Our stay at Sage Lodge was incredible! The view is UNREAL and the rooms are luxurious. The food at the restaurant was amazing too, and the staff were fantastic and they made the whole trip even better. And the activities at Sage Lodge are great too, we especially enjoyed our Yellowstone National Park tour! Overall, we had a great stay at Sage Lodge and I'd definitely come back.

Easily the best massage I’ve ever had—and the entire Sage Lodge Spa experience was flawless from start to finish. The moment you arrive, you're greeted by warm, professional staff who instantly make you feel at ease. They walked me through everything without rushing and made sure I had everything I needed—from a plush robe and sandals to a glass of infused water and a cozy seat in the relaxation lounge. The facilities are stunning. The locker rooms are spotless and beautifully designed, with rainfall showers, luxe amenities, and everything you could possibly need to unwind. The co-ed relaxation room has massive windows looking out over Paradise Valley—soaking in the view with a warm neck wrap before my massage was pure bliss. There’s also a steam room that smells like eucalyptus heaven and outdoor hot tubs with unbeatable mountain views. As for the massage—it was incredible. My therapist was highly skilled, intuitive, and genuinely caring. They checked in just enough to make sure the pressure was right but let me fully relax into the experience. I’ve had a lot of massages, but this one set a new bar. I left feeling like I had a new body. If you’re looking for a true escape, Sage Lodge Spa delivers in every way. I can’t wait to go back.

We stayed at the Sage Lodge as part of a 20-person group and hosted a private event. We had an outstanding stay and would love to come back.||LOCATION: Stunning location in the heart of Paradise Valley about 30 minutes from the north entrance of Yellowstone. There are sweeping views of the Montana landscape in every direction and it’s a very different (preferred) vibe from Big Sky. It’s about a one-hour drive from Bozeman airport. ||SERVICE: Warm and attentive service across the board but not always consistent. I had few calls to the front desk which went unanswered in the evenings and mornings. Michelle, our group’s main contact, was exceptional. She was available via text and proactively checked in during our stay. Chris at the front desk —friendly, helpful, and always available with a smile.||ROOMS: The rooms and the resort in general are a blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Our room was spacious and quiet with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains – high speed Wifi, excellent air conditioning and convenient USB ports throughout. ||RESTAURANTS: Breakfast is available from 7 am, which was too late for us as we departed for Yellowstone early each day. The lodge should consider offering some grab-and-go options as I’m guessing a lot of guests depart early for Yellowstone. ||I hosted a private event for 20 guests, and everything went seamlessly. The venue was beautiful, the staff coordinated each part smoothly. Thank you to Michelle and Elle who worked behind the scenes and during the event to make it happen.

Most amazing staff at any hotel I’ve ever been to! The service and staff was impeccable. Above and beyond especially since we had our dog, Milo. He was well cared for and loved by all! The rooms are so cute and the views are breathtaking. Can’t give it enough stars!

My husband and I stayed at Sage Lodge for four nights on a mini-moon, directly following our wedding at a nearby venue. We'd wanted to stay at Sage for years, but were waiting for a special occasion, since it is not cheap! We had such a great time that we actually stayed one extra night (and are SO appreciative of Sage's staff helping us make it happen on short notice AND letting us stay in our original room)! Everything is pretty much four to five stars across the board, except we do think the basic King rooms are a bit overpriced for the layout and size. However, the room views and location are truly, truly stunning. You feel like you're in a Bob Ross painting, and you can watch herons, ducks, and ospreys from your bed, if you have a ground-floor room facing Emigrant Peak and the pond. Sage is also a small, intimate hotel, which adds to the retreat-like feeling atmosphere. The food at Sage is also wonderful, although we found the food at the Fireside Room (both breakfast and dinner) to be more enjoyable and a better value than our one meal at the Grill. The filet was phenomenal. Shout-out to Nolan at breakfast for being a true gem. The restaurant manager at dinner is also great (we are blanking on his name, but he's originally from Chicago and took great care of us). We did not sign up for any of the excursions or activities, but took advantage of the outdoor hot tub every night, and recommend walking the Sage Trails. Sage is a great base for exploring Livingston and Paradise Valley, but is also not too far a drive from the northern entrance of Yellowstone. We went into the Park three times while staying at Sage. The staff were all wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The lodge features lots of gorgeous art from local artists and nearby galleries. We'd certainly stay again!

Google
Service was surprisingly disappointing. Don’t waste your money. It’s worth going to Livingston to eat. Went two nights in a row. Mainly because it was close to our lodging. The first night was average but overpriced. The second night We were just completely ignored when waiting to be seated. No one really seemed to care when we said something so we just left. Clearly it’s overpriced. I don’t think anyone would disagree. The food is average at best. ignored us and literally took the people behind us. Not even a simple apology. We have been to the Yellowstone area approximately seven times. We bring a lot of money. After the last trip, we decided to go to Alaska. Banff is next. The last trip to Yellowstone we noticed the locals were not as friendly. Tourism cuts both ways. Be careful what you ask for.

Sage Lodge – An Unforgettable Family Experience Our stay at Sage Lodge in Montana was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, relaxed, and well taken care of. Accommodations & Setting: Our room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. We stayed on the second floor, which we highly recommend for the elevated views and added privacy. The scenery surrounding the lodge is breathtaking—mountains, open skies, and nature at its finest. The on-site trail system and private pond added to the peaceful, immersive outdoor experience, and a short walk will even take you to the nearby river. Activities & Family Fun: One of the highlights of our trip was how much there was to do without ever leaving the property. As a family, we truly appreciated this. Activities included e-bikes, mountain bikes, paddleboarding, fishing, painting classes, live music, and much more. Whether we wanted to relax or be active, Sage Lodge had us covered. Our kids were always entertained, which made it easy for the adults to unwind. Dining & Service: The food at Fireside Grill was phenomenal. Every dish was well-prepared and full of flavor. Standout items included the focaccia bread, spinach dip, filet, the double smash wagyu burger, and perfectly crisp fries. The Fireside Old Fashioned at the bar was unforgettable—smooth and flavorful. My wife and I may have enjoyed a few too many, and we have no regrets. The service was equally impressive. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the chef clearly takes great pride in both the food and the guest experience. Final Thoughts: We had such a memorable time that my daughter has already asked when we can go back—and honestly, we all feel the same way. Sage Lodge gave us a perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and relaxation. Thank you to the entire Sage Lodge team for providing such a special place for our family to enjoy. We can’t wait to return!

Yelp
The Grill is average at best. Food quality and service isn't great. Our server was also the bartender which shouldn't happen at a high priced steak house. Taking away plates before we were finished eating and clanging them together in a rush to get back to the bar. I sent my steak back for being tough, my wife's streak was tender and delicious. For the price they need to do better.

Yelp
My family and I stayed at Sage Lodge for family vacation in the Firehole House. It was a massive house with more than enough rooms. Loved the bathtubs and bath bubbles. The lodge is quaint and great activities. We did the hike to Chico Cemetery during the week which allows to see animals and beautiful scenery. We did a 2-day tour with Sage lodge and had Carly who was an amazing guide! She gave so many facts (scientific and historical) and provided such a wonderful experience. We also did the leather crafting workshop which was super fun. There is a restaurant on site which is only open for dinner which I was bummed about since the only other place was the main restaurant in the hotel and had get creative with our food choices. The cookie and toffi pudding was really good as desserts. Zach at the front desk was super nice and silly. Nick and Scott were fantastic fly fishing guides. They were very helpful and supportive and it was fun catching fish. A great place to stay.

Yelp
A must visit. Private hiking trails. Beautiful scenery. We stopped by the grill for a lunch and explored the scenery and land.

Yelp
The fireside room was delicious. One of our favorite meals in Montana. The steak was super tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed my huckleberry cocktail.

Yelp
While visiting my son for a week, he brought myself and a guest here for lunch one day. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Each of us were very pleased with our meals, but the star of the show was the view! We obviously passed many beautiful scenes on our way from Livingston out to Sage Lodge, but dining with nothing but a view of gorgeous mountains was beyond spectacular! I look forward to visiting again in the near future and making Sage Lodge a definite stop.

Yelp
Wow! What a stunningly beautiful resort! We love SAGE Lodge. We had a short visit and enjoyed the stunning views, and delicious tasting menu with wine pairings. It was incredible! Such a great experience, we can wait to come back!

Yelp
Wow! Passing through did not stay here but got Lunch at the Fireside Lodge. The place was super clean and the staff was so friendly. They even helped us try and locate some Moccasins, everyone was super helpful and genuinely friendly. The view was stunning and it looks like if you stay here they have a lot to do for you. The food was absolutely gourmet. Well needed everything was cooked to perfection and the flavor was delicious. So happy we found this place, ended up eating on the other side of Sage lake at a picnic area but the photos was of there outdoor eating section.

Yelp
Aaaaahhh Sage lodge! This place is beyond amazing. No pictures do it justice and just how beautiful this location is! Visited for my bday in November and dined at the Fireside Room. Had bison for the first time. It was a much leaner meat than I thought it would be. 8/10 For dessert, cinnamon roll bread pudding. Wow! 10/10 this was delicious! Moist and not too sweet.

Yelp
I miss the vacation in safe lodge. Amazing view from hotel rooms and the lodge. Amazing quality of food. Just remember to book free hotel activities a head of time. We were not able to join the free yoga/ hiking classes because it was booked full. They have free bicycle renting, s'more package at the front desk only if you asked. Nice vacation with family and friends.

Yelp
Review for the Grill & Fireside Room We had reservations for six at the grill which is spectacularly located with breathtaking views of paradise valley. They take great care to source their meats locally and the result is a truly unique dining experience that leaves you fully satiated! We tried the filet, strip and ribeye and all were melt in your mouth. In particular the filet was buttery delicious! We also tried the bison which is local and grazes on the sagebrush. Our waitress encouraged us to order it as you can really take the sage in the meat and WOW you really could! Also, I know it's strange to eat lobster in the mountains but the lobster risotto was also "close your eyes and savor" delicious! We didn't want our experience to end to we headed across the way to the lodge for a drink at the fireside room. Their cocktails game is STRONG! Expert, award level strong. Do not skip having their competition mixologist stir something up for you. My personal favorites were the tequila and mezcal based cocktails. My experience here was truly unique and five star. I highly recommend you make Sage Lodge a part of your paradise valley vacation.

Yelp
We live in the area and have eaten here multiple times, both the grille and fireside room. Food is good and drinks at fireside are amazing. Views are amazing. They struggle to keep help. Staff is always nice and give good service, but it is obvious they are not treated in a way that they stay. It is way overpriced so i assume they are paid well. If not, that is bad.

Yelp
Amazing getaway even on the off season! Looking forward to coming back in the summer! My wife and I decided to take a relaxing few days off in Paradise Valley and embrace the Montana winter. We ate in the Fireside room, went on walks, played games in the lobby, and enjoyed the hot tub all to ourselves with a snowy view of the mountains. The fireside room is recommended! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing like ending the day with a smoked old fashioned and an elk steak! They also had some fun events, like a guided hike and a class on tying your own fly for fly fishing. I recommend doing as many complimentary (included) activities!

Yelp
This might be one of the most beautiful places to stay in the area! The service is truly top-notch and the whole property has heaps of character without sacrificing luxury and comfort. Honestly spectacular!

Yelp
Omg. Amazing property. So many perks there. In the middle of nowhere and that's the whole beauty of it!!! Make reservations for the fire pit restaurant. They get super busy. The older lady, part of service staff, I wished I knew her name, recommended an amazing hike to us, 20 min drive away, pine creek falls. We took her advice, and it was unbelievable!!! Thank you lady!!!!

Yelp
This place is truly picturesque! I would love to see it in every season. We stopped here for lunch and I definitely want to come back. They allow dogs on the patio. The cocktails were delicious and the food was very tasty. The staff was so kind and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the view is just spectacular.

Yelp
Review for Fireside Room - The Sage Lodge offers a gorgeous dining area with stunning views. We made Thursday night dinner reservations almost 2 weeks before our trip and there was only one time slot available, although the dining room was practically empty once we arrived (perhaps there are limited reservations available to the public in order to accommodate hotel guests?). Anyway, service was amazing! Our waitress was very sweet and the manager was equally as kind, making sure we were well taken care of. Being pregnant, I really appreciated the zero proof cocktails (the foxy moxy was delicious!). The rest of the table said their drinks were some of the best cocktails they've had. For appetizers - Truffle Parmesan fries - I was trying to get the table to order something else since this sounded so basic, but I was pleasantly surprised! The fries were thin and crispy, layered in delicious truffle parmesan, and served with Mayo for dipping. Yum!! Warmed la brea baguette - Simple yet delicious. The bread was sliced very thin and paired great with the seasoned butter. It was also plated beautifully!! Everything up to this point was perfect and made us so excited for our entrees. Unfortunately, this is where the meal fell short. I ordered the 6 oz. Angus beef filet, which quite frankly did not look appetizing, almost grey in color. Thankfully, it didn't taste dry like I thought it would, but it definitely did not have a bold flavor. The potato gratin it was served with was just okay, I think some cheese would have done it well! My sister ordered the Korean style beef & kimchi rice bowl - first bite, an incredible combination of flavors. Second bite, we were overwhelmed by salt. Unfortunately, she was unable to finish her meal because of how salty it was. I'm sure the server would have replaced the meal if we asked, but she didn't want to bother. Besides, the dish itself was very delicious. Overall, I would definitely come back for dinner during another trip to Montana! Truthfully, you just can't beat the beautiful views of the mountains that Sage Lodge has to offer. Although our entrees didn't "wow" us, everything else about our experience did. I definitely recommend giving the Fireside Room a shot!

Yelp
My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Sage Lodge and there is a lot they've gotten right, but a few things they could improve on. PROS -The setting of this hotel is absolutely stunning. The views and the grounds are beautiful and tranquil. -They have a lot of activities and amenities that make for a great time. They provide fishing rods, mountain bikes, binoculars, lawn games etc for your outdoor recreation and board games throughout the great room for indoor fun. - The room was spacious and comfortable and the in room fireplace was amazing. - The 30-40 minute drive to Yellowstone was easy and scenic. - Great spa. CONS - The road and parking lot are unpaved making for a wild pot hole adventure when coming and going. - The bed itself was not very comfortable. Definitely bothered our backs. - Small details have been overlooked that can make a big difference in your experience there. For example the lobby doors are not automatic and there is no one to help you with your luggage so it's a struggle right when you arrive. It also makes for a very high touch surface which isn't ideal. Additionally, there was only sometimes water available in the lobby, no umbrellas available for guest use even though it rained like crazy the whole time we were there, etc. - The Fireside restaurant staff was very nice, but the quality of the food and drinks was very inconsistent. We had a great lunch and great cocktails when Michael was making them but then at dinner the seasoning was all over the place with some dishes oversalted and some totally bland and sub par cocktails. -- The cost of this hotel is definitely at a luxury price point so there is an expectation that these kind of details will be worked out. Overall very beautiful place and comfortable stay, just not sure it's quite worth the money (yet).

Yelp
This place is a dream ! Very secluded in the village of Emigrant, MT right next to the Mt. Emigrant off US-89. It is nearly 1/2 way between Gardnier, MT and Livingston, MT. If you are looking for a place to stay that is highly rated and it is close enough to the Yellowstone National Park you found it ! It took me weeks researching for the perfect location to stay in April (before the other entrances of the park open) and I am glad I chose Sage Lodge. The rooms are so cozy and nicely decorated. The shower, bed are all great, the room views are priceless. There's a NESPRESSO machine on your room ! The hot tub is fantastic, has a great view of Mt. Emigrant. While we were at the lodge we experienced sun and snow. We were inside the tub while the snow was falling off. It was a magical experience (more magical than Disney for sure -- absolutely no comparison). The SPA is OUTSTANDING. Yes, it is pricey, but in my opinion it was worth it. I got a facial and my wife got a massage. We were both extremely satisfied. We would have stayed longer in the SPA but we were traveling with kids so we couldn't spend much time there. The food is phenomenal. Best Chicken and Waffles I have ever had. My only complaint on the restaurant is that they nickel and dime you for small things. The restaurant should be profiting out of other things, not on soda refills. That's just so so so low... please, don't do that! Charge a $1 or $2 more on your food plates but don't charge $3 for every soda/juice refills. We were also charged for a "side swap" on my daughters dish. The restaurant removed the charges but it was not something they liked to do. Everyone is so nice here, everyone is happy, everyone brings lots of positivity to your vacation. If you are looking to escape from the fear the media is spreading around this is the exact place to come ! The front desk staff is very helpful. There are equipment to borrow at no additional charge. We borrowed the binoculars and glad we did, so we could see the wolves at the park. There are great options to eat around the hotel, you don't need to eat here every day if you don't want to. Hikes around the hotel are awesome, you can even hike close to the trail head that takes you to the top of Mt. Emigrant (if you are up for a mountain climb). You will never run out of things to do here, that's for sure. To end... I would like to say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. I do travel A LOT and it is very hard to find an extraordinary property like this. We are already looking forward to come back again!

Jana S.

Yelp
This hidden gem is a must-see! The breakfast great, warm vibes, and the service even better! We will for sure be back!

Yelp
UPDATE: After filling out a survey post our stay, I had a manager reach out with an apology and refund for the first nights stay. This was beyond generous in my opinion. This shows to me they care about their customer experience and reputation and pay attention. Mistakes happen, but it's how you handle them that makes the difference between customers coming back, recommending your business or not. While this does not change what happened, it gives me confidence they will most likely not have this happen again. So yes I increased my review from three to four stars. We came across this place on our last trip to Yellowstone. I never thought I'd be back twice in one year, but when Covid ruins your international plans, we wanted to get away to a place that is relaxing and free. This place is beautiful, remote and very relaxing, they do lots of weddings and I can see why. The lobby is a great place to have drinks, play games, and just relax or read. They don't get a lot of snow, at least in December, so you won't be snowshoeing right out the door. Everyone is very friendly, wanting to help. There were a lot of kids there, which I did not expect, but perhaps it's the time of the year. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed in a few things here. We were paying $600 per night so I expected much more professional service and no issues with the room. The staff is super friendly but not necessarily trained or detail oriented. They did provide us a humidifier that we asked for before we came, which was great. We checked in and noticed the heater in the room was not working. When we told the front desk all she said was give it time, but I can't fix it and the maintenance person is not here anymore. The room was at 64 the entire time. Wow! I asked for an extra comforter and slippers, and she said they were out. Next, our shower was not hot and the shower head was clogged so the pressure was abysmal. This was not the first night in a luxury lodge I was expecting. Finally, the bed was hard, it is not a luxurious pillow top mattress and the bedding is polyester, the kind that sparks. Next day, they fixed the heater, replaced the shower head, and had plenty of comforters and slippers, which we used to pad up the mattress. They made no reparations for this, they should have discounted the night by at least 25% for the amount of issues we had. Our room was cleaned every day very late, around 3pm, usually when people return from park excursions, so this was a bit annoying. They never restocked the supplies like lotion, toilet paper, there were no vanity kits, etc. One day they did not make the bed and young staff member at the front desk said it was because of Covid. We are way past using that as an excuse to not service rooms, it also just makes no common sense. The manager did give us a $50 credit for this. The food at the lodge was the fireside room and the grill. The fireside room is the casual dining place and it was for the most part good, except the burger, which was sad given the location and great local beef. There should be a few more or at least one more fish options as well. The breakfast was great. The togo food that you preorder for an early park day was not, the breakfast and lunch was pretty basic and they charged a lot. The drinks were amazing! The Grill is the more formal space, great food, inventive, fun environment and bar. They are understaffed so it's hard for them to operate at capacity, but they do their best. Loved the play on different dishes here. New Year's Eve however was a disappointment. The bar closed at 11pm, there was no music or anything going on in the lobby, and this place has the potential to have a fun party where guests can mingle and have fun. When I asked about it before, they said they would have music and the bar would be open. The spa was great, my stone massage was amazing, the facilities are nice, but it's a separate building so not a fun walk in the cold. I would have loved to just go there in my robe and slippers. Maybe in the winter they can do a heated, covered walkway. The rooms themselves are spacious with nice sofa and sitting space. We did not have a balcony even though this is a premium room, while it was not necessary in the winter, in the summer I'd prefer that to a window seat, so something to note when you make your plans. There was no real closet or drawers so we had to live out of our suitcases, a bit messy. The bathroom had a single sink, I would have expected a double. Also, the shower and toilet were in the same room for us, which was not convenient layout. It would be nice to have a rain shower, shower with adjustable handle too. While we did not use the tub, it looked nice and relaxing. All and all, for 4 nights we paid $2600 in lodging fees and another $1600 in food and activities, this was quite expensive for a short getaway but given the remote location and having everything at the lodge, worth it.

Yelp
Outstanding vacation at Sage. The entire experience was amazing for my family!! Starting with an All Star at the front desk - Jessica!!! Jessica was very patient educating us on Montana along with most important Sage Lodge ! The facilities had it all. Fantastic rooms- clean - gorgeous views- outstanding food - excellent array of activities.... Not only is Jessica a star but also Scott who was our guide thru Yellowstone. Scott went above and beyond starting with a stacked suv with food and drinks. Scott knew best places to search for Animals and we were successful seeing them all. We absolutely will be back with the extended family !! Larry C

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED Sage Lodge! The views are stunning, the room was clean and cozy, and service was excellent! The highlight was our bartender Michael! He made the best cocktails for my friend, and nonalcoholic mocktails for me! He went above and beyond for us, and made our evening so special! We definitely will be returning :)

Yelp
We came back today to give a second chance for a more savory impression after an unpleasant dining experience. Apart from the view (5:5 stars) both experiences were below average for us - especially for the cost. My recommendation would be to come for drinks and the view. Simple. Beautiful!

Yelp
My husband and I were staying at nearby Chico Hot Springs for the better part of a week for a work event. We were so grateful to friends in Bozeman for giving us a heads up about the new Sage Lodge and the dining options there. We love Chico and their restaurants are nice, but we were happy to have somewhere different to go so nearby. We arrived to the Sage Grill in the late afternoon and took a seat at the lovely bar with a fine view of the Yellowstone River and the little town of Emigrant. He opted for an Upper Ranch cocktail while I went for the Raspberry Rum Mule. Both were outstanding, but I have to admit I was actually wishing I'd ordered myself the Upper Ranch. Hands down the best gin drink I've ever tasted and I don't even like gin! We inquired about joining them for dinner and they were able squeeze us in without reservations, even seating us at a window with the same beautiful view. Bonus! I was tempted to get the shrimp and grits that appeared on the bar menu, but once I spied the camp fire king crab on the main dinner menu, I knew I had to have that. Turns out, it was the standout of the entire meal! Served in a cast iron skillet with a smoking wedge of pine, this amazing dish was so tasty with its browned butter, sweet king crab meat and toothsome barley risotto. Borderline perfection. He had the chicken fried rabbit for his entree, which was a more than hardy portion. He joked that it must have been a world record sized rabbit. Moist and tasty. I decided to pair a soup and salad for my entree, choosing the spring creek soup and sweet pea salad. I was curious about the "clear gazpacho" of the soup, so I just had to try it. Service started slipping from this point in our experience. The server arrived with our entrees in-hand but hadn't cleared our appetizer plates, then she just stood at our table until we hurriedly started stacking our own plates and did a swap. Not unforgivable, but when she took all of our silverware save a single fork between the two of us and then disappeared for far too many minutes, my patience waned and I waved over the bartender to let her know we needed silverware. She rushed some over, but I still didn't have a spoon for my soup. Although by that time, I had studied the "soup" and was perplexed by the lack of any wet component on the dish. (We joked that it was some seriously clear gazpacho!) The bartender quickly returned with apologies and a small vessel of the much anticipated clear gazpacho and poured it around my plate, careful not to pour onto the harissa-rubbed prawn. It was indeed clear, and sadly lacking in just about any discernible flavor. However, that was somewhat rectified once I mixed it up with the harissa prawn. The sweet pea salad seemed to be served upside down, with all the yummy ingredients buried by the overly dressed greens. Once I flipped the whole wad over, it not only looked better but was easier to get a little bit of all the good things on one forkful. My soup and salad pairing could have made for a pretty solid dinner offering, but unfortunately presentation and service were both misfires. Despite the downturn in service as the evening progressed, we enjoyed our first meal at Sage Grill and look forward to returning. Hopefully they will have worked out the service kinks by then.

Yelp
Amazing. Had the most glorious experience at Sage pre-Christmas. The room was perfect, spotless and very comfortable for sleeping. Especially loved the working fireplace that's on a timer. The hotel is charming and decorated beautifully for Christmas with incredible attention to detail. All the staff were so accommodating and sweet as can be. Our private tour with Nick to Yellowstone was the stuff dreams are made of. Most memorable and exciting experience and worth every penny. What a gem of a vacation. Thanks to everyone at Sage!!

Yelp
Absolutely stunning spot with delicious food and drinks! The rustic modern interior gives an upscale feel as you look out on the mountains. Every bite we tried was delicious, and cocktails were beautiful. Definitely worth a trip to!

Yelp
*Restaurant review only; not lodging* I came to Montana for my honeymoon during COVID times and a coworker who grew up there recommended Sage Lodge. The coworker is from Montana and definitely had the inside scoop/ Due to our budget, we stayed in another resort nearby that was less expensive in the peak August season, however we made reservations to treat ourselves to a 5-star meal at gorgeous Sage as part of the vacation. From the start, the staff was very sweet and welcoming. We mentioned it was our honeymoon and they were very effusive and congratulatory. Sage has the most GORGEOUS views around and guess what? The staff knows it and told us exactly where to stand for one of the prettiest pictures I think I've ever been in in my life. The grounds are perfectly kept and it kind of feels like you're in some billionaire's backyard. Very homey yet VERY luxe. We sat outside (cuz, covid) and I will say, not a lot of the guests were wearing masks and even some of the staff weren't wearing them properly, despite an indoor dining option being available as well. It's ok: months have passed and I didn't get covid but it was something that makes a more paranoid mind a little jumpy. The cocktails were delicious, especially some of the ones with local huckleberry. The burger was delicious (I didn't get the $60 foi gras topped one) and hit the spot. The desserts were wonderful too. We left feeling very full and very satisfied. 10/10 for ambiance and the food was kind of what you'd expect from a resort. Not the most scrumptious bites in the whole wide world, a little overpriced, but all totally worth it for a generally yummy meal in a gorgeous setting, all with a touch of luxurious pampering.

Yelp
We visited Sage Lodge while on our week-long Montana getaway for two reasons. One, to take one of their guided boat rides down the Yellowstone River, and two - to have dinner at their fireside restaurant afterward. We arrived at the lodge just a few minutes before our boat ride, and while the ride is BYOB we failed to bring our own juice and didn't quite have enough time to buy some at the Lodge restaurant before the ride started, but it didn't make anything less fantastic in the end. We boarded a little shuttle bus with another couple and went a couple miles up the road to a put-in spot on the river, and met our boats and pilots there. Most trips are two people to a boat, and we enjoyed a really great float down the river with an awesome guide/rower/pilot/captain. Lots of fun conversation, amazing pictures, great weather - really really worthwhile. It's definitely expensive, it was $400 for a couple for a 2 hour float, but it was a ton of fun. We enjoyed our time and while we don't need to do it again next time we're in town, we're glad we did it this time! After our float they carted us back up to the lodge, and we snagged a seat by the bar for a couple cocktails while waiting for a table on their exterior patio. While the sun had already set by the time we sat down, it's still wonderful scenery outside and we had perfect weather to stay warm enough but a nice chill in the air that felt delightfully brisk. The food isn't cheap, but it's all pretty decent. It's not "big city fancy food" but it's certainly pretty darn good. Overall they had solid mask compliance, though our Server would pull her mask off to tell us the specials, and she unicorned it pretty much the entire time...but at least we were outside I guess. In the end a great spot, cool scenery, great place, solid food, fun activities - if we're ever back in the area we'd even stay here in a heartbeat, not just partake in the activities and dining.

Yelp
This is for The fireside room restaurant; We have dined here many times over the years since they opened and watched the staff change over at an incredible pace.. were thinking its a management issue here as they cant keep anyone longer than a few months. The views are incredible and the atmosphere is relaxing, but so is our house. The food is mediocre bar food at best and overpriced but what is really bad is the fickle service. ( if we want good food we go to Chico or Livingston ) We go to Sage strictly for the ambiance. Yesterday we dined early 4:00 it was empty. and the staff acted like we were interrupting them. Rude and unwelcoming. Then our server was also curt, un-attentive for long periods of time, leaving our glasses empty for ages and our empty plates sitting there too long. She seemed to have a big chip on her shoulder too . She obviously did not want to be there. We are nice people and always try to give people the benefit of the doubt maybe this lady was having personal problems, but Sage Lodge is obviously not concerned about local clientele or repeat clients. We have had issues in the past here mostly with bad food, we keep coming back because it's so close to our house.. I just hope that one day they can get a good chef and manager that cares about customer service.

Yelp
My husband and I were on a 2 week road trip through Wyoming and Montana and we stayed at Sage lodge for 2 nights in mid October. This was supposed to be our 2 days of rest and relaxation between all the hiking and it didn't disappoint. Our room has a stunning view of the Emigrant peak and a pond and we had the most amazing time. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the room and property. The staff went our of their way to make our stay great. The food was excellent. Even though we do not eat meat, we had plenty of options and one night they even made us the kimchi fried rice with impossible meat which i loved. The breakfast was so good - I have never had oatmeal that good. They also had lots of free activities like axe throwing and bikes to borrow, which was awesome. We drove to Tom Miner basin one morning to see grizzly bears as a local told us about it. Definitely look fwd to coming back again some day

Yelp
The Fireside Grille at Sage Lodge is one of our favorite spots in Paradise Valley. The food is always great and the view is unbeatable. This is a most stop place!

Yelp
I was here for 3 nights in early December and had a great time! Lodge: The property is GORGEOUS. Views all around, and so much to do from daily activities, hikes or just enjoy the views from your room. We went fly fishing, went on a hike, wood burning, and axe throwing. We paid for a private Yellowstone winter wildlife tour through the Lodge which included private transportation, lunch, snacks and it was phenomenal! And everyone is so friendly! I enjoyed talking with the staff and everyone was in a great mood. Fireside Room/Room Service: Love the bar and the bartenders have been so friendly! There are limited food options at the Lodge during the week with the Grill closed on weekdays so we ate at the Fireside Room for allll meals. It's a little pricey for what you get but the service is excellent. Plus no other food options on property during the week so fireside room it is Although drinks were good, my one comment is on consistency. One night I ordered the Trout Chowder for room service and it came ice cold. Mind you my room was literally next to the front desk and couldn't be closer to the restaurant. Having never had trout chowder before, I assumed cold was how it should be served. The second time I got the chowder for room service it came luke warm. So I'm still not sure if the chowder should be cold or warm lol Another day, I ordered the trout spread at the bar but it was more like a spinach and artichoke dip with fish mixed in it, even though the appetizer on the menu had no mention of spinach or artichoke? Bartender confirmed that it was correct so it was bizarre Really wish there were more food/drink options at the Lodge (at least having specials every night of the week would help!) but overall we had a great time with all of the activities and the breathtaking views! We are already planning our next trip back!

Yelp
Sage Lodge is an incredible experience. Wonderfully comfortable ,quiet rooms with amazing views The restaurant is incredible, serving wonderful food in a relaxing atmosphere. Several sitting areas inside and out throughout the property that facilitate relaxation and gorgeous views. Quiet areas and outside fire pits that provide an incredible experience. The staff is incredible, very accommodating and friendly. The property is very convenient for day trips into Yellowstone and the staff will provide a thermos of coffee with to go cups included in your stay which is very helpful for early morning starts. Along with picnic supplies if desired. Every detail has been thought of and contributes to a wonderful experience. Extremely dog friendly .

Yelp
Review of Christmas's dinner with reservation The good : Very nice staff and attentive waitress Decent looking interior with view in to fire stove kitchen and some holiday decorations Great drinks ! The bad : Food food food Just bad on any level Soup was so mediocre it's hard to believe They completely burned steak and served like that (Did took of the bill) $22 dessert was beautifully designed , tasted however like $2 brownie in Walmart . We were dressed and very happy to experience something special and ended up with firm decision that we won't come back

Yelp
While visiting Bozeman Montana we stopped into the Fireside restaurant at Sage Creek Lodge. We had the most enjoyable afternoon, lunch with Bloody Mary's. Everything was perfect! The view is outstanding and the food was delicious. We had the burger and salad and it didn't disappoint. Everything was perfect. We look forward to returning.

Yelp
I just spent a three day weekend at Sage Lodge, and it far exceeded my expectations. I've been lucky enough to stay at several luxury ranch or outdoor adventure style resorts, and I'd say Sage Lodge ranks tops. Sage Lodge is still on the newer side, having only been one for just over a year, I believe. So they're still working to add some activities and amenities to the roster, but everything we experienced was just great! We didn't have time to try the horseback riding (or maybe we were just too chicken given the cold?), and next time I would love to try the fly fishing! Their staff is what truly makes them beat the competition. From the minute you step into the lobby, your breath is just taken away by the stunning view of the mountain straight outside. The lobby is warm and welcoming with a huge roaring fire in a massive fireplace. Floor to ceiling windows allow you to see every inch of the beauty that their natural surroundings has to offer. My friend and I arrived on Friday and the weather was stunning. Slightly chilly, but gloriously sunny. That evening, we enjoyed a cheese plate and some whiskey and just relaxed in the lobby for the majority of the evening. Since it is not far from YellowStone National Park (about an hour?), we decided to do that on Saturday, which is a must. Although majority of the park was already closed at this time of year, we saw bison, elk, deer, and wolves! Upon our return late afternoon from Yellowstone, we relaxed before heading to the spa. Angela, the front desk Manager at the spa, is just the sweetest lady ever. She was so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed sugar scrubs and relaxed a bit in the sauna and steam room. Their relaxation room is pleasant with chaises and a fireplace and a tea station alone with some snacks. You can order a drink from Angela (alcohol not included in treatment cost.) That evening, we did dinner at The Grill, just across from the main lodge building. The host was gracious, and the food was amazing! (I'll soon write my review for The Grill itself!) Snow was expected Sunday, so we decided to enjoy more time at the spa...this time we soaked in the outdoor jacuzzi, sipping champagne, as snow fell all around us. So magical! More relaxing by the fire and more cheese plates were had. An early dinner at Fireside, their main restaurant within the Lodge, had us nice and toasty and ready for an early sleep. (The wedge salad is so yummy!) The accommodations are beautiful, so much thought has gone into the details...outlets and USB ports galore. Hooks to hang extra coats and hats and even a long set of hooks to hang a fishing pole! A soaking tub (which I happily used), and a Stanley cooler to use instead of a mini-fridge so you can take it on your day trip to the parks! The views and surrounding area are just stunning, the food is delicious, they have constant snacks throughout the Lodge (peanut butter pretzels, chocolate covered almonds, dried fruit and nuts, etc.), but what made our trip so memorable and so perfect is the staff. Everyone is happy to be there and they take pride in going above and beyond. Lynda Warden, is the Front Desk Supervisor, but she seems to wear many hats. She greeted us upon our arrival and checked on us periodically throughout our stay, even when she was off on Sunday! Such a sweet woman with a few funny stories to share too. Sam, the activities director, is extremely knowledgeable about the area, what to do and when to do it, the rivers, the parks, and he is so friendly and sweet as well. Dicksie, (who may be a dining manager?) was just lovely to chat with and has the best attitude and smile. Angela, who I mentioned earlier, came to my rescue when I got dizzy from getting out of the hot jacuzzi in the cold air too quickly. Vitalii at front desk always has a smile. Paul Robertson, the GM at Sage Lodge has an extensive background in this sort of luxury/rugged vacation style and he's super friendly and so lucky to have such an amazing team. I can't say enough good things about the place. I rarely am able to disconnect, but was able to do so for a few hours each day (this is a win for me!), and I cannot wait to go back in the spring and check out some of the activities we didn't get a chance to try. Thank you, Sage Lodge!

Yelp
Stunning, laid back, yet refined and soothing to the soul. The lodge is reminiscent of a grand national park lodge-classy yet airy and welcoming. We will return with the whole family to rent one of the Ranch Houses. The staff are locals, folks with an easy smile and a warm welcome. They were genuinely interested in us and easy to engage in conversations, giving hiking tips, sharing jokes and chatting about places of common interest. Shout out to Norman the resident lab,he is a keeper. We spent several evenings dining at the Fireside room , drinking local beers and dining on fantastic food. The wine list is good, the staff made appropriate recommendations and offered immediately to correct any problems. Watching the staff it was easy to see they really liked and respect each other. We stayed in a King Lodge Deluxe Suite, it did not disappoint. The slipper tub, fireplace, large TV and king bed with down bedding is top notch. The furnishings are thoughtful and classic without being over the top. The patio with a view was outstanding. I wish there would have been an in room refrigerator but the cooler kept cold with plentiful ice made it a cool experience. The room was quiet and the room darkened curtains were a plus. Throughout the Lodge exterior are lovely chairs and fire pits and several hot tubs- again well thought out. They even have blankets, spotting scopes and we enjoyed live music one night. We look forward to returning with our entire family. Thank you for your hospitality.

Yelp
I cannot believe the multiple good ratings that this Restaurante has received. My experience was that of one of the worse high dollar dinners I have ever had. The Sage Lodge is a beautiful structure in a gorgeous setting with a great view. The wait staff was attentive and very nice. We previewed the menu before going and knew that prices were on the high side. Eight of us went to dinner that night. The food was well below average. I unfortunately ordered the salmon. It was dry and salty and resembled jerky. I could not eat it and sent it back as did my friend. We did not reorder a dish. My daughter had lobster risotto with 3 scallops on top. It was tasteless, mushy and the scallops were rubbery. She did not eat her dish. The local dishes were also substandard and very disappointing. The salmon was taken off our bill and we were given desserts to make up for the bad meal. The cheesecake was NOT cheesecake and was still frozen. The panna cotta was foul tasting and not eatable. In summary, we paid high prices for a bad meal.

Yelp
Excellent food! Super friendly staff with excellent service! Loved the hot tub after a long days Hike. Drinks are wonderful to sip on the private patio overlooking the mountains and pond! The fire rings were comfortable to sit by while waiting for our table.

Yelp
Recently stayed at Sage Lodge. Overall--Sage is a nice resort in a wonderful setting. It is considered a luxury resort, and it is priced accordingly. (You may want ask about Montana resident specials which can greatly reduce the daily rate.) While the overall experience was good, I want to call attention to our dining experience at The Grill restaurant, which is touted as Sage's premier dining experience. I believe the Grill has lots of room for improvement. We were seated on the Grill's patio, which had a great view of the valley. It seemed like a good start. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. After a long wait, our cocktails finally arrived. We decided to relax, order an appetizer, enjoy the view and consider our menu options. The waiter told us that appetizers only could be ordered at the same time we order our main courses. REALLY? At a pricey, so-called luxury establishment appetizers cannor be ordered before the main course is ordered? In my experience, restaurant patrons are ALWAYS allowed to order appetizers before ordering their main course. This is standard operating procedure at any restaurant--from luxury establishments to neighborhood grills. When we asked our waiter why guests at Sage's premier restaurant are not permitted to order their appetizers separately, he offered a strange explanation that had something to do with the kitchen only being able to "course" our meal if everything is ordered at the same time. You mean to tell me that chefs at a premier restaurant are unable to time out courses unless they receive appetizer orders at the same time as orders for the main course? Suffice to say, this was a bad start. The ending of our meal was as strange as the beginning. Our waiter asked if we wanted to charge the meal to our room. We asked to see the bill. He said it was impossible to provide an itemized bill and grand total because the computer system had been knocked offline by heavy winds. He then asked how much gratuity we would like to add--WITHOUT seeing an itemized bill or a grand total. REALLY? He expected us to offer a gratuity without seeing an itemized bill or knowing a grand total? I told him that seemed strange, at best. He told us that he could try to prepare a handwritten bill. It was obvious that he was annoyed at the prospect of doing so. I asked if he would leave a tip at any restaurant without knowing his grand total or seeing an itemized bill to check for accuracy. Without a word, he left the table and grudgingly prepared a handwritten bill. Turns out, preparing a handwritten bill was indeed possible. Bottom line: There is room for improvement on many levels at the Grill. But the examples in this review illustrate the need for more training and adjustments if this restaurant ever hopes to reach true high-end status at a luxury resort. I don't mean to cast a shadow over the rest of the Lodge. The location was great, the accommodations were comfortable, the amenities were extensive, the front-desk staff were very helpful and the Fireside restaurant in the main lodge was terrific. I would, however, not recommend The Grill.

Yelp
Sage Lodge was the perfect place for us. Friendly, helpful staff and great activities. The highlight was the Fireside grill. The food was outstanding, we loved every dish. The staff was generous and excellent with our five year old daughter. Noah was a fantastic guide. If i had to find a criticism it would only be some slight amenity requests: it's quite cold at night and although the heater worked great and the fireplace was perfect, the comforter was quite light. I would've loved some extra blankets in the room. And although there was a Nespresso machine in the room (delicious!), the coffee in the grill was not great. The complimentary coffee station was only 5-7am so we often missed it. (I only mention all this because we're coffee snobs.) More of the included activities would've been great too. Overall the staff was exceptional, the food was impeccable, and the location was great for visiting Yellowstone, Chico, Livingston, and Bozeman ... we will definitely be back to Sage!! A big thank you to the staff!!

Yelp
Our dinner experience was a total disappointment. After sitting for about 15 minutes, the hostess finally came over and offered us water. We ordered cocktails and didn't receive them for another 15 minutes. After the waitress explained they rebranded as a steak house, we all ordered steaks. Not one was cooked correctly. Over cooked, tough, and just terrible. The waitress never asked us once how it was and she could hear us talking about how bad it was. The potato purée side was boxed mashed potatoes. Truly awful. We spent over $700 and the only good thing was the cocktail we waited 30 minutes for. Do yourself a favor and do not eat here.

Yelp
Such amazing staff and property!! I shot a wedding here and the staff were always energetic and ready to help or just down to have a friendly talk
