Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to visit in Ho Chi Minh City. I really enjoyed my time here. The area is full of green trees, colorful flowers, and many different kinds of animals. It’s a very nice place for walking, relaxing, and taking good photos. The garden is clean and well organized, and the staff take care of the area properly. The zoo has many interesting animals like elephants, tigers, giraffes, monkeys, and birds. It’s also a good educational place for children and families to learn about nature and wildlife. The botanical garden part is amazing too, with many tropical plants and flowers. You can sit in the shade, enjoy the calm environment, and feel fresh air even inside the busy city. The entrance ticket price is 60,000 VND, which is very reasonable and totally worth the experience. There are also some food stalls and drink shops inside if you want to rest or eat something. I really liked the peaceful atmosphere and friendly staff service. This is one of the oldest zoos in Asia, and it still keeps a natural and historic charm. I highly recommend visiting Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens when you come to Ho Chi Minh City. It’s truly the green heart of the city.

The entrance to the Saigon Zoo is very affordable, making it a nice option for a casual outing. The place has a really positive and lively atmosphere, filled with families, kids, and locals enjoying their day. It's quite a large area, so walking through it can take some time-especially under the hot weather-but it's worth it if you take your time and explore different sections. My favorite part was definitely the bears. They wer surprisingly friendly and even waved at visitors when people offered them food, which was both funny and heartwarming to watch. The zoo overall feels like a mix of local charm and old-fashioned simplicity, giving you a glimpse of how Vietnamese families enjoy their weekends together. If you don't mind the heat and want to experience something authentic and relaxing, it's a nice place to spend a few hours surrounded by nature and cheerful energy.

We decided to spend the afternoon at the Saigon Zoo before our evening flight. I had visited a few years ago and wasn’t particularly impressed, but I’m glad I returned. There has clearly been a lot of work put into the zoo, and the experience is now so much better. We were able to see meerkats, otters, bears, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, iguanas, and a wide variety of birds—plus so much more. The zoo is quite spacious, offering plenty of shade and walking areas, which makes it easy to explore without feeling crowded. Another highlight is the affordability of the entrance fee, which makes it accessible to families and budget travellers. There are also interactive feeding zones that add to the experience and make it more engaging for visitors of all ages. Overall, Saigon Zoo is well worth a visit if you have a few hours to spare in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s a relaxing and enjoyable way to see a wide range of animals in the heart of the city.

It was a lovely overcast day, warm but not too hot. Most creatures were happy putting on a bit of a display. There were several school groups and several tourist, completely relaxed strolling through the zoo. Some enclosures were closed for maintenance or upgrade. We had a great time on the rides; the roller coaster is perfect for that little adrenaline kick you might need.

The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden is a sprawling green oasis in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, offering a refreshing escape from the urban hustle. As one of the oldest zoos in the world, it holds a significant place in the city's history and provides a unique experience for visitors of all ages. The park is a pleasant surprise, with its vast grounds filled with ancient trees and a wide variety of plants. It's not just a zoo; the botanical garden aspect is a major draw, providing a beautiful and tranquil environment for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. The peaceful atmosphere and the sounds of nature make it a perfect place to relax and unwind. While some of the animal enclosures may not meet modern standards, the zoo is home to a diverse collection of creatures, from majestic elephants and big cats to a variety of birds and reptiles. It's clear that it is a popular spot for local families, and the low entry price makes it an accessible and enjoyable day out. Beyond the animals and plants, the complex also houses the Museum of Vietnamese History, adding a cultural and educational dimension to the visit. You can easily spend several hours here, exploring the grounds, observing the animals, and even enjoying some of the amusement park-style rides available. For those seeking a quiet retreat with a mix of history, nature, and wildlife, the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden is a worthwhile destination.

60K for entrance fees and no need to book in advance. Busy on weekends and more fun with kids. It's big zoo and need a time to spend more than half of a day, there will be restaurants and coffee shop inside (don't sell beer*). Plus there are zoology & Antonmy museums inside the zoo. Cultural museum has a separate entrance fees (I thought it was 30K). Good place to spend your day time and chill.
