Saint Louis - Review - Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"In Harlem, Saint Louis is a Senegalese restaurant where you can get acara, dibi lamb, and jollof made with fish. They have daily lunch specials, and we’re most excited about checking out Thursday’s sakha-sakha, which is lamb and fish stewed in a cassava leaf sauce. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

The food here was genuinely good—well-prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The ambiance was also very pleasant, with a cozy and stylish vibe that made it a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. That said, the lighting inside was quite dark, which made it a bit difficult to fully see the food and the space. A slightly brighter interior would really enhance the overall experience. Overall, a solid spot for good food and atmosphere, with just a small lighting adjustment needed to make it even better.

Hole in the wall that produces the best Senegalese food Ive ever had. The lamb was incredibly tender and falling off the bone, spices were amazing and everything was well seasoned but not overpowering. The jollof rice complimented the dish well and the ginger juice was delicious and balanced out all the spices of the dish. The owner told me her mother was the chef and I absolutely believe it as it tasted like home cooking and was made with love. I have had this dish at other restaurants before, but nowhere has compared to this one. 10/10 will visit again.

Well, well well, where do I start? I ordered dinner @Saint Louis Restaurant Keur Yayou Dara. I ordered Dibi Senegal, and it was super delicious. The tenderness of lamb is out of this world. Now let me touch on the seasoning, I wont even say anything, you have to try it to know what I mean. The staff were super friendly, they were all smiling. Mame Penda took my order, she was very friendly and helpful beside that the fact that she gave me some excellent recommendations. The side orders were great and the portions are very reasonable. In sum, it was a great experience. Now the burden is on you @SaintLouis Restaurant. I highly recommend this place

Nice people, but the service wasn’t great. We waited over 45 minutes for our food with no check-ins. A guest next to us—who appeared to be a family member or friend of the staff received their food within 5–10 minutes, which wasn’t right. I was also told the Dibi lamb Senegal was already prepared, so I’m not sure why the wait was so long. Me and my mom were disappointed. Learning experience, to leave after 25 minutes max. Even our drinks took too long to come out. The dibi was cut into large chunks, I’m not a big fan of that, but it was flavorful. The food may be good, but the service needs improvement. I don’t think I’ll come back again. For food reviews follow @briannascravings

A true culinary gem! The Senegalese dishes at this family owned and run restaurant were bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly prepared - some by the mother of the family. The warm, vibrant ambience made the experience even more special. The service was welcoming, and the lady who served us was genuinely proud of her cuisine. A must-visit for anyone who loves great food and warm hospitality.

Last night, we really enjoyed our first time St Louis restaurant. The Senegalese food was excellent and while I may not be an expert we had a friend from Oman who certainly is. We ate lamb and chicken with millers and jollof and everything was great. The server was a wonderful and friendly woman and the atmosphere was oh so nice. I will certainly go back for their other dishes.

We had guests over this weekend, and my wife suggested trying this place instead of our usual Senegalese restaurant. I was skeptical and jokingly asked if we should try it first and decide later, instead of risking ruining our get-together. In the end, we decided to give it a try and ordered from there. We absolutely loved it! Our guests were delighted with the food. The quality of the fish was excellent, and the rice with vegetables was cooked just right. And guess what? The aluminum trays were labeled! It may sound basic, but it was a game-changer. The service was also fantastic. The staff was very friendly and personal. The owner was particularly hospitable and caring. We can’t wait to come back and try more of their dishes!

I found a delightful, cozy restaurant on Malcolm X in Harlem serving West African elegance and welcoming charm. My lunch order,Theiu Yapp was cooked to perfection. My host customized a non alcohol Bissap cockail for me. A nice spot for 1st date or even a small gathering.
