Google
Delicious food and friendly service. I have been craving Japanese curry, and they did not disappoint. The hot plum sake is a must! I don't eat sushi, but the happy look on my husband's face let me know the sushi was great, too. This tasted just like the katsu curry I had in Kyoto, and it made my day!

Brian Baker

Google
Friendly staff. Clean place. Ramen was flavorful, yet required additional cost to add veggies to make it filling. Beef Curry Rice also only had 2 or 3 small meat cubes and the rest was gravy and rice, which did taste good. Overall, a bit pricey for what we got and we all left somewhat unsatisfied.

Google
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly staff. They had a couple of vegetarian ramen options and the Tan Tan ramen was so tasty. I’d definitely come back here again!

Google
They have a great happy hour here! We had some delicious appetizers and sushi for a really good price. Our waiter was super nice too! I do wish they had a few more speciality roll options and maybe some that were more unique. But overall everything tasted very good!

The first thing I noticed was the staff. They are all incredibly friendly and attentive, and clearly passionate about customer satisfaction. I don't usually crave sushi, but the sushi here was delicious. All the fish meat was delightfully tender, and tasty toppings are no doubt Sakana's specialty. The wooden boats are a nice touch. I ordered the spicy miso ramen bowl, which was very good. The pork practically melted in my mouth. 🤩 We dined in for my brother's birthday, and the staff were especially accommodating and gave us free service. Overall, a 5 star experience. Would dine again. 👍

Google
The kaibashira nigiri was so good. The salmon, tuna nigiri were also excellent. The takoyaki was good and included more octopus than other places that serve this. I was not a fan of the curry ramen, because I wanted more curry flavor and aroma. The chicken was overcooked though. I'll try the curry rice next time I'm in town. Service was great. Mauro was thorough and patient!

Google
I absolutely had the best experience here. My waiter, Jarrod, was amazing and super friendly! Chatted about a series I was watching and he was so nice! Shout out to his gf who is also watching the same series! And big thanks for the glass of wine! The sushi was amazing and my order came out timely. I love the ambiance. They turned the lights a little lower and it was perfect for the evening. I went there solo and was very comfortable and enjoyed my dinner so much and got to try Uni for the first time and it was delicious! I can’t wait to go back and to tell my friends about this place!

Google
5 stars 🌟 🤩 ✨️ excellent experience. The inside is fully remodeled with beautiful live plants everywhere. The menu was very large with plenty of options. Highly recommend the sushi. The server was fantastic. Quick and fresh, we shall be returning!!!

Yelp
Got some sushi to go from here, and we really enjoyed it. Will def be coming back in the future. The inside looked full but they did have some open seats at the countertop. I'm not sure if they usually let people dine in there or just waiting for to go orders. Haven't tried ramen but it appears to be popular there.

Yelp
This Japanese restaurant was great. The price is quite reasonable and tasted quite good. Take this rating with a grain of salt as I did not order any ramen. My friends ordered the curry ramen and the spicy miso ramen and they let me try both of them out. The spicy miso ramen's broth's depth was just right for my taste palette and the noodle was firm and bouncy which is what you're looking for. The curry's flavor was mild for my taste, but still good nonetheless. I ordered the small sushi platter with my friends for $88. It came with four pieces of salmon, yellowfish, tuna, and shrimp nigiri. All of the cuts on the sushi were fatty and tasted great. The wasabi also had the kick that it should have. The service and wait time is what you should expect for a restaurant, but they do say "Welcome" in Japanese if that piques your interest. The interior design is pretty minimal, nothing mich to say.

Yelp
Being in the center of the states, sushi can be pretty meh. However, Sakana was quite delicious. It was quite busy when we got there but found seating quickly. The sushi tasted fresh and it was delicious. The unagi and fatty tuna were tasty. The fried chicken was nicely crisped so it's quite crunchy with each bite. The takoyaki was super flavorful and you can taste a nice blend of the sauce with the batter and the octopus. Just delicious little bite. The ramen was pretty good. It wasn't a standout. My bf recommends the curry ramen next time so if you're looking for a recommendation, I would try that. It's quite spacious and nicely decorated. Staff is friendly. Food comes out quick. Can't complain much.

Yelp
Delicious food at a super affordable price! It's a small space so there might be a wait for a table but it is well worth it. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful and the food came out quickly. The sushi was fresh and simple, which is the way good sushi should be. Don't sleep on visiting Sakana if you're in the Denver area!

Yelp
After a long hard week of moving into our new place, we stopped at Sakana. First things first, do not let the exterior fool you - the interior has such a cute, neutral, clean and foresty vibe. It is warm and inviting and even the music that is playing is pleasant. On a Thursday evening we were sat almost immediately and our serve was at the table within minutes taking our food order. Our server was Jared and he was absolutely delightful! He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, anticipated our asks and for the one small mistake that did happen (our daughter's tuna roll had wasabi on it - it comes that way and we didn't know) he was very quick to have it adjusted and so kind. Now onto the food: We ordered: - Pork Gyoza 5/5 - Spicy Miso Ramen 3.5/5 - Spicy Tuna Rolls 3/5 - Crunch Spicy Tuna Roll 4/5 - Tuna Roll 5/5 The Pork Gyoza is just as everyone says, amazingly delicious and cooked to perfection. It had the perfect balance of flavor. The broth of the Spicy Miso Ramen was delicious, we have been searching for a good spicy ramen, and while the broth on this one met our expectations, the other additions (egg and bok choy, pork and noodles) did not retain the flavor well. The spicy tuna was not spicy at all, I almost thought to ask if we had accidentally received the regular tuna. However, it was extremely fresh and still had good flavor. The crunchy spicy tuna had a bit more flavor, not so much spice, but flavorful in its additions. Lastly - the tuna roll, again very fresh, but it served with wasabi if you do not ask for it off - not my cup of tea, but could be excellent for the target audience. For all of this we spent less than $100 including drinks. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would come back for the service alone.

Yelp
I've been to this place twice now and had really good experiences! I've never had the sushi here, but I love going to this spot for Japanese comfort food. Entrées are $11-$17, so it's a great place to have a nice dinner without breaking the bank. I would recommend coming early since the restaurant is small and tends to fill up quickly. The appetizers are great, most notable are chicken karage, takoyaki, and gyoza. I absolutely love the Ramen here! The broth is flavorful and noodles are never overcooked. You can tell they put a lot of love into their Ramen! The curry beef bowl is rich in flavor and so hearty. To make it more filling, I'd recommend adding a cutlet because it's mostly curry sauce over rice. They offer competitive pricing for drinks as well. You can get sake for $4-$7 and large Japanese beer for $7. They have wine, but I don't believe they serve cocktails here. Overall, a lovely tucked-away spot where food is made with a lot of love!

Yelp
What a find! Came here last night based on Yelp! reviews. This is a true hidden gem and so glad I found it. Inside very quaint, clean and well lit. Staff here is awesome and for sure 5 star! Super friendly , knowledgeable and really made this a 5 star experience. For food I started off with the karaage chicken and while a little different than what I am used to but regardless it was delicious. I had the spicy miso ramen with added chayu, seasoned pork and added egg. Normally most ramen comes with an egg but this is a little $$$ either way this was so delicious! Can't even explain how fresh and amazing is was. What a great experience on a hidden gem located in a non obscure strip mall in the corner but it was worth every bite. Will for sure be back!

Yelp
Sakana has been my go to Ramen and sushi joint. The owners are super awesome servers are very nice. If you've not tried their food, you must go. Ramen is always amazing. The Noodles are always fresh in the perfect chew. If you're a fan of Curry, try the curry Ramen best in town no questions asked. My girlfriend love the sushi specifically the Unagi and fatty tuna. Also, if you're going get the Takayuki.
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Sunday and we were able to get a table right away. We got the dragon roll California roll and a specialty roll plus Unagi Nigri. Everything was tasty. The service was really good. Prices were OK and restaurant had nice decor. Good sushi if you're nearby but nothing to travel for.

Yelp
Definitely what I would consider a hole in the wall. This place is touched in a small business strip that seems unlikely to have such a great restaurant! The space is super cute and feels very cool. The style is minimalistic! I was so pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything we ordered was so great and I legitimately compared this place to some of the bigger names sushi spots. The staff was friendly and attentive. Nothing to complain about and would certainly go back.

Cooper H.

Yelp
Gets better and better everytime we go, the eel roll and the Geso-age are a must! Always a treat to dine in at Sakana.

Casey T.

Yelp
Nicest staff, best & freshest tasting sushi we have found in the Denver area. Never had a bad bite! Our go to spot

Yelp
The staff were respectful and kind, but the food was cold and gave my whole family excruciating diarrhea.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday There was a little bit of a wait but nothing crazy. It actually went a lot quicker than I thought. The decor and quality of the sushi is what really brings this place together. It's very minimalistic, plant oriented, clean and modern. I absolutely loved the vibes. We got spicy miso ramen, a roll that had eel on the top and a vegetarian roll. We also got green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. 4/5 stars because the service was pretty meh. I was excited to be there on my birthday but the server kept rolling her eyes every-time she walked to our table. Kinda ruined the vibe a bit. I'm not sure if she just assumed we wouldn't tip or what. Speaking as a past server, never assume someone may not have the means for a nice tip. I'll need to try again to see how the service is.

Yelp
Sushi at this restaurant is top shelf. Service is awesome and the waitress I had was on the spot and making sure our party was taken care of. One of our party had the curry beef and said it was excellent. I will go back again soon. Only thing unpleasant was the chairs.
google avatar

Karla K. I.

Yelp
Modern&simple decor inside, good service and food. Smaller menu with good choices. We had a Geso age, Kara age, picked different fish/nigiris and ramen! The nigiris were fresh and good size bite. Their salmon belly nigiri is a must try. We will definitely go often for their nigiris and appetizers!

Neil S.

Yelp
This place has steadily declined in quality and service. When we started going, there was always a line out the door and a wait list. The experience was always excellent. Since Covid, the place has obviously struggled. We just went tonight with our two young children. There were plenty of open tables on a Friday night in prime time, and they decided to tell us us we were violating some food regulation by giving our infant some raspberries to keep him from throwing a tantrum. Historically, it was never an issue. I don't know why I bothered getting a law degree and license to practice if all I had to be to interpret government regulations, save the public from raspberries, and prevent parents from having a night out was a middle of the road waiter. Needless to say, our last attempt to let this place regain our business failed. If you want to give the place a shot, I'm sure they'll consistently have more and more open seats on any weekend you choose. We're ordering in from sushi bay tonight instead, so our kids can nibble on a berry or two.

Yelp
Sakana is a pretty popping spot! We arrived at 4:45pm to a full restaurant. This surprised us because it only opened at 4:30pm. With that kind of first impression, we were expecting some pretty phenomenal food! We started the meal off with Geso-age. As described by the menu, these are crispy, deep-fried marinated squid legs with spicy mayo. They were GREAT! I remember telling my husband, "Wow, I'm impressed. These have just the right amount batter, crunch and are not oil. Win!" Unfortunately, this is was where the biggest win of the night came. For our main course, we split the Special K Roll, Sakana Roll, Negihama (Yellowtail + Scallion) and Kani (Snow Crab). In terms of taste, I'd rate as follows... Special K Roll: 3.5 -- It surprisingly didn't have much flavor. It was also not wrapped tight enough and fell apart when trying to pick it up with chopsticks. Sakana Roll: 3.6 -- It surprisingly didn't have much flavor but was better than the Special K Roll. Negihama: 4.5 -- Surprisingly, great flavor! I figured with it having the least amount of ingredients that it'd be less tasty than the rolls, but I was wrong. It had twice as much flavor as the bigger and more expensive rolls. I'd order this again and again. Kani: 1.5 -- Oh, this bite of sashimi was extremely salty and watery. Typically, Kani is our favorite at sushi spots, however, this did not taste fresh at all. So why do I still give it 4 stars if the food experience was not the best? My four stars is for the well-roundedness of the establish, for my understanding that I may have not ordered the dishes they are known for, and for the fact that we can all have a bad night. The food may have been off but the kindest of the staff and atmosphere they created was ON. That counts for an extra star in my book!

Yelp
Excellent prompt service Plenty of parking Fresh fish-chirasi had a nice variety of fish and sushi rice was perfectly seasoned. Fried squid: well seasoned, crispy, not greasy Katsudon: tons of flavor with pickled eggplant Spicy miso ramen- good amount of spice. Noodles were chewy Shoyu ramen- broth lacked flavor Yellowtail scallion roll- fresh and delicious. 6 small pieces per order Unagi cucumber roll- also very good Overall an excellent choice in Westminster!

Annie O.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal and the service and ambiance match. It's a hidden gem in the burbs and a must-try. The spicy miso ramen bowl, sakana roll and sake are our favorites. Very cozy. Definitely recommend! (The takeout is equally as great.)

Ruth M.

Yelp
This place has been so fantastic both times we have gone. We love the environment so much, my boyfriend and I have gone there for our anniversary date to celebrate. We have grabbed the Spicy Miso Ramen, the Tonkotsu Ramen (I like to add some Spicy Miso Paste), and the Gyozas. All of them have been great from the first bite until the last bite. Recently, I also ordered the Plum Flavored Hot Sake and it was extremely tasty as well. You got the subtle taste of both the plum and sake without either flavor being overpowering. The service is always top tier as well. Everyone is attentive and quick to assist you when needed. The second time we went it was busy and popping but the service never wavered.

Kiyomi S.

Yelp
Where we usually go for our local sushi fix. It is not terrible, but also not high end sushi-- somewhere in the middle. I feel safe eating it, and a few of their rolls are quite good. Their Sakana roll was the best thing I've had there. Love the shiso in it (a Japanese herb).

Nereyda D.

Yelp
Ate here last night for our last dinner in town and it was delicious. Service was great! We got there around 8pm and got seated and served right away. The restaurant was a small cozy place
google avatar

Calie H.

Yelp
Came here after a few recommendations from friends. Such a cute little place! I love the simplicity decor. The menu is a lot smaller than other places I've been to. And It is a bit pricier than most places. The sushi didn't impressed me much, not enough for me to say, "wow! I want to come back here." Therefore, I am giving it 4 stars.

Mary M.

Yelp
I randomly found this place on Maps, and I'm glad I stopped by! The service was incredibly quick, yet I didn't feel rushed to leave.
google avatar

Alexa G.

Yelp
This place was super busy when we went, but the sushi was great and pretty affordable for what we got. I will definitely go back to try different options!

Roxanna B.

Yelp
If you have a toddler/child and plan on bringing food for them, don't come here. They don't allow that.
google avatar

Kary K.

Yelp
You know a place is good when they have to expand to accommodate their customers. I am not sure who all is family there but they are very friendly and greet you as soon as you walk in. Their special menu on the wall has always lived true to its name. Their food is always fresh and their pricing is very fair. The specials wall never disappoints!

Timothy W.

Yelp
Unassuming and very nice. Sakana punches well above its weight in quality and service for the price. We enjoy sushi and beef curry here regularly and I'm grateful it's in the neighborhood.

Shawn A.

Yelp
Jared was great! We were well taken care of and he showed so much hospitality! Thanks Jared! Also food was amazing. First time here. Will be coming back!

Brian M.

Yelp
I had the 12 piece combo sashimi platter and a spicy tuna roll with the hot tea - very quick and healthy. I will go back. Very casual atmosphere and nice people.

Yelp
I loveee Sakana. This must try Japanese restaurant is the perfect spot for a quick date night. It's tucked away next to Dae Gee korean BBQ on Sheridan in Westminster. When we walked into the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the entire wait staff and sushi chefs. The restaurant just felt very clean and well run, which was reassuring during this pandemic. All tables were more than 6 feet apart separated with some nicely placed indoor plants. The menu is simple yet offers all the common dishes you would want. We opted for a spicy miso ramen, Japanese beef curry, and a sashimi sampler. We were totally blown away with the quality of our dishes. Each piece of salmon and tuna tasted fresh and fatty. The beef curry was incredibly well seasoned and worked well with the white rice. The ramen was absolutely out of this world. This was such an amazing meal. I highly recommend Sakana! Come check them out!
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Don't let the location turn you off from this pretty darn good suburban sushi option. We waited maybe 25 minutes on a Friday night around dinner, but they just take your number and you can wait in your car. The vibe here isn't super trendy or modern, but it's a nice, clean and bright space. The service was fantastic. They were attentive and quick. Food came pretty quickly as well. We enjoyed the spicy edamame as an app and then dug into sushi. The avocado-topped roll was my favorite! Not the #1 sushi in the Denver area but if you're close to Sakana and don't want to venture to Denver or Boulder, this is a great option. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the Ramen.
google avatar

Dhriti R.

Yelp
Got their small party platter. Got the classic rolls. The sushi was very good! Loved them! Wasabi was super fresh! Worth your money!

Andrea C.

Yelp
Food is yummy but expensive. Service is at 90%, needs a tiny bit of improvement in the "how am I make this right" conversations. My mother's food was not what she (or I) expected from reading the menu. When her dish came out she immediately said something to the server, but the server just responded with, "Oh I'm sorry. I'll make note of that for the manager." There was no offer to replace and when my mom asked if she could get something different, the server said she could order whatever she wanted but she'd need to pay for it. The whole situation was strange... but my food was awesome.
google avatar

Rylee B.

Yelp
Delicious creamy vegetable ramen, I was pleasantly surprised! The sushi was fresh and tasted good. We were quoted a 20 minute wait but a table was ready in about 5 minutes. Our server was kind and friendly. I really enjoyed my experience here!
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Service was solid, thanks Matt. As former Sushi Den employees, we can vouch that this fish is every bit as fresh! If they have the toro, get it. Prices on specials are definitely above average for that part of town, but worth it. P: @diningcolorado

Yelp
When you're greeted by "irashaimase" you know it's going to be good. Wide selection of appetizers, great sushi menu, and lots of ramen. It's a small space, but our wait wasn't very bad. On a weekend it could be bad.
google avatar

Sophia S.

Yelp
I had really high expectations of this place as one of the only authentic sushi joints around Westminster/Arvada. They have items on their menu like an ume roll and takoyaki, so I ordered one of all my favorite traditional Japanese foods. The calamari was mid. The takoyaki was mid. The karaage chicken was hardly flavored at all. In my group I was with, I was the only one who ordered baked mussels, and I was the only one who had the worst night. INTENSE stomach cramping, laying on the bathroom floor unable to breathe regularly because of how much pain I was in. It sucks to leave this review, but the hype is growing disproportionately to the actual goods. And getting painfully sick after eating somewhere as hyped and pricey as this joint needs to be shared, like a disclaimer. The service is good though. Great service. Not a kid friendly joint. The first time we stopped in here with our infant son, we left before we ordered because the vibe is not for kids. And THATS OKAY. Not every place should cater to kids. Just be aware of this fact if you're looking to eat somewhere with your young children. Two stars because my experience isn't everyone's and the service was good.

Abby C.

Yelp
Wow. Hidden gem - Arvada best sushi :) Great service and cute decor, location and amazing sushi. The sushi cuts were generous and thick. The fish was flavorful and smooth without the soy sauce and wasabi. Salmon Belly - OMG - fatty that it melts in your mouth - highly recommend of it's on the specialty board. Uni - Single serving of uni nigiri. Must try, you either love or hate it. Philly Salmon Roll - Smooth and well balanced - the Salmon pieces were thick and the cream cheese did not over power the roll. Sakana Roll - Refreshing, seared salmon topped with a avocado, cucumber roll. Location- very cute, great date spot, girls night or family dinner. Parking lot - small and shared with other businesses

Michelle H.

Yelp
A gem! Amazing food, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and with a laid back vibe. We were seated in a timely manner and the food didn't take long to come out.
google avatar

Jana K.

Yelp
When we walked in, we weren't impressed with the interior and the sushi wasn't great either. We got many various pieces of nigiri and sushi rolls and none of them seemed fresh. The nigiri came out warm and the rice had a weird aftertaste. My friend specified that she had an allergy to cucumbers and our server told us that he'd make sure we wouldn't have cucumbers in our sushi rolls. When our roll came out, my friend bit into her food and realized there was cucumbers in her food. We asked the server if the kitchen could remake it since she couldn't eat it and he told us that he could remake it and that we could keep the sushi. When our bill came out, he ended up charging us for both the roll with the cucumber and the remade roll. We asked him why, and he said, "You're taking the rolls home so I have to charge you for both." So, my question is, how are you going to charge someone who quite literally can't eat the food that was prepared? Will never be coming back here again. Food 0/10 and customer service 0/10.

Yelp
Excellent ramen and sushi. Great atmosphere for a small place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, friendly staffs. It was a great dinner experience. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Reallly good! Great atmosphere. Great staff! Not understaffed. Delicious sushi. Will come again.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The best Japanese restaurant I've been to in the Denver metro!

Yelp
Salmon don was super fresh with generous cuts of salmon sashimi. I wish there was more seasoning on the sushi rice. Rainbow roll had had a good ratio of rice to fish ratio. Our table also ordered the tonkatsu ramen and creamy vegetarian ramen. While I didn't try the ramen, my mom and uncle thought the ramen flavor was spot on. The chashu was on the drier side in the tonkatsu ramen. I wouldn't hesitate to give this place 4 stars if it wasn't temperature the restaurant was set at. On a hot summer day, this place had their thermostat set at 78 degrees inside. Needless to say, my family and a few other tables were sweating. When we complained, the manager claims that the AC isn't working. Well... immediately after we complained, the thermostat went down a few degrees LOL If the AC was broken, I don't believe it can jump down a few degrees on a whim. Sakana, please don't be stingy and set the temp at a decent cool degree so that your diners are comfortable dining at this restaurant.
google avatar

Estefania L.

Yelp
Their food is absolutely amazing! Everything is fresh and flavorful; we love their spicy ramen and sushi. Sakana staff is always very welcoming and attentive. We love sitting in their bar and seeing how the -Sushi Chef- gets the job done; the plates he makes are impeccable and very appetizing. The restaurant looks super clean and has a great atmosphere. Always an exceptional experience!

Yelp
Super fresh sashimi! Quality sushi - you can tell because none of their fish comes with cream cheese and not every roll option consists of tempura or spicy sushi (tempura & spicy sushi are signs that they're masking the lower quality fish). Their ginger is white, not pink, also a sign of freshness. Their wasabi is also light and fluffy, unlike many other restaurant wasabi. The vibe feels more like a trendy, modern cafe but I love how clean it is. Wish their sushi bar had stools with a back rest, but the regular dining seating is great. They will provide you with a mask if you don't have one. Octopus seaweed salad was refreshing and unique! Very little seaweed and the octopus isn't chewy at all. Comes with thinly sliced cucumber, a tomato that is cut like a garnish, and plated in a martini glass. Great presentation. I got the chirashi and boyfriend got nigiri. The only difference between the two is that chirashi included unagi (eel) and egg. You get more for your money with Chirashi. There's an salad option, too. Their lychee ice cream is like a sorbet and is super fresh and light. Highly recommend! Really like this sushi spot. Reminds me of Bamboo Sushi in the Highlands. Only downside is that the waitress made me feel really rushed. I hate when they ask me what I want to drink right when I sit down before I've seen the menu, and she delivered the ice cream dessert when I was still finishing my main course. That was weird.
