There's a lot to like about Sakana Bar Ippo, from the long counter allowing you to watch the chef at work to the friendly service and the great food.
The restaurant is on the second floor of a non-descript building on a side street in Ebisu, up a narrow and steep set of stairs. Inside, the ideal seating is along the long bar where you can interact with the chef. There's a few small tables, including one in the corner where you sit on little pillows with your shoes off at a small table.
When we went we only tried a few items - sashimi, grilled fish of the day, rice with some sort of little fish in it, salad with sashimi. All of it was very good.
The sake list is quite extensive. We don't know much about sake but the staff was more than willing to help us out and make some suggestions.
