The 18 Best Restaurants In Alhambra

"If you come to Saigon Eden, a large Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Alhambra, and order some pho or a banh mi, you’ll have a perfectly fine meal. But to have a great meal, go for the bún riêu, a rich, tomato-based vermicelli soup that you don’t often find outside of Orange County’s Little Saigon. It comes stocked with ground shrimp and crab meat, giving it a sweet, yet musky flavor, along with big chunks of fried tofu. Definitely snag an order of the cha gio as well, which are crunchy, deep-fried imperial rolls filled with a sweet, fragrant pork and vegetable mix. " - brant cox

Nice cozy spot. I love all the plants that surround the shop! The man who brought out our food was very friendly as well. I came here on a rainy day and ordered #84, and I quite enjoyed it. The egg roll was super crunchy and the pork was very tasty.

I visited during a weekday lunch, and there was no wait at all! The service was fast, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is spacious and very clean, which made for a pleasant dining experience. The seafood salad had a delicious dressing that was really refreshing and appetizing. My friend tried something from the secret menu, the "Pho Ap Chap." The noodles were crispy on the bottom, topped with a tasty sauce, and served with a variety of vegetables, seafood, and meat. It was really delicious! The only downside was that we did have to wait a little bit for it, but it was definitely worth it. Overall, a great spot for a tasty meal!

Google
I was treated unfairly at this restaurant. I ordered a bowl of pho, but the accompanying vegetables were pitifully few, while the table next to me got a full plate. I also ordered the #119, and the amount of beef was ridiculously little. Coincidentally, the table next to me ordered the same dish and clearly received double the portion. Every table received a complimentary dessert, but ours didn’t. I’ve been a loyal customer ever since moving to Alhambra in 2020, and I can see that the recent changes show the owner is making an effort to improve the restaurant. That’s why I wonder—does this kind of discriminatory treatment actually reflect the owner’s intent? Are food portions and service being decided based on a guest’s nationality, age, or body size? This was a terrible experience.

Ate dinner here for the first time, and it was an excellent experience. Staff was very friendly, and my food came out so fast. Not to mention everything was delicious. They even give you a little complimentary pudding at the end of your meal. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Reasonable price. A range of dinner options to choose from. Nice sitting arrangement. Food was okay.

Came with my Vietnamese friend and had a tasty time :) good area, free garage parking nearby. Friendly staff and lots of seating—prices are fair for what you get. My friend mentioned that this is a north Vietnamese restaurant which you don’t see a lot of in the states. The pho has ginger in the broth, different meat, and doesn’t usually include sprouts/mint/basil garnishes (but they do here). It was delicious! The broth was hearty (even better if you add a dash of vinegar) and the noodles were well cooked. There are also specialty dishes that are hard to find including a fabulous dish local to Hanoi. (Forgot what number. 70/80s?) The meat was tender, savory and a little sweet. Overall good meal option

Google
This was an extremely good pho spot with a huge menu! I had the smoked brisket which was perfectly cooked and seasoned; the broth was also delicious. I ordered some spring rolls and a budweiser with my meal which was given to me at a great price. Overall, I'd return. There was a lovely patio that I wish I sat at to avoid the noise. Service was kind but seemed overwhelmed.

Google
This restaurant has a huge menu and lots of parking. The food was decent. I loved the finely sliced carrots and cucumbers. The portions were decent and the food is a little pricey. They brought out the appetizers after the main entrees came out. The Bo Nuong Cuon was horrible. I really don’t recommend ordering spring rolls anywhere. Our spring rolls came with only one slice of meat and the rest was noodles and veggies. What a waste of money. We ordered the Bo Luc Lac and chose a baguette instead of rice, big mistake. This baguette was so stale so i’m glad we didn’t order the Banh Mi. I probably won’t come back to this restaurant since there are so many options in the area. The staff was also really nice and friendly.

Yelp
Living in Pasadena, very limited Pho places to choose from. Having traversed Valley Blvd and San Gabriel, found this gem packed on a Monday night. Totally worth the wait. Great broth and higher quality meat cuts. Coming back!

Yelp
Of the many pho places I've had in San Gabriel/Alhambra area, I can definitely say Saigon Eden is a safe bet. There's no frills, just solid pho. I was famished from running and pho is my go to. The salty broth, rice noodles and beef slices are all what my body needs to replenish electrolytes, carbs and protein. I usually order extra noodles, because I need the extra calories. The pho definitely is a good size and was satisfying. Will come back again.

Yelp
I was originally going to go to Golden Deli for their Banh Hoi, but the wait was over an hour. So, I decided to check out Saigon Eden, which is about a 10-minute drive from Golden Deli. Parking was a nightmare at 7 p.m. on a Friday night, but the food was amazing! I got the Banh Hoi with charbroiled beef and imperial rolls. I love this dish because it comes with tiny vermicelli noodles and a lettuce leaf to wrap everything together. It's super filling and only cost $14! You can't beat the price. They also serve a complimentary mung bean dessert at the end of the meal. So delicious!

Maria L.

Yelp
The Pho was good but I did not liked the rice plate of grilled pork with baked egg. The pork and baked egg were kind of dry.

Kirsten A.

Yelp
Great pho, the fresh noodles are my favorite and the broth is rich and flavorful. Also their garlic green beans are DELICIOUS. The thai tea and springs rolls are a lot bomb.com One of the staff members sang hello to us when we walked in to be seated and I really appreciated it was very cute. Left feeling restored. I like all the plants and chill atmosphere.

Yelp
This is our favorite Vietnamese place in the 626. The service is exceptional and our tummies always leave satisfied every time we dine here! We always order their pho (with meat on the side so it doesn't get overcooked), their charbroiled beef rice plate combo (w/ imperial rolls and the egg with the minced meat & vermicelli wrapped in bean curd). Their bun rieu is delicious too. I love that you can order a half order of the imperial rolls because as an appetizer they give you a lot! I was curious about the pennywort drink once and they were kind enough to give me a sample to try. Not my cup of tea but I can see why people like it! Shoutout to Thomas for being so sweet and attentive! We look forward to seeing him whenever we dine in!

Yelp
Had a delightful dining experience on a Thursday evening at 5:30 PM! Meeting my friend for a catch-up date after a few months, and this place was perfect for it. Ample seating, friendly and attentive staff. The waitress, anticipating well, suggested hot tea as soon as she seated me (I arrived first). The tea was fantastic--I regret not asking for the name to recreate it at home! I ordered veggie pho with tofu, and my friend had beef pho with clams. They never rushed us, and we spent a leisurely 1.5 hours chatting, with refills of the excellent tea. Great service, atmosphere, and a perfect spot for catching up. Will definitely return! Parking available at the back entrance, and the clean bathroom stalls are a plus.

Yelp
I came to Saigon Eden for a quick lunch. I just wanted to grab a Bahn Mi sandwich to take away, but I ended up sitting down at the restaurant while it was being prepared. One of the waiters was nice enough to bring over a glass of water while I waited. The restaurant itself was pretty nice and spacious, so it looked like a decent place to go with a big group. My Beef Bahn Mi sandwich was tasty, but it wasn't anything spectacular. I enjoyed the beef flavor, but I think the sandwich could have used a bit more sauce, to counteract the dryness of the bread. I didn't try anything else on the menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of their dishes tasted, but I was decently content with my Bahn Mi. Next time I'm in the area, I'd like to try a different spot.

Yelp
Great taste. Big portion. Lots meat. Great value. The authentic Vietnamese ice coffee is amazing. Passion fruit green tea is a bit sweet though. Will come again for sure.

Yelp
Saigon Eden has the best egg rolls ever. The noodles are also spot on. All of their food is great and you will love whatever you try. The service is so friendly and they are nice to kids. All the servers are kind and sweet and boy can they help with the menu. The place is so pretty. It is always spotless Try their charbroiled beef rice plate combo. You will get one of those great eggrolls with it. It is all so good. You have to try.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Great pho Great service Great overall place! My wife and I love this place and wouldn't choose another pho place over it!

Yelp
I love this place! This is literally my comfort food spot, I've been at least 10 times in the past year now. The service is always spot on, the waiters are so smiley and happy to help. There's super easy parking in the back in the parking structure if you're not able to secure a spot directly behind the restaurant. The ambiance is nice too, being super spacious, with self-serve sauces and utensils at the table. Personally, I LOVE their eggrolls and pho, and I almost always ask for extra meat! The eggrolls are fried to perfection and piping hot when they come out. Some of the best I've had, be sure to try!

Diana S.

Yelp
Waited for more than 15 mins and this is what I got: I've had rice noodles before and I'm pretty sure these noodles were microwaved. I really regretted that I added a tip.
google avatar

Larry D.

Yelp
Going to keep it short. This is one of the few places where prices are not outrageous in 2024. We come here for the pho and rice plates, which are excellent. The rice plates are also filling. Service is good too - they take your order relatively fast and don't waste your time. Easy 5 stars, and will be back often.
google avatar

Jesica S.

Yelp
Been coming here for 30 years. It's the best Pho around. Used to be Pho 79 The prices went up dramatically but then again, what hasn't?

Yelp
This is a cozy Vietnamese restaurant close to the intersection of Main and Garfield. You'll feel the air of nostalgia as this place has the style of an older pho restaurant. There's a free, public parking structure behind the restaurant. The staff here are nice and will make sure you're taken care of. There's lots of available seating. I got the medium bowl of pho and I got really fun from it. I ordered the pho with rare beef and tripe. They PACKED it with meat and noodles. For $12, you're definitely getting a value meal here! I also got the Che Bau Mau (3 color dessert) with mung bean, red bean, and pandan jelly poured with coconut milk. SOOOO good and the right amount of sweetness!

Alice ..

Yelp
5/5 I've had pho several times at this place but couldn't remember anything distinctive. It has been a while since I've gotten pho here but I tried out the pho de lengua because lengua is usually good with tacos so I thought why not. It was delicious overall. Loved the broth. You could get it with fresh noodles or regular. I got regular. Restaurant wise, I like how utensils and supplies (straws & napkins) are at your table so you don't have to constantly flag down someone and wait sometimes a long time like other places.

Yelp
Pho hit the spot on a cold June gloomy day. I like how you can customize your pho here with any of their toppings. My usual is flank, meatballs and tripe with a side of cooked bean sprouts. Broth was flavorable and the regular size was just right for me. Hubby enjoyed his customized rice plate with various proteins plus red rice. So you can be as healthy or hearty with your meal. Food comes out quickly and plenty of free parking with the city lot in the back.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
My Vietnamese bestie chose this place. She's very picky and she enjoyed her vermicelli bowl. I liked my rare beef pho as well. It was a little on the oily side though. But the broth had good flavor, the noodles were cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The noodles didn't have that weird stale taste that some places have when they don't rinse the noodles. It was tasty and satisfying. My husband had the lemongrass chicken on rice. We were all confused when it arrived at the table because it didn't look at all how we were expecting it to. It looked more like a Chinese dish lol. It tasted ok but he wished he got something else.

Yelp
We were planning to eat at Borneo but there was such a long wait so we saw this Vietnamese restaurant next door and decided to give it a try. We're so glad we went here instead because the food and service were really good. They're located off Garfield Ave. and share the same parking lot as the other restaurants in the same block and a few on Main St. Food: We both ordered #84 & #96 the vermicelli dishes with charbroiled pork, shrimp (grilled or shrimp paste), and egg rolls. It was really flavorful and so delicious. Good portion size and you can ask for extra fish sauce if needed. This was my friend's first time trying the Vietnamese vermicelli dish/bun thit nuong and they love it. Vert healthy option with half rice noodles and half veggies. FYI: the shrimp paste cost more than the grilled shrimp. Their egg rolls are made from the spring roll/rice paper not the wonton/egg noodle paper. It reminds me of Golden Deli's egg rolls. Atmosphere: Nice, decent size restaurant. The lady who we think is the owner is so kind and kept stopping by to see if we need anything. Note: You need to walk up to the counter to pay your tab, but they accept credit card payment. Plenty of parking in the parking structure off 1st street. No wait whatsoever. We will definitely come back to try their pho, rice dishes, and other menu selections.

Yelp
The best phở I have ever had in my life! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Two thumbs up!

Karla C.

Yelp
This place is ridiculously delicious. The charboiled pork and beef are tender and lean & the eggrolls are super crispy and hot ALL the time. The pho is also a good choice here. Recently started coming here, and we LOVE IT. Oh, & the service is superb. The ambiance is fancy-ish, but at the same time, homey & cozy. *Parking is in the back, but it is limited to about 4 spots. However, there is a large parking structure with a limit of 4 hrs.
google avatar

Angela Z.

Yelp
The parking structure right behind it can get pretty packed, but we have never had trouble parking there during prime dinner time. We have also never waited to be seated here, although the restaurant is quite bustling. Service is polite and very quick. If you are hungry, come here as your food comes out fast. The soup tastes light, but flavorful. Compared to other pho restaurants in the area, I feel like the broth does not rely on seasonings as much for flavor. They are also generous with the meat in the soups. The large doesn't look much larger than the medium, but it actually is. I can easily finish a medium soup, but cannot finish the large at all. The inside is clean and casual, with minimal decor. Perfect for a quick, casual meal with friends.

Yelp
I've been going here since this place used to be Pho 79 as it's one of the few places that serve Bun Rieu. It's conveniently located with a parking structure next to it and you can enter from both the front and rear of the building. Bun Rieu (4/5): Solid, it used to be better years ago and they've changed the type of the tofu used but the broth is still good. Wish the crab patty mixture was not so ground up but taste is there. Pho Tai Nam Sach (3.5/5): I usually get this cuz I like tripe and got my bf into it too. It comes with the rare beef and well done brisket as well. Meat is very tender. Not a super standout or best pho out there but it's not bad. Cha Gio Egg Rolls (4/5): This is one of my faves, it always comes out super crispy and I love the pork vegetable meat mixture inside. It's pretty no frills and nothing very standout but a solid choice especially if you're not up for waiting to get a table at some of the other restaurants in the area here. Or if you're like me and looking for Bun Rieu specifically.

Yelp
One Of My Fav's Pho In L.A. This Is Alhambra Main Branch. Order Pho Kobe + Extra Kobe Meat , Pho Tai Nam Gan + Extra Ribeye Meat , Bo Luc Lac , Cha Gio. Very Very Good Comfort Food.
google avatar

Roberta L.

Yelp
Pretty much a staple pho place we go to eat. The Banh Xeo is good and the pho too! We pretty much gobble everything down Parking is the free structure behind it.

Han c.

Yelp
It's the only Vietnamese's Restaurant in La that can competed with the authenticity of OC!
google avatar

Daren C.

Yelp
Went here for pho on a cool weekday, suffering a cold. Figured some hot, spicy soup would kick it out of me. Apparently, this cold was a doozy! The btith was flavorful, but the proteins (like tripe) were a bit sparse. The veg was plentiful and fresh. After adding the veg and sriracha, it was a comforting lunch Parking is really bad at this location. With just a handful of spaces accessible by the alley behind the store, they fill quickly, and street parking is hard to find nearby. Food is decent, but accessibility is not. Will search for another place soon.
google avatar

Sunnie M.

Yelp
Not amazing, but close by and better than chain pho restaurants. The ambiance is quite nice and it is nearby a lot of cute date spots.
google avatar

Winn H.

Yelp
I've visited the parking structure near Saigon Eden a few times, and I can't believe I never entered despite the light decorations outside the back entrance. Seating is pretty quick on weekday nights, and I came with a small group of friends. The first thing I noticed were their clean, brown tables, which aren't oily but still have quite a bit of shine. Around the restaurant, there is quite a bit of greenery which pairs well with the white interior. The atmosphere is quite relaxing and easy on the eyes; the best view is sitting facing the street, where you can't see the rush hour cars behind walls of plants, but they're still slightly audible. I ordered the Bun Bo Kho was very good. The taste was neither too strong nor too salty. It was rich in flavor and not spicy at all, with most of the flavor coming from the meats and salt. The beef had tons of fat, but I enjoyed the carrots and all of the sides that came with it. Other than that, everything was so smooth and consistent from ordering to the food to paying - hard to not return in the future!
google avatar

Joann V.

Yelp
4 stars I got Pho Khong (plain boodle soup) and my mom got Bun Cha Gio (rice noodles, veggies, and eggrolls). The portions are pretty big and their food is pretty standard. It's not the best and it's not the worst. The veggies they gave us was pretty fresh. For dessert, we got Che Ba Mau, which is a bean dessert. They use red kidney beans instead of the regular red beans... It was pretty good. Would have been better if they used the smaller red beans. Their green jello was a lot chewier than expected. Still delicious...just different. It's a solid restaurant for reliably consistent Vietnamese food. I'd return.

Yelp
Ambiance - Saigon Eden was pretty empty for lunch on a holiday. We arrived around noon and there were only about a handful of tables with guests. The restaurant is split into two sections, one on either side of a dividing wall. They also have outdoor seating, but it was far too cold for that. Service - Given how empty the restaurant was, we were a little surprised by how long it did take for the waitstaff to come around and for the food to arrive. Or *maybe* we were a little hungry after a long 2-hour walk through the gardens. Food- Our patience was rewarded. I'm a little torn on the food. Some of the dishes were definitely noteworthy like the bbq hen/chicken with red rice. The roast on the Cornish hen was excellent. The skin was crispy and the meat had pulled away from the bone in the way where you already know it'll be good. The banh xeo was also memorable with a brittle mung bean shell, packed with plenty of bean sprouts, lean pork, and served with a generous helping of fresh herbs. Other dishes were not as impressive. My crab claw rice noodle soup was so small, practically kid-sized. It only had one crab claw and it tasted like something they'd thawed from frozen--not the freshest crab I've had. To compensate, they included about a handful of shrimp. Everyone else's dishes looked normal-sized. Saigon Eden is one of those places where a half star feature would definitely come in handy. I suppose at the end of the day, the dish you pick could make or break your experience. If it's any consolation though, the stellar dishes were the ones worth waiting for.

Yelp
Best bun (vermicelli with fish sauce) that I've tried in the San Gabriel area, with many options for combinations of meat
google avatar

Novia E.

Yelp
Been coming here for the past few years, but this is my first time trying other dishes that I don't usually order. I found it so good but I think their banh xue can use a little bit more of flavoring. Their pho and vermicelli dishes are decent I think, but still hit sentimental values because I used to come here all the time before or after movies.
google avatar

Katelyn K.

Yelp
To be honest I had another place in mind but it's closed, so I chose to come here since I'm in the area. This place takes me way back to my high school days. I don't come here often so I noticed they redecorated the dining room. It's pretty big, two big rooms and more tables outside. Here's what I got: 21. House special combination beef noodle soup 46. Bun Rieu, ground shrimp, crabmeat, tomato vermicelli soup 116. Charbroiled pork, imperial roll, shrimp paste with tiny vermicelli served with lettuce Coffee with condensed milk (iced) Flavor is good, better than average but it's still not my first choice if I have to choose. After all, taste is subjective so give this place a try. Servers are nice and they bring out food pretty quickly. Plenty of parking in the back. Yon can park right behind the restaurant but because it is a small parking lot, it might be hard to back out. You can park at the parking structure and walk over too.
google avatar

Elena C.

Yelp
Best beef comes from Kobe(st) Saigon Eden promises you Kobe beef on their pho. I can't say if it's true or not, but this is the most tender beef ever pho sure! You can literally inhale the beef. So smooth and tender. But it doesn't break. You can get that satisfying chew of a bite-sized beef. Some other beef can be tender because it was sliced paper thin, but once it enters the pot then it becomes like, well, paper. It just breaks and turn into morsel. The broth is a little bit sweet, but it's never sickly sweet. You won't get tired of it until you've found the bottom of the bowl. THEN you'd be asking yourself why did you order the large portion. But did you regret it? You won't. Or you'd probably will. Because once you go Kobe, you can't go bek.
google avatar

Jasmine Z.

Yelp
Overall: 3.5 Pros: - Very affordable pho. Ordered the Pho tai (rare beef noodle soup) for ~$10. The meat was thinly sliced and cooked in the clear broth. There are the usual bean sprouts, lemon, and mint leaves on the side. - Convenient location with nearby free parking - No long lines Cons: - We dined in on a Saturday. There weren't many people in the restaurant but the service was pretty slow. - Compared to some other pho places, I just wasn't very impressed by the flavors of the pho broth, which I think is one of the most important parts of the dish. Final thoughts: - Decent food that is inexpensive, but tastes just okay.

Judy L.

Yelp
I got a combination pho, and the soup was very tasty. The side of cilantro, basil and bean sprouts was fresh. Quick, polite service. I will eat here again.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night and it was quite busy. We were seated quite quickly even so and immediately ordered. I got the beef pho. The food came really quickly! I ordered the medium but felt like there was really little noodles, next time i'll definitely order the large. Overall the broth was yummy and tasted great. Nothing beats a good bowl of pho on a chilly day!

Karen G.

Yelp
The food is amazing here. The staff very kind and friendly . My family and I are come here for over than 5 years now . I would totally recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Carena N.

Yelp
Compared to some of the other pho restaurants that I've been to, this place marks just on the okay scale. Not too bad, but not too great. It's decent if it's the only place convenient / nearby, but I'd probably go somewhere else for my usual pho tai bo vien. What I did try for the first time here was pennywort juice, which is apparently quite common in Vietnam. I've never seen it served anywhere else before so decided to try it. The best way to describe this juice is grassy and sugar cane-y. Although, I'm not sure if it's naturally sweet or if there's added sugar but there's definitely some earthyness/herballyness to the flavor. Something worth trying if you haven't already, but also just okay for me. I personally don't prefer it and would probably not order it again.

Yelp
Such a nice restaurant. Banh xeo was amazing! The service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend

Yelp
This spot in Alhambra is very tasty. Zero waiting time to be seated. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Service is speedy fast and orders are accurate.

Yelp
This is a great place for tasty, yet reasonably priced Vietnamese food if you know what to order. I think the highlights here are the pho and egg rolls(cha gio). The buon, shaken beef(bo luc lac), cornish hen and any plates with charbroiled beef or pork are also good here. You get decent tasting food here that's well worth your money spent. I think it's better here than Golden Deli, which I think is rather overrated(had their pho and egg rolls), which you'll end up paying quite bit more than all the other Pho places. Don't get items like the banh mi here(french vietnamese sandwiches)as it's better at other banh mi places for less. I go here often. I usually get the Pho or egg rolls, or buon with charbroiled beef and cha gio here. You leave here satisfied knowing that your money was well spent.
google avatar

Ricky L.

Yelp
took forever for a quick beef pho, and nobody seems to care, when finally it came, there's a plastic wrap inside the soup. ugly. have complained to the manager and he has taken it off the bill. don't think i will come back.
google avatar

Fernando A.

Yelp
This is a solid and inexpensive Vietnamese place. Nothing fancy, but some good, traditional Vietnamese dishes that most people will like. I have typically gotten the Pho whenever I have come here. But, recently I tried the Banh Hoi which was quite good, different and maybe better than Bun in my opinion. Though next time I may try one of the rice (Com) dishes. The Banh Xeo was ok. We had it a few times on our trip to Vietnam a few years ago, and it's not something you see often on menus here. Anyways, their version was ok, maybe a bit too stuffed to eat with your hands, and no rice paper to roll it up with, just lettuce. I like Saigon Eden. It's good and inexpensive, and coming from the LBC an easy place for me to meet family or friends from the Pasadena area.

Yelp
Delicious soup with many choices and variety in the menu. Best pho! Must get the fresh noodles and filet minion beef

Yelp
Very authentic delicious food. Simple restaurant. Go when you have time the menu is extensive.

Yelp
Have been coming here for a couple of years. Really like how convenient the location is and how many options there are on the menu! They have everything from sandwiches (for only $6) to rice dishes or noodles or soup! Parking is in a shared public structure but usually you can find a spot. The service could be better if they had more people dedicated to taking orders/giving checks. But when we came recently, it was only ONE lady doing it all. We came during the busy hour too so we had to raise our hand several times to get attention (or go up to the desk). I came with a group of 5 and everyone ordered Pho. I was the last to receive mine -__- and thought it was odd they brought it all out at different times. Make sure you enunciate cause my friend ordered extra Rare Beef to go with his Pho but they brought out a Red Bean drink for him instead She fixed it though and checked on us twice to make sure incase we needed something. The food is always delicious and that makes it worth to keep coming back! Prices are super reasonable too (my small bowl of Pho with rare steak was $10).
