move in date. Parking is a complete disaster at this place. Numbers are faded on the ground, so you can't really tell where you can/cannot park. Also they give you a sticker that only sticks on the outside. But don't put it on the outside of your car it might get stolen. And if that happens your car will get towed, without notice!! Which by the way is considered predatory towing and is ILLEGAL but they somehow get away with it. I had to pay $250 cause my permit had slid down in between my dash and windshield, even though you could still see the orange colored sticker partially, they towed me saying "they couldn't see all of it." I tried talking to management about the situation and got no where. If I had the time/money I'd sue them. But I'd rather just GTFO of here! Don't move here! Place is a joke, and now under new management so maybe there's hope in the future.

Yelp
Management is rude and clueless, I put an application in for a lease. Two weeks later I kept checking the website for an update, none to be found. When I went to the leasing office with questions about the lease they were reluctant to answer any of my questions. I got treated like absolute garbage. I wanted to live here very badly for over a year and when the time finally came I was willing to give them the gouging $740 a month + $20 for 5th floor and $40 for parking. After the experience at the leasing office I went and talked to everyone I knew that lives there and they said the same thing. Management is a joke, young, blonde girl at the front desk treats everyone like garbage. Glad they never accepted my lease, $800+ a month in my pocket.

Yelp
I wish I could give it zero stars. The front office workers for the most part are absolutely horrible. So incredibly rude and unwilling to help. I got booted when I had a valid parking pass, charges 600 just to have someone take over my lease for a month, and the pool was closed for just about the entire summer part of our leases. The blonde front worker rolled her eyes at me when I asked how to make a repair request and asked me if it was something I can just try fixing myself. If you want a quality apartment, go literally anywhere else. Over priced and the room you tour is significantly bigger than the one you get. Literal trash

Yelp
I like my apartment but the management here is aids to deal with. Anytime you ask them for anything they act like it's such a big chore and you get a pretentious stare from them. Welcome to student living at UNR. It's been 3 weeks and I don't have a fob that will lock and unlock my room door yet!! Wth!

Yelp
there was many many issues when I first moved in two years ago. however, since they changed management, it has been fantastic. they went above and beyond for me and my needs when I wanted to transfer last fall and took extra care with my renewal for this upcoming year 24/25. They really listened to their tenants and lowered the rates when they received so many complaints. As well added so many amenities that other college housing JUST DO NOT OFFER! it's insane! And I feel spoiled here :))) The distance from campus is also unbeatable. I want to be totally honest in my review as well and say that the place isn't super quiet and can get very dirty at times. However when reading these reviews I urge you to remember that this is a COLLEGE HOUSING apartment that is filled with freshly adult students who are living on their own for the first time And don't really know how to act yet. Parents...you should understand what your signing up for, and don't blame Saga for these issues as I have seen the craziness first hand that comes from the young residents, and the property management can't control them. (I had someone pee in my trash once ) They are doing their best to keep up with it ! just report it when you can and they will get to it. They LISTEN to your concerns and Maintenance is insanely fast and reliable. Lastly sometimes it's an issue with the cleaning company and not the people on site so please be nice to them, some of them live here too and understand just how you feel. That being said, my experience here as been amazing and fun and I have met so many new people ! Its not as bad as everyone is claiming in these reviews. My experience was definitely better than most of friends that live in other college housing. Thank you Saga for 3 years !

Yelp
This apartment complex is great except for the fact that the front office workers are very rude and act like they hate their job. Like other student living places packages go to the front office and the workers will give you your package. Well I received an email from the company I ordered from saying my package was delivered, well come to find out the front office cannot even find it. The office claims it's not in their system or in the package room even though they signed off on it from UPS!!! I'm so fed up with the workers here who treat the residents like shit! The office literally lost my package which puts me out! All this place cares about is getting your money and that's it!

Yelp
The Summit at Reno-- Sterling Summit, when I signed my lease-- is fine. I'm not renewing my lease for next year, but that's mostly because I want a firepit and a grill. They've fixed a lot of the problems that I had in the first few months, and I really enjoy the new office compared to the previous iteration. Summit suffers from the fact that everyone had horror stories in their first few months (my room was unpainted on move-in, for example, and when I complained they told me they would just paint it for the next tenant... even though I still had 11 months left on my lease!), so that really flavors the view of the new management. I've been satisfied with all of my interactions with the new management since the switchover at the end of December. I live in what's probably the most expensive 4x4. We have three premiums for an added $30 (courtyard, location, top floor), all because I made the mistake of not having a preference. Unless you really don't care, state a preference! I don't think I was tricked, but just put in that apartment for that reason. That extra $360 doesn't make the biggest deal to my family, but I do know it does for some people. If you're bringing a car, sign up for parking ASAP or you'll park in Siberia (on the far end of Building 3, which I don't live in) like I do currently. Trash service sounds lit when leasing but is a pain in the ass compared to just having a trash chute on your floor. If you like to throw sick ragers, don't rent at Summit. If you like a really quiet apartment to study, don't rent at Summit. Summit's policies re: noise complaints involve hefty fines that don't seem to be consistently given. The parties security shuts down and fines seem to be on random basis opposed to a certain level of noise and rowdiness. In conclusion, if you're looking at the Republic/Highlands/Summit/Identity, they're all basically the same. Summit is getting better, so it's worth being considered.

Yelp
DO NOT MOVE HERE. They will lie to you and take advantage of the fact you're a student. They will try to enforce portions of the lease that violate state laws and will enter your apartment without notice whenever they please. When you call to have issues fixed you will be met with incompetent staff and an even more incompetent management. These people have no idea what they're doing and YOU will be the one that suffers because of it. Spare yourself the trouble and live somewhere else.

Yelp
Everyday I regret signing a lease here. The Younion office and management team is made up of the most unprofessional and inconsiderate people you will ever meet. Watch out for Julie (blonde with dark eyebrows) and Mateo (short) they're the worst. The place is disgusting and even with coronavirus, the elevator has still had the same swipe of yellow mustard that it's had all year because they never clean! They have employed creepy people for trash and clean up that frequently tried to get into inappropriate conversations with female residents. I moved into an apartment and lived in the bedroom where someone died a few months prior and was unaware of this until our new roommate told us the gruesome story. I switched rooms with my roommate because she was so torn up about the circumstances. At the beginning of the year our lock broke on our door and everyone's fobs were deactivated. The younion failed to replace the fobs or the locks for months and I finally had to send an email to maintenance begging for them to fix it for our safety. The maintenance man and Julie made us wait for 45 minutes in the hallway when we got locked out. When we went to the office, Mateo said "I don't have any solutions do you?" to fix the fobs or lock. What??? It's your job to get it fixed. How am I expected to know how to do your job! Four college aged girls lived in an unlocked apartment for months because the younion didn't give a shit. I feared for my safety at this apartment, I questioned the integrity of the staff that is supposed to be taking care of us, and I paid close to $800 a month to be treated like this. I could go on forever about how horrible this apartment is. Just do yourself a favor and don't sign a lease here!

Yelp
I haven't even moved into to the younion yet and I am already having issues. My roommates and I requested to have the cheapest apartment available since we are all paying for our own rent. Extra charges keep getting tacked on randomly. Everything we requested and has not been what we got. They advertise it as this great place with affordable prices around $650. I'm now well above $800 on my lease and I have not even moved In yet. They gave us a room on the top floor which costs $20 more a month per person. We asked if we could have a different apartment because we did not agree to this and no one can afford it. The woman basically said no and that we have to pay it. They were so rude and the workers literally don't know anything. Don't advertise affordable living if you're going to jack the prices up on struggling college students literally just trying to put themselves through school, especially during a pandemic. Save yourself the hassle and DONT sign a lease with the younion.

Yelp
DO NOT MOVE HERE! This forum does not allow for the amount of bad experiences, issues and time-wasted beginning in Week 1 of our new lease in August 2021. Starting with ridiculous trash fees (by no means should you incorrectly tie a garbage bag) to virtually zero parking options (don't bother getting on a parking wait list - it's never going to happen). As others have posted, the utility charges are criminal. We pay more for NV energy utilities at the Younion than we do for our single family home. Plus, they hit you for a 'service' fee of $25 per month (per resident) if you don't have someone else in the appt to agree and incur all resident monthly charges (whereby you work out payment among the other residents in the unit). Customer service is pathetic. The students who work the front desk don't know anything and it appears that this was a management strategy to defer issues from quickly being resolved. Also, if you happen to have an issue with another resident in your appartment (in our case involved drugs/alcohol and threatening behavior), it took 6 months to resolve the issue with Younion upper management. We had extremely high hopes in the Younion, but quickly discovered that it was a terrible decision. Just remember, they are running a business to make $ and now they're under new management (aka 'SAGA'). For us, it was a nightmare. Good luck.

Yelp
This place is very nice inside but the blonde lady at the front desk is rude and unwilling to help. I came in and had a lot of questions and she rudely told me to hold on and said "you can wait" when there was no one else even in the building. Even when it's as simple as getting my packages she has a attitude and shuts you down. She is incredibly rude every time I see her and never has anything nice to say. She is a disgrace to the Younion and I'm surprised management still has her hired. She truly is the reason I'm moving out and not signing my next lease. You have ruined student living for all of us and made it very difficult. Highly recommend avoiding her at all costs!

Pam J.

Yelp
DO NOT DO IT - I wish I wouldn't have let my daughter try to handle this on her own. YOU ARE PAYING FOR 12 MONTHS EVEN THOUGH LEASE IS FOR 11 months - total ripoff and scam on all extra charges. Put her in a 5th floor apartment with an upcharge which we didn't agree to, then they wouldn't change it. No choice but to sign because it was too late to get her somewhere else. Please, please do yourself a favor and do not rent here. I will be looking into legal action.

Yelp
The new management is great! Khymyanna and Deborah have turned the place completely around in a great way. They have onsite security on the weekends. The clubhouse is like no other! And its right across the street from UNR...

Yelp
This apartment complex is awful. They just recently changed their name to Younion to run away from their bad reputation. Well this complex didn't get any better. If you are a college student ACTUALLY trying to get good grades, then I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere to live. If not, then be prepared to listen to drunk kids playing beer die, screaming, and peeing on the buildings every day. Trash, and dog shit all over the grounds, I feel bad for anyone who wants to live here. The leasing office doesn't care, nor does security. Its absolutely disgusting and totally disrespectful... total waste of my money here

Yelp
They don't keep up the facilities on a regular basis, let people park in your already-expensive reserved spot. Other than the top two managers, there is no sympathy for problems you might have. They required you to buy a trash service that only does its job 50% of the time, and sometimes they will try to fine you because they cant lift the trash bag or because it has a slight drip. What a hassle, and that's $40 for the whole apartment per month. The only saving grace of this place is the hard working team who handles maintenance requests to homes. Other than that, they care more about calling the police (literally three police cars outside my window) for an apartment who was playing light music at midnight on Saturday. How about cleaning the floors? Fixing the perenially-broken and dirty elevators? Parking enforecement is an absolute joke and has no power to actually kick people out of your spot. Property manager is trying hard to bring the community together with events, but there are drawbacks with certain employees... whose indifference or outright rudeness makes the Younion a hostile, unwelcoming environment to call "your home."

Yelp
DO NOT LIVE HERE!! On the surface this place seems nice, but these apartments are managed so poorly and their priorities are completely wrong. The management staff is rude and unhelpful and only cares about taking your money, not helping you find solutions to the problem. I felt attacked and disrespected by the management staff when I went in to ask a simple question about my lease. During this devastating time they have been completely unreasonable and have refused to let anyone out of their leases, but closed the office so no one can ask for help or address issues with management. The people who work there could care less about the students.

Yelp
Under my google plus account i have a public photo album called summit at reno with videos of the constant noise. All of these videos were sent to the office and security was called it never helped. It can be found under Audrrinna Navarrete or Quarisa B. Marissa C. was my roommate and never had problems because we all dealt with the issues including cleaning the apartment which she never did but that's a whole other story. ***Taylor S. or whatever with the 5 star review works there, and they are not real wood floors we've asked multiple times**** Read my google review for more information. If I could give five negative stars I would. Do not ever live here! EVER! The residents are constantly noisy. They have parties at all hours. The security has gotten worse as they don't patrol anymore. The trash sometimes doesn't get picked up for our entire floor. We were threatened by a neighbor and had to file two police reports. The officers suggested that we talk to our managers because it's a liability and they said they couldn't do anything about it unless he moved willingly by himself. We have had none of the amenities that we were promised. The free printer is always out of ink. The pool music is super loud and is on all hours. The people in the office pretend like they are listening and then do nothing. Balconies have fallen apart and we were told that the deterioration on the inside of the balcony was not a safety concern. People are constantly smoking weed. We've called the cops more often than we should because the security and the office only give empty threats. Our trashcans were peed in by someone who was drunk. We went to the office to talk about it and they said they would have someone pick it up. It's been out in the hallway for two months. Fire alarms go off constantly. Emergency services cannot get through the gates without help. We've had to go let them in multiple times (officers, firetrucks, etc.). The gates are constantly broken. People park in free parking when they pay for parking spaces because free parking is closer to the buildings. Many people weren't even placed in payed parking that was designed for their building (I live in building two and have a space at building one meaning I have to go through two separate gates just to get to my car). People constantly prop doors open to let people into our "secure" buildings for parties. We called about the same frat boys parties that happen every day of the week at all hours playing beer pong in our courtyard and nothing has been done. We had to call the cops about public nudity at one of the apartment parties because they were running around in just towels and peeing in the bushes in our courtyard. No threat that the office gives is serious. They don't punish anyone. They don't fine anyone. They are doing NOTHING. NEVER EVER LIVE HERE THE LIST GOES ON FOREVER!!!!!!

Joy C.

Yelp
So impressed with the Younion. The staff has been so helpful and always replies quickly to emails and chats! Also love the location. Courtyard, study rooms, computer rooms, gym and pool! Thank you so much Younion!

Yelp
HORRIBLE !!! Do not sign a lease here. This year at Summit has been very frustrating - from the moment we were given the ok to move in things were not complete in the apartment they were slapped up and put together very poorly, water leaks, cracks, work order after work order that took multiple phone calls to even get something small taken care of, I could go on and on. Finally you changed management and then things got a bit better but there were issues with alarms going off for 3 days and management was not receptive to answering phone calls. I finally reached out to corporate as the amount of rent that we were paying was not justified by the service being provided. Be warned this NOT where you want your student to live!!!! look at the other recent reviews
