Why Do We Call Chicken ‘Chicken’ But Cow Meat ‘Beef’? | Eater
"The supermarket's Basics brand served as a dependable source of cheap staples, enabling the author to stretch a tight student budget and rely on inexpensive, no‑frills ingredients while learning to cook away from subsidized dining." - C Pam Zhang
The toilets in this Sainsbury’s store have been out of order for a long time — and not just one, all of them. How is it possible that every single toilet is out of order at the same time? What a coincidence — or more like a complete lack of care from management. It’s been ages and still no action has been taken. Are the managers or higher-ups just ignoring this issue? What exactly is the responsibility of the branch director if even basic customer facilities are left unusable for this long? This level of neglect is completely unacceptable and shows no respect for customers.

Great Store, But the Parking is a Nightmare!
I generally like this store, but the parking situation and traffic light system are absolutely chaotic. Yesterday, I was stuck queuing for an hour just to exit the car park. The layout is so poorly designed that frustration boiled over—there were arguments, cars dangerously exiting through pedestrian walkways, and others simply giving up.
This is diabolical, unsafe, and completely unacceptable. A car park should never lead to this level of stress and risk. Until this is resolved, I won’t be returning. The infrastructure is a complete disaster.

Large supermarket close to the city. Excellent transport links but most importantly a large car park for shoppers, 90min free parking.
The front of the store has been redesigned and the car park is now on one level in the front of the store. The store is good size with all the usual products, lots of self checkouts but the end of the queue is awkwardly positioned and you can't always tell when a checkout is empty.
There is an Argos collection point insid. There are toilets for customers.

Decent store itself. Exiting the car park is ridiculous on busy days. Also, it would be nice if the security people moved the Junkies away from the main entrances and car park. All you get is 'Spare some change!'. I've been approached at my car too by heroin addicts looking for money. Probably very intimidating for female shoppers. Grim!

been coming here for over 25 years and I always found it to be fairly good- until the advent of these stupid self checkouts. They are really forcing people to use these by not opening any of the regular tills; the attentiveness of the staff when inevitable problems arise leaves much to be desired, to put it mildly.
I no longer purchase alcohol here as I have better things to do with my time than wait, for the third or forth time for one of the attendants to notice me.
Shame on you Sainsbury's

A member of staff is always shouting at full volume to alert customers to tills, they could move towards customers so not requiring the loud shouting, just lazy service and it feels like a street market!
5 things I wanted were out of stock on shelves, sadly not unusual.
Generally store needs better cleaning, shelves are often grubby.
I often visit a larger store than this one and rarely experience the above.
25/08/25 Been in today, no shouting at the self service tills, makes such improvement in shopping experience. Couldn't say I found it to be cleaner but stocks were better for my requirements today

**Review for Sainsbury’s Whitechapel**
I am compelled to share my disappointing experience at the Sainsbury’s store in Whitechapel. It is incredibly frustrating to find that all the toilets in the store have been out of order for an extended period. This situation raises serious concerns about the management's attentiveness to basic customer needs.
It is hard to believe that every single toilet could be out of order at the same time without any action being taken. This neglect reflects a significant lack of care from the management team. As a customer, I find it unacceptable that essential facilities are left unusable for such a long duration, especially given that some customers may have medical conditions that require immediate access to restrooms.
Had I known that the toilets were out of order prior to my visit today, I would have opted to drive to the nearby Asda or Tesco, where I could complete my shopping comfortably without this inconvenience. The branch director and higher-ups must take responsibility and address this issue promptly. Ignoring basic customer facilities not only shows a lack of respect but also undermines the overall shopping experience.
I sincerely hope that Sainsbury’s management will take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that their facilities meet the needs of all customers moving forward.

I was really happy last time I shopped there. They know that this is a really busy supermarket so they made it a very fast flowing checkout queue nicely organised and well looked after. I'm happy to recommend it to everyone.

Yelp
All I have to say is buy the Sainsbury Brand products: honey, cereal, ketchup, frozen fish fingers, ramen, jam, wine, bubbily water, the list goes on and on. They're all made in the same factory, you know.
You'll walk away with a full bag of groceries, a full wallet, and eventually, a full stomach.

Yelp
I love this store! It's got all that a large supermarket has to offer as well as household items. Look out for the weekly specials - if you keep your eyes peeled you can save a lot.
There are lots of self service aisles too, which speeds up the check out process.
I hope that once the car park high rise is finished, the store does not flood with a lot more people and cause shopping chaos!

Yelp
This is a big Sainsbury's that has the full works. It is a busy store, but if you can handle the crowds, you can easily do a weekly shop here.

Yelp
Sainsbury's is a great supermarket. Loads on offer and deals are great to.
This is one of the bigger Sainsbury's around, large store which sells clothes, entertainment such as DVD's, games & books. A huge grocery range to choose from and a plus with on the go food as well. Staffs have been trained well and are friendly offering to pack bags for you even if it is only one or two items. They are smiley and talkative.
The Taste the Difference range on offer is unique and on most lines worth that extra little bit of money for a premium quality. Sainsbury Basic range is also adequate.
Good to see Sainsbury's doing deals on games recently, picked a few bargains in the last few weeks.
Big car park so parking is not an issue, a petrol station as well to fill the gas up.
