Beautiful setting with a vibrating floor to the drum beat. Most of the seats are sold as standing room only. A few seats on a balcony at a higher price are sold too. Which I highly recommend . Better viewing area with seats. Ear plugs are a must if you wish to conserve your hearing. Various bars and snacks are available. The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. The only problem I had was getting out of the crowd, since it is packed with standing people and many people would not let you through. Also if you have any difficulty with balance, it is hard to navigate through with so many people. Standing on your feet is about 4 hours from the beginning to the end of the concert.

i saw I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME here back in november and had a great time! i’m super short but i was still able to see the stage really well. they staff were really nice and did a good job of handing out water to people in the crowd who needed it! really cool venue, definitely will be seeing more shows here!

Amazing place to see a concert. Friendly staff at the bar, good sound. Location is a bit dodgy at night 🤷‍♂️

Google
Great Venue and an amazing staff !! I wish I could give this place more stars! Shoutout to you guys for looking out for me ! I unfortunately fainted from being dehydrated during the Diggy Graves show and when I awoke , the staff was super accommodating making sure I had fluids (gave me poweraid and bottles of water!) , promoted us to a booth so I could sit down , and had the EMTs check me out ! Thank you all immensely!! I really appreciate it and will be back soon enough !! Apologies for passing out on y'all , that was super embarrassing lol You guys rock !!🙏🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥

Google
Old school Concert venue. Shaped loe a shoebox with a small upper level balcony with 2 or 3 rows of seats, if you want to spend extra money on a birds eye view of the stage. Also has a bar downstairs if the crowd is big enough. Always happy when one of my bands performs here

Google
Seen hippie sabotage and omg my life is complete!!!!!! I can't wait to see them again already. Saint Andrew's Hall was an intimate type of venue too totally worth the 2 hour drive. I will definitely be back to see more bands there.

Google
My first time there was for the Metal Concert (NoCure, Heavensgate, etc) and I must say I had a very good time. The drinks were great The atmosphere was definitely a vibe can't wait to come back for my next concert

Google
Way too many people crammed into this venue. I have been to plenty of sold out shows at other venues, close to this size too, and have always been able to stand and enjoy the show but not this one. Everyone couldn’t even fit into the standing room to view the concert! They had overflow standing in the hallway outside of where the actual concert was happening. Staff were rude and very pushy too! Yelling at you to leave as soon as the show is over. All together just a horrible experience. Even if my favorite artist was playing at this venue, I wouldn’t go. Waste of money.

Yelp
I've been to this venue for quite a few concerts for a little over a decade now and have always had a fantastic experience! The staff is all very kind, and are truly open to help in any way/shape they can. I truthfully love the simplicity of this venue, it's very straightforward in every aspect , not a lot you can mix up. They usually have the coat check open which is especially useful during the winter, but you can even check your merch in while you enjoy the show! It's a cashless venue and they do also take apple pay! Another notable aspect that I love is that they have free water, they have little coolers everywhere with plastic cups next to them and you're able to go grab some whenever! They don't have their own designated parking lot/spaces, but there's a parking lot quite literally right next to it, and plenty of parking around the corner as well! I recommend using parkwhiz and getting it beforehand as they usually double/triple the price the day of!

Yelp
Recently went to my first concert here and the venue was amazing. All the staff we met were very friendly. The venue even offered free water cups in the back. The whole building is very historic and beautiful to go through! Cannot wait for my next show here next month!!

Yelp
Awesome little venue with some great sound, large bars for drinks and a great show by the Drive By Truckers!

Yelp
One of the best music venues for rock and metal in the entire city. It's always a great vibe with good staff watching out for the crowd. Plenty of drink options. Safe parking reasonably priced. Love the historic vibe.

Yelp
I've been to many concerts here throughout the years - it's definitely for "smaller" artists and is a much more intimate space. It's a small hall with the main ground level, which is just completely flat all the way to the stage with a bar on one side. There's a wrap around "balcony" that lines the edges a floor up if you want a vantage point, it's normally extra $$ for this "upgrade," but if I'm going to a concert here, I kind of like the intimacy of the GA ground on the ground level, so that's where you'll find me! This place is wonderful and just exactly what you might expect from a small concert venue. It's a little grimy, a little run down, but it just adds to the charm of the place, and it's right in the heart of downtown Detroit as well! Love it!

Shawn D.

Yelp
Been coming here for years but after my last experience I'm not sure if I'll be coming back. I went to the front bottoms concert and there was obviously no control or regulations on the amount of tickets sold and the venue was packed all the way into the lobby to the point where the band vocalized their concern multiple times and asked people to stop crowd surfing and moshing for their safety (didn't do that at other shows where I saw them) had to watch the concert that my gf got me for our anniversary in the basement on a screen. Saw jack Kay's was coming to town and lost my will to go when I saw it was at this venue again.

Yelp
When here last night, took my daughter and her best friend to go see chase Atlantic. I was blown away by the renovations and the upgrades to everything. It didn't smell like pee anymore and the bathrooms were absolutely clean and immaculate!!! They definitely check your papers for Covid for the negative test and picture ID. The staff is really helpful and everyone was super friendly. They have a great little lounge area downstairs where you can watch the concert from. The only negative I have . it said to start at 7 PM on the ticket but they didn't let us in the building till almost 745 and it was only 30° outside!

Yelp
Great ambiance, sound, and bar service for concerts! Always exciting to see a show here.

Yelp
I went to a handful of shows here which included babes in toyland, tricky, a raves. I didn't order drinks but they were around there with tapes for sale that I wanted to pick up and remember later because everything was great for a cheap show I can still afford

Yelp
Great place to see a show, always amazing sound and great staff as well. One of the most iconic venues in Michigan and easily the best in the city of Detroit.

Yelp
Great place to see a concert. Spacious, clean, huge bathrooms, welcoming service/bartenders, overall great vibe.

Yelp
Great music venue that has hosted so many artists over the years. I've seen shows of ICP perform here so many times and the venue is small yet large enough to pack a good amount in here to make it live. Fun place in a good part with many fun things

Yelp
Great place to see my favorite band! Shout out to the bar tender who came out to the crowd and served us right where we were so we didn't have to fight to get back to our spot! He was amazing!

Yelp
Apparently you are subject to being kicked out of this place if you refuse to let belligerent and inconsiderate people push their way in front of you when there is no more room left to stand. I was just trying to ignore these people who were ruining my and others' concert experience when several security guards grabbed me out of no where... I literally was just standing there and they acted like I was being violent. Very disappointed by my experience at the Little Dragon show tonight. Maybe actually observe what's happening and substantiate claims instead of just taking what these entitled people complain about at face value? Because you would have known they were the ones being disruptive if the staff had bothered to do their jobs correctly.

Brittany L.

Yelp
I was unaware that St. Andrew's requires you to have a higher security clearance than TSA. I was forced to throw out over 50 dollars worth of personal items to enter their establishment. Which they said could not be any liquid items, however the items that I had were nail glue and nausea supplements (not in liquid form) that I had to throw away that were around 50+ dollars for everything. she almost took my chapstick! I am a frequent visitor and am sad that I have to empty my purse of valuable items that I can definitely take on a plane or anywhere else but can't take to a concert? This is beyond ridiculous and I'm unsure if I wil be back.

Yelp
I've come for some art shows, and I've had a mediocre time at best. Maybe the venue is just too packed for what was trying to be accomplished, or maybe there was simply too many people in attendance, but my date and I didn't have a very good time. Beyond the packed, shoulder-to-shoulder feel of the place the music was entirely too loud. Again, that may be more of a "who is running the event" and not the venue itself, but for what was going on you couldn't talk to the artists that were there. The entire reason I came was to network and potentially collab with or hire artists for future gigs, but you couldn't really talk to anyone with the music played at such a high level. Lastly, the venue doesn't seem clean at all. It just has a grimmy bar feel to it that I don't dig. The only reason I didn't give the place 1 Star is because the people throwing the event may have been the cause of some of the issues, so if/when I go back I will update the review accordingly.

Yelp
I saw Joshua Bassett last night, which was my first concert at St. Andrew's. I am unfortunately on crutches as the result of a recent surgery/injury and was pretty worried about attending a GA show, but the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating (specifically Ashley at the box office, who made sure the staff was ready to help me out before I had even gotten there). Additionally, Wes with security was very kind while we were outside waiting to see Joshua before he left, and was patient and interactive with all of the girls waiting outside. The rest of the staff was incredibly nice as well, and all of them were willing to help me out while I walked around. I would see another show here simply because the staff went above and beyond!

Yelp
This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. It was my first concert with my boyfriend. He has seen hundreds of artists in California and Oregon. This is his first in Michigan. I have never been to St. Andrew's before. It was pretty easy to find. The most dissapointing thing is the parking lot. Park somewhere else. There was a sign pointing at it that said $6 and another that said $10. Across the street from them was a busier parking lot. The man wouldn't tell us how much we owed. He then said $15 which was odd. We told him the sign said $10 and one said $6. He claimed it was for earlier and wouldn't budge. Park somewhere else. I watched and waited in line as he charged a few others $15 and then finaly I saw him charge 2 people only $10. I was upset. Changing the prices on people. At firt, we were really upset because it was 40 degrees out and the doors were supposed to open at 7pm. A man was walkingn down the line charging $20 if you wanted to get in first and $30 per person if you wanted a balcony seat with a table. We decided not to because he doors were supposed to open shortly. Unfortunately, they told us that the equipment just arrived from Chicago and a sound check still needed to be done. We weren't sure if this was true, but we had to wait until 7:40 and they finally opened the doors. It was so cold and windy. The place is kinda smaller yet intimate. We enjoyed the bar area. My boyfriend got a drink for $8. I paid $7 for an unlimited pop fill. You can buy the one time pop for $3. It was better to get the unlimited because then we both could share and get refills, and keep an awesome souvenir. We used the bar as a spot to lean on closer to the stage. As teens are, many shoved and stood in front of us. Don't you hate when someone taller stands in front of you? We got to see the first band Verte as the opening act. She was really good, and we enjoyed her music. EDEN was absolutely amazing. He is such an introvert though, but I love it. He buries himself into the music and gets so emotional with the instruments. It was truly amazing. He would start a song and finish, and the lights would go out, the crowd would scream, and then he'd start another song with different lights. It was an amazing experience. The sound was actually amazing. He sounded better than his album. You could hear all of the instruments and beats loudly. The light work was awesome as well because it changed with each song. He even apologized after a few songs, stating that his equipment was indeed late. We understand this can happen and it isn't their fault. We were happy to enjoy our time at the concert. They do now have ac. They do have a coat check, but I think they charge for it. The bathrooms were clean when I went in. Again, park somewhere else.

Yelp
I came here tonight for the first time, for the Plain White T's concert. I probably should have guessed this from the name, but I think it used to be an old church. The architecture is very cool, including both the exterior and the interior. When we rounded the corner from Beaubien to Congress St, there was a small line to get in but it went smoothly. They run a metal detector over you and if you're a woman carrying a bag they will ask you to open it as well. You know I'm old because the inspector asked me what was in the bottom of my purse and I showed him: Tylenol, lol. The venue is basically one big open room except they also have a balcony. A friend who has been to a few shows here said that normally the balcony is open for anyone, tonight it was more of a VIP section though because I believe tickets were more expensive for it. They had the AC cranked up and it was pretty nice. Even though it's one big room I never felt crazy crowded which was also nice. I would come back here to see another show except I would probably try to sit in the balcony, after about 3 hours standing my feet really hurt tonight. I will say the staff here gets 5 out of 5 stars from me. One of my friends was trying to find her ticket on Ticketmaster/her phone, but was apparently low on data. One of the staff came over and asked her what was going on and she told him, and then he gave her a paper ticket to get in, which was pretty nice of him. Another friend went outside to get some air during the concert and a staff member asked if she was okay, and later ushered her back in and let her sit in the balcony so it wouldn't be as crowded for her. A+ customer service.

Yelp
Went to see the Corktown Popes and headliner Rhythm Corps. I have not been here in almost 33 years. I had one of the most enjoyable nights I've had in a long time. I had floor tickets which meant standing all night, I knew that going in though. The place sure looked great. There's a nice long bar with very friendly bartenders. The sound was very good. The bands were fabulous. The Corktown Popes are must to see they did original music and it was awesome. Rhythm Corps were fantastic especially for having a long layoff between gigs. There was two special guest Tony K the lead singer of Figures on a Beach and he sounded great. Mike Skill guitarist of the Romantics and he was great as always. I hope I don't go another 33 years without coming back.

Yelp
Cool and intimate place is the best way I can describe St. Andrew's Hall. Standing room on the ground level while seats are in the mezzanine area. St. Andrew's Hall staff was working the line-up to get people to upgrade to "VIP" in order to sit in the mezzanine area. We did not bite and kept our standing seats; however, by the end of the concert we kind of wished we upgraded - getting old! Parking is a little over the place. We parked behind the hall and the parking attendant asked us if we were there for the hall or elsewhere - up charge if you were there for a concert. Staff also give you a heads up that there is a security check and pat down before entering the hall. This was unexpected but necessary for safety. Merch area and bathrooms when you walk into the lobby. Bathrooms were clean and nice. Coat check was downstairs. The coat check gal only charged us for one coat even though we checked in two. Bar inside the concert area and the drinks were flowing for people for a wild Tuesday night with Andrew McMahon and friends. Dreading someone tall standing in front of you is a short person's nightmare. Of course it happens, of course, where do all these tall people come from for concerts? Having to be aggressive and hold your spot down on the floor is a challenge but a necessary evil. Good sound and fun atmosphere. I would rather see a concert at DTE for comfort wise to sit down (again I am old and grouchy) but getting the intimate feel and close up views of the artist is unbeatable.

Yelp
Home to both The Shelter and Saint Andrew's primary venue on the main floor, this is absolutely one of my favorite music venues. It's small enough to be intimate but big enough to draw medium / large national bands. It has a great sound system, so if your band is really on that night, you will get to actually experience it. There are a number of bars so the wait times for cocktails are never bad. The bathrooms can get a little jammed up but there are couple of options here. First, there is The Shelter space downstairs. It is rare that they double book, so assuming it is empty down there, you should have wide open real estate down there. The second (and my personal favorite) is to pay the $20 (roughly) upgrade to the upstairs VIP. It is never that busy and has it's own bar and bathroom. It is a much better way to see a show as long as you don't want to mosh!! SAH is a great venue. I look for excuses to get there. I literally watch the schedule. If there is ever a band I am remotely interested in, I usually book it.

Yelp
I have been here for several concerts. It's a small venue. Kind of grungy and old school. But a super fun spot. Cheap tickets and a lot of fun. We were here today for the Cupid's undie run. Great venue for it. If you're a VIP you get to go upstairs where there is seating (it's standing room only on the main floor), and a private bar and restrooms. Down stairs is The Shelter. They hold really small time bands down there. Parking was easy and convenient and only $7. Afterward we went right next door to the Elephant Room and enjoyed more cocktails and food. It's an enjoyable experience if you go in understanding that this is an old building and small venue, kind of grungy, you won't be disappointed if you go in expecting Fox Theatre.

Yelp
This is my first time here at Saint Andrew's Hall. A very small hall that has vendors selling a variety of things. For Awakening. A showcase spotlighting local Detroit artists. The announcer mentioned that a new floor was installed. Looks very nice. Downtown Detroit is coming alive once again.

Yelp
An intimate hall venue for concerts and performances. The acoustics are phenomenal here. It's not that big of a place, so no,, you wouldn't need thousands and thousands and thousands of watts to get an awesome output. Tickets here are pretty much general admission. So do come early for the good spots. Other than that,, make sure you do the upgrade early,, so you can get yourself a nice seat on the balcony,, if you're lucky enough,, you land one with a table. The upstairs was my favorite part, because there's a dedicated bar for the upgrade peeps. Also there's a dedicated bathroom as well. So yea,, it was definitely worth the money. We came to see the Boyce Avenue concert which was very cool. Great performance and the venue was totally awesome. I would definitely come and watch concerts here again if given the chance. Thanks you for reading my review. Enjoy your yelptastic day!!!

Ema S.

Yelp
I've been going to shows here for years. Never have a I ever had bartenders deny accepting cash as a form of payment. I also have never been denied regular water before. I enjoyed the show I paid to see but I'm really disappointed in how the bartenders treated me and the people I was with. Thumbs up for all the bands that played but thumbs down to how the bartenders treated customers on the main floor at both bars. Also when someone tells you they are deaf it's best not to try to swindle more money from them or to get attitudes when there is a miscommunication. Check your bar tenders because they do impact the vibe. Upstairs bartenders were awesome and respectful basement bartenders were awesome and respectful.

Yelp
My husband and I had such a fun night at Saint Andrews watching Benee tonight because of Wes and all his tips! He told us to consider the upper level balcony with private bar and bathrooms, and it was perfect! Thanks for taking care of us, Wes!

Yelp
Love going to shows at this venue. It's small enough that you feel like it's an intimate show, yet big enough to get some pretty decent big named bands booked. My favorite part is probably the bar upstairs. I wish that was open to general admission ticket holders instead of a VIP upgrade, but the venue has to make its money somehow. My only gripe is that the staff sometimes isn't the friendliest to deal with. Box office has always been great, but security and bar tenders have been hit or miss. Went to a Emo Night Brooklyn show a couple months ago and a group of my friends arrived after us and they let in 3 of the 4 people. Claimed that they wouldn't let the 4th in because he didn't pay for his ticket and they were only accepting paid ticket purchasers in, but the other 3 got theirs for free too. After a little bit of an argument they finally caved and let them all in. Keep booking great shows and I'll keep coming. Maybe remind your staff on how to be a little more polite.

Yelp
I am seriously not one to leave reviews!! I went to SAH last night to see one of my favorite artists perform. I am an avid concert goer, but this time it just got to me! I ended up leaving the crowd and going to the bathroom, and staff has never been so accommodating to me before. I was immediately given a water bottle and had staff helping me in the restroom and giving me much reassurance and help. I had never felt so seen and been so avidly helped before when I have been sick in public, especially at a concert. I was then given tickets with a seat and good view to finish out the concert. I was seriously beyond thankful. This made my experience so amazing. Whoever was working Halloween night, specifically a person with short hair and tattoo sleeved shirt, Thank you so much. I wish I had gotten your name because I really appreciated your help. Gonna be recommending this place way more often. Venue is great too, awesome to have a pretty spacious floor And and upper balcony!!
google avatar

Despina T.

Yelp
Good location for a venue. Depending on which artist comes here this can either be the perfect size or too small, you be the judge. This place is really old but it's a good layout and great drink prices. They ask you if you want single or double drinks. They do a good job of advertising upcoming shows/events at the entrance. I do think this venue would benefit from good ol' fashioned spring cleaning. The women's bathroom smells and looks so yucky, grimy and disgusting. I'm talking worse than your average bar/venue women's restroom.

Yelp
Been coming here for shows as long as I can remember. This is a staple venue for really great shows from really great acts. Most recently we were drenched in nostalgia for Emo Night Brooklyn as pop punk favorites brought us back to our days of faux hawks and stretched ears. The main floor is narrow and long, which provides a great chance to see everything that happens on stage (if you're lucky enough to not get stuck behind the tallest person in the area, who we all know is contractually obligated to attend every event and find YOU). Only once have I ever been on the balcony (+44 back when Travis played with a broken arm), but it's definitely an awesome vantage point if you can get up there (extra purchase most of time). The Shelter is usually open for a coat check, and they offer another bar to alleviate some crowding on the main floor. Most events fill up which only adds to the atmosphere. Light shows can vary from house to the performer (Motion City Soundtrack recently did their own and it was killer). Drinks are average price for a concert venue, but they're at least strong! We always get quality service. Entering is a breeze with the security done outside and scanning done indoors.

Yelp
Took a while for performer to come on stage and my feet were killing me the entire show. They should have seats on the sides for people that have been waiting long especially if youre gonna allow the performer to come on stage late. 4 stars because the show was still good the only thing i didnt like was my feet hurting for standing in the same place for 2-3 hours
google avatar

Kristina T.

Yelp
After covid you're STILL overselling?! We pay higher prices to see a show, expecting safety. But you sill pack us in like cattle. So much so that people have to go downstairs to the Shelter to watch the show on a screen cause there's no more room on the main floor. Greedy p@gs.
google avatar

April C.

Yelp
The sound quality is not good and vocals are extremely difficult to hear, even with earplugs. They had the friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a venue and bathrooms were surprisingly clean throughout the show.
google avatar

Jodie N.

Yelp
This is definitely not my favorite venue. The tickets said 7:00pm start, but it turned out that doors opened at 7, so first annoyance since we arrived earlier thinking doors were at 6. Do not park in the lot adjacent to the venue, they had people double parked, thus blocked in, all over the place; park across the street for the same price. Very disorganized getting in and the women's bathroom ran out of toilet paper relatively early in the night. It got crowded fast so we decided to upgrade to the upper level and were told we could sit anywhere on the sides. Well, turns out that was all wrong - most of the seating was reserved (for yet an additional fee I'm sure) - and we kept being told we couldn't sit anywhere, so we ended up standing. Double the ticket price for that?! They did have $10 for all you can drink pop with a refillable cup, so that was a welcome addition that I hadn't seen in the past. The sound quality was good and it didn't get hot i there until the end of the night. That's all I have to say for positives. I will avoid this venue in the future when possible.

Yelp
Great venue with really good acoustics. I came here to see First Aid Kit and was impressed by the friendly staff, cleanliness, two bars (one upstairs, one downstairs) and even the option to pay a bit extra to sit in the balcony. Show started on time and the line outside went pretty smoothly. They had a huge coat check downstairs which was perfect considering it was a cold winter day! I would definitely come back here for a concert again.

Yelp
Great venue to see live music! Awesome history. Cool bar area and just great place to see a band with friends.

Yelp
Went to St Andrews Hall for emo night last night it was super fun and music was great. Except for the bar tender who worked that night was not the best in the slightest. Bought one drink and signed over the receipt. When he took a look at it he yelled "NO TIP!?" I don't usually tip with drinks only food and I know it's not mandatory. The bar tender continued to yell at me telling me I am banned from ever purchasing a drink again from his bar. All over no tip? Extremely unprofessional. I was planning on buying a few drinks throughout the night but St Andrews Hall bar will not be receiving anymore of my money because of that bar tender. I have never seen or personal experienced someone being yelled at over at tip especially for a single drink. Definitely needs a new staff for the bar on St Andrews Halls part for sure.

Yelp
Great venue for concerts! Bars on both sides of the main room, plus The Shelter in the basement and the VIP lounge upstairs. Awesome acoustics.

Yelp
We have just started seeing shows here and have enjoyed every show. It can get quite crowded here, so be sure to get there when the doors open. Don't get there too early though as you could be standing outside for a little while. It has been our experience that the doors typically open 10-15 minutes later than advertised and it takes a few minutes to get through the security check. One downfall is there is no seating in the general admission area, though they do have a small handicap seating area off on the side. They do offer a soda option with unlimited refills, we usually get this when watching shows here. Also, the bathrooms here are updated and usually very clean. There are some good parking options nearby - we usually park at the garage a block away. The price isn't bad and it's easy to get out and onto the expressway within a few minutes.

Yelp
I'll keep this one short... Saint Andrews is basically awesome. If you're a fan of bands that tend to be out of the spotlight, this is the place to see them before they make it big. The stage is super intimate, and the whole space is small enough that there's really not a bad view to be had. I knock down a star because I'm a pansy little suburban boy who doesn't trust the immediate surrounding area worth a damn. Yeah, I get it, Detroit is on the "up and up," but I sure as hell wouldn't want to walk more than half a block to my car after a concert here ... which reminds me, other than the parking garage (which is $10-$12, I don't really remember), your only other option is a lot nearby, which costs up to $25 on the weekend. Jesus, man... I know there are other areas to park, but eesh. So this was whinier more than anything. TL;DR -- Saint Andrews is a great venue to see a show. I agree that the sound isn't the greatest, but I'll trade slightly lower quality sound for an awesome view any day.

Yelp
Sharon what can I say? She is amazing. She helped us out all night when there was a big crowd there. She took care of us all night. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
The sidewalks might not be the most amazing but once you get inside it is so clean. I have been visiting SAH for over 10 years. I remember it being a little rougher with I was younger, but the last visit I saw VNV Nation, it was amazing. The bathrooms were clean and kept in order. I did not have a crazy wait for drinks. The bottomless soda cup was such a wonderful offering. As a DD I was happy to have such fast access to water and some ginger ale all night. Prices have always been modest as far back as I can remember. I have found that parking at the casino parking ramp right off the highway is a safe and usually free bet. I look forward to heading over that way again soon.

Yelp
There are things that you never want to change. When you return you want it to be exactly like it was the last time you were there be it last week, last month, last year or 20 years later. St Andrews hasn't changed much over the decades. I love small concert venues, forget about the Palace or the Joe for a concert I'd rather see an artist at St Andrews or a like venue. I'd recommend upgrading to a balcony seat for another $20 per ticket as we did to see Marian Hill. It was well worth the investment.

Yelp
Small, dark, intimate ballroom-style concert venue never disappoints. There are no bad seats at Saint Andrew's Hall. I have seen a lot of shows here through the decades. The most recent being Howard Jones, for his keyboard-only (plus stories) tour. The bartenders are friendly and if you are a water-only concert-goer like me, you get a real bottle with a top! Because we are well behaved at Saint Andrew's Hall! Sound is good, everyone seemed happy there. Not uncomfortable or intimidating in any way. The worst thing was that we had to wait on the freezing sidewalk for an awful long time after the announced door opening time. Howard! You are pretty enough! But security goes fast, people are helpful, bathrooms clean enough. I would go there all the time if they got more mid-80's bands.

Yelp
Update: Came back for the Keshi show last night and once again, dissatisfied and disappointed. The line issue was organized better this time and the floor is new so it felt safe and wasn't on the verge of collapsing. Although, the capacity that they allowed should be illegal. There were too many people, packed like cattle. At least five people, including myself passed out because it was suffocating and people were pushing on one another which made it became unsafe. I couldn't even clap because there were no room to. It felt like the Travis Scott concert with all the pushing. Additionally, the ticket stated that the show started 7pm, but doors did not open until 7pm. The opening show didn't start until 8pm, which ended at 8:30pm. There was a 30 minutes break until Keshi came out at 9pm. It some how was dragged out so long into the night when Keshi only performed for an hour. There wouldn't be so many people passing out if it wasn't so packed and if we didn't stay in there for so long. This hall definitely needs better management to figure out a better system to keep people safe and accommodated and improved communication. I hope that it gets better the next time I return or that artists need to stop booking this hall.

Yelp
This is probably the best concert venue to go to if you prefer a small and intimate setting. I have been here to see a concert once before on the standing room floor. This time I decided to purchase balcony seats, since I am shorter in stature. The balcony area is well worth spending a bit extra if you prefer to have some room to move and also have easy access to restrooms and a bar area. The bar area was gorgeous with old fashioned furniture for lounging, and included a couple long tables with stools to sit, as well as TVs showing the performance, so you don't sacrifice missing the show to get your favorite drink. I thoroughly felt that I was a part of the bands' performances, and overall it was a wonderful experience. Getting into the venue through security was straightforward and didn't require a lot of time as well.

Yelp
Saint Andrews Hall is one of my favorite venues in Detroit! I've been to about 5 shows, and each one has been great. It's standing room, general admission so you should get there early is you want to be close to the front. The staff is always nice and helpful, it's safe a clean-just a really great spot to see a show. It's also a really intimate venue, a great change to seeing shows in a big stadium.
