Sagebrush is a classic honky tonk with a huge dance floor and two separate indoor stages. They have live music every weekend and also many events during the week days - check their website for musician schedule. If you are a dancer, you will enjoy yourself here. If you are a drinker, they have a large variety of spirits and brews to suffice your needs, including the Howdy THC beverage on tap. A great place to get the Austin experience if you are visiting from out of town. There is also an outdoor stage that is often popular on weekend afternoons and they regularly have flea market type events with artisans selling their creations and vintage goods.

Great dance lessons on Wednesday night and a fun place to dance. The Band had a wide variety of songs that was great to dance to. They have a good size dance floor that allows a good number of people to dance without being shoulder to shoulder. The bartenders did a great job. The drinks are a VERY good value. Bartenders were also super accommodating to special request. Unlike some other dance halls in Austin, the air conditioning seems to work overtime to keep the place very comfortable.

Laid back CW place. Comfortably filled, but not overcrowded on recent Friday at 8. . No drunks. Not a lot of drinking, though there is a full bar. Two-step lessons several nights@7. A few great swing and 2 steppers showing up. Large (25x20ish) dance floor.

We went for a show and it had such a great vibe. There were Thursday night dance lessons going on when we arrived and it was a lot of fun to watch. Bartenders were great throughout the night. It feels like an old school dancehall and is a great place to scoot your boots!

I hate to bad mouth places. It was packed tho if that tells you anything. I will simply say it wasn't for my. Paying $10 for a drink will lil to no alcohol and 90% ice was crazy to me, two sips and it was done. Not sure if the music/ band is the same or similar every weekend. This visit it was country and I love country. I could best describe this place as a old country speakeasy?!? Or barn party atmosphere....

If you're into two stepping in live country music, this place is excellent. They do usually have a bit of a small cover somewhere between 5 and 10 bucks mostly. But I think a lot of that goes to the band. Atmosphere is rustic, country western as designed, The bar has several drafts and can also make decent cocktails. They have a big back patio area with food trucks available. This place is really about the dancing and the two stepping. Go check out the live music, have a beer and have some fun.

Great bar with friendly bartenders and cool interior. Saw Dom Francis play there this past Saturday and it was absolutely rippin’. Will definitely be back soon.

This bar looks like a scene out of the movies. Certain nights have more classic honky Tonk than other nights. But the scene and music was great and not overly crowded compared to other bars. Parking is easy. Worth a visit. Certain days they offer 2 step classes.

Whenever we visit Austin we love coming to Sagebrush. Fun atmosphere and decent live music with dancing. Plenty of places to sit and on the weekends they sometimes have vendors out back. Food trucks out front for a bite to eat- always consistent food. Reduced 1 star because it always smells like a urinal.

I came here for an event called, The best little drag brunch in Texas hosted by Brigitte Bandit. It was a cozy spot, but with plenty of room to sit or stand. They had set up the tables and extra chairs in good spots to allow the performances to continue on to the crowd. There is only one bar area which has a variety of drinks from beer to hard liquor. The staff was friendly and moved very quickly considering the amount of people there. The parking are was limited, but across from the bar is a closed business that allowed for additional parking. I parked here and walked out to my car still being there.

Both my friend and I observed that this place looks like the bar from Twin Peaks, which is definitely a draw. There was randomly a ladder out next to the dance floor but it was only 6 so maybe they were just still getting ready for people. I'd like to come back when the dancing/music is really going on to get a better feel for the atmosphere. This place is a lot more than meets the eye, our party was surprised to find all the picnic tables and a large crowd out back as well as some sort of vintage pop up going on. The signage from outside made the establishment look more like a yuppie bar than it actually was. Either the seats at the bar are too low or the counter is too high, so you can't really sit there without feeling like a child. There's plenty of tables and booths so this isn't a huge issue.

First place I went to see live music a few years ago when none of my friends were going out. Instantly loved it. Surprisingly large indoor and outdoors, great staff and you can catch good music pretty much any night. Still love to pop in randomly and listen to some new acts

The building that comprises Sagebrush dates back to the 1940s, and the various clubs it has housed have some history in Austin music lore. When you pull up outside, you'll swear this place belongs somewhere in a rural town, and it probably used to be out in the hinterlands, but Austin has grown up around it. Nevertheless, it still feels a bit rustic and Wild Wild West. I don't think they have air conditioning. Dress accordingly. Inside, a large, decorative bar spans the first half of the right side of the room. They offer multiple beers on tap and a full array of alcohol, with drink specials posted. Prices are average for a south Austin bar. To the left is a lounge section with rustic tables and chairs and a stage tucked back against the front wall. This is where bands play that you'll mostly want to sit and watch. The back half of the room is a dance floor with a larger raised stage, which is where they feature bands that people will mostly want to dance to. Fair warning that it's country dancing, and these are country bands. Out the door to the back, you'll find a rather large backyard with a couple of food trucks and another stage. I haven't been to a show out there or seen the food trucks in action, perhaps because it's been the hottest summer on record in Austin and no one wants to be outside in the sun. But it looks like a great place for a concert. There's always been a cover charge when I've been, usually $5, but it may be higher for bigger shows. Check their website for details. Parking is tricky, because their surrounding lot is limited. You may be able to find parking up the street, but as with most clubs, I highly recommend carpooling or ride share. A DD is always a good idea anyway.

Visiting Austin for a week, we went twice. Sunday was fine but pretty dead, handful of people and loud band. On Sunday night, the bartender said I could bring my 18-year old son for a dance lesson on Thursday night. He just needs to leave after the lesson. So we decided to go here in Thursday night for lessons instead of the many other options available. We show up for lessons at 7, and the (different) bartender tells us no, my son can't come. He asks the general manager on site who apparently says my son can't stay. Anyways, massively disappointing and sort of ruined the night's plans. Super annoying this place doesn't have their act together.

Amazing vibes, such kind staff! Also plenty of parking and you gotta love weekly dance classes!

This is the new Broken Spoke, for old school boot scooters, hipsters, and music lovers. You get to see three different bands for $7 entry. Lots of room to dance, several pool tables, and a huge backyard. There are two food trucks (venison banh mi was exciting), and a clothing truck where you can snag a hood pearl snap shirt. Excellent happy hour prices, and great vibe. Great for large parties. Parking might get dicey at some point.

Came to Sagebrush with a group for the Tuesday 2-step lessons and had a blast. No frills, all fun. Free lessons every Tuesday with knowledgeable and fun instructors. Just please tip them for their great service! If you don't have a partner don't worry, they rotate you through partners so you have experience dancing with multiple people. After the 1-hour lesson, there was a line up of great bands. Great place for a little something different!

Music and service is unbeatable. Love stopping here to see some of my favorite local country artist, and playing pool. Pool is $1 a game and there is typically a cover charge to see a band. There is a taco trailer right outside the bar that is amazing too!

Sagebrush is awesome! There's two stages inside for live music, pool tables, and a huge back lot with a "Party Truck" that serves drinks, fairy lights and a bunch of tables. A group of friends came to see Ms. Mack here and we all had THE best night. Between the two stages, there is a good amount of room to dance, which is what we did pretty much the whole time! Along one of the walls inside, there is a silhouette of the dessert with a neon light sunset on top of it and it's my favorite thing about Sagebrush. With cute little candles on every table, this place is definitely a vibe! I had a frozen strawberry lemonade that was so good and had the perfect ICEE consistency! All of the drinks are priced really well, so you won't feel bad about getting a few good drinks. The staff is great, and that's always something I have to highlight because of the increasing stress that's being put on the service industry, so kudos to them!

Used to love this place, but I'm never coming back. A bartender followed me out of the bar, to my car, because I didn't tip him enough (short white guy, pretty sure his name is Garrett). Sorry dude! I was drunk, it was dark, and I'm not great at math. But that is absolutely psychotic behavior. What happens if you don't tip that guy at all? Assault? There are a lot of people who claim that this place overcharges, puts more drinks on your tab than you actually order (I started reading some other 1 star reviews. ). Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure this has happened to me here a couple of times, and I trusted them. Thank you, psychotic bartender, for teaching me where not to go.

Best little honky tonk on this side of the river with live music every happy hour and night! Seriously there is no better place to watch some locals (and touring shows) in South Austin. You will see someone you know here no doubt about it as it is busy when the music is going and when the beers and drinks are a'flowin'! I am a fan of their Hard Luck special that includes an ice cold Lonestar can of beer + well whiskey shot for super cheap $6! It is the perfect way to get rid of those jitters of being nervous about two-stepping on the dance floor. I also love their frozen bourbon lemonade topped with salt or chile salt on request. Try it! It will cool you down and get you nice & saucy! There has to be about 8+ pool tables inside split between the main stage (in the back) so there is plenty of space to hang, get some games in, and have some fun. There are THREE stages at Sagebrush and this just makes me beam! The inside bar (near the jukebox) has the cutest drapes along the back of the stage wall and plenty of room for 5+ band members to play/stand on. The mainstage is a sight for these sore pandemic eyes! Reminds me of venues and stages similar to other country venues I have been to in Texas. The 3rd stage is outside and pleases the folks who love mingling under the Texas stars and getting their fix of live music as well. The outside back space has to be 1+ acre back there with plenty of seating, tables, and space to move around. I have to make it out to their Sunday market days as I hear there are excellent local vendors paired with country live music from 3pm - night time. Sagebrush music booker(s), bartenders, and staff do a really excellent job of updating their social media pages (Instagram especially) with what bands and set times will be for the entire week! Keep an eye for me if you come here and maybe I will buy you a Hard Luck combo ;)

With several beers on tap, I asked to try one; no problem. Then I said, can I try this other one? Bartender said, "OK, this is your last try". What? I probably wouldn't have tied another, but she totally turned me off. I spend good money here. Two or three tastes, to know what I want to drink, should not be an issue. Screw her! If I were the owner, she would need to be re-trained.

WOW what a cool venue! A group of us came here to celebrate a coworker's retirement, and this place had a fantastic atmosphere. There is a LARGE outdoor patio area with SEVERAL picnic tables. We didn't get to see any live performances, but there is an outdoor and indoor stage for live music.

BRING CASH FOR THE COVER The door guy was really helpful, and the space is cute. We went to check out the vintage market this afternoon on the back patio. There were a lot of cars there, so we had to park a couple blocks away on a neighborhood street. When we got to the front door, there was an unexpected $5 cover charge, which is fine but I wish they would have posted that on their IG or website. We didn't have cash but there's an ATM right inside the door. We didn't want to wait in line to use the ATM inside since the band (close to the ATM) weren't wearing masks and neither were the people seated at tables. We left and the door guy was really helpful, offering to wave us through the back entrance to access the market and mentioning we could get cash from CVS next door if that was easier. We didn't go back, but we plan to try again. Next time we'll bring cash and hope they have the door guy at the outdoor entrance instead. Also hoping we'll be able to order drinks outside to stay away from the indoor maskless weirdos.

First timer. Was there last night. Love the Backyard feel watching two great bands and dancers. Went inside for the band on main stage. Got nice seat. Nice staff, good beer selection. But the winner of the night was that good truck outside. Holy hell!! Soooooo gooooood.

I really was blown away at this place going in there 3 months ago when hearing this place had changed hands. They really did a killer job in everything in here... great south spot to go. Probably my first choice around town. The staff seems nice and the owner was a sweetheart telling me the buildings history. The bands that play there are all pretty decent/solid too. This place will be great come spring time for weekend farmers markets / day shows due to having a few stages. Definitely a cool vibe and has a lot of cool photo opportunities for the Instagram generations. Loved the white horse vibes but doesn't have the smell of a urinal. Go check it out. Tender thighs on the back is AMAZING FOOD TOO!

Ice cold beers, friendly staff. Currently serving at 25% capacity with a large dog friendly patio great for social distancing. Cards accepted at the bar, and ATM at the door, outside cash only beer garden on weekends. Currently housing Baton Creole food truck out front! Live music every night, free juke box inside. Please respect the staff and wear a mask!

I had never heard of this bar but a friend invited us out on Sunday night. I was a little hesitant due to the texas mask mandate debacle and lots of bars were jam packed with people this weekend as a result. However this place was pretty quiet and spread out! They had an awesome honky tonk band playing and there was lots of space on the dance floor! Will definitely have to check out the food truck next time!

This place isn't for everyone - the back area is huge and great for live music, but the alcohol is extremely overpriced. I haven't had to pay a cover in years and this place charges $5. Definitely more of a "dive bar" scene if that is what you're looking for.

The almost all male staff that's super friendly unless you happen to be a female type that's only 5 to 10 years younger than they are. The meanest staff I've experienced in my 50 yrs. This is not a dancehall, prepare for a Dallas Nightclub with different haircuts that doesn't think you're good enough for it. Men? No limit! Delusional bigotry rules this whole scene.

Fun little hunky tonk in way south Austin! Paid $5 to watch live music and colter wall just so happened to hop on stage for a song. It was awesome!

This little gem is easily one of my favorite places to hang out at. Brenda down there sounds a bit high strung with that one star review. Yikes. Funny, I was there about the same time as her and had the opposite experience. The bar is spacious and the huge outside area leaves plenty of room between tables and people. Good prices. Great atmosphere. Definitely go here.

Rip off alert...PAY WITH CASH they will overcharge your credit card!!! Charged me $7 for drinks then another $10 charge for nothing. Tried calling them but phone not in service. Another FAKE COOL bar in Austin.

I highly recommend this place for a grand ol' honky tonk time in Austin! I went here on a Friday and had a great time. I saw two bands play and witnessed an amazing "guest" singer, Lucas Hudgins. The bar tenders inside were attentive and friendly. The mask policy indoors made me feel safe. The inside is very spacious; there are so many tables with views of the stage and a large dance floor. So many people got up and danced -- it was awesome and even inspired me, as someone who's never taken a two-step lesson, to get up and dance! The backyard is MASSIVE -- I imagine the concerts are held out there when the weather is better (the day I went, it rained all day). FYI the cover is cash!

A must see authentic TX experience. First time in Austin on our anniversary saw two bands here one bluegrass one rock left before 3rd band started. Try the Gumbo Definitely worth the trip.

UV light treatment in HVAC cleaning the cycled air. Mandatory masks at all times inside unless seated. Sanitation stations everywhere. An entire acre of land with spaced seating with plenty of room to stay socially distanced. This is what making it fucking work during a pandemic looks like.
