Egyptian Street Snacks Rule at This Underground Reseda Pop-Up | Eater LA

"Outside Salam Lounge in Koreatown, I see him keep a semi-regular schedule where other young Arab kids go to smoke hookah and hang out; he routinely shows up to hand out hawawshi and feteer—sometimes 40 orders at a time—trading stories with Egyptian Uber and cab drivers and drawing a homesick crowd back to familiar Cairo street flavors." - Farley Elliott

Fun and inexpensive. Salam hookah is open late( until 5 am) which is very hard to find in LA. Salam’s is my go to after any of my outings. Parking is easy and the service is fantastic. Real genuine vibes and people. this is the place to be :)

My friends and I went to this place last Sunday because we wanted to go to a place where we could enjoy and bring our own drinks, when we arrived at this place the person at the entrance told us they can bring the drinks but they can't even open them, to which we responded with an ok, we paid 165 dollars for 3 person for a hookah and a two hour refill. We entered the place everything was great until a person from the bar comes and says oh I'm sorry but can you keep these bottles here because if the boss comes he can scold us, he asked us if we had a car to store them there but we answered no to which he offered and said I will keep them in my car. When we were leaving I told the same person who took it to give me back the drinks to him. He replied, "Oh, the person who had the cart left, nothing can be done because we fired him." I replied, "Come on, ask why he didn't ask me anything." He told me that it was not his responsibility. Then I went to the person at the entrance where the person was very angry and told me that if you want to go look for it in the trash because they throw that stuff away. How do you tell a customer that you are responsible for something and then play the victim and back it up because those are the rules of the place? Be honest with people and be polite.

First night in LA. Told the guy that our group of 4 girls just want 1 shisha/hookah. The guy tried to take advantage and told us we need to spend a minimum of $100USD for our group. In Toronto, Canada we spend $25 MAX for a shisha, and thats for premium flavours. This is a place that scams people. Even as a tourist, I can tell. They were empty, no customers, not even located in West Hollywood and they still had the nerve to try and scam us with that pricing.

Terrible Experience – Feels Like a Scam I had an awful experience at this place. First of all, the energy there felt off from the moment I walked in. They asked me where I was from and gave me weird looks when I told them, which immediately made me uncomfortable. I ordered a Coke and a hookah, and they charged me nearly $700! I didn’t realize it until I got home and checked my app. When I called to ask about the charge, they were rude and dismissive, telling me they didn’t care and couldn’t give me any answers. They even claimed they didn’t remember me being there — seriously?! The whole place feels shady and unsafe, like they just make up their own rules. I was only there for about 20 minutes, and they robbed me for $700. This place needs to be shut down. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from this scam.

Craving shisha on Christmas and being able to find a place that was open with decent shisha, tea and a cozy environment made us happy. The owner/staff was also lovely. The venue has some games like snakes and ladders, ludo and cards so you can play and enjoy your time there.

Google
First time coming here (visiting from Houston) and the hookah did not disappoint! The service was excellent and Mohammed was very attentive. Very affordable and close to downtown LA. Music was great, they play hip hop and Latin music. The crowd is mixed and they're open until 6AM. (After 2AM they offer bottle service)

Google
This place is a hidden gem! The hookah flavors are top-notch, especially the mint and watermelon mix. The music is chill, creating a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for unwinding. The service was attentive without being intrusive. I’ll definitely be back!

This the best hookah lounge every yall must come here

Yelp
The owner was extremely disrespectful before we even entered the venue. I came with a group of 4 people and he said they had to order hookah and 4 drinks or we had to wait if we only wanted hookah. We were okay waiting for the hookah until I told the owner that nobody in the group was drinking to which he responded "You don't talk" am I not allowed to speak? I wasn't rude I simply wanted to let him know nobody was drinking. He was super aggressive maybe coked out? Anyways don't come here, they have 2.5 stars for a reason.

Yelp
If I could give this place more than five stars I would. Always a great time and the staff are amazing! Always taking care of whatever you need when your having a good time! Shout out to Luis he did his thing with the hookah and gave the best hospitality! Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
If you're searching for an exceptional hookah experience, look no further--this place sets the standard. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted not just with warm lighting and a relaxed atmosphere, but by a team that truly understands what customer service should feel like. What really separates this lounge from the rest is the incredible service. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, always just a glance away and quick to refresh coals or check in to make sure everything is perfect. You can tell they take real pride in what they do. Orders come quickly, the hookahs are prepared to perfection, and every detail--from flavor recommendations to making sure your seating is comfortable--is handled with care. Whether you're a regular or a first-time guest, you're treated with the same VIP-level attention. The staff here isn't just friendly--they're passionate. They know their flavors, they understand how to mix for the perfect pull, and they genuinely want you to enjoy your time. No question is too small, and they're happy to explain or customize your session. You're not just another customer here--you're a guest. There's no rushed vibe, no cutting corners, just pure hospitality. What really elevates the vibe here is the presence of the owner. You can feel it in the culture of the place--someone who cares deeply has built something special. The owner is often around, chatting with guests, checking on service, and making sure the energy of the lounge stays top-tier. It's rare to find a business where leadership is so clearly involved in the day-to-day experience, and it makes all the difference. It's not just a hookah lounge--it feels like a home away from home, curated by someone who gets it. Add in smooth music, cozy seating, clean interiors, and beautifully presented hookahs, and you've got a place that doesn't just serve you--it hosts you. Whether you're unwinding after a long day, celebrating with friends, or just enjoying a quiet solo smoke, this lounge is the kind of place you'll keep coming back to. It's rare to find a hookah lounge that balances ambiance, flavor quality, and outstanding service so flawlessly. This isn't just a place to smoke--it's a place to connect, relax, and be treated like someone who matters. Highly recommend. 10/10 experience every time.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Chill vibes and DJ went hard. Met lots of cool people and danced all night. Got introduced to a new hookah flavor I never tried (sorry i forgot the name) Will be back soon !!!

Yelp
Saturday night pulled in nobody was in then we ordered a ice based hookah and got a regular one with plastic hose all weak bad service nothing to drink but juice and soda all overall experience was poor and price expensive

Yelp
This place is great and Jordan is the BEST! He was so kind and helpful Ask for him when you come visit (:

Yelp
Came there with friends around two weeks ago. Friends are Russian speaking. Right away the owner told we can't go inside because we are loud. One of us, as I find out later, gave the bouncer $40 to get us in. We ordered 2 hookahs and coke. Bill was $118. We have been asked to pay right away and we did. 10 min later they said we must go because we were loud. WTF I gotta say. Of course we started arguing with them. The girl at the door, whatever her name was, screamed so loud. Pathetic. Place is at the lowest level. Worst hookah I've ever been, at least from customer service perspective. Definitely overpriced. So my advice, stay away from!!!

Yelp
This place is horrible don't come here you will regret waisting your time here very unprofessional the man in charge is disrespectful there's no addressing issues they love to overcharge for the littlest things also charge whatever price the decide per person to come in this place needs to be shutdown

Yelp
Great vibes, people, and menu selection. Would recommend. I will be returning, don't be fooled by the exterior, the interior is a vibe.

Yelp
I went with 2 friends Sunday night July 7th 2024. We had ordered 1 hookah & a beer & 2cups of water. It was supposed to be ~$75 + tax & fees and I see a charge of $204.58 that I didn't authorize.

Isaac P.

Yelp
ASK FOR BOSH ! The best costumer service and atmosphere around I will recommend to anyone as it's a great late night spot, opened late. The music is great and the vibe is better.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It had potential to be a cool place to go after hours but it's so sketch and overpriced. They charged us $40 just to get in AND then charged us over so much for hookah. It was shocking but my friends and I paid anyway. After paying for the hookah, they brought us our hookah without water and when we pointed it out they made us feel dumb... For the price of we paid, the least this place could do is get the basic hookah prep correct. It was bad hookah. Now the crowd is something. I have no words other than be careful. It attracts a weird crowd with no understanding of social boundaries. I love getting to know new people but no part of me felt comfortable talking to anyone here. Belligerent drunks. To top it off, please please get a DJ that doesn't say the n word. He was not black and this place needs to do better. That immediately killed the vibe for my friends and I. So unprofessional and just wrong. If you're in the mood to go to a pricey mess of an establishment, go here. Otherwise, avoid by all means.

Yelp
Highly advise against this place! 100% don't recommend. After paying and entering, I was rudely approached by the owner. I'll leave it at that as the conversation was not positive. As a business owner of an establishment, I would expect a more professional interaction. I suggest finding a better place!

Yelp
Worst place I've ever been to or done business with historically here in LA. I'm legitimately from here born and raised in Los Angeles, and I've never felt more ripped off in my life by my own neighbors. You should legitimately line it up with anyone who invites you here. They are not only setting you up to get robbed but also profiting on screwing you over on the backend.

Yelp
This is the best after hours hookah spot to go to for hookah & chill vibes atmosphere. check it out when you get the chance. Five Stars on both Hookah Service & Ambience.

Yelp
Owner or manager is nasty, doesn't conduct business in a professional or respectful manner. he came to the door cursing and saying "who tf are you"

Bobby G.

Yelp
To start, they had no menu, so there are no prices labeled that you could order from. When we ordered the hookah, they were out of a lot of the flavors so we ultimately just smoked something that was generic in flavor, nothing worth talking about. You can get better hookah anywhere else. When the bill came out, she charged us a total of $82. For one hookah, two waters. $82. Insane! You can get cheaper hookah in Dubai. The breakdown was: hookah $45 water $5 each So where does the rest come from? We asked for a receipt and she said she couldn't get us a receipt. She said the rest of the amount was tax. A 27-dollar tax for a 82 dollar total bill???? Later when we get home, we see that more charges were added and the total came out to 95 dollars!! Thankfully we were able to obtain an electronic receipt. The breakdown of the additional charges: gratuity 18% SERVICE CHARGE FEE 20% Tip $13 They added 3 different types of tips without our consent. Absolute fraud. These people are running a scam. Save yourself, and DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE NO MATTER WHAT. IT IS A SCAM AND THESE PEOPLE ARE FRAUDS.

Yelp
I went this nice hookah lounge that my friends recommended and its by far the best I've ever been to. Great atmosphere and great service. I hi recommend this place!!!!

Yelp
I was hoping for a good experience but have to give this place 2/5 stars. They didn't provide a menu so there was no transparency with their prices. The first time I came here they charged $35 for a hookah, the second time just a couple weeks later they charged $45. I brought this up and the host said he would add an ice base, wouldn't charge any service fee, etc which didn't happen once I paid the bill and someone different helped process my payment. They also charge a 20% service fee automatically. Very overpriced for what you get in my opinion. The tables and chairs could use some cleaning up as well.

Robert R.

Yelp
Avoid this place. They will overcharge you. We were told that it was $60 for 2 people and it included a hookah, but guy was charging almost $90 on the system. Then we ordered beer, that took over an hour to get, and then saw the guy walk in with a 24 pack. Served us the modelos in styrofoam cups(not even cold) and charged $80+ for 4 beers. When I checked my account he also gave himself a 20% tip.

Yelp
It's always a fun environment to come and just chill. I got the hookah topped with cbd and it was a fun night. I came on a Friday and the belly dancers and waitresses are all super sweet. Definitely recommend.

Shay M.

Yelp
First & the last time . The fact one of the workers broke down the BATHROOM door while people are using the bathroom was unprofessional & unacceptable! No way the employee should even be that drunk to do that. That's insane for it to even be an excuse. Everything was trash ... overpriced for cheap nasty drinks.. save your self the time and go else where . Not worth it . & just fyi we only came here as a last resort....

Aminata K.

Yelp
Great service very helpful im very picky about hookah but they made sure I enjoyed late night spot hookah chill vibes

Ashraf D.

Yelp
Small spot in a plaza off the main road where I felt the most nostalgic piece I've felt in all LA. A touch of Home with Palestinian/Jordanian vibes that any Arab would feel welcome in. Of course all are welcome, but this made my heart so warm after being away from the 'balad' for so long.

Rae A.

Yelp
I was excited to support a small local business. I have been to several hookah lounges throughout California, and it is one's like these that leave me feeling icky and take advantage of. No menus, additional service fee without consent, no ice base when promised, flavors are weak, and favoritism toward very specific groups of people. Good luck and may peace be with you. I do not recommend.

Tim H.

Yelp
Had high hopes to get in but unfortunately the management is not professional at all. Save your money and time find somewhere else. Trust me

Isabelle J.

Yelp
Super expensive, $75 a tower??? No transparency in the pricing, we're not even sure what we paid for. Both flavors we tried barely tasted like anything. Also, they charge a cover just for going in... but it seemed like only to people they don't already know. Also, they only take apple pay or cash and don't advise that in the beginning.

Ekaterina G.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance ! The entire staff looks out for you and makes sure everyone has a good time . The hookah is smooth , drinks strong ! My new go to spot !!

Phill C.

Yelp
Came here with friends after work, would not recommend, bad service and couple coworkers felt like theyre being discriminated against. Our bill was much higher then expected and didn't make sense. Avoid at all costs!

Bliss I.

Yelp
the worst service i have ever ever experienced me and my friends came to this place after a friend invited us inside the owner and denied us from entry because we was black and literally told us we had no money to get in as soon as we walked up. Then proceeds to say if i let ya in i know you not gonna spend money. How as a owner do treat ppl this way it was rude and absolutely racist and this man has no idea who anyone was or what they could afford we wouldnt have came if we couldn't not. His own enp was saying he's crazy and they are sorry for how he's acting i have never experienced someone denying service because of out race As a African American do not go to this place you will be profile. Would give 0 stars if I could

Timothy K.

Yelp
Most authentic middle eastern lounge in LA with a very welcoming environment.

Julien S.

Yelp
Good vibes until they want to make money from you. Got kicked out just because I wouldn't buy their overpriced drinks and suddenly even after paying a $25 entrance fee EACH, we have only a 90 minute limit. Hookah bars are supposed to be places that you chill with friends, and the vibes were good for it until they kick you out if you don't buy additional stuff. Didn't even plan to spend 5 hours there, just wanted a place to hang at. Owner didn't even want to hear me out when I wanted to explain how I'm not rich enough to keep buying a bunch of overpriced things. Service was okay I guess, but no menu and no real knowledge of what anything there costs. I won't be going back as I literally was made to feel freaking poor. Me and my partner went, spent $50 on entrance and hookah was $58 and even with the whole experience being over $100, there was no consideration to allow us enjoy the experience. People kept coming up to us asking if we wanted to buy additional services and we were only interested in the hookah so I guess that's not good enough. Awful place, awful experience, only go if you have money to just blow away into thin air.
