The stylish sister to Saladang, designed around concrete walls and laser-cut screens evoking a Thai sala. Its architecture garnered design awards and a James Beard design nomination, while the kitchen refines classics for celebratory meals.

Very good food and service is good. Food tastes authentic but a bit on the pricey side although well worth it because of the portion size. Would recommend this place if you crave Thai.

Wow! This place is GREAT. Stopped here for the first time. The portions are family style so beware. I was wondering why the prices seemed high but the portions account for it. The atmosphere is so calm and chill. I ordered the beef salad and the chicken satay. Everything was DELICIOUS!!!!! The peanut sauce that comes with the chicken satay is INSANELY good and has depth. The only thing I’d say is that I didn’t like that they put the piping hot beef over my nice cold salad. Wish they would have cooled it a bit so it didn’t wilt the salad. Otherwise I’m definitely coming get more often!

Google
This place has insane value. Each dish is quite cheap and are big portions. A great spot for a family style dinner, the more people the better. The interior is spacious and open with tradition yet modern vibes. There are plenty of outdoor seating as well. Food is tasty, but the pad Thai was not the best.

Nice Thai restaurant with good food and good service. The portion is very good that will make you more happy - tasty food & full Tommy 😅😅

Don't waste your time and money here. The service here has gotten so bad that it's the worst restaurant I've been to yet. I used to come here with my family and friends before, but now I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you want to ruin your day. 1. The moment we walked in, we were just given an unfriendly look and was taken to a table with no greeting. 2. The cups were quiet dirty and had things floating inside. When asked to replace it, the waitress didn't look like she wanted to help at all. 3. She also slams the condiments on the table when I asked for some chili. 4. Not long after we got the food, we were asked if we want to get a to-go box for the food while we were still eating. It hasn't even been 10 minutes and I'm given my check. (As I'm putting food in my mouth) All I wanted to do at that point was to leave and never come back. I went there around 1 pm and got out in less than 30 minutes. Just save your time and go somewhere else. The food here isn't what it used to be and you can get better thai food and an even better experience someplace else. The experience I had here was worse than waiting in line at a DMV.

Google
When this restaurant opened as a more “Thai” version of the original Saladang it was pure joy. Gracious service, gorgeous garden and full, fresh flavors. Sadly, it’s just another mediocre Thai place now with generous portions of noodles, basic ingredients, and a real lack of imagination. The fresh herbs, and veggies are gone. The deep, complex balance of heat, sweet and tang that brought me back is entirely absent. The garden is not well maintained. Despite have good bones, the space feels neglected. ** Most of all— so do the plates.**

Google
Saladang Garden is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of LA! Been going here for years and the quality of the food, staff, and environment has remained top notch. My favorite dish is Thai basil eggplant with both tofu and chicken. Of course I need to get it with a side of sticky rice. Always plenty of parking on the street or in their parking lot. Honestly, I'd eat here every day if I could!

Google
Outstanding Khao Soi! It was perfect. I’d love to come back for another bowl :) The service was exceedingly slow (-1 point) even though they were not busy. Our kids were struggling to keep it together by the time food came. But it was very tasty once it did!

Yelp
We celebrated one of my nephew's college graduation with 40+ invitees. The place is clean and very spacious, not crammed. The staff were not overly friendly (smile) but they were polite and attentive. I only had to proactively ask for water once, but after that they came by several times for the party guests. For someone who has been to different parts of Thailand numerous times, their food was good and authentic. The chicken satay was tender and delicious. The pad thai was well balanced, most restaurants in Los Angeles make it too tangy. The crab fried rice was a crowd favorite. The chilli eggplant with tofu was my favorite. Their curries were tasty as well. The whole fried fish is also recommended. For dessert, mango is in season and their sticky mango rice is decent tasting. There is a shared parking lot next the the restaurant, as well as plenty of street parking.

Yelp
I went here because a friend recommended it, but I was really disappointed. The service was poor, the food wasn't great, and the hygiene was questionable. I won't be coming back. I don't get why I had to feel uncomfortable around the server. I'm a paying customer -- the attitude was really off-putting.

Yelp
Hands down one of the most consistent and delicious Thai restaurants around. I think the servers are kind and friendly, the portions are huge and everything is ALWAYS delicious. I have never ordered anything I didn't like or wouldn't recommend. Kimberly R that left a review trying to compare authentic delicious Thai food from here to Erewhon pretty much sums up the fact that her review holds no merit. lol. Don't sleep on this spot, I love Thai food.... trust. I love it here and you will too, You're welcome,

Yelp
It has been so long since my last time here. It was so nice to come here again! Came here for lunch with my colleagues, and we shared the dishes. We ordered the Fish cake, Crispy trout, Hainan chicken, tofu Pad Thai, yummy eggplant Salad, Chicken yellow curry, and Pineapple fried rice. The food was so good! My colleagues came here for the first time even said they will definitely come back, too. The place is very nice, we can describe it as fine dining experience. Also, they have their own parking lot at the side and at rear. If you prefer a causal setting, you may also try their sister restaurant that's right next to it.

Yelp
Terrible service. Extremely unfriendly. No acknowledgment of customers. We dealt with two different servers. Neither one say a word when they bring us menus and when they brought our food. McDonalds has better service than this place. Would not recommend this place.

Yelp
I love me Thai food, always. Such a beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant always feels so inviting with their floor to ceiling windows and high ceilings! The space is very bright and airy, but also can be very moody for dinner. I read on their website that the space (indoor or outdoor) can be reserved for events as well. Parking never seems to be an issue here, there are plenty of parking in their lot and street parking as well. What I ordered: Crispy Pork Salad 10/5 - There's something about the sauce that pairs so well with this salad. It's like a fish sauce but more on the sour/vinegar-y side. Such a refreshing dish and I swear I can just eat this all to myself. Haha the portion size is shareable among a few people. Yellow Curry Chicken 5/5 - Super fragrant and not spicy, although I believe you can change your spice levels. BBQ Pork Rice Bowl 2/5 - The picture on the menu looked so promising and honestly this one disappointed me. The BBQ Pork was very dry and lacked so much flavor. I wouldn't order this again Garlic Pepper Pork Bowl 3.5/5 - This tasted much better than the BBQ Pork Rice bowl. It was lot more flavorful and the meat wasn't dry. Service is always fast here, and the waiters are super friendly. Enjoy!

Yelp
Service great, ambiance beautiful and peaceful. Staff was helpful with my questions about the food. I tried the Pad Thai veggies only. It was good but a bit sweet for my liking. I tried my Dad's eggplant (also sweet), and I even tried my hubby's curry chicken (still sweet). I feel someone favors sweet over savory in the kitchen. That's great if you like that sort of thing but it got to be a little too much for my palate. I'll still come back and try it again but only if I feel like something sweet. Parking lot is available so that is a plus and lunch special during the weekdays.

Yelp
Really nice setting outside. Really good Thai food. Went with three friends and we all enjoyed ourselves. I had their barbecue chicken. My friends all have lunch specials.

Yelp
Have loved this place forever, however it's never been as good as when it was run by the original owners. But these days, it is still lovely. The food was mostly excellent. It seemed some little things were missing, but still quite good. The service was very good. But, keep in mind they really do close at 8:00...like they need to be done and gone, ie waitstaff is not paid past then. So last call, unless you want to be rushed out, is really 6:30/6:45.

Yelp
Sunday early dinner. Cron fritters, chicken satay, drunken noodle and curry lamb shank. The corn fritter was interesting but a bit oily. Satay was good and flavorful, not dry. But drunken noodle was lacking much flavor or "wok breath". Lamb shank was very mid with little curry flavor and served kind of dry as well Not particularly.impressive. service was good and we git seated quickly. Parking was plentiful.

Yelp
I accidentally ordered from saladang garden instead of Saladang. I ordered a pad see ew and it had zero flavor and it was cold. I was so hungry I decided to just eat it anyways and I found what looks like a thick corse piece of hair in it or it's a piece of plastic. It's thin like hair but really hard like plastic. It could be from the container, I'm not really sure. I don't know if they have different chefs or use different recipes, but it really was plain. I wouldn't order again.

Yelp
Haven't been in years so introduced my bf here for lunch this weekend. Went because I recall really liking their banana dessert which is rolled in coconut and lit on fire. Well they don't light it on fire and it wasn't as good as I remember. Also the honey that came with it tasted like it had lavender which did not enhance the flavor. The chicken sate is very good. I ordered the drunken noodles with pork. It was okay. My bf ordered the pad see something. It was okay. Ambiance and service is good but flavor is better at President Thai.

Yelp
Saladang Garden is a beautiful dining experience! The building is tall with large windows and a lavish interior and beautiful orchids on each table. We came on a Tuesday night and ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp, basil and chili eggplant with shrimp, and soy ginger sea bass. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, soft and tender on the inside with a delicious soy sauce glaze and shredded ginger on top over a bed of bok choy. It was on the pricy side at $35 for the dish, and the fish was smaller than we expected. The basil and chili eggplant was delicious where the eggplant was slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was a flavor bomb that absorbed all of the sauce and paired great with rice. It was not as spicy as we expected. The shrimp in our drunken noodles was delicious and the drunken noodles had a great texture and bounce to the noodles. It reminded me more of chow fun noodles and the sauce was slightly sweet. For the three dishes, it did come out to ~$80 before tip. Overall, Saladang Garden was a great dining experience and excellent food. The only thing we were confused by is that there is a Saladang restaurant right next door and a Saladang Garden and we're not sure what the difference is.

Yelp
Ummm, this used to be a staple of good Thai food and I think the food is still decent. My issue is the music! They're blasting Cardi B and Lola Young and the f bombs are dropping like crazy... and the N word, and pu$$y and everything else. This would be fine for a bar or after hours place but lot of families come here, as well as a lot of older people. I really don't think this is appropriate for any restaurant.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
People giving this place anything under 4 stars is tripping. The portions here are huge and the flavors are on point. The service is lacking because there's only 3 staff most of the time. But we came here with a family of 9 and had the biggest best tasting spread in a while. This is 2025 people. The fried catfish is as good if not better than lotus of Siam in Vegas. The crab fried rice is awesome and can feed a family of 4 easily. This is not super refined Thai food like the Saladang next store. This is awesome bang for your buck, flavorful family food.

Yelp
A wide, airy space suitable for groups. Kudos to our server who attended to our impromptu group of 10. The food is a little uneven, with some good dishes and some not as much to our liking. The samosas had a thin, crisp crust, but for me, the amount and texture of the potatoes was a little overwhelming. The chicken sate skewers were good, but the sauce was kind of gelatinous. The papaya salad had a nice kick, but it was overly sweet, the large pieces of raw green bean were off-putting and the elements just didn't blend. The green curry with eggplants and tofu was the star, only a little too sweet and not quite spucy enough, but otherwise flavorful. The catfish was reportedly crunchy and an overall good choice. The person next to me did not enjoy the Pad Thai because there was an overwhelming amount of pork and a large omelette on top. I'll take his word for that. The sticky rice with mango was pretty good. Portions were generous and several of us took home leftovers.

Yelp
Since it's the best tasting breakfast spot in the area, my dad and I would come here for congee growing up in the early morning. Congee is simple to make but a lot of effort to make well, and they simmer rice and water for hours starting when it is still dark outside.

Yelp
Easy four starts. Great atmosphere. Lots of outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating as well. I have been to Saladang, which is right next door a few times which I also love. This place is a "garden" so it offers lots of outdoor seating. There's plenty of indoor seating too. It's pretty much all windows for walls which means lots of natural lighting. Really nice. The food was great. I had the catfish fillet. $16.00. It came with rice and salad. The fish was deep fried...kind of like fish 'n chips, but rice instead of chips. It was super light and tasty. Too bad they didn't have french fries to go with it. I'd be all in! OK, sorry, I regress, I know it's a Tai restaurant. haha. My friend had the Papaya Salad. $14. She loved it. I had a taste. I loved it, too. Nice and fresh. The service was great, and the atmosphere was too. Perfect to have a nice meal and a nice chat. I saw a small group of people celebrating a birthday there. Perfect place for for that, too. They have a good-sized parking lot and plenty of street parking out front. I will certainly return.

Yelp
Glad to be able to dine here again after a long time! It was busy when my friend and I arrived. Nice ambiance and clean as always. For us, the serving was big. * Kai Kata - This is one of their breakfast dishes. It had two over-easy eggs, ground chicken sprinkled with green onions, slices of Chinese sausage. I also picked brown rice for my order. Yummy and filling dish. * Basil & Chili Lunch Combo - This was served with chicken, two veggie wontons and mixed salad. My friend picked brown rice also. Delicious and savory. * Thai Iced Coffee - Sweet and refreshing! This is the first time I had this drink. It kind of reminds of Vietnamese coffee, but not as intense. Private parking available. Great customer service! Our server made sure we had our water glasses refilled. Looking forward to come back here again.

Yelp
We had a wonderful waitress named Apple that was super patient with our dinner group of five. The inside is loud and the round table we had sat at was very spacious. I always order my favorite dish which is Chicken Pad Thai spicy level and vegetable fried rice spicy too. I tried my friend's Pork Belly dish and it was pretty good. The Pad Thai was very good and the portions were a good size and there was plenty of food to share.

Yelp
If you are looking for a good Thai food restaurant, look no further! I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend who went to Thailand and says that this is the closest it gets in the area. Came here for lunch and the service was great. The place is pretty big with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The food is authentic and delicious.

Yelp
I was here for the first time as it was a birthday dinner however the service was disappointing. Our members arrived at 6:00pm this past Tuesday 11/14/2023. We weren't properly greeted or told where to sit, so we asked if we could sit at one of the round tables. We had to ask for waters, straws, and lemon. The lemon wasn't brought out when we asked, and we felt as if we were ignored. The only time we were greeted was when we were ready to place an order... No one else passed by to ask if we needed to have our waters refilled or if we needed extra plates or anything else in regards to service. I probably wouldn't come back due to the lack of service even though the food itself was decent. Actually, the food was better than other places I've gone to. There is plenty of parking both in the lot and on the street which is good for customers. We ordered the following items: Glass Noodle Salad Drunken Noodles Green Curry Basil & Chili Eggplant Seafood Tom Yum No drinks were ordered other than plain water.
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
We have been avid fans of both restaurants and have never been disappointed. With either the service or the food. We highly recommend this Thai restaurant for all of your dinners out.
google avatar

Kimberly R.

Yelp
Ok first of all, we were never told that this restaurant is family style and I asked what the difference was between this restaurant and the Saladang next door and all our server said was next door served traditional menu, in my mind I'm thinking authentic, NOT massive portions. I'm gluten free and confirmed everything we had was GF, even tho some items on the menu weren't labeled gluten free she said they were, idk if this was true because my bf and I had a reaction after. I was up all night with bloating, body aches, and a headache aka food sensitivity symptoms. We paid $75 to make ourselves sick. I can't believe they charge this much for poor quality. I would NEVER come back here again. Erewhon charges way less and their ingredients are clean and healthy.

Theresa G.

Yelp
This place has really delicious Thai Food!!! The people are sooo friendly and accommodating! Plus, the place accommodates large parties, indoor or outdoor! Servers are very nice! Thank you for a wonderful birthday experience!
google avatar

Mody M.

Yelp
Ambiance is great, staff are courteous but slow (probably understaffed), food presentation are impressive, prices have gone up a bit, and my entree (lamb shank - my favorite) was a bit salty. At least the entrees are plentiful. My favorite mango sticky rice dessert is still super.
google avatar

Fabiana K.

Yelp
Food was not very good compared to other Thai restaurants. I drove far to try this place but it was a little disappointing. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was special. I got the bbq chicken lunch combo and the chicken came kinda dry and regular seasoning, salad came with (too) big chunks of cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce, and my friend's pad thai was nothing exceptional. In all, it worth it if you work or live close and are craving Thai food, but not good enough to make me drive from Van Nuys.

Rob B.

Yelp
Good Thai food here, dishes are perfect for sharing with 4 people in your party. Not open late though, so go early.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I usually go to the Saladang side and overlook the Saladang Garden. Thought I'd give it a try today. This side I find is quieter. The staff is more friendly and service is better. The food is just as good as well as the presentation of the food. Parking is on a lot in between the two restaurants or street parking.
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
Had to give a 5 for the food here, Always been coming here for Thai food crave. They never disappoint and you're always accommodated no matter how busy. Service well done. Food is always tastefully made! They added this corn fritter apps and it's a must hit! We love having the whole fish fried here but be wary for those who don't like to see the fish head when consuming. Their sizzling dishes are also must. When it comes to curry dishes, I've never been disappointed here. Definitely My second best in the city of Pasadena whenever I crave good Thai food. Great open airy ambiance outdoors and very spacious inside as well. I would highly recommend this over the next door Saladang when it comes to celebrating occasions.
google avatar

Liza C.

Yelp
Had a late lunch/early dinner with my friend. There was one table occupied outdoors. We chose to stay inside to stay warm. The service was very slow. The pad see ew was overcooked! It seemed like they repurposed a left over. Thai corn fritter was a disappointment too. I guess we went there at the time where we were served crap! What happened to this place?
google avatar

Benjamin N.

Yelp
The best Pad Thai hands down, full of flavor and nicely wrapped in egg with tons of meat. The few times we've been, the service was good and the food came out quickly. Our favorite Thai place in the area.

Edna E.

Yelp
Service is always excellent! We always enjoy the food here! Top our list is the Fried Catfish and Seafood Salad!! Yummy!!
google avatar

George H.

Yelp
Excellent Thai dishes, perfect flavor, love the stuff fried chicken wings. Very friendly service. Outdoor seating with perfect ambiance & atmosphere
google avatar

Chester B.

Yelp
One of the OG Thai restaurants in Pasadena. I remember growing up, this was the first Thai restaurant my aunt took me to. Food is still good but I feel like the portions have gotten smaller. Another disappointing thing was their last call for the kitchen was 7:30... and this was a Friday night. Decor is still nice and they do have an other door dining experience next door as well. We were just unlucky as it was privately booked for an event.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
Usually eating here once a week for lunch. Customer service is usually on point. Lunch specials are very filling and plenty to choose from. Live me some thai boba coffee as well!
google avatar

Computer C.

Yelp
Pre pandemic this place was amazing and that goes for the food, the service and the cleanliness. Fast forward to now and this is just the Thai place you go to in Pasadena if you don't want to wait for a better Thai place... even on a Saturday night this place can seat you right away. There are just much better Thai food places at the same price point that will require a wait but that wait time may be worth it. Dirty spoons, mild food poisoning from uncooked seafood, MSG laden dishes and then the inevitable thirsty aftermath of the meal all that combined with rude service to top it all off? No thanks. Pass.
google avatar

Solly L.

Yelp
Saladang! Our go to Thai food staple. Does not disappoint. Service is always good. Only one time we were asked to finish our event, went a little over time, they turned off AC to drive us out. It was their polite way of saying that our time is up. Food is always great!

Ms. J.

Yelp
Ordered from grub hub so unfortunately my first experience with this place was more expensive than it needed to be. Ordered the green curry with chicken. Veggies were sparse. A few canned bamboo shoots and a couple pieces of eggplant with one small piece of barely cooked pepper. This is more savory than sweet but the savory flavor seems to be coming from the oil they use to cook the food which is overpowering - not unlike at a Chinese food place- the chicken was definitely dark meat and had lots of grizzle and fat attached to it. This dish was kind of gross. Nothing like the green curries I have had all over LA, and SD.

Yelp
Had my husband's 50th Birthday lunch here with a group of 20. We reserved our spot a few days in advance. We didn't need to preorder but I did have my order ready when we got there. Our table was ready when we arrived. Parking lot and street parking available. Our server was absolutely wonderful!! The service was super speedy. The food was SPECTACULAR!! From the satay and egg roll appetizers, to the pad thai, panang curry, and sea bass!! Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take pictures of the food. But take my word for it, everyone loved it from all the ooohs and ahhhs around the long table. We also brought two cakes that they graciously held until it was time to blow the candles. They were all so attentive and didn't rush us to leave, even for a Sunday afternoon. Totally would recommend and for sure we'll be back!!
google avatar

Lan F.

Yelp
We did not like the service of the two waiter and waitresses to night . Seem like they had an attitude picked and choose who they want to served, they didn't even offered to change our plates on our table but automatically did it the next table , and it took them a long time just to bring out hot waters . Food wasn't good I regretted. To me I wouldn't recommend to no one . Ps . if you are Asian ...you get poor service but others ...you would see their smiling faces and no attitude.
google avatar

Trisha W.

Yelp
Perhaps Saladang was at its peak in the early 2000's, I remember each dine in experience was exquisite. I haven't been since 2007 so I'm not sure how the restaurant has changed since. Hopefully it has stayed close to what it was... I remember they had incredible dishes that were layered with so much delicate flavors. Everything was presented beautifully and so elevated. Would love to go back. I think I'm due for another visit.

Yelp
I am very upset of this place because of 1. Very bad services and rude servers. 2. Servers don't wear masks. 3. Servers come in to interrupt customer's conversations. Servers here are very impolite. One of them comes to interrupt my conversations with friends at the table. The server told me it's my fault not being careful to look at the menu for the extra charge of the sauce. Their mission is not to provide the best experience to customers. Instead, they are very proud of charging every single penny from customers. When I tell them that their attitude and disruption of our conversations made me upset. They told me they provide the best quality of services because they fill our water.

Yelp
- Locale Destination - It's on S fair oaks Ave and Waverly Dr in Pasadena. Ambiance: casual like next door but outside seating available. Menu: more casual than next door. Service: quick Parking: plenty in the back - Gluttony Expedition - Crab cake: overcooked but tasted ok. Catfish: good Basil & egg plant: good but nothing special. Yellow curry: good. Vegetables were undercooked. - Conqueror's Deduction - We are quite frequent at Saladang next door and wanted to try here. Saladang (next door) quality isn't here. Cooking quality isn't as good as Saladang (everything seemed to be undercooked or overcooked here). Menu is much more casual than Saladang. I'll stick to Saladang. We'll go to the next door, not here.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite Thai restaurant! Excellent and authentic food, to go along with great service and a nice ambiance. I can't quit you Saladang. My go to's: Pork Jerky Beef Salad Saladang Pad Thai Drunken Noodles

Leslie G.

Yelp
Fast and courteous service. Pleasant indoor dining. The best Thai restaurant in the area.

Yelp
It had been a long time since I ate here, when it was still Saladang Song. We ordered takeout. Food was ready as promised. I order Khao Soi whenever it's available on the menu, & this is no exception. I found the Khao Soi here to be slightly on the oily side. The curry flavor was lighter than I am used to, but still good flavor. You don't get to choose the protein though. It comes with chicken. Hubby tried the Moo Ping (Grilled Pork Skewers). I enjoyed it, but Hubby preferred else where. You get 4 skewers, decent sized. 3.5 stars overall. You can park at their parking lot, but their sister restaurant next door uses the same lot.

Gerald K.

Yelp
Thai "street food" set in an architectural marvel. Always friendly staff. The soaring windows and outside plants are unique. Modestly priced parking lot on the side between its sister restaurant.
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
Another place that allowed my dog, always a plus. Crab cheese wontons were on the sweet side but crunchy and good. The pad Thai was very very sweet and I had to drench it with the spicy fish sauce. The catfish was deep fried but not seasoned and sauce was on the side. Wasn't a fan of this and this is the first place that serves it like this, I'm just used to it being cooked in the spicy sauce. Disappointed that I asked for medium spice and it was still sweet. Basil and chili stir fry with pork belly was also very sweet. I brought most of the food home and re-seasoned it with chilis and garlic before eating. The Thai tea was good. If you like food on the sweeter side, this is the place. I just prefer something savory or spicy. Outside seating was nice and the service was good. They were very nice!
