Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These NYC Bars | Eater

"Beloved by discerning New Yorkers, and still here from its 20th-century opening, Sala is a great place to settle in for a long evening on a slow roll. The Astoria edition opened in 2022 and immediately drew the same type of praise as the Bowery original. If you’re out with someone who gives great conversation, here’s where you can indulge each other’s thoughts in a relaxed setting. While the drink menu definitely leans toward wine time, the seafood-centered tapas list can spar with a Teremana Anejo — assuming you can bring yourself to make food so visually appealing vanish." - Brendan McGinley

Definitely the best Tapas place in Astoria! Food, service and ambient are magnificent! We made a ‘tour’ through the tapas menu and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a Must in Astoria! Hard to decide what was the best, but, gazpacho, goat cheese with honey and as dessert the crispy apple it’s my highlight recommendation

Google
7/20 update - I feel like I’ve been sleeping on the quality of the food here. The branzino here is probably one of the best I’ve had in the area, including the Greek places. Garlic shrimp is amazing. Recommended. —— Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. Turns out they have flamenco dancers performing every Tuesday during the summer! Sat at the bar and ordered a few plates to share. Definitely the standouts were the gazpacho and pork terrine, with crispy skin! The other dishes, cauliflower, shrimp, and calamari were tasty. Service was nice and attentive. A few wines on the list along with cocktails. I personally didn’t enjoy the red wines as they were too tannic - I tried two. The white, Albariño, was the way to go! This experience was much better than the last time I visited last year!

I met some friends for dinner at Sala. True to its name, the place feels more like a living room, with tables and chairs arranged in a cozy, homey manner. The food was decent—nothing exceptional—and the mixed drinks were also satisfactory but nothing memorable. The relaxed atmosphere was nice, but I’d probably choose to go somewhere else next time. Parking was a real hassle; I spent about 20 minutes driving around before finally finding a spot three blocks away.

Google
Absolutely amazing! First rate staff (thank you Maria!) and flawless food. We had the grilled asparagus and the paella special of the day, which was skirt steak.

Google
Sala in Astoria is a total win. We grabbed seats at the bar and had a great time—fantastic bartender, super welcoming and on point. The food was delicious across the board: tender octopus, elegant white asparagus, and flavorful mejillones conservas. The standout? The seafood paella—rich, perfectly cooked, and packed with depth. Great vibe, lively clientele, and a space that feels both relaxed and buzzing. A low-key gem that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Google
The Churros! Almost addictive. We came in hungry and my son craved the famous spanish churros. Although the place was fully reserved they accommodated us and we felt like home. Food and tapas were amazing, its like you stepped into a small piece of Spain. Amazing.

Google
Lovely place. Definitely a birthday type of spot. Staff was great! Ralph knew everything on the menu. Tapas were on the money

Google
This place is great! We ordered tapas, paella and the entraña to share and the food was delicious. The service was fantastic! You always had water, and the food came out very quickly. Everyone there was very nice! The told us about the tapas and which were the best for sharing with a large party. Definitely check Sala Astoria out.

Yelp
Great place, staff, food and wine. Recently went for a wine tasting and stayed for dinner right after. Bacon covered dates, manchego cheese, chicken breast, steak... all delicious.

Yelp
Great vibe - open and welcoming/cozy.low key music. Cute date spot. Reasonably priced food - favorite picks were the garlic shrimp, octopus then for dinner steak and branzino. Service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
We came across this place for a late lunch. We had dinner plans in a few hours so we didn't want a huge lunch. I missed the tapas I had in Spain and was craving tapas. Luckily this place came up on Yelp and was highly rated so we walked over. We were greeted warmly and sat down. The restaurant was decorated beautifully :) We got some bread and oil for the table after we ordered. I got the rose sangria which was refreshing on a hot day. My friend got the dates wrapped in bacon which she really liked. I ordered the Calamari, the octopus and the croquettes. The croquettes came out first. They were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. So much flavor! It was so good. I then had calamari. The breading was the right texture and seasoned beautifully. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce the calamari came with as well. The octopus was the real star! Grilled to perfection. Tender and fresh and seasoned very well. Wow I would love to dine here again and get a meal like paella. Best tapas I've had outside of Spain :) I also saw there would be flamingo dancing too some nights. How fun! I would totally come here if I was local.

Yelp
I came here to kill time waiting for my teenager to leave a party (and also waiting for a possible date). My date never made it but I had the best time! The gambas al aljillo and patatas bravas were amazing, as was the flan y café con leche (and I found my new favorite red wine!) The staff are so friendly and the music and vibe is just right. Just what I needed after a busy week...!

Yelp
A really solid Spanish restaurant in Astoria. The interior is so beautiful. It's bright, spacious and a little rustic with the exposed wood accents. What I really appreciate about Sala is all the specials they have on a daily basis -- their daily happy hour deals literally calls my name! I've also been there on Thursdays for their paella deals and Wednesday for their wine/sangria deal. I even saw that they have free flamenco shows on certain days! After spending a week in Spain, I had the sickest craving for Spanish food, and I gotta say that the food from Sala is just as good as what I had in Spain. The paella is a must get, and I would say that it's even better some of the ones I had in Spain. It's so flavorful and the rice is nice and soft. The octopus and empanadas were also really great. If you're a fan of olives, do not skip out on them. I ended my meal with churro and chocolate -- the hot dark chocolate paired with the crispy churro, I'm drooling just thinking back!

Yelp
Lovely space, very bright and buzzy. Paella was delicious, as well as the croquettes. Pleasantly surprised with the goat cheese with figs, probably one of the best bites of the night.

Yelp
We came here for dinner with family and the restaurant was conveniently accessible from the subway which is a plus! Since we were a group of 6, tapas were perfect since we could share and try a lot of different things together. We ordered the datiles (bacon wrapped dates with almond), chorizo a la plancha, gambas al ajillo (shrimp with garlic), pan tumaca con jamon (rustic bread with Iberico ham), confit de pato con patatas (duck confit with potatoes), 2 person paella de mariscos (seafood paella), albondigas (meatballs), pisto manchego (Spanish ratatouille), lubina a la plancha (grilled branzino) and the entraña a la brasa (hangar steak).  For dessert we got the Tarta Santiago (a Galician almond cake) and Manzana Asada (roasted apple with puff pastry and spices). We managed to each get a taste of everything!  We were certainly stuffed at the end.  The chorizo was definitely one of the highlights and the paella was a bit sad and small (even for 2 people).  I had never tried the Spanish ratatouille before but it tasted as it looked (soft vegetables cooked in olive oil).  Overall it was a solid meal and the ambiance was nice as well.  Would definitely come back and try other menu items with a group!

Yelp
Astoria's hidden gem! This place truly stands out with its exceptional wine selection, craft cocktails, and impeccable cuisine. But what really makes it shine is the warm hospitality, particularly from Manager David, who is an absolute delight. His charm and attentive service make every visit a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Always such a good time. Alex was great to us. We appreciate the hospitality. This time we went for dinner and everything was 10/10. It was all delicious. Fav drink: Malaga nights !

Yelp
Easily would come here again! I came on a Saturday night and had a great time. The staff was super polite and helpful in recommending food. We tried and loved: the fried goat cheese (queso de cabra con miel), steak with onion crostini (hangar a la plancha), and the braised beef cheeks with mashed potatoes (carrilleras de ternera). All of these were very tender, perfectly seasoned, and had pleasing textures. The cocktails offered are complex in flavor and strong. I really liked the White Shoes cocktail. Sala also has a trendy and romantic vibe to it, perfect for a date night!

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! The vibe, food, drinks, EVERYTHING! I have been here numerous times as I live around the neighborhood and each time I come I try to order something new and every single thing on their menu is divine. The consistency of the flavor and quality of the dishes is impeccable. Well worth the money. I highly recommend the Valencia Paella (seafood paella). On Thursday nights they have special pricing on this dish. The patatas bravas are amazing as well and definitely a must. For drinks, I highly recommend the "Ibiza pool" if you like tequila. It used to be on the actual menu but it no longer is---however the bartenders are familiar with it and still make it for me every time I request it. It is so yummy! The service is always top tier. We are typically seated fairly quickly although Friday and Saturday nights, and most evenings when they have happy hour, it can get very very busy. Sala also has a live band and shows certain nights. Makes for such a great vibe. This place gives me a little bit of Spain in Astoria and I love it. This place is well worth a visit if you're in Queens/Astoria.

Yelp
Great Spanish restaurant for group hangouts or date night. Reservations are recommended because it gets packed on weekend nights. Staff are friendly and efficient. This place offers many different types of tapas and we had hard time deciding! We ordered a bunch of tapas and the seafood paella at the end for a group of 5. Food are very tasty. We also ordered churros and lava cake for desserts! Lava cake is amazing!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Friday and the service was awesome. We sat at the bar for happy hour and got some drinks. The cocktails were made perfectly and the service was super attentive and friendly at the bar. The espresso martini had had shaved chocolate on it and that was a great touch. We migrated over to tables for dinner and had some of their tapas and they were delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
BloodyMary was disgusting. Everything else was PERFECT! Service was genius, food was everything we expected. The one dessert wasn't authentic. Ambiance is like eating in a garage. Very noisy!
google avatar

Juliany M.

Yelp
This place really surprise us! The restaurant vibe and environment was so comfortable and chill. The service was great with water refills at all times and someone checking on you here and there. You need to try the croquetas, flavor was excellent; only concern was that they serve them with no dipping sauce ( all my croquetas experience they give you a dipping sauce) . And for sure go for the paella as a main dish. We got the special of the day, lamb paella. It was very tasteful and a big portion for 2. Just be aware that they will make it at the moment and you will wait for 30 minutes, but totally worth it.

Yelp
This is a really good Tapas place. The food was great. I highly recommend the shrimp, scallops, croquettes with ham and the hanger steak. I would skip the canned sardines and roasted Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were not very tasty and the canned sardines is like anything you buy in the market.
google avatar

Yelp
We walked in here on a Sunday night because our friend recommended it. It definitely met our expectations! The food came out quickly and were also delicious. We especially liked the calamari (which was a special for the day) and the chicken. They were both very tender and flavorful. I would definitely come back and try more of their dishes.

Yelp
I mean, where do I begin? This will be my go to tapas spot in Queens. Their menu boast a wide variety of flavors, textures, and is appealing to the eye, as well as the taste buds. They also have a great drinks and Mocktail menu. The servers were attentive, engaging and friendly as it got very packed and busy. Loved the bright and airy. Definitely a must try for brunch or dinner.

Yelp
I haven't written a review in a while but this place is so good I had to make some time to do so. Went here for the first time about a month ago and fell in love! The food here is amazing! (I've been back two more times since!) Everything I ate was absolutely incredible. The taste, the presentation- fantastic. Drinks too! Specialty drinks are delicious. Second, the service. Greeted as soon as I walked in and seated immediately. I went on a Saturday night (all 3 times so far) about 5pm and it wasn't crazy busy, I noticed it began to get busier though as the night went on. All the staff greets you with a smile, very pleasant, very attentive and always checking on you throughout the meal. They even say "goodbye and thank you" when you are leaving. As for the ambiance- it's a very spacious place with some low lighting. Very nice bar area, with tv's-high top and low top table seating- and clean bathrooms. There's some music playing but not to the point where you can't hear each other for a conversation. This place is becoming a favorite of mine and very quickly. Highly recommended coming here! I took a bunch of pictures of the various foods I've tried so you can all see how delicious everything looks!
google avatar

Yelp
Little late on the review but this place is nice... Expensive as well but still nice. Service is great, place is huge with two bars! Came here for a little birthday dinner I was invited to after work but couldn't eat anything, sadly no vegan options. Favorite drink of the night was called "white shoes" $18 each... steep for Astoria, Queens. Enjoy!!
google avatar

Alba P.

Yelp
We came to celebrate my sister's birthday. We loved everything, especially the paella. The ambiance was festive and loud since Spain was playing England for the UEFA Euro finals...must be the reason service was a little slow, but staff became aware and rectified immediately.
google avatar

Yelp
You're getting true nyc style, food and sincere service. There's a discreet dj that sets up at the bar on the left. Acoustically, I'm never competing. The space fills with lounge music, but it's never too loud to talk and listen. Our second visit was different yet, just as great as the first. We sat at one of the bar's this time to take advantage of the HH menu from 5-7p. Since it was Good Friday we opted for no meat dishes, but oh I hear you iberico ham. This time it was... Empanadillas, four light and airy blazing hot distant cousins to the empanada minus the thick crust. Gambas Al Ajillo again! A must. Queso De Cabra Con Miel, pillowy fried goat cheese goodness with honey not to be missed. Tosta De Heuvos Con Trufa, if you like eggs like we do this is it. And $6 sangrias! Our new place.

Yelp
We came here to try the all night happy hour on Monday. I'm glad we did because the food and drinks were excellent!! We had the pan con tomate which was as good if not the best we've had in NY. Also the tortilla Español was runny just like in Spain. The star and favorite of mine of the night was the suckling pig which I will definitely be back again for more!!
google avatar

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Loved how the moment you walk in it was a big spacious area. Everything here was delicious but the dish that really stood out was the grilled octopus. I've never had it before and it was so delicious. It paired so well with the sauce and potato. They also have events throughout so you should definitely check them out if you're in the area! The servers were really kind and checked in to make sure everything was ok. The food came out pretty quick as well. The calamari here is also a must!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. Everything about this place is a 10/10, without question. Upon walking in with my family, we were greeted so nicely by the hostess and were sat down right away for our reservation for four. The lighting and the interior design of the entire restaurant including the 2 bars that make up the perimeter of the restaurant is very sleek. They also have a good music playlist in the background that contributes to the overall vibe as well. We started with a pitcher of red sangria - that was comparable to the quality of sangria that I had when I spent 2 weeks in Spain. It was excellent. We then ordered the Gambas Al Ajillo (garlic & olive oil shrimp) which was out of this world. Make sure you order more bread to dip with the leftover sauce. The sliced chorizo came next which was cooked perfectly - crunchy on the outside with a soft and juicy texture on the inside. For our main course we ordered the seafood paella and also an order of the Branzino. The seafood paella here is extremely tasty and authentic because they use the correct grain of rice that is used in Spain as opposed to the long grain of rice other restaurants use here in America. The Paella was cooked perfectly. The Branzino - wow. The portion of the Branzino was huge. Tasted amazing and cooked perfectly and served without bones. Overall, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff here is certainly unmatched. The taste and the quality of all the dishes we had here last night was simply - incredible. This is certainly one of my favorite restaurants in New York.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has an amazing atmosphere and you can tell everything is top of the line when they have a Dyson hand dryer! Food was pretty good and so was the sangria, old fashion was too sweet and even though we ordered the sangria with happy hour prices it was pretty expensive overall. Other than price I think this place is spectacular.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing place to visit , tasty dinner and drinks! For sure can recommend this nice spot in LIC !

Yelp
Food was great if around the are try it's really good we had had the sangria, gambas, paella seafood was amazing

Yelp
This is a perfect date spot. The service is impeccable. However, I found the food quite underwhelming. Out of all the dishes I've had, I thought their pan tumaca was the star...which was the cheapest dish as well. The cost of each dish was quite high and I was expecting great flavors and quality and it just didn't meet my expectations. The octopus--avoid. It was extremely chewy. Definitely overcooked. The green sauce was very tasty though. Patatas brava--it was good. A kick of spice was a nice touch. Paella--$25 a person?! $$$$$$. It's good but not worth the price. I definitely Can find more reasonable and tastier paellas in queens. The steak--it was cooked well. The fries were great. The salad....it was beyond salty. Ensalada de la casa--$17 for some romaine lettuce, tuna, red onions, olives, and evoo?? Our waitress recommended this salad and I was so unsatisfied. It was very basic and 1000% regret ordering this dish. The restaurant looks pleasant but I wouldn't come here again.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely loved stopping by here at such a random moment. My friends and I were around the block trying out an Italian spot that was eh ok. This spot was right next door and we decided to sit at the bar for some drinks. First of all the atmosphere was great with the music and decor. The service was perfect we were instantly seated at the bar and everyone was cheerful and smiling. Our bartender Alex recommended us some drinks and was always checking up on how we were doing. We ordered some friend calamari that was perfection. We also ordered some desserts and coffee afterwards. Will definitely be coming back here for brunch or dinner! Cannot wait!
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Come early because it does get packed great for a date and a group. Good food and great choices that each have their own taste that keep you wanting more, be sure to get a drink that will help. The menu is somewhat short and to the point with a diverse set of choices and brief descriptions that are to the point. The Haricot vert con higos were refreshing and sweet with a trist from the truffles. Its a decent portion thats mean for 2 at least and can keep resetting your palet as you eat through your choice of tapas. Tosta de huevos con trufa - egg, fried potatoes - not what i expected but enjoyed the sunnyside egg with the light truffle taste. Be sure to keep some extra break for the yolk and break the yolk before you bite into it, it can get messy. Datiles - the perfect bite sized snack and bacon dessert you need as a treat. The sweetness and saltiness here work hand in hand but the almond at the middle is the real treat. Hanger a la plancha - the meat was medium well and had a rich taste from the butter and onions. also needs extra bread here to get those juices from the meat.

Yelp
An escape to Spain has arrived in Astoria! Wow, I was very impressed by the flavors. Would highly recommend if you want to experience authentic Spanish cuisine. My mom and I came here on a Friday night for dinner. It was a little busy, but the service was great! Didn't feel rushed and the servers allowed us to take our time with with our order. Interior decor was an A+. Ultimately, we decided on the Croquetas, Patatas Bravas and the Arroz Del Diá- which was the Paella de Pollo. The Croquetas were pretty good but could've used more ham inside, as a previous Yelper mentioned. The filling was mostly bechamel and mushrooms- didn't really taste much ham, but they were tasty. The patatas bravas definitely had a spicy kick to them! I enjoyed this dish as well. The paella came out piping hot and tasted so much like a homemade meal. You could tell it was made from scratch. The chicken was nice and soft to bite into and the ingredients were well-balanced. Hands down, one of the best paella dishes I've ever had. For dessert, we ordered the Manzana Asada. The apple was baked perfectly! It had the perfect ratio of sweetness and the outside was nice and crispy. The caramel also tasted homemade. Would definitely order this dish again. The only reason I am giving this restaurant 4 stars is because the food was on the pricier side. I understand that the restaurant just opened recently, though I would probably opt for a different selection of dishes next time. Didn't think the Patatas Bravas were worth it for $13. Also wasn't a huge fan of the $22 per person for sharing a paella. Would rather have it set to a standard price. However, I would come back and explore the menu.

Yelp
Great place for tapas and delicious cocktails! Jamon serrano tabla with "white shoes" for cocktails. Dont forget of the grilled pulpo.

Danielle R.

Yelp
Delicious food, refreshing cocktails, amazing service, very nice, upscale ambiance. Ordered several tapas & shared some entrees and I felt like I was on El Camino de Santiago! Absolutely loved the gazpacho special and am hoping it'll be a regular item on the menu.

Yelp
Great service , inviting friendly uplifting ambiance. Wonderful Sangria .... Nice menu with a good selection, daily specials A group of five , 5 appetizers 3 entrees +3 desserts A sharing table ------ Our score was a "8" Check it out, it just might be a your next home away from home !

Yelp
A group of us came in on Tuesday night for their Queens event and had such a great time! Really good drinks and food - we loved the gaspacho, croquetas, gambas al ajillo, hanger a la plancha, setas con brie and tequila drinks. The tapas are meant for 2 people so if you have a larger group, definitely order a bit more but everything is fresh and hot outta the kitchen. I did find the hanger a la plancha just a little bit salty but that's just me. Everything else ewas great! Marganzilla is the go to if you love tequila - it's not too strong nor sweet and just has the perfect blend of everything. I think we must have gotten at least 6 of those! Our server - oops didn't catch her name - was really nice! She kept coming around to make sure our drinks were good. Will return for their other items!

Yelp
So good!! Great vibe, great food, great wine, and amazing service! We were so hungry and the food was so good, we didn't get any pics before stuffing our faces haha. This spot is beautiful inside, such a great space. All the food we tried was so good. My favourite was the Hanger a la Plancha *chef's kiss*. If you love steak, definitely give that a try! The wine was just as good as the food, too. For a nice dry medium-bodied red, try the Losada, I highly recommend. Superb service as well!!! Gabriella was our waitress and she was super nice, friendly, and personable! She's awesome. The food came and went at a great pace, nothing was slow or rushed. The only complaint I have is the prices. Some of the tapas are fairly priced, but some are ridiculous (i.e. $17 for four tiny fried goat cheese balls- I was really looking forward to these, too, but they were def not worth $17, they were just ok). Overall we had a great experience and are looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Great food, great ambience, impeccable service! This is a great date spot! Food: I'd you are craving tapas, this is an amazing spot to get some. We ordered the croquetas, queso de cabra de miel, pulpo a la plancha, and tortilla espanola. My favorites were the (1) croquetas, which were incredibly creamy (2) the queso de cabra de miel, which had the perfect texture and the honey added so much flavor. The octopus was really well made and the fish came with potatoes (which is why we skipped on the patatas bravas). The tortilla espanola was very fluffy and good. There was no part of this meal that I was disappointed with except for not being able to try more dishes. 4 dishes was more than enough for two people! Ambience: the restaurant is located underneath the train tracks. So you wouldn't assume, the large inviting atmosphere, Sala gives off. We arrived at 6 pm on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty but within 1 hour it started to fill up. They have a large open space with two bars! It had a very upscale vibe! Service: amazing service! The waiter was so attentive that our glass never ran out of water! They gave great recommendations! Price: it's expensive for the sizes but with it and on par with other tapas restaurants in nyc!

Yelp
Ehh I'm not too sure how to rate this place. The food wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything that wow'd me. I got the goat cheese with caramelized onions and honey because I LOVE cheese and the pictures online looked really good but when I received it it just didn't look as pretty as the photo. I also enjoyed the croquettes and the garlic shrimp. The patatas bravas were mehhh. I prefer my potatoes crispy and these were not. For the desert my friends and I ordered a different one each. The almond cake was delicious and moist. The chocolate cake with ice cream was rich. As for the churros they were just too fried and hollow. The service was amazing though! Very polite and attentive. The space is also very beautiful and large.

Chris M.

Yelp
Excellent food. Diverse menu. Very professional staff. Cool open decor. Can't do much better than this really good and comfortable restaurant.

Yelp
We love going to Sala the food is always great and we love the tapas style dinning because you get to have a little bit of everything I think it's a great new edition to Astoria. We live over on Ditmars a bit of a trek but we'll worth it . I had two huge bars and a lounge area I must say this place fills up fast which makes for a great ambiance it makes you feel like your in Manhattan. Our Favorite is of course the classic pan tumaca with the lomo iberico bellota ! Fantastic I could eat it daily we usually always order more then one order because it is so good . We have also tried the papatas bravos ,gambas, and the hanger steak served on bread all were delicious. If I'm being honest we also tried the meatballs we were not a fan, kinda disappointed in them but all else was amazing

Yelp
Sala is in an unassuming part of Astoria, right next to the elevated subway tracks. Street parking was east to find on the same block. The interior of the restaurant is very modern meets cozy, with warm wooden tones and high ceilings. The service was extremely hospitable and as well. came in a group of 5 for a very late brunch/lunch (around 3pm) on a Saturday. Because of the awkward timing the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We ordered the fried goat cheese, patatas bravas, octopus, and steak paella. My favorite was the steak paella, which was listed on the board as a dinner special. The chef was able to make it for us during the lunch hours as we were really intrigued and interested in trying something other than your typical seafood paella (which is offered during lunch). For the same price as the seafood paella, we got a strip of perfectly cooked medium rare steak over a bed of paella with more pieces of steak, mushrooms, and green beans. I took it was super worth and was so happy they made an exception and let us eat it during lunch, highly recommend! The other tapas were also delicious, the octopus came with a lovely green sauce. Although Sala is a little out of the way for me, I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
First time trying food from Spain and I must say, VERY GOOD! The service was beyond great. My server made sure I was well taken cared of. She had some great recommendations. I went on on Flamenco night which is every Tuesday, and the show was very delightful and entertaining. This is a great lunch with your friends or date night spot. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Couldn't have asked for a better experience at Sala Astoria. Literally transported me to Spain with the tapas, ambiance and flamenco show that me and my boyfriend did not even know they were having that night. Their cheesecake was also amazing! Plan to come back soon.

Yelp
Everything about Sala is great. The food, staff, ambience. Our server Maria is so kind and very helpful with recommendations. The service is very attentive. Empty plates were removed right away, drinks were refilled quickly, and food was delivered promptly. We tried the Pollo al Horno, paella de mariscos, Pan Tumaca, and Hanger a la Plancha. All were the perfect temperature and had incredible flavor. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Sala is minimalistic and modern. Perfect vibes for a date night and love the addition of live music. I went on a Tuesday and they were having Flamenco Night. I got here around 6:45PM and it was pretty full. We sat at the bar to take advantage of their HH drink specials and also because we were just having a quick meal before our movie. Sala is a Spanish tapas bar. I would say the food is pretty pricy for their portions. Would I say they have the best tapas I've ever had? Probably not but I'll still be back! I enjoyed their cocktails. Their menu is extensive which made it somewhat overwhelming. We had the gambas, pan tumaca con jamon iberico, patatas bravas and one of their specials, pincho de piquillo which they described as a stuffed pepper with lump crabmeat. However, what I got was more of a crostini. Nonetheless, still tasty. Personally, I thought the gambas and patatas bravas were drenched with too much sauce and oil. The pan tumaca is what I would recommend; you can taste that the iberico ham was freshly imported. Service at the bar was great as well.

Yelp
We just spent an amazing dinner at SALA. The service was perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. The breaded calamari, the croquettes, bacon wrapped dates, chorizos, empanadas, patatas bravas, pan tumaca, The red Sangria and to end with churros, flan and chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream was the bomb. We can't wait to go back. Thank you all for a very memorable evening.

Yelp
YES Sala!!!!! I have always been obsessed with paella but my wife and I have become obsessed with all that is Spanish cuisine ever since our trip to Spain in 2019. Unfortunately paella here, even in NYC, is normally not very authentic in ingredients or flavor. But Sala has corrected that. We got the paella special for the night which was duck, rabbit and chicken and it was so rich and smokey and utterly delicious. We restrained ourselves and only ordered 2 opening pintxos (tapas) and they were equally fantastic. We got our obligatory croquetas filled with delicious Imberico ham and béchamel. The panko coating was perfectly thin and egg shell consistency. We were then steered by our waiter to try the queso con cabra con miel which was fried goat cheese with carmalized onion and honey. WOW! Just delicious. The atmosphere is clean open kitchen concept with a great bar and on the night we were there they had live flamenco music and dancing. We will definitely return and probably spend a night at the bar slowly working our way through more pintxos.
