We recently had dinner here and had an excellent experience. The staff is very kind and attentive. Our orders came out promptly, even though it was busy during dinner time. The menu offers a good variety of options to choose from, accompanied by helpful photos. I enjoyed the specialty rolls, fresh sushi, agedashi tofu, dinner combos, and more! The kids in our party enjoyed their meals, and the staff came and brought treats at the end of the meal. The price is comparable to similar businesses, making it a decent deal, a perfect local spot to satisfy your sushi cravings. Dining options include indoor, patio, and bar seating.

The oysters are so big, very fresh and sweet. If you love oysters, highly recommend giving a try.

Food was pretty good and the staff was really nice. They also gave us two small boxes of M&Ms for free after we’re done eating which was a small pleasant surprise.

So we were just there for dinner a couple of days ago and I have to say it was fantastic! I have been to Sake Sushi several times before and it's always good, but this time it was just top-notch, hence the review. We had the pork bulgogi and the short rib tempura dinner plate and it was amazing!!! The tempura was on point! The service was also great! The service staff was really attentive.

Overall, wonderful experience! I certainly enjoyed my grand meal with Tempura Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Something Wrong Roll, Jalapeño Bomb, and Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream! Everything was delicious, but little improvements needed. The Standout Excellent Customer Service by Barrett, sweetened my dining experience even more! The food is 4 Stars, while customer service is totally 5 Stars all the way!!! This ultimate classic sushi joint is worth a stop, if you haven't already tried it. I only wish they had Toro. This is a great casual and reliable sit down restaurant for sushi that is affordable compared to other sushi places in SoCal. The service is quick and the sushi is delicious and great quality. They also have so many more items on the menu for those who do not like sushi or have a taste for other Japanese dishes. Be sure to check out their daily deals that happen a few times a week depending on the day.

Friendly server and food came out in time. But the sashimi were fishy and didn't taste fresh at all. Something was off for all of the fish we had Miso soup was good and that's about it. Not sure will come back again.

I liked it. Came in for dinner with a friend. Inside had simple and tasteful decorations, and a good amount of seating. They got plenty of sushi and rolls on the menu. But I love a good bento combo. The dinner combo was good and filling. My friend got the yellowtail banzai roll and liked it. Would definitely come back to try more. Service was great. Staff was so friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot.

This is the local neighborhood sushi place, but honestly, I would drive further to come here if it wasn't so close. The staff is always great, especially who I believe are the owners. They are so friendly and kind. It feels a bit like family. The ambiance is casual and fairly standard as far as most sushi places I have frequented. The rolls are so good. All of them are nice and fresh. The selection is wonderful. I have yet to have anything I didn't like here.

We used to eat here, that one time we came back we got there at 8:30 pm and they wouldn't want to take us anymore because they're closing at 9:00 pm. They even had the "open" light turned on. Why put closing at 9 pm if you wont accept customers at 8:30pm. We were very disappointed :(

We've lived in Placentia for 7 years, and for many many years this was our FAVORITE sushi restaurant. We would recommend it to everyone. It has been a few years since we've been. Admittedly, we fell into more of a doordash routine post covid if we wanted to eat out, and this place doesn't do doordash. Well, today is my 35th birthday and I wanted our favorite sushi. Unfortunately, it will go down as the worst decision I make in my 35th year of life. We ordered the sushi & sashimi plater, uni, salmon eggs, mackerel and ocean trout. As you can tell from our order, we like real sushi. Uni tasted like ammonia and gasoline. We LOVE uni, we harvest it yearly down in san Pedro and eat it fresh from the ocean, it's delicious. This, I almost spit out. I could barely bring myself to swallow, so it sat in my mouth for a while. My husband and I locked eyes, and I knew we were in trouble. I didn't try the salmon eggs, mostly because i was sucking on a lemon to get the uni flavor out of my mouth, but my husband ate one and audibly gagged. He is too nice to complain, and we've always respected these sushi chefs, but he said the eggs gave off the flavor of a rotten sour shoe. He did not eat the second piece. Tuna and snapper on the plater were old and gummy. Seems like it had been frozen for months. Maybe even frozen, thawed, and froze again. Ocean trout was the best thing we had, but even that was subpar. We have had some of the best sushi meals here in the past, and we left knowing we'd never be back. Truly a shame when a restaurant is struggling so much that they lower their standards to serving old and rancid food. Sorry Sake, Suite & Grill. I hope you can turn it around.

Staff is very friendly! The restaurant is in a quiet plaza with plenty if parking spaces. We called to check if they restaurant will take 2 customers around 8:15PM, (they close at 9) and they said yes! The restaurant is very clean with lots of beautiful decorations. The waitress is lovely and recommended us the paradise roll, which felt refreshing on a warmer night! Food came out quickly, and they give a generous portion of ginger with the wasabi! Prices are reasonable, would definitely try coming again for their lunch menu!

We order from here for take out and also eat at the restaurant. The food and service is outstanding. Everything is fresh and delicious. And the prices are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend Sake Sushi and Grill!

Their Don Buri is some of the toughest beef I have ever eaten for Don Buri, also the amount of beef was small compared to the amount of onion. They should also have cut off the fat/gristle on the end of the meat before cutting into matchstick pieces. The Bulgogi beef was a lot more tender and flavorful

I love this place! Been going here forever. They've watched my girls grow up lol. Tuna and salmon are always fresh. Can't go wrong with a fire crunch roll either.

High End Price with low Quality of Foods. Foods don't deserve the price they have. Spent $56.01, lunch meals for 2 persons but not worthy it

I returned here after coming here, a while ago and I enjoyed it but needless to say, I will never return again the service was subpar. The food was horrible not the way I remembered and poor tasting even to the point where I got sick after immediately eating the food. My kids have lived in that area for several years and were the ones that introduced me to that place and they themselves said that yeah it's nothing close to what they remembered.

We enjoyed lunch at Sake today. My Hawaiian roll was super fresh (both the fish and the rice, which I appreciate), and my mother had udon soup with tempura. The service was very good, the restaurant clean, and I thought the quality vs. value was great. Thank you!

I met up with 2 of my gfs here for dinner. One of the girls picked this place because the other girl was driving down from Pasadena. So this is a half way point for us. We ordered a sashimi salad, a sashimi platter and a salmon roll. We started off with a bottle of hot sake. I've never had bad sake before until tonight. Their hot sake had a sour after taste. I've had cheap sake before but it wasn't this bad. Next came the sashimi salad. Holy crap! The sashimi tasted fishy!! It was worse than the sashimi at the Chinese buffet. I forced myself to eat and my gf had to apologize to us for picking this place. The only decent thing was the sashimi platter. The quality is not great but definitely beat whatever the heck they put in the salad. The salmon roll was nothing ro rave about. I came home and had the worst stomachache. Never again! Be warned!!

Bed of lettuce was wilted and bitter tasting. Rice was drowning in sauce. Fish had a weird taste. Did not enjoy this.

Sake Sushi is my go-to place whenever I'm in So Cal. The fish is fresh and fabulous. I made a point during the lockdown to go once or twice a week to get orders to go. I wanted to make sure they didn't close. One of my favorite things to do is sit in the patio and listen to the fountain as I enjoy a respite from a tiring day. Great food. Great wine. Great atmosphere. The owners are lovely people.

Horrible service and worthless owners. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!! owners are rude, because when they see a new customer , that's not a regular, then you will get subpar service. You're just not important enough to be treated like a real customer. Anyone that treats customers like that doesn't deserve stars. We gave them a second chance and same shit! Actually, we came close to closing, and other people were seated, but we were turned away. NEGATIVE STARS TO THIS FAMILY SUSHI SCAM. Stay away. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Came in for a quick dinner with my wife and son. Restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. We Ordered spicy edamame. It never came but they charged me for it. I ordered spicy yellow tail roll. The yellowtail was not fresh and most of it had the skin on it (gross). Prices were very high! Very disappointing!

The sushi here is definitely some of the best sushi I've had but it's also some of the most expensive sushi I've had. It's $10 for two pieces of sushi so if it's in your budget I would definitely recommend this place.

WARNING WARNING Serving GREY fish, food is NOT FRESH!!! Order edamame; eat 4 pieces, it looked discolored and pale. Order two (2) rolls; had a piece of each One rolls looked like they made it the day before and brought it out of the fridge. The other was coated in eel-sauce to disguise the fishy-taste. Recommend using EXTRA wasabi to sanitize their s#it fish!!! Women (maybe owner) came over and saw that we weren't eating; and asked is everything okay? Response: No, it doesn't taste very good. Response Back: I'm sorry, do you want a box. Thank you for being in business to earn money. I'm happy to donate $50.90, but your business to strive to services, provide quality food, and earn repeat business. arigatou gozaimasu

This was on our list to try since we often drive by. Though it's in a strip mall, once inside it looks like a traditional Japanese restaurant with a small sushi bar and some dine in tables. Our server was fairly new but she checked in on us enough and the owner came by to check in so I'd say the service was excellent. We ordered the super lettuce wrap which was really refreshing with the lettuce and the soy paper wrap. Definitely a winner! The Kamikaze roll however was more disappointing. The albacore topping was over cooked and dry, was expecting albacore sushi and it wasn't very fresh. The fatty tuna sushi was good and they even gave us an extra piece! Boyfriend loves fatty tuna! We also got the avocado salmon cappacio. It wasn't as fresh as other cappacio we've had at other sushi spots. A bit fatty and don't think we'd order it again. We also got the mix tempura. The oil used to fry was old and it was greasy, dark and over crispy. Also won't order this again. Overall, there were some hits and misses on the food we ordered. Because of this reason for the 3 stars. This wasn't a fancy sushi place but comparing to other sushi of this level we've had better in the area.

Our friendly neighborhood sushi spot! We absolutely LOVE Sake Sushi and it's for so many reasons, but the main two are the friendliness of the staff and of course the delicious food. The owners treat everyone like family and everyone that works there follows their lead. If you are the type that likes to frequent a place and enjoys having the staff anticipate your needs, this is the spot. I can't say enough how much we enjoy everyone who works there. I've never not enjoyed a meal here and it seems like there's often amazing specials and new things on the menu to try.. some of my favorites are the spicy tuna tacos, the spicy garlic edamame, and pretty much every roll and bowl they have. (Right now my go to is the spicy something wrong ) For us and a lot of our friends this place is a weekly hit!

Great food, love their green tea. It is clean and tastes great, no need to spit little tea leaves. Fast service and great servers. No attitude, just service. Not sure what's with wasabi, it is not hot. Even fresh wasabi is very mild.

I ordered the tempura shrimp but the batter on them wasn't tempura it was thicker and more of a beer batter also the crab in the California roll was more of a crab salad with mayonnaise. I will not be going back. Especially at that price.

Always looking for a new place to get lunch that is close to the office. I saw this place and it had great reviews so I decided to check it out. I looked at their menu pictures on Yelp (thanks Yelpers). I went with the beef teriyaki plate and since I wanted to try their sushi, I went with 1 order of salmon nigiri (ponzu/onion version). I picked up my food and away back to the office. The salmon nigiri was awesome, the fish was very fresh. The beef teriyaki plate, they do give you a lot of sauce (on the side), was thin sliced and tender. I will say that I was not really into the sauteed vegetables, I think too much garlic? You also do get miso soup. They also have outdoor dining.

We were told we had to try Sake Sushi and we did. Open for take out, we placed a phone order for pick up. The gentleman taking our order was very friendly. We were told it would be about 15 mins and they were right on time. We ordered the Fresh Tuna Roll, Calamari Roll and Shrimp Crunch Roll. All were good. Prices were competitive. We'll likely be back again.

We came here last Friday a little after it opened and it was already packed! Even without a reservation, our party of 6 was seated right away. Service was excellent and so was the food! The food came out soon after we ordered and everything was he right temperature and fresh. This place is a MUST-TRY!!!

Ok. I've been wanting to try this place since moving here but never had the chance till now. Here's what we ordered: Appetizer: Gyoza - yum but it's a gyoza Dynamite - didn't love it, won't try it again, too sweet Entree: Chicken teriyaki - OMG!!!! So delicious, tender and perfect Rolls: Salmon crunch roll - YES Volcano roll - ABSOLUTELY Shrimp tempura roll, add cream cheese - WILL GET EVERY TIME! ...... and an Asahi So, the food is amazing! Already planning on going back this week! I've been looking for a good sushi place. The quality of the ingredients is hands down great. It's really nice to know that there are still restaurants that uphold the integrity and quality of their menu and ingredients, especially a sushi restaurant. Quite surprisingly the bill only came out to $97 which for the quality and amount of food is not that much. You may ask, so why 4 stars and not 5???? Oh, I wanted so badly to give them 5 or at least 4.5 but I couldn't. It wasn't that service was "bad" but it wasn't "good". Our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. Apparently when there was nothing to do (I believe there is always something to do) she could be found leaning toward the back of the restaurant , just a leisurely lean. Although I appreciated that my water got refilled in a timely manner, she came over and reached out her hand almost fully across my face and said "I'll refill your water"...... hmmmmmmm ok. I guess things have changed or expectations on service has changed in the past year but ummmmm yea no thanks. Yes I'm going to go back because the food is great and at least I know what to expect for service. Ps. I still left a good tip (more than 15%).

I come here a lot and this was the first time I came in and experienced bad service and bad food. The fish wasn't fresh and tasted funny. When I told them about it, they acted like it was nothing.

We've been dining at Sake Sushi for years, and they have yet to disappoint! The service is wonderful, and our food is always fresh and tasty. I typically order the jumbo dinner special that comes with miso soup, salad, tempura vegetables, white rice, and two proteins. The beef short ribs are a delicious option. All that food for $23! The husband loves the popcorn roll. Of course, our meal wouldn't be complete without an Asahi, and Sake serves them ice cold! It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a great meal.

Did a family dinner here. Everyone but me wanted sushi. I had the teriyaki chicken, which was quite good. The sushi was delicious-- fresh and flavorful. Prompt service from our waiter too.

This is a great hole-in-the-wall sushi place. The food is delicious and they have so many options. Everything I tried here tasted great, and their green tea ice cream was really good. The service is also great. It never took long for anything to come, and the wait staff was really nice.

Sake sushi is small and has a nice patio area. I've never had to wait here. I think they're a bit more expensive than other sushi spots. They're eel is very good and I do love their edamame. It's served steamed and covered in salt. Service is great here because it's small so they aren't waiting on a crazy amount of people. Overall, I like the food and the restaurant is kept clean. There's also a tv usually playing whatever game is on.

Overall I had a good, nice experience at SS&G, but it was diminished with my last order. I sat at the sushi bar and the staff was attentive, and pleasant and the sushi was fresh and the portions were generous. The place is clean, open and airy. The Hamachi and Uni were outstanding and every thing was pretty awesome except the unagi. It was bland, tasteless, mushy and overcooked. Not exactly high praise. I have seen this once before at a sushi restaurant I used to go to in Hayward in N. California. They pre-cooked the unagi and let it sit in a pile in the chiller, then they take out a precooked piece and heat. Sake, Sushi and Grill does the same thing and it may be the cause of my less than perfect finish to my meal. In any case, I will not be ordering he unagi here again. Will I be back?. Absolutely, they are good, nice people and everything else was spot on. Perhaps they will try a different unagi method.
