Best Restaurants in City Heights | Eater San Diego

"Even though its address is on University Avenue, you could drive along University 500 times and miss this place, since it’s in a strip mall facing 41st Street. But that turn on 41st is so worth it. The deli’s menu spreads across two broad panels behind the counter packed with choices. On one side: banh mi. On the other: smoothies. Part of the space is a small grocery store. For those in a rush, grab-and-go spring rolls are stacked on the counter. Saigon Sandwiches Deli (no relation to Saigon Restaurant on El Cajon Boulevard) also caters."

This place is amazing! I ordered the Vietnamese coffee (only $4.99 for a large) bbq beef banh mi, and mango banana boba smoothie and total was only $22. The owner Tram was so nice and brought my drinks out to me and even split my smoothie for me into 2 medium cups for my boys because she saw that they were sharing. They are so kind here and always providing service with a smile. They even gave my boys a few shrimp spring rolls on the house while we waited. I love supporting small family businesses like this especially when their food is delicious and their service is warm and welcoming just like you are apart of the family. Please give them a try if you are in the neighborhood of city heights!

Google
New to SD, been to a couple banh mi places and this has to be the best spot I’ve been to! First time here and got the dac biet (#3) and it was perfect. If you can’t get the OG traditional dac biet right, not worth trying anything else. Fresh meat, baguette nicely toasted. Pickled veggies done right. I like mine with extra pate and will definitely come back. Cash and card accepted.

DONT come here unless you’re trying to get SCAMMED!!! My friend & I ordered 2 drinks (#14 on the picture) that were posted as $5.50 each but when it came to the total they ended up charging us $15.50 (pre-tax) which didn’t add up as the total should have been $11 (pre-tax). When we told the employees something about it they had claimed to changed the prices which is something they hadn’t mentioned prior to paying. They didn’t offer any solution to the mistake like a refund or anything extra to make up the difference. This is a place i’ve been to numerous times so it really makes me wonder if they’ve done this before without me realizing.

Google
i’m telling you the way that this lady made this sandwich with so much flavor and love. I will marry her. The sandwich was really good. The portion size for the price was amazing. You do not find these types of ma and Pa shops anymore and this one is phenomenal. I recommend everyone going and trying out their food because it was so good 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!

Google
Pretty legit place for bahn mi. Big sandwiches, taste great, reasonable prices. I like the “A” house special and the egg sandwiches. Very friendly owner. The location is meant for take out, not really a place for sit down dinner.

Google
New ownership opened 6/9/2024. Running a great special buy 2 get 1 free. So we got 3 sandwiches for $17. Recommend the bbq pork and meatball over the house special. Only 2 tables so take your food to go. Thick crispy baguettes. My partner says they put something in it for flavor he hasn’t had on others and loves it. Said it’s one of the better spots in the area and will be the go-to place until we find another. Helps it is open later than other shops nearby. Also serve boba, Thai iced tea, and other beverages

Google
I visit San Diego often and have tried Banh Mi from many different shops, but this is by far my favorite. The sandwiches are not just delicious, they are also bigger and more affordable than other places. The Vietnamese coffee and smoothies are very tasty too. The shop is clean, and the girl at the counter is super friendly. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town.

Google
Found this hidden gem when I was in the area. Spring rolls were well priced and so good! My daughter had the banana mango smoothie and I had the salted carmel which was delish! Super nice owner which is a family run business. Her 6 year son is adorable and super friendly. Would return many times if I lived closer.

Yelp
We loved this!! Kept going to places that didn't have banh mi & found this one finally It's a small place, pretty much meant for take-out, but love the quick service & affordable. We also were given fried shrimp samples while we waited. Ordered the #3 (special/cold cuts) & #6 (bbq chicken) sandwiches and both were really fantastic! The baguette had the perfect amount of crispy & soft, so that first bite was very satisfying, as well as the rest of the bites. The BBQ Chicken had a great flavor, plus being warm was so perfect for the overcast, drizzling day. It was even good when I ate the second half after working out & didn't reheat it. The Special has a peppery spice to it that makes it quite exciting every bite. Sharing both was a great balance of flavors, if you split these with someone! Looking forward to my return

Yelp
This Vietnamese sandwich shop is under new ownership so we came to check out their grand opening special of free drink and bánh mì que with social media post. Upon coming in, we were greeted right away. We saw there were several other customers inside eating regular bánh mì. There are about 3-4 small tables inside with stools to sit on. The shop looked clean and menus were easy to read. Service was very friendly and the lady recommended her favorite the fresh fruit tea, but sadly they were sold out. We got the Thai tea and milk tea with boba instead. She was nice enough to throw in free fried shrimp for us The Thai tea was decent, but the star was the milk tea. Usually milk tea has a black tea base, but this one was fragrantly jasmine and delicious! The bánh mì que is a new style of sandwich that is shorter and skinnier. It was filled with a good amount of char siu meat and veggies. Based on the quality of these items, I'd come back to try their regular bánh mì if I was in the area and craving it.

Yelp
It's an unassuming shop that has a good variety of banh mis (sandwhiches) among other typical Vietnamese Deli selections. The sandwhiches were pretty good and fairly priced. They definitely hit the spot when you've got that craving! The staff is very friendly, if a little bit sparse. They do work quickly to get yoru order prepared. I liked their selection of banh mis, they've got the classics and few others for the uninitiated. The bread was great, crunchy exterior and soft on the inside. The shop isn't much, but if you're there for a quick bite it's not that much of a factor - cause all you want is that banh mi flavor! Would return to grab another bite!

Yelp
4/5 stars. I wish it was more juicy. Overall was good. The bread was a little dry. Filling was not enough. But i like the fact they sell beef banh mi.

Alban H.

Yelp
Best boba I have ever tried and the sandwiches are really good. The coconut boba and taro boba are my go to for drinks and the bbq chicken sandwich is always on point.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place, best Vietnamese coffee in San Diego! The sandwich is delicious. Very nice staffs! Highly recommended. The coffee is authentic

Yelp
Bring cash if you don't want to get charged for using a credit card. The lady up front (also the store owner) said that they had this shop for about a year. I wanted my banh mi without mayo and she was like "why?! My mayo is different. It's very good! Here I'll let you try it. If you don't like it, then I won't put it on". So I gave it a try and she was right, it was different, but it is still mayo and I just don't like mayo. She made my sandwich without mayo and it was good! The banh bao is standard size and is good too. The lady said that they make everything fresh. If you're looking to get good homemade banh mi, this place is worth checking out!

Yelp
I don't remember how long it's been here, but my ex used to get banh mi here, because it was closer, and back then we didn't have any Lee's sandwich around, we might have something else like K sandwich, Cali baguettes, Paris bakery, and Ba Le, even A Chau, all of those to go places that sell banh mi, trying to compete for the better price, but it's all came down to the quality of the bread first, then we can start talking about the type of meats which came in between the bread, I mean nowadays we have so many more options, they're at best between Lee and Cali for the prices, but for the bread they can't beat Paris, that's my take, finally my grandpa still come here for smoothies, he said it was fresh, he bought me an avocado one, I think it was all right.

Yelp
I was told to try this place out by someone very familiar to City Heights. It's located in a little strip mall with loads of parking right off of University Ave. The shop is very quaint with a simple menu and a small selection of boba slushies. I personally went with the bánh mì đặc biệt, which was perfect after a long day. The service is excellent, where the employee helped me decide which sandwich I should get. It was just the right amount of crunchy, and the meat was really tasty. One thing to consider is that it may take long for your food to come out due to how busy it gets, so definitely carve out a bit of time if you're visiting

Yelp
I was in the area and was craving for a Vietnamese sandwich, and decided to check out Saigon Sandwiches & Deli. They have a variety of different sandwiches and drinks that are made to order to choose from, as well as premade entrees you can choose from. I ended up ordering their #7 bbq beef from the nice lady working and it was so tasty! The bread was super soft and warm and this place does not skimp out on the meat and toppings - they packed my sandwich with plenty of pickled veggies and cilantro. I approve of their Banh mi sandwiches and will be coming back if I am ever in the area again!

Erica H.

Yelp
They have good sandwiches but they mess up orders often and the sandwiches are really expensive. Today my friend went to buy a boba and two sandwiches, a chicken sandwich and a vegetarian sandwich. They forgot his boba and and gave him a chicken sandwich and a beef sandwich instead of a vegetarian sandwich. They also charged him $17 for just the sandwiches.

Yelp
This was one of my go to spots for banh mi, but that has changed. It's under new ownership and doesn't taste the same, the flavor just wasn't there for me. The sugarcane drink was not good either, it didn't taste like sugarcane and had too much calamansi/ orange flavor.
google avatar

Alfonso N.

Yelp
Very nice woman behind the counter. Bahn mi was not good. Old bread crumbled apart, meat was super chewy and fatty. Eggrolls had good flavor but were probably fried twice so they were pretty dark, dipping sauce was good
google avatar

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while as it's a little bit of a drive for me and parking is terrible. Stopped by early in the morning and found parking. Ordered the dac biet banh mi and bao bun. Finally a good sandwich! I have been to so many banh mi places closer to my house and have been so disappointed. So glad to finally find a decent banh mi shop.

Yelp
My experience this time around was completely different & *** sadly *** NOT for the better. The woman who waited on me was initially friendly enough, however when I returned to pick up my sandwich + drink the vibe changed completely. Just to clarify I purchased a bbq pork sandwich (banh mi) w/ extra veggies ($6) and also got a large Vietnamese iced coffee (also $6 + super YUMMM!!). The first thing I noticed upon picking up my food us that my drink had a good 2 inches of empty space at the top. This was bugging me bc I had the $6 price tag for my [beloved] drink @ the forefront of my mind. When I spoke up + asked the lady if she could fill my drink the rest of the way she replied "I didn't want to add more ice but I can add more ice! It already has 5 shots! It's very strong!!" I was taken aback by her response bc she promptly shot me down w/ absolutely bo consideration for the request I was making. In my view, a business should purchase cups to go with the size of the beverage that customers are paying for. This was not an issue the last time I came here but even more striking was that this lady was not interested in any sort of peaceful democratic engagement. After she refused to give me more coffee or milk or whatever, she went on to speak loudly in Vietnamese to her coworker. It was very reminiscent of what it can be like to get your nails done @ a gossipy nail salon. Awkward, uncomfortable, & just not a hospitable environment.. Furthermore, the first couple bites of my sandwich really killed it for me. The very first bite had zero love in it - 2 say the least LOL... It was a cow-tongue sized piece of straight fat + it was even kinda shaped like a tongue. I was trying to be cool/understanding about things, especially because the french bread the sandwich had been made with +Still Did+ look delicious . I took another bite + got a giant, non-proportionate piece of jalepeño that set my mouth on fire + just kinda ruined everything else for me. I'm docking one more star because while I was sitting in the restaurant eating I had the chance to observe several customer interactions w/ the same woman who helped me. In short, let me just say it was bad. I was there when she answered the telephone & said to the customer "I cannot talk bc we are busy!! If you need food you need to come in person!!" Then promptly hung up on them. The whole place needed a whole new vibe, maybe they could play some music @ least?!!! After every customer who came in, the two workers immediately rushed to the back of the restaurant to continue gossiping + to chat w/ ppl on the speaker of their cell phones. I might come back here but not for the food + definitely not for the ambiance!!! I never give two star reviews so trust & believe that this place fully earned it today.

Yelp
Chill place serving freshly made bahn mi for a reasonable price! The woman behind the counter was so sweet, and made our sandwiches to order. This is my go to place to pick up sandwich/snacks for a hike or before a long flight. Love the egg bahn mi! Next time I come back I'll need to try their egg rolls and viet iced coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing as always. Haven't been there for a long time. The best Bahn Mi in San Diego. Worth the drive. Also their egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce are amazing!

Yelp
Came here for the first time with my Vietnamese bestie while we were in the area. The place is cute, small and only one table inside with a few chairs to sit in. We were quickly attended and got our order in, I asked the bbq chicken and Arizona green tea. My friend put in the order and she ordered a third sammich for later bc there's a buy 3 for $16(?) special, which is a great deal! After we placed our order she tells me that she ordered a sugarcane juice!! Now, I'm from Miami and Cubans in Miami make sugarcane juice but they call it Guarapo. I was so sad when she told me they had that and I didn't order it, but I'm ded going back to try it! Back to my food, although I had ordered the bbq chicken, there was nothing bbq about it. Pretty sure it was just the regular chicken, and it was still delicious so I'm not complaining. I just wish they had more chicken or even turkey options bc I don't eat pork and it seemed like that's what they had the most of. Anyways, def a good little lunch spot for a fast yummy meal.

Yelp
I had many different ban mi's across san diego and even up and down California.. but this place is by far my favorite. The bread is well toasted crispy and light on the inside, makes to be more enjoyable

Yelp
I recently stumbled upon Banh Mi Saigon, and it's become my new favorite spot! I tried the Banh Mi Special and Vietnamese Iced Coffee - both were incredibly delicious, and the coffee was the perfect size at a reasonable price. The owner is very kind, friendly, helpful, and understanding. Besides the fantastic banh mi, they offer fresh sushi rolls and reasonably priced Vietnamese cuisine party trays. Parking was easy around 9 a.m., and for a quick visit, you can call ahead for pick-up. I highly recommend Banh Mi Saigon to everyone- I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Teanna B.

Yelp
At first glance there isn't much to this shop, the storefront is simple and there's a few tables inside. However, I got the grilled pork banh mi ($6.50 including tax) and was really impressed! The bread had just enough crunch on the outside that it didn't grate the roof of your mouth and was nice and fluffy on the inside. The meat to vegetable ratio of the banh mi was just what I wanted, although my friend would've preferred just a little more vegetables in theirs. But they do have the option to add on more meat or vegetables for an extra cost, so I may have to try that next time!

Yelp
I came on Saturday afternoon at around 2 PM (6/25/2022) with friends on a hot summer day. Freshly Pressed Sugar Cane Juice - We ordered the freshly pressed sugar cane juice. A lady behind the counter to the back of the place put multiple stalks of sugar cane into a pressing machine to press the juice for us. It was thick, super sweet, and the taste was sugar cane supreme! Happy to know a place to get a fix of freshly pressed sugar cane juice - thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
They have great drinks here so fresh and not a bad price either I always by bread from this place don't know if they make it fresh or it's delivered but their rolls are so fresh and soft!! Bonnet sandwiches are bomb!!
google avatar

Bruce J.

Yelp
Needing several sandwiches for a Saturday camping trip, came back here for a second time last Friday. First time back since last year. The sandwiches were just avg, not that great back then. I placed the order with the lady at the front for 5 sandwiches, maybe the new owner not sure. She was saying how the ingredients are so much better and fresher. I'll tell you she was right. Prices are a excellent value at $5.99 on all the sandwiches and they all tasted very good. Ordered the grilled pork,BBQ beef and BBQ pork. She was very helpful and friendly. I use to go to K sandwiches which is closer to my home, but I'm going here from now on for my vietnamese sandwiches now. My friends all gave the 2 thumbs up approval. Give this place a try, you will thank me.

Yelp
1st time coming here, and loved it. They where so polite and kind. Sandwich was delicious and of course the iced coffee was on point and size is perfect!! I will definitely be coming back often.
google avatar

HungryNik T.

Yelp
I have been going to this place for the longest time but I think they change ownership. The sandwiches taste different and they are not generous with fillings/meats like before. On top of that the buy 2 get one free deal is gone, there is 1.50 cent fee for credit card payment now, and the price has gone up quite a lot. Although the last factor might be due to inflation. Given everything else I am pretty sure ownership changed because the new people are very pushy trying to upsell everything else.
google avatar

Juzenne C.

Yelp
been here several times for bahn mi and it's solid! their bread is crunchy on the outside, soft in the inside. the mayo they put in the sandwich is delicious. I usually ask for extra veggies for 50 cents more because I love pickled veggies. For $7, a solid Bahn mi and fast service!
google avatar

Yesenia H.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and I would definitely recommend. I love their chicken bahn mi, Thai tea, and their chicken plate.
google avatar

Jasmine F.

Yelp
My family and I were craving banh mi sandwiches for lunch and came across this place. There are no tables inside or outside of the shop so you basically have to order to-go! I ordered 3 sandwiches which was ended up being $16. It was part of their deal, otherwise 1 sandwich was about $6 depending on the type of sandwich you order. I ordered 1 BBQ pork and 2 BBQ beef sandwiches. Both sandwiches had the same special sauce which made the 2 different sandwiches taste quite similar but very delicious! I just didn't like how the sandwich (especially pork) was quite fatty. The bread had a nice crisp on the outside and was soft on the inside! Super delicious! I also found out you can buy just the bread ($1 for 2). I'll most likely be back for more. Customer service was great and there are tons of smoothie/boba options as well!
google avatar

Armida P.

Yelp
I normally do not write reviews however, this place was excellent quality tasting food and I recommend you tell everyone about this place 6$ sandwiches and 5 dollar boba.
google avatar

Yelp
Good service and good food! I love them all. The cook is awesome even gave us egg rolls to try it for free! Come and visit this location. You will never regret it!

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches, clean place, service was nice and friendly. I have never tried anything like this I had the chicken Vietnamese sandwich and I can't wait to be back! You can't beat the price, and it's convenient. Personality I like to come here pick up some food and head to the zoo or park!

Yelp
$6 Banh Mi! Beats Westminster/Garden Grove pricing! Yum yum yum come get your sandwiches!

Yelp
I've been a customer of this fine establishment for a few years now. We live a few miles away and have a lot of options for Bahn mi but this is my top choice in San Diego. The meat and veggies are always fresh and the baguettes have that perfect combo of soft insides and crusty crust! Ohhh yea this is the place. The owners are super friendly and well warmly welcome you in every time.

gracie g.

Yelp
Roaches this is disgusting I've been coming here for years since they had different owners all the owner said was I'll make you another one wtf noooo
google avatar

Rosa E.

Yelp
First time at this place and immediately loved the service and the food. Tram was awesome in helping us pick out some items. The Bao was amazing!!! we also had a BBQ pork bah min sandwich and lumpia. All delicious!

Long V.

Yelp
The man that work here might be the owner. Anyway he is freaking rude and don't know how to be respectful. My coworker come here and purchase plain bread all the time (six for $5) This rude man was busy and behide the counter wanted to charge me $1.50 each so six would be $9. This guy is so stupid he need a calculator for that. Anyway I might come back if he is not working. All the girls that work here are cool and pretty. That dumb man need to learn from these girls ‍

Yelp
Best Banh Mi bread I think Ive ever had. Not sure what that vegetarian patty is but it is good. Really nice sandwich. Was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy. We will be back.

Yelp
As a Vietnamese it pains me to leave a negative review but I had to. We drove from Los Angeles and arrived around 5 pm and was craving some Banh Mi. These was highly rated on yelp and didn't look like a place that bought reviews nor a super clean western place on a beachside that would artificially inflate the rating. This was a legit hold in the wall place. Unfortunately the Banh mi. We had Banh mi dac biet and Banh Mi Bo Nuong and I have to say it was flavorless without any pate nor butter on the bread. The bread was stale and slightly hard on the inside. The cold cuts and beef tasted like cardboard dipped in lite soy sauce and pepper. I was not able to take more than 2 bites. The rest of the family was able to finished the food. My veteran dad, who ate anything, while in a Vietnamese prison and never complained of food in his life said... this sandwich "was not too good". I don't know if the store was about to close and didn't have any ingredients or chef left for the day and the owners, who seemed nice, had to make the sandwiches. In brief, I hope you get better. I hope it was a bad day. I pray you survive because if you were in Westminster or LA you would not have made it.

Vivi E.

Yelp
Wow! The food here was so delicious and affordable. With the rise of inflation I was shocked that I paid for a sandwich, smoothie and added tip for $14 (sandwich was about $6, smoothie with boba was $5 and $3 tip). The bahn mi was delicious with plenty of fresh vegetables. The lady who helped me was very kind and made me feel in community with her :) There's 2 or 3 tables inside so there is the option to sit there but the food is packaged more in a to-go style. Great lunch option and I've already been telling friends to visit :)

Yelp
While visiting family in San Diego, a relative who resides in the City Heights neighborhood suggested hitting up Saigon Sandwiches and Deli, since they know I'm a banh mi fanatic. This place is very similar to every other Vietnamese deli; they sell lots of pre-maid foods, desserts, bubble tea drinks, and of course banh mi sandwiches. This place's shtick is that they offer a "3 for 2 deal" meaning, buy two sandwiches and get one free. Now, that's a pretty enticing deal, but is it worth it? I ordered two combos and one chicken. During my visit, I continually saw trays of fresh bread being brought out of the oven, so that was encouraging. However, when had my first bite of the combo, I was disappointed that there was hardly ANY filling inside the Viet style baguette. Oh sure, there was plenty of pickled carrot, daikon radish, and cilantro, but very little meat. The proportion in the sandwich was in my estimation only 10-15% meat. The chicken sandwich was not good all. Shredded chicken was dosed in soy sauce for a very stringy and salty consistency and flavor. I guess if you're going for quantity, then Saigon Sandwiches and Deli isn't bad. For about $10, one gets three sandwiches which will definitely fill you up for a couple of hours. But otherwise, very average compared to the better banh mi shops in Garden Grove or Westminster areas in Cali.

Yelp
It's been hard to find good Viet sandwiches here in San Diego. I'm so spoiled by what I get in OC and SGV. That's said, they do offer the deal of B2G1 free. They don't use French baguettes (not the skinny long ones) but instead, the fluffy ones. It's not dense, airy, and tastes good toasted. One thing I must say is that they def skimp out on the meat. I ordered Thit Nguoi sandwich with the veggies on the side and as you can see in the photos, it's pretty sad. I actually had to cut off some of the bread so that the ratio of bread to meat would make sense for me. I also don't like that they put soy sauce on the sandwich as it makes it super salty. Perhaps they could've gone easy on it but I wouldn't know that unless I tried once. Also ordered the drinks. It's B1G1. It's about $4.59 plus 50 cents extra for boba. Thai tea was a bit watered down, but it quenches our thirst. Boba was not good. I also got the sugar cane drink - I was quite disappointed that they diluted that one as well. I've never had diluted sugar cane drink but I guess one should expect it given the price. Overall, it's okay. I'd go back for the deal or if I happen to be in the area. Maybe more of the latter. Parking is ample here. Staff is nice. Oh, and if you're looking to buy reusable face masks, they have it here for pretty cheap.

Yelp
Came here the other day for 2 banh mi and a mango smoothie, we got the bbq pork one and the xu mai one ! My bf loved his and I did too as well. One thing that really grabbed my attention was how nice and caring their workers were !!! As we were waiting ( the wait can be a while , the only thing they need to work on but understandable bc I think I only saw 2 workers including her working the reg) the owner i believed asked me how I could make the place more appealing to people in my age category and gave us free traditional Vietnamese candy . You can really tell this business is her baby and she's trying really hard for it to be successful. Would definitely come back here to support it.

Yelp
In a world of cross-cultural food proposals, where fusion makes for unusual bedfellows, this unassuming deli offer us the classic Bahn Mi Sandwich: sweet pickled veggies, perfect, crunchy, crumbly baguette, just the right amount of condiments and meat. And good size too, at a very reasonable price!! Let the bourgeoisie pay twice as much for a fraction of the quality! Make Saigon your go to for Bahn Mi!!
google avatar

T C.

Yelp
Only 2 thinly slices of meat. they say buy 2 get one free but technically you're paying $4 per sandwiches and there are NO meat what so ever . stuffed with veggies and onions only. nó pate no mayo neither . they've gotten greedy you're pretty much eating bread only
google avatar

Gordon D.

Yelp
It's not really worth it. They don't have a lot of meat in the their dac biet sandwich. If you want to buy a 3 for the price of 2, maybe there's value. But for $6 this is a joke.
google avatar

Jillian W.

Yelp
Can't beat 2 for 1 on select drinks and boba!! Pair that with buy 2 bahn mi get 1 free and you can feed 2 for just ~$15. We got the green tea milk tea and pennyworth juice with boba. They were both really good but the boba was a little undercooked and hard. We got 3 veggie bahn mi. The bread is super crusty and delicious. It was good but wish there was a little more filling. For the price though, can't complain too much. Very much a hole in the wall and worth checking out.

Yelp
Wish I liked this place more. I want to support local mom and pop shops, but this was just a miss. It's a buy 2, get 1 free deal, but, the beef sandwich was very scant on the beef. The meats altogether (I got chicken, pork and beef) were not distinctly flavorful, mostly tasted like soy sauce. They also put fresh white onion in the sandwiches, which came out very strong and overpowered the whole thing. Not even sure if there was pate or butter on them, these little condiments make the sandwich! I don't usually see onions in banh mi, or if I have, they're pickled, and milder. Just seemed like a lot of fillers. The coconut jello was as expected, and the steamed meat bun bao was still good and soft after zapping in the microwave 2 days later, from the fridge. At the least the bread seemed nice and crispy fresh, after the toasting. They use the fat, French rolls, not the thinner baguettes, btw. It's in a sketch part of town, too, there was a homeless psych guy kinda hanging out outside the door. Didn't seem to bother anyone, but you always want to be aware of your surroundings; you never know what might go down! I've been harassed by homeless while waiting for food before :/

Yelp
Vietnamese coffee is buy 1 get 1 free. Bánh bôt lôc provided to go at the counter. Some of the spring rolls don't have noodles and they're delicious! Pickled veggies, lettuce and pork sausage 3 for $5 along with all their other togo foods at the counter. They also do party trays starting at $30 amazing deal and incredibly fresh
