The Best Montreal Sushi Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"The names of the dishes at Saint Sushi might seem silly, but it’s easy to overlook once the fresh fish hits the table. Some more creative items served with yogurt sauce may not be for everyone, but its “Christmas trees” — sashimi tartare on crackers — are guaranteed to be a hit." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

13 of the Best Tasting Menus in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Creativity abounds on this very affordable $34 tasting menu with items like the “Christmas Tree Tartare”: a cone made of tuna or salmon on a rice “biscuit.” Note: alcohol is only served at the Westmount location." - Carla Bragagnolo

Saint Sushi truly has some of the best sushi in Montreal — the taste is amazing and the staff are friendly and professional. But unfortunately, the waiting time was worse than the amazing taste. We waited more than 50 minutes for our food, and one plate even came 20 minutes before the others, which really killed the vibe for our group. Incredible sushi, but the long wait takes away from the overall experience.

It was so Amazing. Service was the best I had in a while. The sushi were yummy. The place is super cozy. The cocktails are pretty great also. Really had a great time there

Google
Hands down the best Sushi in Montreal. Open air kitchen where you can see the chefs carefully preparing the dishes. Very friendly and accommodating staff. A true gem.

Very low-key, fun vibe. Good, chill reggae and soul music. Good spirited staff. Unique food ingredients and presentation and decor. There’s also a small bar for custom cocktails. I’d be a regular if I lived here. Vibes and chill.

Excellent food, excellent atmosphere! Do take advantage of the Saturday night tasting menu deal! Also the signature rolls are really really good! Edit: I came back one year later (2025), and it is still as good as ever! The tasting menu is the proper choice, especially with a date”.

It is our new favourite local restaurant for special occasions. The ambiance is adorable and eclectic décor, the service is excellent and the sushi pizza Notorious BIG is out of this world! The Beatles roll is delicious and the Madonna delightful. If you have never been you’re missing out!

I had some friends from out of town come visit montreal and we were looking to have some sushi. We came across Saint Sushi Plateau, it had great reviews, we decided to try it. We arrived for early dinner yesterday, group of 4 and we were great by a nice gentleman by the name Sang, he was very welcoming and proved to be quite knowledgeable in the different types of Sake. He ans his colleague whom I unfortunately don't have his name were doing an amazing job taking care of the customers in the dinning room, my friends and I were amazed at the level of service here. The food arrived....exquisite! Beautiful flavors and presentation and the Sake! At the end of the meal when we were wrapping this up, I congratulated Sang and his colleague on an amazing evening and top notch service...oh we also loved the Playlist lol. It turns out Sang is the owner and his colleague is his childhood bes friend. They have been working together ever since the resto opened and you can tell the genuine gratitude in Sang's eyes when I congratulated him on his accomplishment and success. Sushi Saint Plateau is a definite must if you love Sushi, a warm atmosphere and friendly service. Also I must mention, my daughter was inamored with the water bottles there that had smiling fish on them...one of my friends asked Sang if it was possible to have a bottle because my daughter just loved it and he immediately and very graciously placed it in a bag to go for her. I was so impressed with this. Sang I have been singing your praises to my family and will definitely come back. Never change who you are, the world needs more kind good hearted people like you brother. See you soon! I guess by now you surely remember who we are. 😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Saint Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi spots in Montreal! The fish is always incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The rolls are creative and unique while still respecting traditional Japanese taste. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of good vibes, and the staff are so friendly and attentive – they make you feel right at home. Every visit is a great experience, whether you’re there for a casual meal or a special occasion. Highly recommend to anyone who loves sushi – this place is a gem!

Yelp
Best sushi I have had in Montreal. Huge pieces and very good flavor. It was our first time in and the waiter was extremely nice. He explained the menu, what rolls and dishes were best, and even showed us the food going to other tables to give us an idea of what to order. All around great experience!

Yelp
Not that great. We went here for my 40th birthday because it was the top rated in the whole area. We ordered three five piece rolls, a glass of beer and a glass of wine. The waiters decided to drink some wine of the same bottle before bringing ours almost 20 minutes after we ordered it. The food was also done for about 20 minutes at the sushi bar and the waiter didn't bring it to us. The value for the money was terrible. 5 pieces of sushi for $18 and it wasn't amazing.

Yelp
Lousy overpriced garbage. If Montrealers think this is good I pity them. I have eaten Sushi in cities all across North America and Europe and this isn't any better than bottom 10%.

Yelp

Yelp
A cute small sushi bar with its own personality. You can get a feel of the style of the restaurant from the music and employees. The environment was laid back and clean. Sitting at the bar is nice as you can see the sushi being made.

Yelp
We feel there is a certain accuracy in the name "Saint" here because everything we ordered made us exclaim :"holy crap!". Beautifully presented, savoury little creations bursting with refreshing flavour of complex recipes and fresh ingredients defintiely make @saint_sushi stand apart from the regular, bland (but still good) sushi we seem to have an abundance of.

Yelp
This is an American-style sushi joint. Most of the dishes are made with fake crab and panko. That said, lots of it was tasty. We went for the tasting menu, which is a very good deal. The server, while friendly, snuck us into a sale of the tempura shrimp while not making it clear that it wasn't a gift from the kitchen. Be careful of that. The shrimp was good, so we weren't too upset. The tasting started with a well-executed salmon sashimi. The gingery dressing and smooth salmon mouthfeel made this a great starter. The tempura shrimp (extra) were nicely crisp in the tempura style with a juicy and plump interior. They are served on a stick. Most of the sushi maki rolls tasted the same to me. It mainly focuses on chopped spicy tuna/fake crab/panko/fried stuff etc. It's not bad, but it's primarily not a fish-forward tasting. Just be aware of that.

Yelp
Awesome food! I love it. One of the best Sushi I have tried in Montreal. I recommend it! Friendly staff if you eat on the spot.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Saint Sushi Bar. This place is definitely intimate and usually with long wait times, but 2 seats were snagged at the bar about 30 minutes before closing. Food came quickly and no one rushed me out after closing time. My favorite thing I ate was the sashimi (6 pieces), #3 on the menu. The dressing used was so refreshing, along with thinly sliced apples on top. I want to go back to this restaurant just to have 2 plates for myself! You also can't go wrong with any of their "maki." All the names will give you a chuckle as many provides tribute to legendary music icons. Service is top notch here. Everyone has such good working chemistry. The chefs, servers, and even the dishwashers were all singing along to 90s jams. Turns out the chefs are childhood friends with one another. I thought some were brothers, but that they all grew up with each other. They're looking to open another location soon. #49/2018

Yelp
We came here based on the reviews and I'm not sure how they managed to get so many stars. We went for the tasting menu and honestly it was terrible. From the start everything was sickeningly sweet. They brought out these things that they call trees and they were this mushy sweet paste kind of like crushed up Ritz crackers. Then every single sushi roll they brought out was filled with that same sickeningly sweet paste. You couldn't really taste the fish at all. Such a disappointment. I would stay away.

Yelp
Oh my heavens. We were visiting from Los Angeles and was craving a really good sushi spot. We got super lucky getting a table on a Saturday evening (went kind of early in the evening around 5PM without a reservation). Walked into this pretty small restaurant with about 7-9 tables. Highly recommend you make reservations if you're a large party. We were SO surprised by just how delicious these rolls were!!! Everything was so good. We started off getting their miso soup and some appetizers. Their shrimp tempura and lobster Christmas trees are to die for!!! Now moving onto their rolls ... there's a pretty decent selection. Fresh fish, cooked rolls, etc. What was really unique was that each roll was named after a celebrity and the dish is unique to it. Background music was of all the celebrities that they chose to name their rolls after. It was really a whole vibe! Not to mention, their service was impeccable. We met one of the managers there and he was super attentive and so nice. HIGHLY recommend! We would definitely come back here anytime we visit Montreal.

Yelp
Saint Sushi is a great spot in the plateau. It can get busy, so reservations are key. We had the tasting menu which was great! It was very filling and satisfying. The staff were all very friendly and seemed really good at what they do. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Don't really have much to say, to be honest. A small little sushi spot with very friendly and very fast service. We ordered the tuna Christmas tree, which is kinda like a tuna Tartar on a rice crispy wafer. We also had the 'Madona' - it was fresh and tasty. For the price, it's a pretty okay spot. I should mention: the girlfriend has been coming here for 4 years, and mentioned the quality has deteriorated from what it used to be.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a terrible experience here. We came after the place we were going to go to ended up being closed. We sat at the bar. We asked the server for recommendations and he recommended one of the tasting menu options so we said ok and chose that. From the moment we arrived there was a big plate (testing menu option) at the bar (where the chefs also prepare the sushi). It was already there when we sat down, at first I didn't think anything of it because again that is where they prepare the sushi. But after we had been there for 20 min I started feeling bad for the person who ordered it or thinking that maybe they prepared the wrong plate or someone and were going to throw it out. It was right in front of us. About 30 min after we order the chef added one more role to the plate and to our total surprise they served it to us. We were both kinda shocked and my boyfriend joked to the server that they knew what we wanted before we arrived and they brushed of off. We sat there stunned for a few minutes not wanting to eat because we did not know how long it had been sitting there (again it was there at the bar since before we sat down, obviously before we ordered, it hadn't moved we'd been sitting there the whole time). Neither of us like to bring problems so we awkwardly sat there for a while before i told the server that we had been sitting there the entire time and asked why they served it to us but they said no its fresh we didn't prepare it til after you ordered. It was so late and we were so hungry (we waited a long time especially considering the entire plate was ready the moment we sat down) and we didn't want to cause a seen so we ate what they served us. As for the food, it was fine but we couldn't really enjoy it wondering if we were gonna end up with food poising not knowing how long the raw fish had been sitting out at room temp. We brought it up again later and they all kept saying the same thing, it was so awkward and uncomfortable and I felt totally disrespected. We paid and left. $100+ for someones rejected plate or canceled order or whatever. My problem is how could they do this so blatantly and shamelessly in front of us. If they are willing to do this to people sitting at the bar watching what they do then I don't even want to think about what they are willing to serve people at tables that don't have a view to what they're doing. Don't eat here if you know 100% you're getting freshly prepared food.

Yelp
I have eaten sushi countless times in my life and in many different cities, and I have to be honest when I say, I was NOT expecting to have arguably the best sushi I have ever had in Canada! Everyone speaks so highly of the Canadian delicacies so I was not thinking i would be so blown away by Saint Sushi Bar, an unsuspecting hole in the wall on a side street off of St Denis. But WOW. That is all I can say. If you are in the area, you just have to come here. The place is quaint, the service was phenomenal and the sushi was just so unbelievably fresh .. like melt in your mouth, almost falling apart fresh. You have to try the Christmas trees as an appetizer, no question and definitely one of the special rolls. But I also got a standard Spicy Salmon roll and it was just as mind-blowing. There's even something so tasty about their soy sauce. I don't know what it is but I have been thinking about this place a lot since I ate there! I am actually sad that I live in the states and can't return to Saint Sushi on the regular.

Yelp
We had high hopes coming to this place due to prior reviews, but it was really nothing special in terms of sushi. The options are also quite limited. We also had the unfortunate experience of one of the employees scoffing after we asked a question. Overall, the employees were nice enough and the sushi wasn't bad per se, but really did not live up to expectations.

Yelp
Dear Saint Sushi Bar, Our friend M recommend you so many times, we knew that when the time came for her to go back home, you would be the perfect host for our farewell dinner. We came early (~5 PM) on a cold winter evening, and stepped into your cozy, welcoming dining room. The place was empty, so we had the chance to sit at the bar. Have you ever felt like you wanted to be part of the team that was serving you dinner? Well that's how cool you were! It was like having dinner at a friend's place - only a friend with professional sushi skills. Music seems to be a connecting thread at Saint Sushi Bar, and we bonded over that topic, changing the playlist, recommending concerts and reminiscing 80's, 90's and 00's best hip hop/R&B gurus. Then there was the food itself. The tasting menu was in three parts, starting with a refreshing carpaccio-style sashimi that was full of flavours. This was followed by the very festive 'Christmas trees', little towers of salmon or lobster mixed with green onions and tobiko. Last came the gorgeous plate of sushi rolls. They were all named after famous musicians, and the most eye catching of them all (perhaps because I'm a fan) was The Beatles, a colourful creation shaped like a flower, with enoki mushrooms as pistils. We were allotted 10 rolls each, but portions are quite generous, so we were overwhelmingly full toward the end of the dinner. What a great meal, and even greater people! Next time, we will make sure to come early again, as we can enjoy your company to the fullest. The food only makes it better :) Warm wishes for the cold months, I&J

Yelp
We came here randomly after looking for sushi places in the area. Saint Sushi came up as one of the top choices that was also open on Sunday so off we went! Entering the tiny restaurant you're greeted with an eclectic collection of decor from all around the world from a Buddha statue to a bright diner-like light up Coke clock on the wall. We were seated quickly at the bar, a few of the last few seats! The owner (I found this out after) told us what they had special that day and also about their omakase menu that was a reasonable $25/person. We opted for the omakase. Similar to those below me, the omakase I got came with apple/salmon tataki with a ponzu sauce, imitation crab meat "Christmas trees" on a cracker, and an assortment of 3 rolls that came with a fish sauce and sweet thai dipping sauce. The roll that stood out to me was the one with the spicy salmon and mango wrapped in nori, I can't remember what it was called. A close second was the deep fried roll, I think it was called the Bob Marley? The food was an interesting concoction of japanese and other cultural influences that I was totally down with. Since we were seated at the bar we got to chat with the chefs who are all super cool guys who really love what they do. One of them was cutting mangoes and even gave us a dish of some to eat since he thought they were "too good not to share". The highlight of my entire time here was definitely the service, closely followed with the food. The guys who run this place are all very nice and friendly. I'll be back here on my next trip to Montreal, that's a fact!

Yelp
Holy sushi! I found this place via Yelp and it did NOT disappoint! Top 5 sushi I've ever had. The green apple and sashimi salad was better than it looks in all of the pics and was 10/10 the best appetizer I could have imagined. The sushi was out of this world fresh, fun, and trendy. I'll forever recommend this place to anyone who needs a sushi restaurant rec in Montreal.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent sushis They have a menu that is very unique, love the name given to eah maki rolls. I took the tasting platter and the sensai rolls. It's amazing, it melts in your mouth and I can taste the fresh fish. I love their light sauce in the salmon with green apple from the tasting menu plate (Ask for it they'll give it to you) The sauce is very light and goes with makis, I prefer dipping it to this because you can taste the makis even more! The decoration is nice and the place is small. It's perfect for a place to date! I would definitely come back here. I was perfectly full and satisfied.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
The sushi is good, but... the amount everyone raves about it, I was expecting something a bit more dazzling than this. If you're looking for fun fusion sushi, I don't really have a great recommendation other than somewhere like Sushi Inbox or Ryú downtown, but if you want the real deal, fancy, fresh fish sushi, then the only place to go is Jun I on the plateau, not too far from Saint Sushi. Also, the waiter made a weird racist joke about Michael Jackson that really soured the experience. Don't think I'll bother going back to this overcrowded, overrated, dark and loud restaurant when there are many other options out there :\
google avatar

Charles N.

Yelp
Again, theory is confirmed, the best seat in any restaurant is at the bar. That's where the action is at! At Saint Sushi you will not be disappointed by owner Saeng who is always having a great time, pounding out his creation one after the next. My friend and I were enjoying his humming, singing and dancing along classic hits such as "Kiss on my List" by Hall & Oates and "Hypnotize" by the one and only Notorious B.I.G. Inside is a surreal restaurant, with a fantastic atmosphere and eclectically decorated with Laotian traditional paintings & statues, but you'll also find an Alice in Wonderland's Rabbit pendant clock, an elephant sporting a NY Yankees baseball hat, various shaped lamps and so many more items that don't quite fit together but somehow make sense here! The menu contains an assortment of options. We went for the tasting menu which was surprisingly affordable! My favorites so far was the Christmas Tree, a conifer-like mounted mixture of lobster, tobiko, masago, scallions and bits of tempura I believe. Close second is the Beatles which is a lobster maki encased in a cucumber sheet with enoki mushrooms topped with Tuna and Salmon sashimi. The joyfully named maki rolls were actually inspired from artists that owner Saeng grew up with: Bob Marley, Madonna, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Tupac and many more - take the time to ask why and you'll chuckle. When asked about the restaurant name, Saeng mentioned that he used to love visiting many cities outside Montreal, that always seemed to the start with 'St-Something'... hence Saint Sushi was born (St-Montreal didn't quite sound right)! The only drawbacks of this place is that they do not have a liquor license, which is not a bad thing as you can focus on the food... and the wait time, even when you have a reservation; which is also kinda ok in case you arrive late. Otherwise, if your are in for an unconventional sushi stop, then you've found it!

Yelp
My favourite sushi place in the city! Not much to say other than that you need to go and have their tasting menu. P.S. If you love the apple vinegar sashimi as much as I do, you can ask the waiters/waitresses to pour the remaining sauce into a small dish so that you don't look ridiculous licking off the plate it comes in. :)
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Delicious sushi in a small unassuming restaurant. And it is super affordable! Fixed menu was three courses and 26$ CAD per person. We sat at the bar and Raul entertained and spoiled us to some delicious sushi. It's not the typical fare -- more sweet than savory flavors. They asked for any allergies and preferences which was fantastic. Sashimi came with julienned green apple and a sweet oil. Christmas trees were interesting -- it was a shrimp/tuna mix with tempura flakes on a rice cracker. Then came the rolls. Four glorious rolls. The Beatles was my favorite (fresh and rolled in cucumber). Definitely check the place out for a great sushi dinner!

Yelp
We weren't planning on coming here during our trip to Montreal but boy am I glad we ended up here. The host was very friendly, which really made our experience that much better. We got the tuna sashimi and apples, the salmon christmas tree and the Beatles Maki. The tuna sashimi and apples was very unique. I never thought that mixing fruit with fish was appealing but this changed my mind. It was basically a sweet and sour sauce. No need for soysauce! The salmon christmas tree. One of the main reasons I wanted to try this was because- CHRISTMAS TREE! I love the holidays and the name was appealing to me. The tartare was mixed with small rice crackers on top of a Rice cracker. It was full of flavor and the crunch was a plus. Note: While the other Maki comes in 5 pieces, the Beatles comes in 4- 1 for each Beatle, the waiter explained. Not complaining because it was so good! I look forward to visiting again to try the other rolls!

Yelp
The sushi chefs were very kind and guided me in what to order as I sat at the bar. The restaurant itself has limited seating and gets pretty crowded. You have to walk up to the register to Pay. The sushi tower was delicious atop the crispy rice cracker and their naming convention was entertaining. I mean, who doesn't want a Michael Jackson roll? The guys might take their shirts off and dance if you tip them enough.
google avatar

Maude C.

Yelp
This casual sushi place is unlike most sushi restaurants. A very casual ambiance with a mix of eclectic decor. It feels like a small local neighbourhood joint more than a asian-style traditional sushi place. The menu is straight forward with a selection of signature rolls and a few tasting combos. We sat at the bar and tried the tasting menu - salmon sashimi, followed by Christmas trees (salmon and tuna tartare on a rice cracker shaped like a pyramid), and a sampler of rolls. The sushi were creative and visually interesting. There was not as much whole fish pieces to my liking in the rolls, but overall the flavour was on point. The variety of sushi was good, no two rolls had the same wrapping. The place only sits a few so make sure you call ahead if you're heading during dinner time.
google avatar

Jad B.

Yelp
This is a casual romantic place to take your date. It is a fusion sushi place very similar to Tri Express. The decor is very basic but the food is very good. You can order from the fix to taste a variety of their most wanted sushi. You will not leave the place disappointed.
google avatar

Katerina B.

Yelp
I like this place, their selection is fun and different to your regular sushi place. And it is not just the creative names, but also their original sushi meal combinations. Their Christmas tree on a cracker is a must try. I haven't been inside the restaurant yet and only had take outs, but I am looking forward to visiting the place when it reopens for dining in again.

Yelp
Saint is a posh Sushi spot in Plateau. Though busy, the staff are kind and accommodating and we were lucky to score seats on a Saturday night without a reservation. The menu is relatively short and sweet so you don't have to spend 10 mins reading every permutation of spicy salmon! The prices are a little higher than average but the quality of the fish and service justify it. The best item we tried were the "Christmas trees"; a bite sized pyramid of spicy salmon piled on a cracker. In tune with this non traditional approach, Saints also plays a steady stream of 90s hip hop which works with the vibe. Overall, despite the somewhat limited menu, this is the best sushi spot I've tried in Montreal.

Yelp
After hearing so many amazing things about Saint Sushi Bar, I finally went for dinner on a random Thursday in June. I reserved for two people at 5:30 - though there was really no need. You only need to reserve if you're going to eat after 7pm or if you're in a big group because it's a small restaurant. For $26.50 each, we ordered the tasting menu. While I don't eat just anything, and was a little worried about what I would be trying, I'm so glad that I was feeling more adventurous that day. The flavours are mind blowing, the combinations really work, and nothing was too far outside my comfort zone! Yummy. First up - salmon sashimi with green apple slaw (2 pieces each). Damn, I would love to eat that again. Though a little cilantro would have really taken it over the edge for us. Then we got the "Christmas Tree" (2 pieces each). Mmmmmmmm... basically amazingness (chopped up lobster and crab salad - I think) on a cracker. Last up, the amazing sushi platter, which included four rolls and about 10 pieces of sushi each. Every single piece was beautifully presented and delicious. While it doesn't sound like a lot of food, we left feeling full but more importantly, raving about our little foodie adventure. The ambiance was also fantastic! The employees prepping the sushi were fun and singing along to the awesome 90s playlist they had going. I will for sure return to this cool sushi spot on Duluth!

Yelp
the best sushi ever. "christmas tree" all what yiu say after tsting it is hollyyyy jesus hallelouyaaaaa i've never tasted anything like this

Yelp
This is a lovely little sushi joint on my favorite street in Montreal (Avenue Duluth). I enjoyed the Christmas Tree and the Marvin Gaye Roll. Both were sublime and unique takes. The ambiance is great with eclectic decor and lighting. I look forward to coming back to try their tasting menu. Wholly recommend!

Yelp
Had the dégustation menu and pizza sushi. The tuna pizza sushi was the best pizza sushi I ever had. The sapin sushi was also great. You won't be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and diverse

Yelp
O. M. G. This place is AMAZING! The vibe was great, everyone was super friendly, and the food was absolutely astounding. They recommended trying the Tasting Plate, which is a sampler of multiple different dishes. I highly recommend that plate. I'll even get it again when I go back every single time I visit Montreal! No such thing as bad food here.
google avatar

Yihsuan L.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner take out. The staff was friendly and informative, the food itself was okay. Like other comments mentioned, it's an American-style sushi shop but with the price, I expected something better and fresh. Having endless experiences with sushi, I would rate this restaurant a decent Montreal Japanese restaurant but not impressed -- Portionwise is quite big for a small size woman, so if you don't eat much and without a helper(s) -- hold yourself on that.

Yelp
I love this sushi resto! I've been here a handful of times and I always get the tasting menu. It never disappoints. I find its better when you go in a bigger group because then they give you more variety of sushi to try. The service is very fast and the tasting menu is filling. I always bring people here because it's good and fairly inexpensive. It's $25.50 for three courses. The only downside is that they don't serve alcohol!! it's really too bad. My favorite thing on the menu is the Christmas tree. I've had the salmon and the lobster and both are delicious! It's super tasty and crunchy. The tasting menu also comes with salmon sashimi with apples cut julienne style and a vinaigrette. For two people they also give with four different maki rolls and two sauces. One is a spicy mayo and one is a vinaigrette. I will for sure be back.

Yelp
A small place hidden in one of the most non-pretentious streets. I loved it. The ambience is beautiful with a cozy feel. Their taster platter is a must try. A sushi fan or not, you should definitely try this place. It is a little more expensive when compared to other places. However, you will know why, once you have dined there :) Each of its sushi is a special craft delight. It is hard to tell which one is my favorite!! Note to visitors: a small place, with line up. Very busy always. You would want to book in advance. Also, no alcohol served. But you won't miss it!

Yelp
Reading the reviews my expectations were high, and it was a letdown. Server told us it was "authentic" and I basically just laughed inside since I was the closest thing to authentic in the place being half Asian. I enjoyed my different rolls but got tired of them very quickly. The crab mix was overused in the rolls and I am not sure why it was even thought of. The rolls look great but flavor gets old after two pieces. I recommend sharing 4 or more rolls with a lot of people so you don't get tired of the flavor. Music choice is awful and loud.

Yelp
Nuts. NUTS how great this place is. Funky, unique, fresh, creative and insanely good sushi rolls. The Christmas Tree towers? Salmon and lobster crunch atop a rice cracker? What is going on here! Cannot wait to visit Montreal and go back. 5 stars!!!!!

Yelp
Snapshot: Freshness 5/5, Sushi Uniqueness 5/5, Value 5/5 Montreal may not be as know for sushi but the guys at Saint Sushi Bar will put it on the map. One of funkiest vibes accompanied with truly unique rolls. The Bob Marley and Christmas Tree are worth ordering. Additionally, get the Tasting Menu you will not be disappointed. 3 courses and tons of fresh fish. The service was prompt and you can't beat the price. The sushi is MTO and some of the best I've enjoyed. Enjoy and thanks guys

Yelp
After missing my connection heading home from a week long of traveling. The only thing my girlfriend and I wanted was...bomb sushi. Found this place on Yelp and we were highly impressed!! A hip and modern sushi bar near downtown Montreal on a busy street filled with restaurants and shops. The interior was dimly lit and just set off a cool vibe. The music really brought me back. They were playing 90's hip hop like Bone Thugs and Harmony - loved the music. Such a throwback! Our waitress spoke great English and was overly nice to use and helped explain anything we had questions on the menu. My girlfriend and I love sushi rolls - and that's what this place had. Lots of delicious and unique sushi rolls! The names of the rolls were very unique. Most of the rolls were named after famous music artists. We ordered an array of sushi rolls! Unfortunately, I was so exhausted from traveling I forgot all the rolls we ordered. It didn't matter tho, they were all fantastic! If I'm ever in Montreal again, I will absolutely be back here for more sushi!

Yelp
Strangely enough this was our first stop on a recent visit to Montreal. We had been driving all day and wanted something light and close by for dinner. I took out my list of places to check out and we landed here (a short walk from our hotel on St. Denis). We didn't realize it, but we arrived 5 minutes before they were closing. The place was packed and the owner quickly greeted us and said two seats would be opening up soon. He was right and we quickly got two seats at the bar. We were surprised to see the menu was in French only (oh no!), but one of the sushi chefs helped us immediately when he realized we spoke only English. He recommended doing the tasting menu so we did. All of the rolls are named after famous musicians which was really fun. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! Our favorite was the Beatles roll with mushrooms. It was fun to watch the chefs make the rolls and I was so impressed with the friendliness of the owner and other staff. They were extremely nice especially since it was so close to quitting time. I know people probably don't go to Montreal for sushi per se, but we really enjoyed this place!

Yelp
We brought my friend here for her birthday. It was busy, the servers were in no way shy about telling you that you have a deadline to order and then promptly disappearing for 30 mins. We understood, we coped, we payed just under 10$ for 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. The miso soup had something that looked like soggy pieces of romaine lettuce in it (before you ask no it was not seaweed or watercress or any other thing you might be used to finding in a miso soup). The rolls were over complicated and filled with tempura and mayonnaise to the point where you couldn't really see where the fish began and the filler ended. Don't get me wrong, these were beautiful pieces of art made with food, but I don't think anyone who calls themselves a "purist" would call it sushi since it's my understanding that sushi is about the fish not all the ingredients you put around it for look and texture. As for the "eclectic"/pan-Asian decor, well let's just say that though the Thai styled Buddha and the Ganesh statue were a bit of an odd choice, the European-looking war ship model in the corner fit right in with staff made entirely of white dudes.

Yelp
Unbelievable sushi! I come here every time I'm in Montreal! It's worth flying over just for one of their rolls! I wrote a review last time and had to write another one. GUYS, you MUST EAT HERE!

Yelp
A sushi place like no other! Unique & creative menu in a weird //but rad// ambiance. Plus, the staff is super cool. Went there for my friend's birthday so we ordered the tasting menu for two. The roll wrapped in cucumber was my favorite. It was just super light and fresh and had some kind of a unique flavor (Maybe because of the mushroom?) I was so stuffed and satisfied with what they served us 10/10 will be back

Yelp
I ordered from here as takeout during my trip in Montreal and it was PACKED when I walked in! That only showed me that it's a popular and well-loved sushi spot! It was exciting to see and the staff was so friendly and approachable The fish was fresh and the rolls were perfect, they didn't put too much rice and a great amount of fish! I wish I got to stay and eat in the actual restaurant but I'll definitely keep that in mind for my next visit

Yelp
Excellent Sushi for cheap! This restaurant offers some very interesting flavours. They are big on different tartars (tuna, salmon). Their Christmas trees are awesome. They have a wonderful tasting menu for $22. Definitely inexpensive but enough food to fill you up. Service is very attentive by the staff. They definitely take pride in the service they provide. Beware that this is a popular place for young adults (at 45 I was the oldest person by at least 10 yrs) and the music is very loud. I would recommend reservations as there is approx. 30-40 seats. Definitely will return!!!! https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155032-d4850006-r256047198-Saint_Sushi_Plateau-Montreal_Quebec.html#
