Sakana Sushi Opens in Cambridge | Eater Boston

"Located on the stretch of Massachusetts Avenue that links Cambridge’s Central and Harvard squares—about a four-minute walk from local sushi mainstay Cafe Sushi—this recently opened spot took over the former Cafe Anthony space and serves lunch and dinner daily. While sushi is the focus, the menu also includes salads, soups, gyoza, tempura, and assorted entrees such as donburi (rice bowls), chicken katsu, and teriyaki. Sushi offerings span sashimi, nigiri, and makimono with options from salmon and tuna to sweet potato and avocado, and desserts include matcha flan and mille crêpes cakes. Open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., it bills itself as offering “traditional sushi with an intriguing twist,” and early reviewers have praised the food, presentation, and attentive staff." - Dana Hatic

Sakana Sushi is excellent! The fish bowl was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the presentation makes it even better. Great food, great service, and an overall fantastic dining experience!

Google
I truly love this place! It may look humble from the outside, but the quality of the food is anything but—it could easily rival that of a fine dining restaurant. One of the bittersweet parts of graduating from Harvard and leaving Cambridge is knowing I’ll also be leaving this behind. Such a pleasant and unexpected gem, tucked among a sea of overpriced and overrated spots. The price is very very fair. All the specials are worth trying—my personal favorite is Phoenix!! :) The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food always comes out surprisingly fast.

Google
Even though the restaurant is quite small, everything tastes really fresh. I recommend the raw scallop appetizer. Maybe skip on the spider roll though.

Rania M.

Google
The best sushi I have tried in the area. The flavors were creative and fish was so fresh!

Google
We visited the restaurant and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience regarding the service near closing time. We arrived at 2:00 PM (they close at 3:00 PM) and promptly ordered an appetizer. At 2:30 PM, we were told to place our main course order because the kitchen was closing which we understood, even though it felt a bit early. We finished our meal well within time. At 2:55 PM, the check was brought to us, and we paid right at 2:50PM. To our surprise, at 2:59PM, the staff asked us to leave the restaurant. We understand that restaurants have set hours, but expecting customers to leave exactly at closing time especially when they’ve already paid and finished eating feels rushed and unwelcoming. A grace period of 10 to 15 minutes would be the minimum expected at any good establishment. We left feeling like we were being kicked out definitely not the kind of experience that makes us want to return or recommend the place.

Google
Ordered $70 worth of sushi delivery, got subpar sushi that can only be described as disappointing. Tiny nigiri portions, squirmy fish texture, and a stale taste. Perhaps it would be better fresh and in person, but definitely not worth delivering.

Google
A great place for delicious sushi. Really good lunch sets, too! Beware though that bento boxes may include non-vegetarian dumplings, so if it matters for you, make sure you ask.

Google
The Sakana Roll is pretty good. I especially liked the seared salmon and jalapeños on the outside as they imparted a nice flavor to the roll, but the mango inside felt unnecessary and detracted from the dish.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!! The sushi is so good! The service is amazing, food comes out fast too. It's a chill and relaxing vibe. Highly recommend for a go-to local spot!

Yelp
Still my GO TO sushi place cuz I love their Cambridge Garden roll. Very unique!!! However, the portions and their prices are becoming more and more ridiculous. $20 for a tiny roll?! $10 for a small thing of shishito peppers?! Outrageous ... especially during these times. I still fully recommend this place for the taste and quality, but the amount you get for the price is pure heartache. Can't comment on the ambiance cuz I always UberEats this, but for the service, it's always very quick and exactly how we order it.

Yelp
Your run of the mill Sushi place. Nothing too fancy but will do the trick if you're in the mood! The servers were extremely nice and welcoming.

Yelp
Came to Sakana on a whim, and honestly this was some so-so sushi. Their fish doesn't taste particularly high quality. Their Tuna Sashimi wasn't good, it was a bit hard to chew. Their Salmon options tasted way better. No issues with service though, their staff all seemed very nice.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Even though the place is pretty small and cozy, the wait goes by quite fast. My favorite was the torched raw scallop--so much flavor. We sat at the sushi bar so it was nice to see our food being made fresh.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
This is a small sushi restaurant. We had to wait a while to be seat. The service is quick. The rolls are good. I can tell the chef makes their own sauce. The Hokkaido roll is excellent with the yuzu sauce. I tried their sashimi dinner. The fish is very fresh. I like the sushi rice which I can taste the seasoning.

Yelp
I ordered takeout here. For two people, we each ordered one roll and got the spicy tuna rice tots to share. They gave us utensils for one person in the bag...and indeed, the rolls were quite small and it was more of a one-person sized serving. The quality of the fish was delicious and it was plated nicely. I didn't like the texture of the rice tots themselves, though I liked the fish on top.
google avatar

Lin W.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and were seated instantly. The lunch specials are super reasonable. We both got the sushi lunch ($16 each), which comes with miso soup, a salad, and five nigiri with a spicy tuna roll. Service was great and fast.

Yelp
10 minute wait on a Tuesday! Not much seating so it makes sense. But really yummy and so worth it. Orders came out SUPER fast, which was slightly alarming haha. I got the salmon oyakodon which came with salmon, torched salmon belly, ikura, and masago. It was $24 and so worth it! I think the ikura portions have gotten slightly smaller over time, but still definitely worth the price. Sashimi pieces were thick. Really high quality and really enjoyed (5/5). Staff were really attentive and cleaned up our plates right away. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will be going again! One of the highest quality / worth it sushi in Boston area.

Yelp
Standard, reliable sushi rolls, nothing crazy with affordable pricing for people who want sushi. I felt slightly disrespected by service, which I'll talk about in the latter portion of the review (this is where I deduct 2 stars). I am a big fan of having sushi mostly ungarnished to appreciate the fish on its own, but I branched out from my usual and wasn't disappointed. Soft shell crab (10/10): I love soft shell crab, the tobiko and eel sauce gave it a sweet and saltiness. Very standard roll. Sakana roll (9/10): I like this one a little less, just because I was overwhelmed by ~stuff~ but the chili oil crunch was a nice touch. I really loved how buttery the torched salmon was. Yellowtail roll (10/10): not much to say, standard and good. Service was subpar. There were two other tables in the restaurant who had walked in after I had sat down. When I was sat, I was not brought water until after the other tables had gotten it and after I had asked for it, and the first time I was greeted when I was asked if I was ready to order, which again, was after the other tables ordered. It was a disappointing and a bit offensive. I would order takeout here but probably not come back to the establishment itself. I try to separate service from the food, but it all felt a little rude and unwelcoming.

Yelp
This was our 3rd time here and it's definitely my favorite sushi spot in the Somerville, Cambridge, Medford area. While it's a small restaurant with about 5 tables and 4 bar seats, we've never had to wait more than 10 min for a table on a Friday or Saturday night. Additionally, the food is always fresh and comes out quick. What I like so much about this place is the unique combinations of the sushi. Especially the Sakana, Hokkaido and Spicy Mango Avocado rolls. What we ordered: - Sakana Makimono: We get this every time. The jalapeño and crunchy sesame soy sauce are amazing - Hokkaido Makimono: We get this every time. The spicy yuzu miso sauce is delicious - Rocky Road Makimono: First time trying this and would make this a staple in our order - Hot Chili Maki: solid - Spicy Mango Avocado: love this simple unique roll - Spicy Crispy Shrimp: solid

Yelp
Awesome fresh sushi in Harvard square at a reasonable price. Small space but fast service and decent selection of special rolls. I did find myself wishing for some more adventurous rolls besides the classics, but what we had was great! 1. Spicy tuna / salmon - 4/5 2. Shrimp tempura - 3/5 3. Snow mountain - 5/5 4. Deluxe spicy tuna - 5/5

Yelp
If I had to choose a couple items for my last meal on Earth, sushi from Sakana would be on there. Sakana is a small gem that I found out about 2 years ago. I came here with a hungry friend and we ordered 5 rolls EACH. Yes, this is a small hole in the wall place and yes, it's a SUPER casual place. But I absolutely love coming here. Service is very attentive and the place is clean. My favorite rolls to get here are the Hokkaido and the Sakana, but every piece of fish that you put in your mouth from here is fresh. I have not had a bad experience and I hope it stays that way. Sakana is also very affordable (for sushi) and the quality is top notch. The place is definitely a no frills type of spot. There are plenty of street parking and is super accessible by bus/ a 10 minute walk from either Central/ Harvard Red Line. They also offer a few alcoholic beverages like wine, beer, and sake. Definitely come here and you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
The sushi was very good and fresh. We had the snow mountain, unagi sashimi and the kampachi crudo. Parking was ok as long as u download the parking app. Overall we liked it.

Yelp
Tried the most 2 popular dishes in yelp: Nigiri Dinner & Seared Salmon Belly. The sushi quality in general is good. But I don't understand why they put sauce on all sushi. I like the squid and scallop the most. They are sweet. The salmon in the nigiri dinner is very ok. The salmon belly is a bit fishy. I order salmon all the time, but this fishy is not the ordinary fishy. In general, I still like the food. The price is reasonable. And the service is good. Table is a bit small for 2 persons and the space is a bit small. Good that not many people on Sunday lunch time. Otherwise it may be loud and a bit lack of privacy if it's packed.
google avatar

Olivia K.

Yelp
Absolutely love this spot! The restaurant itself is relatively small and cozy, so there is usually a wait! The fish tastes very fresh and delicious! I usually get their Nigiri Dinner, and each chef's selection is fun, special, and different each time. Their shrimp and veggie tempura was good too. I would definitely recommend this spot for their great tasting sushi and good value!

Suzie R.

Yelp
The reviews are all over the place and you're wondering which to believe. Bottom line: the sushi is pretty so/so, the menu is limited and the space is spare.
google avatar

Justin N.

Yelp
We ordered to go sushi and a chicken bento box. The chicken was great and we enjoyed the bento box. The sushi was mediocre and sloppily made. I was a bit surprised given Sakana having a better rating than most. Perhaps the Boston area isn't a hotbed for sushi like other cities

Olivia F.

Yelp
Fishy, malodorous and inedible! Worst sushi I have had in a really long time. Would be better off with grocery store sushi
google avatar

Naya S.

Yelp
100% would recommend:)) Salmon roll was excellent with the crispy tempura but I've had better edamame. Service was also very nice, fast service and water cup never stayed empty for too long. Also had a clean bathroom !

Yelp
Another hidden gem in the Greater Boston area! I came here for the first time recently and had a great first impression- the staff were extremely helpful and the fish was so fresh! We ordered the salmon salsa taro chip ($11), salmon oyakodon ($21), and chirashi donburi ($22). The server notified us that they were low on salmon but offered to replace the salmon in our appetizer with tuna. We enjoyed the tuna salsa. It had the perfect mix of fresh tuna pieces, crispy peppers, and the saltiness was just right. This dish did not skimp on the fish! The servers kept an eye on our plate and offered to get us more taro chips when they saw that we ran out. The taro chips were hardly salted at all but I liked how the starchiness and crunchiness balanced with the soft, savory tuna. I would totally get the salmon oyakodon again. The bowl was loaded with salmon roe which added so much fattiness and richness to everything! My favorite part was the seared salmon belly and its crispy, fragrant chili oil on top. The bowl didn't look super big at first but ended up being quite filling. There was just enough rice that every bite had salmon roe and tobiko. The chirashi bowl had a huge variety of fish, all of which were very fresh. The seared tuna with chili oil was, again, my favorite part of the bowl. The price point for the raw fish donburi is pretty comparable to what you'd get at other spots around the city. The vibes of the restaurant are homey while sleek. I highly recommend this spot!
google avatar

H S.

Yelp
very limited and basic selection of fish. Sushi rice tasted not fully cooked and pasty, as though it hadn't been washed before cooking, and lacked any discernible vinegar or other seasoning. Tempura batter was heavy.
google avatar

Yelp
Great small sushi restaurant right on Mass Ave in Cambridge. Specialty rolls such as Sakana, Rocky Road, and Crimson are really impressive with a variety of flavors and textures. Standard sushi such as salmon avocado also very good. Great service and great sake options as well. Small space but very cute and comfortable for a date night.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
My experience here was pretty good. Host and server were really nice. They even accommodated switching out the shrimp items bc I'm allergic to shrimp. The sushi boat filled me up, everything tasted fresh and the presentation was nice. One thing I didn't like but totally out of their control was how close I was to the next table. I could hear the conversation next to me which was awkward. I would come back again.

Yelp
BLUF: Sad rolls and unfulfilling. We went to Dumpling House immediately after, to wash the disappointment out of our mouths. How misled we were when choosing Sakana. The high 4.5 star reviews and well lit photos really made us think we were choosing a quaint sushi shop in Cambridge. Their "signature rolls" had as much fish in it as supermarket sushi. No... that's not fair, supermarket sushi actually has more fish. The Rocky Roll had primarily cucumber, crispy shallots, covered in a mango sauce, and some slices of salmon that was touted to be on the roll too. The Spicy Crispy Shrimp, not spicy, not seasoned, not crispy shrimp. The toppings for the Chirashi was of poor quality. The egg was not made to order, it was cold and rubbery. The clam left a soapy taste. The sashimi pieces... meeeeehhhhhhh. The harshness of this review is not lost on me (we still ate a good portion of it. Thanks, sunk-cost fallicy), however, anyone who has ever ordered a restaurant's SIGNATURE roll expects it to be grandiose! Not worse looking and tasting than a simple California roll.
google avatar

Angie V.

Yelp
The sushi rolls were great, tasty and with fresh ingredients. The staff was also very nice. However, this place heavily needs a very deep cleaning. Everything is stained, the curtains behind the seating area are terribly gross. The bathroom needs full renovation along with the ceiling.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
I'm usually very picky with the quality of my raw fish, and Sakana is consistent with serving good sushi. I got a donburi and a couple of rolls, my favorite was the Crimson Makimono - crunchy on the outside and smoked salmon was a great pair! I've also got the takeout bento boxes for lunch. It is a good portion size and more than enough to fill you up.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
I recently ordered takeout from this sushi place and I have to say, I was blown away. I got the salmon bowl which came with three types of salmon - seared, regular, and salmon roe. Even though I haven't had the chance to visit the restaurant in-person yet, my takeout order arrived in a little over an hour and it was still super fresh when it got here. The house salad was also loaded with fresh greens and the ginger dressing was loaded with flavor.
google avatar

Nina W.

Yelp
The wait staff was very courteous and attentive without being overbearing. The place is very snug with six tables for two and one table for 4+4 seats at the sushi bar. The sushi was very fresh and the menu had just enough variety without being too overwhelming with too many choices.
google avatar

Lisa P.

Yelp
Me and my friend got the sushi boat because it was worth it to split. We also got the salmon bowl. I mainly liked the salmon and not the other fishes. This place seated us immediately and inside is kind of small, but it was comfortable and casual. I saw many couples on dates here though.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
4 of my friends and I came for dinner on a Friday evening. We didn't have a reservation since we weren't sure if Sakana took them. When we arrived, we were surprised by how small the space was. There were a ton of people there too, which was a good sign. I ordered the caterpillar Maki and snow mountain maki. I was kind of surprised by how small the caterpillar rolls were, at least compared to other sushi places I've been to/ordered this from. Regardless, they tasted great! I really liked the snow mountain Maki! I loved the crunchiness from the tempura flakes and the tobiko! I'm also a sucker for eel sauce, so that was a huge plus for me! I will add that my friend ordered the dragon Makimono and gave me a piece - it was beyond delicious. I wish I had ordered that instead! Overall, we had a great experience! I'll be back for the dragon makimono next time I'm in the area!
google avatar

Steph J.

Yelp
I was super happy with my meal here. No frills, no fluff, just good sushi at reasonable prices. Got the nigiri entree and one specialty roll, and that was all I needed to feel content. This is the way I like my sushi too- nothing piled on top of it, not swimming in sauce, not covered in goop and tempura crumbs. I like it pure, clean, and fresh so that I can actually taste the main stars: the fish! Isn't that a novel idea... It is a smaller restaurant with a handful or so of tables, but could accommodate a couple of larger groups. Would definitely return! And I think it'd be kid-friendly if you needed that.
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Unexpected gem on our walk through Cambridge. We got the katsu and eel bento boxes as well as some gyoza. Food came out fast and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The way they make their sushi rice was especially good and the miso was rich and flavorful. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the shishito pepper tempura as I didn't think it went well with the flavors of the other tempura items. We went for a late lunch around 1pm and were seated immediately. It's a small space but it was after the lunch rush. Also looked like they were fielding a good amount of takeout orders. Service was great. Prompt, efficient, cleared our tables of used plates often and refilled water often. Only complaint was bathroom was out of supplies like toilet paper and paper towels. Would definitely stop by here again and highly recommend!
google avatar

Nat B.

Yelp
Sakana was decent! I got their Crimson Roll, and it was not what I expected... The next time I come back, I'll try their other rolls. And their Chicken Teriyaki was good! I was hoping for their chicken to be more marinated, but it's okay for what it is! Service was great, and inside is pretty chill and not loud.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, nice service, overall a great experience! Came here as a party of two on a Friday night and we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The space was overall a little smaller than I had imagined and we ended up at the sushi bar with the room staying relatively full for the rest of the meal. Our server was kind and took our orders quickly as well as refilled water whenever we needed it periodically throughout the meal which was greatly appreciated. The food came out in a reasonable time and was plated well - it looked great! I had the combo and thought each piece was flavored well and had a good ratio of rice to fish. I will say that the Snow Mountain roll was almost too wet - the crab was definitely overly moist. Other than that though, I enjoyed the combo a lot. The dragon roll was also well-made and overall tasted really nice. The price didn't exactly match the quantity of sushi ( and I was warned beforehand that the size of the rolls was a little disappointing by a friend ), but since it tasted delicious, that wasn't a huge deal. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back here another time in the future. The sushi was good and the experience was nice - definitely a great sushi spot in the Central / Harvard area!
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch again - even more quickly than I expected when I wrote my last review! I was with three friends this time, so we got to try even more of the yummy options here. We got a sushi lunch, a spicy salmon roll, a salmon avocado roll, and the (very large) makimono combo - which I would strongly recommend! It's a great size for two or three people to share - three rolls with some assortment of tuna, red crab, shrimp, eel, imitation crab, and lots of other delicious toppings. Overall, all the sushi was extremely fresh, as usual, and it was great to be able to try such a wide variety of different fish in the combo order. We were all super full at the end of our lunch - and for such a great price, I will be back (yet again!) soon :)

Yelp
Looks like I just found my new fav sushi spot in Boston! I absolutely loved the salmon belly nigiri, soft shell crab roll, spicy salmon-avocado roll, and crème brûlée. Our server Kevin was so helpful and understanding with our substitution requests. The salmon belly was perfectly torched and had the right amount of fat. I really appreciate how balanced the flavors are between the rice, toppings, insanely good quality fish, and sauces. Sushi is one of those foods that I want to eat as soon as it is made in order to get the freshest possible bite. So I really like that the sushi came out sooo quickly even though we ordered quite a few items. We came when all the tables were full and the place seemed busy too. It's good to note that this restaurant is pretty small, maybe 8-9 tables? And everyone is seated really close together. I deducted one star because the Crimson Roll was really disappointing. As one of the most expensive rolls on the menu, I was really expecting the unique flavor combination to work. But it didn't because the mango and creamy sauce stood out in a weird way that didn't allow me to enjoy the texture and flavor of the fish. Also don't skip the crème brûlée for dessert. You'll thank me later:)

Yelp
Honestly some of the best sushi we have ever had. Sakana is top notch and affordable, a combo not easily found. Our new favorite!

Yelp
I had to change my review. Why? Because I ordered dine-in. So my last review I was a little confused why I paid $50 to take out roughly 8 square inches of sushi. Now I realize why. Because I should have paid $50 for 8 square inches of sushi served elegantly in a really nice setting. Let's be honest, this place isn't cheap. But if you want a nice relaxing sushi meal, it's pretty darn good. And the sushi is good, definitely better in person than it was from delivery. They may have changed it since the first time I ordered. Or maybe I just had better company. I don't know, but what I do know is this place is pretty good. I'd say Cafe Sushi for takeout, Sakana for sit-down.

Yelp
Excellent service . This is Japanese restaurant with affordable price. The sushi and sashimi is great. Nice cut of fish and feel fresh. We ordered 5 different plates and rolls they were all great.

Yelp
The delivery sushi and food from this place was great! We were craving a mixture of sushi and regular Japanese food and landed on Sakana. Our order came with 2 miso soups :) pleasant surprise we weren't expecting. Also loved that it came with the little trays for wasabi and soy sauce! Overall great food, the fish was fresh, and rolls unique and filling. Would def order from here again. (Thanks for not skimping out on the wasabi or ginger!) Torched salmon belly sashimi - 4 pieces, on the skinnier side (see photos) but very tasty, fatty as it's supposed to be, and fresh Avocado salad - loved this! Had some imitation crab mixed in and is a creamy nice palate opener California roll - this basic roll and wasn't bad! Good amount of avocado and imitation crab. Inside out makimono - my bf loved this one, it had shrimp and avocado inside, with seared spicy tuna on the outside, lots of tobiko on the outside too Sakana makimono - my fav of the two rolls, has spicy tuna and mango inside, seared salmon jalapeno and scallion outside, don't be afraid it's not spicy at all (bc I don't think there were any seeds at all in the jalapeño slices) and it's got a great crunch on the outside. Mango on the inside is not overpowering or anything and I hardly noticed the flavor (I was worried it would make the roll weird tasting, but it didn't at all) Gyu donburi - good portion of beef and large portion of rice, beef was tender and thinly sliced. I actually couldn't finish all the rice, also came with pickled radish and seaweed salad. The egg came a little more well done than I prefer, but the flavor was still there and I did still enjoy it. Chicken teriyaki - tender grilled chicken and the sauce was on the side which was great so it didn't get soggy and overpower the chicken, and you can add on as much sauce as you want. Otherwise it wasn't too standout of a dish, probably wouldn't order this one again.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, good sushi, fast service. I particularly enjoyed the specialty rolls I tried, the inside out and the dragon, as well as the nigiri which had a delicious sauce coating. Everything else I ordered was pretty standard but made well, though odd to me to see a rainbow roll with no avocado. Definitely recommend to a sushi lover!

Yelp
Very nice person who answered the phone and took our order. Great value for the sushi you get. Ordered the Nigiri Dinner and Makimono Combo Special as well as the Seared Salmon Belly. Really hit the spot.

Yelp
My partner and I really enjoyed our visits to Sakana pre-COVID, and have been getting takeout here relatively regularly since restaurants reopened. The fish is always fresh, and I really enjoy the presentation (even in takeout containers!). I got the sashimi lunch last weekend: There's a lot of variety (salmon, tuna, etc.), and I especially enjoy the one with the garlicky dressing. A lot of their lunch specials come with miso soup and salad, and I like that the miso soup is flavorful but not overwhelmingly salty. The lunch specials feel like fairly balanced meals. The takeout process is fairly clear. According to the website, orders should be ready 20-30 minutes after placing the order. Someone called me to let me know when my order was ready too. Pro-tips: 1) You get 10% off if you order online through their website for pickup. 2) The lunch specials are very affordable.

Yelp
I heard excellent reviews about this place, and I was excited to try a new sushi experience in Cambridge. Food I've tried: - MAKIMONO COMBO SPECIAL ($34): comes with snow mountain (8 pieces), caterpillar (8 pieces), and spicy crisp shrimp (3 pieces). The rice was not overly salty and everything was well seasoned. I especially liked the crunch of the tempura on the spicy crisp shrimp. The fish quality was good, not the best I've ever had but definitely still good. I was decently satisfied by the portion of the food I got. Atmosphere: - I really loved how the inside is very sunny and bright. - The store is pretty small with few tables. I visited during an off peak time, but I am not sure how crowded it becomes during peak times. Service: - The staff was extremely friendly! I actually visited on my birthday and mentioned it to the waitress. They were kind enough to bring out a plate with a small dessert and happy birthday written on it :) I truly appreciated the thoughtfulness of the staff and the chef. Overall: - A lovely place to visit for sushi. The price is pretty average for sushi, not too high considering the quality of the fish. Depending on what you get, the price may be a smidge on the higher side. - I gave it 4 stars because for the same quality, I have been to other sushi restaurants that have offered better pricing. Additionally flavor wise it was a pretty standard sushi experience, nothing mind blowing. That said, if you are in the area craving sushi this is a solid place to come by.

Yelp
This was my second visit, and I ordered the same thing as my first visit: the nigiri dinner. On my first visit, I was disappointed because each nigiri was covered with this inexplicably sweet sauce! It was the weirdest tasting nigiri I've had. This time around however, although they looked similarly covered in sauce, thank goodness it was shoyu and not some sweet sauce--which explained my first visit as probably some sort of mistake from the kitchen, maybe a new guy. The nigiri dinner was in fact great tasting, the neta used were varied, with only salmon being used twice (one for raw nigiri, the other was torched abura salmon style). It's not exactly very affordable at $28 (8 nigiris and and 6 spicy tuna rolls, I'd rather have 10 nigiris and 3 rolls...), but with the quality offered I think it's worth it, and one of the few great sushis in greater Boston. I'll definitely be back for the nigiris.

Yelp
I'm not usually a sushi fan but this stuff was great! Nice little restaurant which my friends and I were lucky enough to get a table for 5.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME!! It's right near my work so I decided to stop in for their lunch specials. $15 makimono lunch special gets you 3 maki rolls, soup and salad. I think that's an amazing deal for what you get. The quality of the sushi was great for the price -- I hate it when cheaper places load up on the rice and they didn't. The salad dressing was also not your typical sushi restaurant ginger dressing -- I loved the addition of crunchy onions on top. They also have the convenience of ordering ahead online, which I love. I can order it to be ready right when my lunch break starts!! I will definitely be returning here in the future.

Yelp
Favorite spot for sushi in Cambridge. The fish is always great and the staff are very friendly. There is not a lot of space so on a busy night there can be a wait for a table. It can also get a little loud inside and you might feel very close to the next table over. For Cambridge it is also pretty reasonable for the sizes and quality. My favorites are the Salmon Donburi, Sakana roll, and the crispy rice tuna tots. Always a safe bet for great sushi. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.
