Sai Kwan Lo Jo

"This takeout-only shop carries both traditional and novelty snacks. Try hand-made lai fun noodles in Sai Kwan style, deep-fried sticky rice dumpling with Iberico pork, or stir-fried turnip cake with XO chilli sauce." - Michelin Inspector

Honestly, amazing. The Michelin Bib Gourmand is well deserved. I brought my mum with me and she complained about walking 20 minutes but then tried the food and said it was her favourite meal in Hong Kong. The flavours are fantastic and the man was very helpful - recommending and explaining the different dishes. Sad to see it has temporarily closed, I hope you reopen again when I am back in Hong Kong! Ignore the low star reviews, they are nonsense.

The rice noodle soup wasn't very flavourful, and not worth the hassle to get here and order. The lady behind the counter was about as unhelpful as it gets, she refused to help me order by maybe writing something down I could translate, and just pointed at the sign telling me to use the machine, until a Cantonese speaker tried to help me order and also couldn't find the dish on the machine. The ordering machine only takes Octopus, so then I had to get someone else to buy it for me who I could pay back. All for underwhelming food.

It’s okay, take out only. It’s a bib gourmet list and 1 man cooking which is impressive but food is a bit doughy.

Stir fried cheong fun was flavourful and aromatic. Food isn't expensive either

Read the reviews hence went out of the way to takeaway dinner from this store. Unfortunately very disappointed, the 瀨粉 tasted floury and didn't have much ingredients other than a couple slices of mushrooms and 菜脯. The black pork rice and fried pork dumpling were both average (pork slices were rather thin). Only xo stir fried rice rolls was pretty good, but overall experience was just a super carbs heavy meal with minimal protein. There's so much more room for improvement I'm stumped that this is on michelin bib gourmand list.

The noodles quality is low; tastes like flour. Other dishes also soso. Worse is the environment, there’s only one seat. Worst thing is the service, the old lady looks like we owe her money; and she just let delivery man get their deliveries over our food (you will know what I mean if you “dine in” there.

Lady cook was rude and asked us to check the takeaway bag ourselves when we asked whether utensils were provided. She even ‘forgot’ to pack one of our orders! What a cheater! Also, the food wasn’t even good, and expensive for dishes that were mainly carbs.
