⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding meal at Saint Clair Saint Clair delivered an exceptional dining experience from the first course to the last. The grouper, the beets, and the gnocchi were absolute standouts each one executed beautifully. The grouper was perfectly cooked, flaky and rich, with flavors that felt both fresh and elevated. The beet dish was surprisingly memorable vibrant, balanced, and one of the best preparations I’ve had anywhere. And the gnocchi was pure perfection: light, pillowy, and paired with a sauce that tied everything together without overwhelming it. Service was polished and warm, the atmosphere inviting, and the pacing just right. Saint Clair continues to impress, and this meal was no exception. Highly recommend.

Truly incredible dining experience! The service is attentive, friendly, and knowledge. The restaurant is in an old home which is beautiful and charming. The food was perfectly seasoned and delicious - every bite. The portions are small but we were certainly full by the end of our meal. The shallot tart is a must try: Crispy pastry, perfectly sweet shallots, topped with creme fraiche and dill. I could eat that every day. The gumbo comes with pickled okra & potato salad. The lamb tagliatelle was al dente and perfect - so flavorful. The grouper was beautifully cooked and seasoned. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious. I would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful property and dining setting! Excellent staff! Difficult to find through residential neighborhood, could use more signs. Food was excellent. We had the crab omelet, crab cake, and grilled grouper served over a pickled tomato and lima bean salad that was excellent. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and the apple/persimmon fried pies with buttermilk ice cream(loved)! Beautiful historic location, just a little out of the way, but worth it!

I loved my experience at Saint Claire. I visit New Orleans regularly and after my friend suggested we try this new restaurant, I was game. And then the week before I saw it made the NYT Top 50 restaurants. I wondered with all the amazing restaurants I've experienced, how did this restaurant make the top 50? After my experience, it took me several days to really put my finger on it. I struggled to understand why I enjoyed it so much and then realized it was because the food and the restaurant were wonderful, but weren’t trying to be the center of the experience. They enhanced my experience. The center of my experience was catching up with an old friend. The food was incredible and gave us a shared delight and elements of conversation. The setting is beautiful, partly because it's simple and feels true to its identity. There’s a gravel path as you pull up, and even the entrance sign is still a handwritten sign on a whiteboard. The location has a storied past, but you feel like you've gone back in time into a simple era outside the city (even though you’re still technically within the City of New Orleans). From the couches in the dining room (which feels far more like a living room than a dining room), to the simple tea towel curtains in the bathroom, the atmosphere was cozy. And the waitstaff is wonderful. Our primary server was very attentive, but not hovering. Very friendly, yet professional and not overly enthusiastic. Everything felt like it was there to enhance my cherished meal time with my dear friend. Brunch was excellent. Delicious coffee and iced tea; a wonderful cocktail with honey that was just gently sweetened. We shared biscuits with cultured butter and housemade blueberry confiture; eggplant fritters dusted with powdered sugar; Crêpes Sucre with Langherino cheese and fresh peaches; a Niçoise with confit tuna, tomatoes, olives, and soft egg; a jumbo lump crabcake with radish and cultured butter; and blueberry hand pies with buttermilk ice cream. All of it was delicious! The fritters and the crêpes were standouts—unexpected, layered, and joyful—and the crabcake was delicate in the best way, barely bound so the crab could shine. In an era when restaurants and chefs often chase the spotlight, Saint Claire quietly keeps you in it. That’s exactly what I liked most about it.

I recently dined at Saint Claire in Algiers, New Orleans, and wanted to share my experience, particularly about their outdoor seating area, which deserves more attention than it currently receives. **The Reservation Process & Seating Transparency** When I made my reservation online, I was required to provide extensive personal details, including credit card number, full billing address, city, ZIP code, telephone, and email, which felt excessive for a simple dinner reservation. More importantly, I discovered that only outdoor seating was available, but this crucial information isn't mentioned anywhere on their website or Google profile. For the benefit of future diners and the restaurant, I strongly encourage the owners to add detailed information about their seating options to both platforms. **The Outdoor Dining Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐** Once we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the charming outdoor space. The screened-in patio is located off the back of the main house and features an eclectic collection of tables, chairs, and tableware that gives the space character. Some of the chairs reminded us of old school chairs—hardwood seating with minimal back support—so comfort may vary depending on where you're seated. The tables tend to be quite small and narrow, though this actually makes the petite plateware seem perfectly proportioned when your dishes arrive. The location itself is stunning, with 200+ year-old sprawling live oak trees providing natural shade over the patio area. We enjoyed a lovely breeze flowing through the screened space during our visit, though I imagine the experience could differ significantly on particularly hot or cool days. **The Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐** We started with gumbo, crab cake, tarte, and meatballs and biscuits. The dishes varied in intensity—the meatballs were surprisingly spicy, while the crabcake was more subdued and could have used a bit more punch. The standout was definitely the duck and andouille gumbo, which was very good with generous portions of beautifully braised duck throughout. **Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐** The service was excellent throughout our meal—attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming. **Final Thoughts** Saint Claire offers a unique dining experience in a beautiful setting. While there's room for improvement in communication about seating options and the reservation process, the combination of good food, excellent service, and that magical outdoor space under ancient oaks makes it worth a visit. I'm giving it 4 stars overall and hope the owners will consider updating their online presence to showcase their lovely outdoor dining area better.

This beautiful and quaint restaurant tucked away in Algiers on the west bank makes you feel like you’ve left New Orleans. The dining room was cozy and lit with candle light. The menu is simple and the dishes are too. Be prepared for all your dishes to come out at the same time. Really enjoyed the crab salad, duck and semifreddo. Perfect for a date night.

Seriously questioning the food reviewer from NYT. Our group ordered more than half the menu and left hungry. The gumbo was possibly the worst we’ve tried here on our third trip to the city. Delicious gnocchi. Very fresh shrimp and crab but too small for “sharing”. Would recommend larger water glasses/leaving bottle on table. Be advised they don’t have official signage for the restaurant on the road visible in the dark. Bathroom situation is quite strange. One is a literal closet.

So incredible! If you’ve been to mosquito supper club, Saint Claire food is similar and at the same insane caliber, just with the option to sit where you like and order like a usual restaurant in a larger venue. I cannot believe how beautiful it is in there! Such friendly service and did I mention the food? This is going to be the most sought after wedding venue soon.

Absolutely incredible establishment. A bit out the way, the roads are a bit rocky but you're in New Orleans, you're used to that. The property is beautiful with so much potential to become even more, as if it even needs to. I'd kill for outdoor dining under the oaks in the future(in case anyone is listening.) The Good: I'm a huge Duck connoisseur. I've probably eaten every duck dish in the city, with my favorites being the Smoked Duck at Clancy's and the Duck with Blueberry sauce at Vincent's. That being said, the Duck Confit here is the best in the city. I had the variant with muscadine grapes and country ham and every bite was unbelievable. - 10/10 The smoked beets appetizer as well? Masterclass. I'd come here and order 3 orders of this. - 10/10 The poached shrimp and citrus was exceptional. I do not particularly love fennel, so one of my tests of a great establishment is if they can incorporate fennel into a dish and make me like it. They did it here, Shrimp were super fresh and the quality of the herbs made every bite a different super-coherent but surprising based on what you got more or less of. -10/10 The blueberry hand pies are amazing. Super flaky pastry, delicious filling, and some of the best ice cream I can remember having. Nothing transcendent, but very very good execution of a hand pie - 9/10 The Bad: Not a whole lot. If I had one critique of the meal, it was with the Gumbo. I thought the flavors were very good, and while I personally love how dark the Roux was I can see a lot of people not being a fan. It is extremely dark, and could definitely be controversial. While I thought the gumbo was great, I have to say I found the quality of the Andouille in the Gumbo lacking. It was very dry, almost crumbly, and really lacked any noticeable flavor and just didn't add much to the dish. I really am saying this as a byproduct of how absolutely incredible everything else was, this didn't feel like it fit the quality of the establishment and was noticeably a lower-quality ingredient. That being said, the side of potato salad and the pickled okra were amazing touches as well. In all, I'd give the gumbo: - 8/10 (Gumbo is gumbo guys)

What a dreamy location! You sort of think you're lost as you drive through an older suburban neighborhood to get there. And once you're on the property, you can't believe it. The oak trees are stunning and the former house is beautiful. THEN you get to the food and it's just delicious. I went for brunch and had the most perfect French omelet. I can't remember when I've had eggs so soft. I enjoyed my salad and mimosa as well. I can't wait to go back!

I'm a sucker for a decor and setting like theirs, but even an infatuation with that didn't help overcome its deficiencies. The service was very bland. We briefly interacted with one person, who was friendly and talkative; our actual server was more nonchalant than a professional poker player. The only plus came from her wine recommendation, but it's hard to mess that up when most of their wines are old-world and their plates are deep in flavor. Don't miss out on the crab salad. The fruit pies with buttermilk ice cream were the best desserts I had on my trip. A lot of their menu is missing that extra touch that would distinguish them from spots you can find in other major cities. Maybe if they fully accepted their southern identity, they'd shine just fine. Oh and a little enthusiasm from the service side of things wouldn't hurt either.

Welcome to Saint Claire, Algiers newest fine dining experience. I hurriedly made reservations for 4 of us to have Brunch their opening weekend. We parked in a non convention way in the circular drive and made our way to the house. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The interior is beautifully decorated, each setting dressed in vintage silver and tea cups of varied patterns. Gorgeous. We started with both biscuits and the baguette which came out with soft butter and fresh made confiture (similar to jam). The baguette was literally piping hot. Both choices were superb. Everyone ordered cocktails, but I can only speak for my delicious Bloody Mary and my friend's Corpse Survivor(lovely lemony) which were both heavenly. I had the Lamb meatballs with grits and to say they were so delicious is quite an understatement. Maybe super duper delicious would be more accurate. Everyone really enjoyed their choices making "mmmmm" sounds with each bite. and yes, we'll try the desserts too, fresh peach hand pies and a chocolate mousse type selection. We left so satisfied and ready to conquer the world, instead of heading home for naps. I don't often think about dining experiences all day and the next day. I did this time. A beautiful location, wonderful staff and the most memorable meal is a stunning start for Saint Claire. Thank you Saint Claire, sending you big energy. Better make my next reservation, before the crowds start coming.

I have visited three times since it opened. Food service ambience all great. Great lunch and dinner experience.

What an amazing place! The outdoor screened in porch transports you out of the city and into a warm hug! We loved the ambiance, food and decor! can't wait to go back when the weather cools down and enjoy a fall-like night on the back patio and see what delicious menu items they create!

Charming and welcoming once inside. it's in an overall odd but beautiful location . Obvious talent in the kitchen but I don't quite understand the NYT review and rating. It deserves recognition but it is no where near one of the best dining experiences in the country. There was nothing that we had that was extraordinary. Good but not extraordinary You are encouraged to share things from the top of the menu. We shared the crab salad at $32 and the fried eggplant. The eggplant was fried to perfection..not greasy and light. The crab meat was simply tasteless and like the eggplant the portion size was ridiculously small with barely a bite for two people. The gumbo is hearty and tasty but not the best in the area by any stretch..and again not much more than a cup. The gnocchi and crab meat had a very tasty sauce but was otherwise pedestrian and ridiculously small portions. The ciabatta bread and accompanying butter and fig jam were fresh and very good. The hand held blue berry pie and ice cream was done well. Service was friendly and professional. However, to charge grand restaurant prices I would like to get grant restaurant service. That didn't happen. Perhaps in time they will meet the expectations that being rated in the nyt would give them. They are not there yet.

Oh Saint Claire, what can I say... I haven't stopped thinking about our meal since- I feel bad for my family having to hear me yap about it. The food was beyond phenomenal and the atmosphere was so homey and cute. 10/10 and could not recommend more. ONE critique- I wish there was more reservation availability but I understand why there's not- don't expect to come and rush out. It's truly an experience and should be enjoyed slowly

Been to the chef's other restaurant, Mosquito Supper Club, many times and always loved it. However, Saint Claire lacked in every aspect where MSC excelled. I went with a group and was served a very underwhelming tasting menu. Service was average and dinner was slow. You expect to be "wowed" at a price of $150/per person. Instead it was basically one item of several things like beets and lamb meatball - that you may not even enjoy - served over several hours. Will go back to MSC but not Saint Claire

The atmosphere is cool, one of our waitresses was really nice and the bread was warm. Unfortunately, the rest, including the food, was a big disappointment. It was a little hard to get too. The property is gated in the front so you actually need to go on a side street then take another trail/road into the property. It was pretty difficult in the dark. The smoked beats were almost tasty but not quite. The gnocchi was pan fried and looked delicious but were mushy and lacked any flavor/salt. The crab on top was cold, which was fine but unexpected. The duck confit was considerably over salted as was the ice cream and we had for desert. My husband thought the blueberry tart was just fine. I didn't have any. The person who actually served our food was as bland as the gnocchi and the front host person was nice but dressed for weekend errands.

Beautiful space, delicious food, warm service. Crab salad, poached shrimp and the hand pies were standouts and not to miss!

As a local, this is one of the best meals my husband and I have had in years here. Everything from the food to the service was perfection. Might even rival Clancys...it's a must try.

We ate there Sunday morning for brunch.service and brunch was excellent including the dessert.will definitely return,wonderful experience.

Incredible food, wonderful ambience. Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Looking forward to cooler weather to sit outside and enjoy the many oak trees. Definitely a must for anyone looking for exquisite dining! Jewel in Algiers!
