21 Best Restaurants in Puerto Rico | Condé Nast Traveler

"Chef Mario Pagán, one of Puerto Rico's top chefs and a former Next Iron Chef competitor, pulls out all the stops at Sage in the O:live hotel , easily the best steakhouse in San Juan. Start strong with the silky Angus beef carpaccio and black truffle-topped burrata, followed by the creamy lobster tagliatelle and bone marrow, served with chunks of crusty sourdough. For the main event, split the succulent Angus tomahawk or the dry-aged porterhouse, charred to perfection, as it should be." - Kris Fordham

This place is beautiful and the ambiance is amazing for an intimate date or special occasion. (Mine was neither, but soooo glad I found this place by accident tonight anyhow.) The food was the best I've eaten in PR so far. And, the service was super friendly too. Lasagna was the star of the show, but the Rucola Burrata appetizer was also fantastic. They sear a side of the lasagna; that statement alone on the menu nearly convinced me to order it, plus they use veal. When my server recommended it vs the other 2 options I considered, my decision was easily made. I'm so glad. It was the best lasagna I've ever eaten. It was also right-sized, not the typical, American 3,000 calorie-sized portion. I savored every bite, but with an appetizer, bread, and the prospect of a delicious dessert, it was the perfect amount. My last comment / suggestion: This is a really nice place, especially if eating in the ground floor dining room; come wearing something appropriate...

This Mario pagan's restaurant last year was an experience. Mario Pagan's restaurant right now is an epitome of negligence, overpriced and sub par quality. Out of the four dishes, the octopus was the only thing that tasted good. The ribeye was terrible. The most expensive tequila old fashioned costed a pretty penny at $40 a piece and I didn't catch a buzz. I repeat, I didn't catch a buzz! Our server was informed about the poor quality of steak and the overpriced drinks. No action was taken. Poor service! Disappointing experience!

We stayed at the hotel here and spent our first night having dinner at Sage. It exceeded all expectations. Our dining experience felt very intimate and the servers were friendly and attentive. The bone marrow about blew our minds. It will forever be one of my top 5 favorite dishes of my life.

Great upscale restaurant experience with fantastic service. Valet parking is $22, but there’s an hourly self-park lot around the corner behind the restaurant that’s easy enough. I would have liked to see the main courses paired with a side - as of now, they’re served a la carte with sides extra.

Although we made a reservation when we arrived there was no record of it but the guys were kind enough to put a table together for us (4) despite the place being pretty limited. Everything was great tasting and with an excellent presentation although the sizes were pretty small, so if you like large plates this is not your place but if you want a cozy, gourmet food restaurant, Sage is a pretty good option.

Well, first of all I will like to say my food was great. Here’s why the one star. We came to Condado for a vacation, we drove by This place and loved the name. We went in to eat yesterday April 22 2022. As soon as we walked in the employees ran away. They judge us by our vacation clothes. I’m talking, laughing in our face, bickering with each other about us. They offended and treated us very badly. My food came out great! My friends in the other hand, she ordered a Steak medium rare. That steak was over well done. She described it to me as dog food. I tried it, it was disgusting. We informed our waiter, Gabriel. He listened and walked away. He didn’t offer to fix it, nothing. Just walked away, so I decided to be extremely petty about this situation. I treated them extremely kindly and tipped this horrible disrespectful waiter that made us feel unwelcomed and out of place. Kill them with kindness I say. Horrible place. -100/10. Will NOT RECOMMEND. Horrible service, no attention at all to the costumer.
