The 16 Best Restaurants & Bars In Laguna Beach

"The grilled pork banh mi from Saigon Beach might be the greatest sandwich to pick up pre-beach in Laguna, but that’s not the only reason we’re fans of this casual family-run Vietnamese spot right off PCH. Along with bowls of pho and shaking beef, they serve creative dishes like cilantro-colored “420 rice” with shredded jackfruit, spicy-sweet chili peanut wings, and a juicy pho baguette dip stuffed with shaved brisket. Takeout is popular, but there’s a shaded patio out front and a short beer and wine list if you decide to dine in." - garrett snyder, jess basser sanders

This restaurant is huge on flavor but not on price.. we had a beautiful dinner here. You order at the front counter and then they bring everything to your table. There is an outdoor patio or an indoor dining room to choose from and both are clean but nothing fancy.. just a down home come as you are casual beach vibe. Our favorite dishes were the spring roles, shaken beef, and the brisket banh mi dip sandwich. The garlic noodles are a nice side alternative to rice and the chicken wings seem to be a universal favorite. This is a great relaxed place to grab a bite.. food comes out fast and hot. There is a free parking lot on the north side of the building.

When I was looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to meet up in Laguna beach, I came across this gem! It’s a cozy, homey spot with a great atmosphere for dining. We ordered fried egg rolls, crispy wontons, a pork banh mi, a pork vermicelli bowl, pho (traditional soup), chicken curry, passionfruit mango limeade, and Thai iced tea. The food was absolutely delicious, I especially loved the appetizers! The server, who was the only one working that day, was like Wonder Woman! She was friendly, easy to talk to, and super nice. It was the perfect combination of good food, great service, and a lovely place to try.

I got the vegan dry noodles and coconut pandan panna cotta. The dry noodles were tasty, but the panna cotta was out of this world. Next time I go I’m getting multiple!!

Google
Great food! We got chicken baos, they were amazing. Banh Mi sandwich, the baguette is soft, not too hard and crispy! We’ll def visit again

Understandably to a certain extent, it was closing time but they way they told us to leave was not professional and not the way to do it. And the food was ok.

My wife and I loved the original location in Newport so we were pleasantly surprised when we found another location in Laguna. Food is super good, plenty of seating and parking too. Everything was made fresh and large portion sizes. Here's what we ordered: Vermicelli Bún w/ chicken, two pork belly sliders and two grilled pork spring rolls. Their sliders are a must-have, they are pretty much our favorite thing on the menu. Update: we went back for mother's Day and had the pork belly lollipops and also the chicken wings. All dishes were super duper tasty.

Google
We love this place right in the heart of Laguna Beach! Wonderfully seasoned dishes and super friendly owners and staff. We always come for our favs, pho baguette, 420 rice downtowner, pan Dan waffle and tried some new yummy menu items today as well - crispy wontons, lemongrass, chicken wings, saucy bossy ribs, and dirty fries!

Google
The food was okay, my wife thought the pho was good, but if you have ever been to a mom and pop shop you've had better. You also have to ask for the normal accompaniments, bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime, etc. I assume this helps them save money and cut down on waste. Speaking of money, I spent close to $90 dollars for five chicken wings, one bahn mi, two apps, and two pho. Not mind blowing but definitely way too much for the quality of food. You're paying for the neighborhood you're eating in. Based on the price, food quality, location, etc. I will not be returning.

Yelp
We might order from this place at least every two weeks because it's that good! Food is always fresh and delicious every single time. Our favorites are the grilled pork spring rolls, pork belly bao buns, dirty fries, wonton noodle soup, and brisket vermicelli (but honestly you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu). Also the Thai iced tea and the early bird are so good! Staff is also always so kind. Def one of our family's favs!

Yelp
Actually really good food. I went solo, which is a rarity, and ordered a couple things that the cashier recommended. I got the Vietmanese Coffe/Thai tea combo, and it was really good. I also got the grilled pork bahn mi and the fried egg rolls. It was all good. The eggrolls were nice and crispy with a good tangy sauce and the bahn mi's grilled pork was really flavorful. Over all pretty nice/generic looking place that does the job. Definitely would make a good take out joint also.

Yelp
YUM!!! we came here under my friends recommendation. She loves this place. And for good reason, it's very popular with the locals. It's so good. We had one of the rice wraps and the 420 green rice with chicken. So good. This is a cute little place on the corner off of PCH. They've got a large outdoor area a nice indoor area with lots of tables very dog friendly and you can find plenty of parking on the street either up the hill or on PCH.

Yelp
Cute casual spot for Vietnamese food in Laguna Beach! It's fast casual, so you place your order at the counter and they'll bring your food to your table. The day we visited, the kitchen was slammed. They may have been down a person in the kitchen because everyone seemed to be waiting for their orders. Luckily, we were in no rush and the other customers didn't seem bothered either. After at least 30 minutes later, we got our food, and the dishes came flying out of the kitchen to the other tables that came after us, so I guess we just got unlucky with our timing. I got the grilled pork banh mi, which was good. It had a lot of pork. It was a little light on jalapeños and cilantro, which was fine by me because I prefer a light touch with those ingredients. The husband and wife that run Saigon Beach are very sweet. The husband apologized for the delay when he brought the food. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. They also have daily specials which sound delicious!

Yelp
For post Xmas day trip decided to visit Laguna Beach with my daughter. Strolled in the beach very lovely and decided to eat Vietnamese. Check out Yelp and this place has a great review. We walked for a mile to reach this place and it's worthy. The restaurant was very casual. You order and pay and choose your own table . We sat outside and inhale ocean breeze. The outside patio was a little outdated. The dishes were delicious. Naman fried chicken wings with sweet and savory sauce were marinated well. You can taste it even up to the bone. The spring roll with shrimp and avocado were fresh and shrimp was big. The sauce made it so good. The pork belly lollipops were bomb. It was so crispy yet not too oily nor fat. The sauce and crispy onion added the final touches to your palate. The curry tofu was ok. It has a lot of root vegetables that we enjoyed. The papaya salad was good also just needs acidity and a little kick of spiciness. Overall the food experience was mouthwatering . Be back for sure.

Yelp
This is basically a takeout restaurant and the food is supposedly authentic Vietnamese so we'll see about that! The kids who work here are very nice and helpful and know about gluten-free and they have a lot of interesting gluten-free items on their menu! I ordered the pho noodle soup with tofu, tofu, mushrooms, and a veggie broth. I also ordered the pork belly lollipops for the boyfriend I'll let you know how it is later after I bring it home and devour it
google avatar

Yelp
Worst pho I've ever had. The broth was way too salty, nothing could save it. Maybe we came on a bad day

Yelp
Wanted to grab a bite to eat after a hike in Laguna Beach and saw this place and knew it was going to be so good! The banh mi had amazing flavor as well as the pork egg rolls, which came with a delicious sauce. I would say the banh mi is a bit smaller than usual ones that i've had. The thai tea was also delicious but somewhat of a small serving for the price. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant as well as a patio in the front with some tables. It's also steps from the beach so that is a huge plus! The employees were friendly. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
My absolute favorite Viet spot! I would eat here every single day if I could. The staff is polite and attentive, bathrooms and dining area are always clean, and the food never disappoints. Tonight we had the vermicelli plate, nam nam wings, shaky beef w/ garlic noodles, and shrimp avocado spring rolls. And of course as always their Thai tea. Probably my favorite Thai tea, perfect ratios, not too sweet.
google avatar

Kimberly R.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find delicious Vietnamese food in Laguna beach! The food has a fusion take but still has classic flavors that appeal to my taste. My favorite was the pork belly lollipops that were super crispy with a sweet and savory sauce. Staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean with ample seating. We were the only party there for Saturday brunch. Would definitely go back when I'm in town.

Zooey L.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love this place and always visit here. This weekend we're both having severe flu and thought a hot warm pho would be the best in this situation, but somehow it's spicy which never happened before we can't have it with the sore throat and don't know how to deal with it. Just very disappointed and confuse
google avatar

Yelp
Was very good and very affordable! My only regret was not ordering even more items off the menu lol! The location is very close to the shore as well, after eating i made a 2 minute walk down to the shore
google avatar

Genezaret C.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot along the beach with a great menu. They have pho and spicy lemongrass broth- we got both! We also ordered some yummy appetizers, a little pricey but super flavorful and savory. The cashier had some great recommendations and a great attitude.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
Great location and the only decent viet place here. The spicy lemongrass soup was on point but sadly the others like beef and chicken pho were all very generic. Would be 3 star if it was in Irvine area
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Stayed in LB overnight and wanted to get something close and quick. Drove about 2 min from the hotel and picked up some spring rolls, bahn mi and thai coffees. The bahn mid were good. Spring rolls were good. The early birds were good. Everything was par for the course. Nothing stood out as amazing or must try. But they were pretty good.

Yelp
Like the little coves and hideaway beaches this felt like a hidden gem. Spent some time at the beach away from the masses and we were hungry! The menu was limited, but had what we wanted, pork Banh Mi, papaya salad, and bao/sliders. The Banh Mi by far was the hit, 10/10. Not too much bread, loaded with delicious-not fatty pork, and a good amount of veggies. Next time I'm here I'll request jalapeños, since there was a scant amount of those and I would have liked that extra heat. The papaya salad was decent, flavorful dressing, and it made me feel healthy, 7/10. It would have been better with more peanuts and jalapeños or some kind of spicy veggie. I'm weird about Bao or Buns, I don't really like the texture of the bread, but I keep trying. The beef Bao were delicious, I loved the flavor of the meat, completely different spices and good veggies. 8/10, probably 10/10 if you're a Bao fan. I wish we could mix and match on the 2 for $12 special since I really wanted to try the Chicken, guess I should've paid the extra $2. On the whole the prices were very reasonable, especially for this neighborhood. Service was good, food came out very quickly with fun crunchy snacks on the side. The ambiance was simple and clean. Nice outdoor seating area, but I wouldn't want to hear all that traffic noise. So glad we stopped by, we will be craving that Banh Mi .

Yelp
Good food! Pretty simple menu with good stuff to choose from. I loved the bánh mì chảo and the french dip! Interior is warm and inviting, service is great!

Yelp
Been here a handful of times. Amazing refreshing authentic Vietnamese food, quick and easy service, casual dining vibe-- perfect for a casual shopping or beach day in laguna. The food is so good I think about it often, so satisfying and portioned well.

Vanessa K.

Yelp
This place was super amazing! Ella and Angela who worked and took care of us we're so friendly and welcoming! We will definitely be coming back to the restaurant. Each time we visit Laguna. Give those ladies a raise, they have earned customers for life!
google avatar

Purbali S.

Yelp
Small cute little fusion Vietnamese spot in Laguna. Parking can be found behind and easy to walk too. Vietnamese coffee was strong and good. Spring rolls were very big and tasty. I wish they had a fish sauce for them but otherwise was very good. Papaya salad was the star ! It was so fresh and came with fried wonton chips. Banh mi was really good loved the option of beef over pork. Really good Vietnamese place in LB!
google avatar

Lyane P.

Yelp
What a gem! I in here to buy some food to take to the beach and this place surpassed all my expectations! We ordered a bahn mi with pork belly, a chicken green rice, and spring rolls with grilled pork and the tangy sauce. All were oh so good! The spring rolls were plump with lots of meat and vegetables. The bahn mi was also very generously proportioned as well. If Saigon Beach were closer, I'd be a regular!

Yelp
Surprisingly easy parking considering its location. During a girls' weekend with my friends, we had dinner here at Saigon Beach on a Saturday evening. Enjoyed it so much that we decided to come back the next day for lunch so that we could enjoy their morning menu which is available until 3pm This quaint spot had few customers dining on the front patio when we arrived on a Saturday 6pm so we dined outdoors. There was a significantly bigger patio crowd on a Sunday at 2pm so we opted to sit indoors on that visit. Staff greeted us on both occasions as we ordered at the counter. I like that the menu clearly marks its vegan options. I was super stoked that they have jackfruit as a vegan option too. Fried Tofu Bites - probably the most "expensive" item that we ordered considering that it's $7 for 6 pieces of tofu. But I appreciate the presentation and loved the added flavor of scallions and fried shallots. https://bit.ly/3B6Fkyj Shredded Jackfruit Bánh Mì - Yes! All kinds of yes! The jackfruit was seasoned well and there's a generous portion sandwiched between the toasted baguette. The pickled carrots & jicama, cucumber, and cilantro added a refreshing layer of flavor. Very filling! https://bit.ly/44Aq76h Vegan Chảo Skillet - It's like eating a deconstructed bánh mì and I'm all for it! This came with tofu, mushrooms, and jackfruit. https://bit.ly/3pjVySe I like this place! I appreciate the creativity, not only with their menu items but also with their vegan options. I would gladly eat here again.

Yelp
Pros: right in front of the beach, has its own parking and clean restrooms. Also dog friendly with outdoor seating I highly recommend Saigon Beach! Their food is delicious with good portions and the price isn't bad considering the location. I ordered takeout since I planned on eating at the beach but there's a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. My personal recommendation is their vermicelli plate with pork and an egg roll. It's very filling. But unfortunately their lemongrass chicken (seasonal item) was way too salty for me, so I would advise against it.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I decided to come here on a Sunday as it's been on our list for a while. Plus it's dog friendly and thought we'd spend the evening here with our new puppy. When we got there, it wasn't busy. We just ordered the wings and two bowls of pho. The wings came out first. After 40min the pho still hadn't come out and I was like "hey we should check if they have our order". My wife went in and they said there were a lot of takeouts but our food is coming out. Another 30 min passed and we were fed up. My wife went in and complained. They look annoyed at us as if waiting over an hour was normal. Took them another 15min and they finally brought out our orders. They claimed someone had the same order as us so that's why they messed up. Well the pho they gave us was bland and tasted like they poured hot water in as a filler. Or maybe they just gave us an order that was sitting there for a while. Not something I'd expect for $50 and an hour and a half wait. Overall, terrible experience. Bad food, even worse service. So happy we crossed this off our list.
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
You order at the counter first and they bring the food out. I like that because you can leave when you're finished. The pho was really nice. It's always way more food than I can eat but I imagine most people appreciate that. Id love to have a half order option because the noodles don't stay good as a left over. Tldr good food, ok price, generous portions, calm atmosphere.
google avatar

Bella B.

Yelp
great spot!! i shared the chicken pho, brisket pho dip, and the pork egg rolls!! everything was amazing and it was super affordable!! the brisket pho dip was to die for!!!
google avatar

Paolo R.

Yelp
There was a pho place across the street from where our AirBnB stay was and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff. Did not break the bank.

Nancy K.

Yelp
Food was so good. Pho, spring rolls and bao. But the Viet Ice Coffee with sea salt cold foam was the BEST. Service was great. Near corner of Coast Hwy and Pearl St - easy to get to with indoor and outdoor casual seating. We will be back for more soon
google avatar

Johnna G.

Yelp
Awesome, the food is excellent. My son and I eat their at least twice a month. Ambiance is great.
google avatar

Luz C.

Yelp
It was our first time here! It was friendly and pleasant. We expected an afternoon rush but everything came out very quick. The outside was really nice area to sit and enjoy your meal. I also got the crispy wontons and they were good but not a favorite. My favorite dish was the rice with the chicken, the eggrolls and the pho soup!!!!!! Super yummy overall and good prices
google avatar

Ellen R.

Yelp
The Phos were very very good but the curry chicken is incredible and I need to come back to have it again.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
The food was really good, you have to get your own silverware and water but other then that the food is amazing
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
I came here when I was visiting Laguna Beach, and I really enjoyed this place. Lots of vegan choices, which is always a plus for me. The food was delicious. The inside is nicely decorated and they have an outside patio which is dog friendly. The service was great and he gave us some great suggestions. The parking was easy. I will definitely be coming back here.

David J.

Yelp
Excellent service. Servers name was Chloe. Cool crew. Love the crispy wantons. Family fav is the Pho

Yelp
I've been craving a good banh mi for a while, and this place really hit the spot. The restaurant is quaint and beachy, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We got there around 4pm for a late lunch so there was no line and several of the tables were open. We ordered at the counter, grabbed a table number and then sat down. I got the grilled pork banh mi, which came out pretty quickly. The banh mi bread was SO GOOD! So fluffy and warm, with just the right amount of crunch. I haven't been to a place that has been spot on with the bread consistency, but Saigon Beach got it right. The pork was also extremely flavorful and tasted so good with the mayo. I loved eating here and would like to try some of the other fun things on the menu, such as the Coconut Pandan Waffle or Coco Dutch Baby. I would definitely recommend Saigon Beach to anyone looking for a casual and delicious meal!
google avatar

R. F.

Yelp
Wow.... Amazing.... Their sausage Ban Mi sandwich is and was to die for! I'm a local regular of this place, everything is so good! Annabel.... Tell your mom, phenomenal

An N.

Yelp
The BEST Vietnamese restaurant in Laguna Beach! We order from Saigon Beach at least once a week. The grilled pork with vermicelli noodle is authentic and so good! The menu is unique with very authentic flavors. The service is always friendly and quick. The ambiance is casual with a great local vibe.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
The lemongrass soup here really hits the spot: flavor is great with a savory balance of spices and it is also spicy, but not overwhelming so. It kind of reminds me of a bun bo hue, but a but not accommodating to the western palate. The portion size was generous, which is nice considering the prices are typical Laguna beach prices. Don't be expecting Westminster Vietnamese food pricing here! Also there is dedicated parking, (albeit it is a small lot) which is also a plus as real estate is hard to come by in this city. I will be interested in coming back to try more dishes here: if you are interested in a flavorful fusion Vietnamese restaurant and happen to be in Laguna I think this is worth checking out!
google avatar

Gordon H.

Yelp
We saw this road side restaurant on the PCH and decided to give it a try. The Pho looked awesome but we decided on the chicken spring roll and beef brisket banh mi sandwich. Both were exceptionally delicious. I worked in SF in the same building that housed the famed Slanted Door Vietnamese restaurant and had many dozen meals there. The spring roll here was just as good! When Laguna Beach definitely grab a meal here.

Sameer H.

Yelp
One of the worst meals I have had in a very long time. Ordered the yellow curry and was told it's one of their larger more filling dishes. 2 ingredients- potatoes and carrot, and not even enough curry in it to finish a bowl of rice. Honestly pathetic for 17$. Pity when restaurants start to skimp and serve up small portions and fairly tasteless food. Won't come back.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Don't expect traditional Vietnamese. It is much more westernized. That's not necessarily a bad thing as long as it's good. The mint cucumber limeade was good. Very cucumbery. Vietnamese coffee was decent. The food was just ok. The garlic noodles were pretty good. LIke butter pasta with garlic. The pho baguette dip was ok. We had the brisket. Kind of like a bahn mi but with pho ingredients. The pho broth was decent, but it came out without any cilantro, sprouts, jalapenos or lime. When asked for it they said they didn't have any at the time.... they had been closed for a few days for the holidays and didn't get their shipment of fresh ingredients yet.... it just wasn't the same. The sticky rice munchies were also just ok. The veggie crispy eggrolls were so so. At least they have their own parking lot, but be warned the spaces are extremely narrow.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Pretty good, I like the patio and the bahn mi sandwich hits the spot. Service is friendly and it's pretty quick.

Lana M.

Yelp
Delicious, delicious, delicious! I was in the area visiting from the east coast and was excited to have great Vietnamese food while in Orange County. I had planned to go to little Saigon while there but did not have the time. So I thought I was settling by going to Saigon beach. Not at all! The food was fabulous! Amazing papaya salad, summer rolls and Banh mi. I wish I could get this food closer to home!
google avatar

Tim J.

Yelp
Got this for the first time and it was extremely delicious! I haven't had Vietnamese food this good in a very long time and definitely will be going back. The place is nice with in/outdoor seating, the staff is nice! The food came out quick and fresh. Highly recommend this spot !
google avatar

Mytrang L.

Yelp
Really good vegan food and nice place to dine in. We ordered green rice and vermicelli bowl and they were delicious.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
What a great spot for fresh and flavorful Vietnamese food! The papaya salad was nice and light and the addition of the slightly crunchy caramelized onions was a treat. The grilled pork was delicious and especially crispy - both bread and pork. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.
google avatar

Audrey H.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! Friendly service, phenomenal food (I was on a pho hiatus but Saigon beach has officially concluded it!) We got their papaya salad (very refreshing with a little kick), veggie curry (fantastic!) & shrimp pho (the soup responsible for luring me out of retirement). We're already talking about ordering Saigon & a watching a movie in bed soon
google avatar

Yelp
So hard to find good Viet food in OC!! We did take out so I can't comment on dining inside. It's located in the shopping center next to Mozambique. We tried a variety of items: egg rolls, grilled pork spring rolls, pork belly bao, beef brisket bao, grilled pork bun, shredded chicken banh mi and pork belly banh mi. Everything was good. The grilled pork was not fatty. The chicken banh mi was full of meat. They definitely didn't scrimp on meat. The pork belly stood out the most to me. They also have vegetarian or vegan options, too!
