Hi, I am from Canada and I love this hotel! It even has a complementary public bath which is very clean, and has all the products you need to have a nice experience. It is walking distance to the train station. It is about 15 minutes by taxi to my highly suggested (no charge) temple named Chionin Temple which you can walk through a park to get to the Yasaka Shrine on the same property. I got there nice and early. Then you leave the temple and you are right in the Gion District (famous area); lots of little streets AND a vegan restaurant named Zirael (google maps it and it is down a little alley off main road). This hotel is an adult hotel, so very quiet, amazing buffet breakfast at a reasonable cost, some nice private space for reading in the lobby, and located across from a subway station. Enjoy!

The location are superb, next to train station, walkable to bus station. Amenities are refilled everyday. No need to bring toileterries, their shampoo, conditioner were good, doesnt make my hair dry and smells really good. Got free coffee and welcome drink (alcohol & non alcohol) everyday with certain time schedule. Got public bath, but didnt try it. Rooms are cleaned every day, however sheets are cleaned in every 2 days, rooms are small like the other japan hotel. Would comeback

DO NOT STAY HERE. This was the worst hotel we had ever stayed in. The room was moldy and had a terrible smell. At a quick glance, there was visible mold all over the bathroom doors, bathtub, bathroom mirror, and refrigerator. After informing the hotel about this, they came to inspect the room and said to turn on the AC and sleep for the night. We refused as the mold was causing us allergic reactions and demanded a room change. The hotel representative said only bigger rooms were available and that it would require us to pay more $ to upgrade to. We refused as it was the hotel's fault and the representative said he would go check room availability, only to come back to say the hotel is fully booked. (We suspected that they said this so they would not have to give us a bigger room for no extra charge.) We also asked for any rooms they can provide us at another one of their hotels and they immediately refused and said it was not possible. In conclusion, I will never stay at this brand of hotel ever again. This was a nightmare. They would not refund us either. We had to go through our credit card to get our money back.

Excellent experience! Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean, well stocked and spacious. Would definitely stay here again. Close enought to Kyoto station and subway station was right outside our lobby door. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the complimentary daily cocktail!

I really enjoyed my stay at Sakura Terrace Hotel. The location is excellent—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, which made traveling around very convenient. The hotel has a calm, modern atmosphere, with a beautiful open courtyard that feels like a little retreat in the city.||The public bath and free laundry facilities were a huge plus. I also appreciated the evening drink service, which made the stay feel more special. Staff were very kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.||The only small drawback was that the Wi-Fi in the room could be stronger, but it worked fine in the common areas. Overall, it’s a great value for the price and I’d definitely stay here again.

Review (October 29, 2025) I booked this hotel for one night, and while the photos looked amazing online, the experience was disappointing. It turns out that my room was located across from the main building—at the “Southern Gallery”—which was not made clear at the time of booking and felt somewhat misleading. The Southern Gallery had more of a hostel-like atmosphere and, unfortunately, lacked a front desk. When I called the main reception for assistance, I requested some accommodation due to the bed being extremely firm and the pillows being quite small. However, no alternative or solution was offered. In comparison, the previous hotel I stayed at—Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo, located right by Kyoto Station—offered much better comfort, service, and amenities for a similar price. The only positive aspects of this stay were the convenient location near Kyoto Station and the complimentary coffee. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this experience and will not be booking here again.

Google
Great location with close proximity to Kyoto Station, very convenient for commuting. The hotel has a welcome drink daily from wines, beer, selected cocktails and juices. Cosy lounge with a very friendly and consistent bartender, Mr. Cho - always welcoming with a beaming smile :)

Google
Very close to Kyoto station and the metro which is really convenient for sightseeing. Thr staff were really nice and helpful and the standard rooms are comfortablr and spacious enough for a couple. There is a smoking area in the lounge and a nice onsen for guests.

Yelp
I booked Sakura Terrace on a whim the night before we headed from Tokyo to Kyoto. I made sure I booked a hotel that was relatively close to the Kyoto train station to avoid having to get a taxi. Sakura is the perfect location, 2 blocks from the train station. It was walking distance, about a 5-10 minute walk depending if you're hauling your luggage with you. Oh, and there's a 711 on your way to the hotel! Winning. We were surprised when we arrived at Sakura. It looked nicer than the pictures when we initially booked. This hotel is well designed with very welcoming and cozy common areas. One of the best things that we appreciated about this hotel was the coffee station. It's unique and you get to choose your coffee beans and grind them yourself with a manual coffee grinder and drip your own coffee. They also offer a welcoming drink every day at 5pm. Pretty cool! We enjoyed our stay here and were sad to leave for our next destination. Sakura is very convenient, and we had a good night stay here. Would stay here again next time we come to Japan and visit Kyoto. Perfect location and excellent hotel!

Yelp
I loved our stay at Sakura Terrace. The location is very convenient. It's within walking distance to Kyoto Station but there is also a metro stop just outside the hotel. Everyone spoke English well and the check in process was smooth. After checking in at the reception, you head over to the machines to pay for the tourist tax and to obtain additional key cards, if needed. The rooms were clean and it was quite spacious (by Japanese standards) even with our luggage all spread out. There's also a small balcony with a table and chairs outside; though it was too hot out for us to enjoy it : ( The lobby was large and a great area just to chill out. In the evening, the TV in the lobby will showcase the live music playing at the restaurant at their sister hotel which is about a 5 minute walk away. By showing your room key, you can also redeem an alcoholic drink at the lobby bar (at this hotel and their sister hotel). Coffee/tea is self-serve and readily available. Amenities also include a public bath (onsen) within the hotel. I also took advantage of the free laundry services. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Talk about trendy! Modern and comfortable rooms, hotel onsen for guests only, free drink at the bar every night. And that beautiful outdoor terrace, lit up with twinkling lights! I can almost imagine six beautiful strangers getting to know each other intimately within these walls like some sort of...Sakura Terrace House. Okay, so Netflix reality show plug aside, Sakura Terrace is such a relaxing atmosphere. It's as if its purpose is to make you avoid as much inconvenience as possible. It's priced decently and serviced well. Even its location, right at the corner of a subway station entrance, makes things so easy. Our travel in and around Kyoto was so much more convenient with our hotel was just above the station. The rooms all have the signature Japanese cleanliness and minimalistic style and ours had a lovely balcony. However, the highlights are the communal areas, the main being the large lounge in the lobby. With plush seating and casual atmosphere, guests can prop up their feet and even wander around in their bathrobes. Ideal, considering there are indoor baths for guests on the same floor and who wants to put on clothes after that? The indoor onsen wasn't particularly memorable but the fact that the hotel had one sure was. Soaking away your worries and overworked feet every night in boiling water was a type of bliss I wish I had back home. To soothe your worries away even further, you are allowed one free drink every night from the sleek lounge bar between 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Yes, alcoholic drinks are included in their menu. Signature cocktails, local beers, and, my new favourite drink, Japanese fruit (mostly plum) wine mixed with club soda. We mostly hung out in the lounge but if it wasn't raining, we would've gladly crossed over to the beautiful namesake terrace just outside. Perfect place to soak in some sun during the day or enjoy the crisp night air surrounded by whimsical strings of lights. Seriously, is there a more perfect evening? Steaming away in an indoor hot spring, kicking back with a Mojito on a beautiful terrace, and feeling the night breeze gently tickle you from under your bathrobe. And it's something you can experience every evening, right here, at Sakura Terrace. (13/100) - 2019

Yelp
Great hotel, conveniently located 5 minutes from Kyoto station. We booked our hotel through Expedia superior room with balcony. Decently priced as Kyoto can get a little pricey. If you're booking ahead book to include breakfast already its cheaper. I contemplated and didn't get it, regretted it because we ended up paying 1600 yen per person. Pretty good selection for a breakfast buffet. Both Japanese style and western style. Come early limited options after about 9am. Rooms we decent size very clean. Nice to have a balcony we were rewarded with great sunsets. Beds were comfy. Also bonus to have a public onsen. I took advantage and used it everyday we stayed at the hotel. Also free laundry facilities, which we also took advantage of. They give you a free welcome drink every night at the restaurant. Overall, good experience.

Yelp
Great place to stay when visiting Kyoto! Staff is extremely user friendly and helpful. They all speak some English, which was definitely helpful. They have a lounge that offers self-service water, juices, coffee and hot tea. Our beds were turned down every day and towels changed out. My husband and I stayed for 3 days and 4 nights. It was centrally located go shopping, dining, and the main train station. They also offer one complimentary alcoholic beverage per night, per person. They have a public bath, laundry room, and gym. They style is more modern and the room was definitely larger than most hotels we have stayed in....we are used to APA hotels that don't offer any walking room, hope that helps you imagine our normal expectations. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again.

Yelp
Planned to stay here a couple nights but decided to extend our stay by an extra 2 nights bc it was such an awesome experience, relaxing, and with location that cannot be beat. Location: Short walk from Kyoto station, subway stop right outside hotel, bus stops all around provide easy access to most of Kyoto. Additionally within 2-3 blocks of Sakura are several small Izakayas and a Nepalese restaurant (which has many vegetarian options) Rooms: the rooms were super clean and spacious for Japan standards. Did not feel cramped at all. Bed was comfortable and easy to get good nights sleep for all the exploration during the day. Service: they do have English speaking staff and they provide superb service, Amenities: first off they have a full bar with free drinks every night. Large lounge/bar area for maximum relaxation. Have a public bath area which was yet another avenue for relaxation in this very nice hotel.

Yelp
Tiny rooms, prime location, decent prices, and public baths in the main floor! I loved this place! As expected with most Japanese hotels, this one had small rooms. We got a double with what felt like a large full... or whatever would be in between a full and a queen sized bed. LOL. It wasn't very spacious, but it was clean and comfortable. Wasn't planning to lounge in it so I didn't mind. The location of this hotel was also prime! Literally a few minutes walk from the Kyoto Station , which is nice when you have luggage. No need to transfer trains after getting off the Shinkansen. Also makes it super easy for local travel and exploration as well. The station also provides numerous eateries! Sushi, green tea cafes, McDs, bakers... you get it. The public bath was awesome. After getting used to being naked around everyone for so long, you don't even notice anymore. They have the Japanese style showers with a hot bath and a ice cold bath. This was my first time jumping back and forth between the two and let me just say, I had some amazing sleep those nights. Probably because I kept putting my body into a shock. Whoops. On a serious note, it was a super awesome thing to have after a long day out exploring. Checking in and out are super easy! Quick too. Front desk speaks English. Free alcoholic drinks, coffee, and teas for guests. If Yelp is helping you decide, just book it! 5 stars from me! Quick Tips: 1. There's a check out machine that gets you in your way in less than a minute. Super easy. 2. Trains and a taxi port within feet of the lobby. Very convenient.

Yelp
Close to Kyoto station, the rooms were very nice and the service was amazing. Everyone who worked there went above and beyond to make the experience great. A+ After already traveling through Japan for a week it was nice to have a free washer and drier to use which was located inside their cardio gym which is just outside a nice lounge with free coffee and tea. My wife and I rented bikes nearby and after exhausting ourselves decided to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant. Usually hotel restaurants are expensive and not very good, that is definitely not the case here. Two free Welcome drinks every night with live music made the experience very nice, and the food was surprisingly good and cheap! Highly highly recommended.

Yelp
The hotel is very reasonably priced, the rooms are clean and spacious. They have many nice free perks including: 1 free alcoholic drink per day, free tea/coffee, a Japanese style public bath/hot tub. To top it off, their restaurant is amazing! The food is great and it's honestly priced at about half of what the should charge. We paid 1000 Yen for a steak dinner with live music, plus a free drink!

Yelp
Kyoto is busy this time of year- cherry blossoms. It was hard for me to book a hotel so when I found this one free I booked it. Great location. Exit 2 of the kujo subway is right outside the hotel walkway. Its also not much of a walk to Kyoto station if you want to save 2 bucks. The hotel has a welcome drink from 6pm and they don't skimp. Hubby and I had a tequila sunrise and violet sake mixed drink our first night. We booked a double bed room. Spacious enough for suitcases once we moved the table and chairs on the side. Not much variety as far as food places close. 2 convenience stores- 7/11 and family mart. The avanti building a couple blocks toward Kyoto station has a few restaurants in their basement level. Even a McDonalds! Check this place out! Oh forgot to add....laundry room on 4th floor...two dryers and three washers. Detergent available at front desk. We made use of this with our long trip.

Yelp
Location is great since it's close by to the subway station. This was useful for us because it was close to the Kyoto main station. We spent a lot of time traveling through the different rail lines, JR Line, subways, electric rail, etc... Room is clean and it's huge in terms of Japanese standards. However, the bathroom is tiny. It reminds me of the cruise ship bathrooms. They even have the same door that opens outwards. They probably use the same door! They have free wifi, but it is a little slow. It's ok. It is a little choppy but I've definitely experienced worse in other places. We didn't eat here because it wasn't included in our room rate. They have a man made spring onsen at the hotel. We never got around to using it because we came back late from touring around. We were too tired. I can't comment on the quality of their amenities. The staff was ok. They were helpful but not super helpful compared to the hotel that we stayed at in Tokyo before coming to Kyoto. Decent spot for the price. Clean and a place to lay your head and shower while traveling. We found this place through Japan-guide.com which is super awesome! Super organized and makes it easy to travel around Japan. We booked the hotel through Expedia.

Yelp
Great service and accommodating. They also had a washer and dryer. Location is fantastic since it is not so far off from the train station. There is also an Avanti mall close by if you need anything (toothpaste, sneakers etc). There is a 7-11 close by. We also found a ramen shop that is about a 5 minute walk away that locals go to. Our rooms bathroom was a little dank it had that old wet odor. Likely from the moisture not drying quick enough. We noticed that our towels took a very long time to dry. Otherwise we would've given this place a five.
