Over the years, I’ve been to Saigon Grill on University Place a number of times so I was happy to see that they relocated over to my neighborhood. They replaced a Korean restaurant that formally occupied the space. I was pretty hungry, and I found the dishes, satisfying but somewhat lacking in interesting flavors and textures. Most of the dishes were passable, but mostly lackluster. The spring rolls were delicious and lightly fried. The service was friendly and competent. The room is nice enough, looks like a relatively quick and inexpensive remodel was done to the former Korean restaurant. I think they opened only recently, so I am hoping they will hit their stride soon. Since I live close by, I will give it another try in the near future.

Honestly I didn't think the food was that tasty. The calamari was OK. It was literally fried squid. No herbs, no black pepper, not much flavor. The soup was simply broth, chicken, and broken vermicelli. No vegetables whatsoever. No green onion. No Basel. No bean sprouts. I should have ordered the vegetable version. Otherwise the waiters were excellent. The restaurant is very clean and has private booths, small tables, and large tables.

Broth was delicious. They don't have the special combination pho like every other pho place though. But the large portion is good size and have a lot of noodles. Crispy spring rolls is a must try!

My ultimate favorite spot in NYC. Tasty foods, easy portion for great price. Things can not go wrong at this place. I usually order Cha Gio (spring roll) as an appetizer or Pho Bo during chilly time. *For Pho Bo, they have 2 sizes so it's suitable for any time. For the first timer, I would recommend Pad Thai & Pork Chop(comes w/rice) and you have option to choose whether you want the pork chop cut or not. *Make sure to pour or dip in the sauce that comes with. It makes the food more flavorful. *They used to carry Jalapeno pickles and they were my favorite but they don't carry anymore due to the pandemic.

Loved the vegetarian choices. Have been here multiple times with different group of friends ( recommended by me) and everyone of them enjoyed the food and ambience. Staff is super friendly. Even though am a vegetarian they manage to cater to your preference and taste. Recommended if you are in the Union Square area. The bar is good too with a good choice of alcohol. Met here couple of friends in the evening and it is overall fun place.

Customer for 10 years! Foods don’t change and price is always reasonable! Bun Sao is out of the world! Try the appetizer platter and taste all sorts of wonderful appetizers for $15! Ambience is great! Came here when I was single and now I am dining with my two kids!!!

So this is a great place for large groups. Not everyone has to be here before everyone is seated. The menu is huge so there’s probably something that can satisfy everyone. The portion are also very large. The food was average but to be expected and the service was nice. This is place really if you have 6+ people with minimal wait. Note the small pho is actually really small, I placed my hand for reference. But it works if you have a toddler.

It's not a authentic Vietnamese place, a Chinese version of Vietnamese food. The price is very good, and the servers are mostly nice. The pork chop is the closest thing to real Vietnamese food, and everything else is acceptable. This is a great lunch spot for nearby office people and college students.

Yelp
Saigon Market is a nice place to go if you're in the area and are in the mood for Asian cuisine. We went there for a late lunch since I was already in the area, after taking my son to Genius Gems, which was not too far away. It wasn't crowded and we walked right in. I ordered the soi nep, which is a sticky rice but I got it with coconut. That, combined with the Sauteed brocolli was good. It wasn't too heavy. My son had the house special fried rice which was delicious. It had everything except the pork (which we asked them to leave out). Overall, its a nice little ambiance if you wanted to come with a date or hang with friends. I would go again if in area, but wouldn't really make plans to go back.

Yelp
I wandered by this place yesterday and decided to try it out. I ordered Shrimp Summer Rolls and Lemongrass chicken. Shrimp summer roll: Tons of Vermicelli, tiny amount of salad, good mint flavor and shrimp cooked well. About 95% vermicelli, 2.5% shrimp, 2.5% veggies. I would have preferred more veggies and less vermicelli. Chicken lemongrass: Very big portion, chicken is tender and juicy, not even remotely spicy, the sauce is pretty thick. No lemongrass flavor whatsoever. Just an ok dish, not great, not bad, just ok. Service: The service was fine, kept on top of water refill. Overall: It is only ok, i likely won't go back again though just because there's better not far. While their portion sized are good, the food itself is just meh. Not good, not awful, not unique or memorable in any way.

Yelp
THEY ARE BACK! At a new location. Man did I, and everyone I know, miss this place! So glad it's back with the same excellent chefs! Still a large menu giving everyone a yummy satisfying option. Walk a few blocks over from their old location and throw them some love!

Yelp
I commuted almost 2 hours to come here for dinner with my husband (mostly for nostalgia). I made reservations and received confirmation via text. Upon arrival, it was closed. According to their website, they are closed Mondays, not Tuesdays, so I don't understand why they were closed. I used to go here since I was a kid (since the OG upper west side location on Broadway Ave. Yes, BROADWAY Ave, when they had less than about 10 tables.) With it's high price and all, I won't be traveling all this far to come back.

Yelp
The space is really gorgeous. We had lunch and the soups were OK but not memorable. I'm only moderately conversant with Vietnamese cuisine so I may have thought the food would have been a little more like Korean. All of the entrees were $22 and up whichl seemed a bit steep. I look forward to reviews from other Yelpers more familiar with Vietnamese food.

Yelp
Stopped by here the other day and happy to report that in terms of the food quality and taste, not much has changed from the previous location on University Pl when it was a community favorite. Famous for its big portions, we were happy this is still the case as well. The new space is smaller but pretty nice, bathrooms are very clean, but its not as packed as it was before during weekend lunch, although I suspect they are still probably doing well as a delivery/take-out business. I can't recall if their prices have even gone up since 2020, but if it has, its not by much, despite the inflation everywhere. Anyone wondering, yes this is the same old Saigon Market and the food and service will be what you remember.

Yelp
From past reviews, I learned this restaurant used to be located near Union Square. Union Square's loss is 14th Street's gain. I can't speak to how "authentic" the food is. What I CAN speak to is that it's delicious, portions are enormous, and the prices are more than fair. Service is friendly, but efficient. Others made comments about waiting to eat the spring rolls because they're piping hot. True. But they are SOOOOOOO good. So are the vermicelli noodles. So is the curry. We wanted to try papaya salad, but papaya is out of season so they won't make it. Bravo! Eat here. Saigon Market, welcome to the neighborhood! Stick around

Yelp
Good food, intimate, much smaller than the original near 14th st. Doesn't offer a lunch menu like the original.

Mattin D.

Yelp
Really good food and drinks at a good price! We came here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised to see cocktails were only $12ish for an extensive list of simple cocktails! The food was delicious as well -- I got the vegetarian curry and it was delicious and well worth the price, IMO. It felt like it could've been 2 portions. The service was kind and attentive as well. I'm excited to come back! :)

Yelp
Highly recommend the Saigon Beef. Always consistent and flavorful each time I get it.

Steffanie R.

Yelp
The staff here was lovely! We got here an hour before closing and asked if it would be a problem (and promised we would be quick) they were super welcoming and assured us it was no issue. The food was delicious! We got the beef pho- The restaurant was slowly emptying, by half til' closing we were the only ones there with the staff- they allowed us to pick the music that was playing which was super sweet! We finished up and got out of there before 10 and hope we caused them no delays- can't say enough about how great they were!!

Yelp
Solid neighborhood Vietnamese. Maybe not 100% the most authentic but delicious nonetheless. Pretty room, don't let ugly 14th Street scare you away. Also would be great for delivery. Not a new business, they've relocated from University Place where they had a long standing restaurant. Kind service. Welcome them to the west side where casual affordable restaurants worth frequenting are sorely lacking.

Dana K.

Yelp
My fave spot for vermicelli noodles. It's not fancy/nice. It's more of a quick dine-in spot. Service is OK, not great typical of a quick grab-and-go spot. I've been frequenting this spot over the years since 2015.

Debbie R.

Yelp
Love, love, love, this place. So excited they reopened. Food is extraordinary, great service and not over priced. Love their pork chop dinner, Beef and string beans and pho soup. Ribs are delicious as well. Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
My Friend and I used to frequent Saigon Market when it was located on University Place. We were happy to find out that they had not closed - just relocated. The new location is smaller and a bit difficult to find but the food is as good as ever. The spring rolls are very tasty and there is a vegetarian option. The entrees offer lots of choices. The spicy beef or chicken dishes are delicious. You can tell them how mild or spicy you like your order. The servers are excellent. We would like to thank Budi for not only being a great bartender but for patiently answering our menu questions. As I said, we had a hard time finding the restaurant. They could do with better signage but the meal was very enjoyable and we will return.

Lindsey G.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Spring rolls especially were scrumptious but don't eat them immediately my tongue was burnt. Also spicy and tasty beef is tasty but not super spicy. Word of advice: don't pour a lot of hot sauce on it. It does not end so well

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Authentic Vietnamese food with amazing friendly and attentive staff. Must order the La sa ga soup and the pork chops. Bun xao is another great dish. Right off the 14th st station so it's really easy to get to. Low key and no reservation needed - just great food and service.

Yelp
My family has loved saigon grill/ saigon market for the past twenty years. The quality and taste has never wavered and I'm so glad there's a 14th street location now. I highly recommend this hole in the wall!

Yelp
Saigon Market is a wonderful new addition to the neighborhood (14th St between 7 & 8th Ave). The Vietnamese food was authentic, unusual and very good with new tastes and textures. The crispy spring roll (Cha Gio) was delicious, the calamari was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Tom Nuong (Grilled Prawns) was wonderful and the pork chop was a complete delicious surprise The service was helpful, polite, and very efficient; the atmosphere was welcoming. A wonderful place for a meal, especially for new tastes and dishes.

Sharon M.

Yelp
We are thrilled to have the new Saigon Market with all of the delicious old favorites. The chicken bun xao, Bo luc loc, grilled pork chops and to yum ga we're outrageously delicious

Yelp
Dinner on Friday. Agree with first reviewer. Fast service, friendly staff, large portions. Had pork chops and beef and string beans. Will try pho next time.
