When Miss Thailand fell out of my good graces for having inconsistencies and just "meh" food, a fellow coworker had only one word as his mantra, "Sage." He comes here twice a week and can't say enough about the menu. Fast forward to today, and my two coworkers and I set out for our first Thai lunch at Sage.
Upon entering, the space is really clean and simple. The subway tiles on the wall are a staple for the area, and the mirrors tilted on the walls make the space feel larger. The sectioned off part of the restaurant for just lunch, but this place is HUGE and must get pretty packed at night. We all ordered from the lunch menu - appetizer and entree of your choice, depending on the meat - was $9-$10. A very reasonable price!
I opted for tom kha (I always need to get it, no matter how warm or cold it is outside) which was actually vegetables only. The veggies were extremely fresh and had a lovely crunch to them. The coconut broth had less body then what I would've liked, but I truly enjoyed it. The portion was also exceptionally larger than the "other" place, which is great in my book.
Entree was shrimp drunken man noodle, with medium spice. WOW did they mean medium spice! It was really savory and delicious! I got five decent sized shrimp that accompanied the broad noodles with red bell peppers, broccoli, tomato, onions, and thai basil leaves. My coworkers got the pad stir fry, and although they didn't ask to adjust the spice level like I did, they really felt the heat! We returned to the kitchen three empty plates and three empty water glasses.
I would definitely bring the hubby to this place for a nice dinner if we were in the area; really great date place!
