Honestly some of the best home cooked and braai-ed meat in SA! Tried alot of shisanyama places across the country but this takes the cake. All you can eat, delicious SA classics for only R250.00 - what could be better! Set in the heart of historic Vilakazi Street in Soweto, you'll find this absolute gem. Definately worth a visit if ever you're in Joburg. Planning on visiting with my wife hopefully in the new year. Food: 5/5 ***** Service: 3/5 **** Atmosphere: 4/5 ****

We dropped in for lunch and ended up staying longer than planned. The street hums past your table while plates of chakalaka, pap, and grilled meat arrive at an easy pace. Staff were warm without hovering and the vibe felt like a family gathering you’ve been invited to. We swapped bites across the table, ordered a second round of sides, and watched tour groups drift by. What I liked most was the mix of visitors and locals in one space. By the time we left, we’d shared a laugh with the folks at the next table and promised ourselves we’d come back on a Sunday when the street is in full voice.

Finally made it!!! It's always been packed the times I have been to Vilakazi Street and I'd end up at another restaurant, but today I had the Sakhumzi experience. The food is delicious 😋, well prepared I honestly can't complain. The service is a bit slow though, could be due to the busyness of the restaurant. I'll definitely pop in again.

I guess it's the price of fame. It was packed, tables were put together and seating haphazard. service was slow cause the staff was rushed. We left after the table we were given felt like a back room in the kitchen.

Look no further for traditional food and local dishes; our wonderful guide took us there; you can't go wrong with a mix of tasty food and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The seating area outside is very nice and a remarkable place to enjoy a break during the hottest and humid hours of the noon at Soweto. Eventually, you'll get some artist performance the street across not associated with the restaurant but performing for the restaurant clients, your choice to tip or not I would make an effort to come back there if I ever come back to Joburg

Beautiful view and the place is a good establishment. The famous Vilakazi street. I did enjoy being in the area The thing waiter was good, just a bit slow, because we came in as a group, but it seemed like they were not expecting a group of people. Otherwise the food was great and the team enjoyed the food. The drinks are reasonable, and their food variety is great. The restroom needs to be at least more easily accessible from the outside. I guess it's a bit too inside if you need to go to the restroom. The vibe is great, great staff. Great service for eKasi establishment.

We ate there yesterday at the recommendation of our guide. It is buffet style. There were about 5 cold dishes including salads and about 9 hot dishes including 4 meat. For dessert there were 2 choices plus fruit salad and ice cream. The price of 270 Zar p.p. was robbery. At 150 Zar I would still have felt I overpaid. With a nominal tip and 2 soft drinks the bill was over 600 Zar. In fairness, we had asked our guide take us to a place to try local food. Unfortunately, he took us to a lousy spot on a famous street where they feel they can gouge because of where they are located. The quality of most dishes was mediocre. The set up of the buffet felt like food was an afterthought. The chicken tasted good but was dry. Chicken feet still had the claws on which isn’t normal where we come from so I didn’t try them. The veggies were cooked well but were nothing special. The ice creams were all soupy, the custard had that layer that you get on paint when the can isn’t sealed. It was unappealing and the cake was dry. Sitting on picnic tables doesn’t create much of an atmosphere. I don’t recommend the food. Going for drinks and hanging out might be a much more appealing choice.
