We had such a great time picking strawberries for the first time with our child! 🍓 The strawberries were huge, super sweet, and way better than the ones from the grocery store. The owner was very friendly, and the prices were fair. 🧑‍🌾 We grabbed a bottle of their pure honey before we left—delicious! 🍯 So glad this farm is close by. Super convenient and such a fun experience. We’ll definitely be coming back! ⭐

Great picking (may 8 2025) 2 types strawberries, Chandler & Ruby red. Neat, well kept rows. $4.19 /lb. Nice staff. Bring your own containers and have them weigh before you pick. They have baskets available, too. Pre-picked available. Have products from Flanagan farm... jams, dressings, honey, etc. Check facebook for hours and current info.

Absolutely incredible place to pick strawberries! The owners are so friendly, and the strawberries are so so so good. You can bring your own bucket to pick with as well. I love how close it is so I don't have to drive all the way to Pungo. I definitely recommend coming here for fresh strawberries for sure!!

Google
We've gone strawberry picking here for the past two years and each year we've had no complaints. There's a lot of strawberries to pick and they taste great! The staff are also nice and they have honey, jams, and salad dressings for sale too. I would definitely recommend trying the jams and honey!

Google
I love this place. It’s the perfect spot and they have the best strawberries. They post on their FB page their hours based on weather or any updates. Always check that before going in! It’s one worker manning the register and trying to get pre picked strawberries ready so give them a break. The one star reviews one here are unfair! Definitely stop by and support them. They’re worth it! 🤍

My family and I have been picking strawberries at Salem Berry Farm for the past 5 years. This little neighborhood farm never disappoints. We find the best strawberries here. The price is so affordable. I don't recall if they started nothing this in 2021 but they do not weigh the basket. They charge per the size of the basket. We even get really nice pictures here with the trees in the background. I really do love this field out of all the fields I have been to in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. Here are some pictures of my over the past few years of picking here. For logistics. Parking is easy, you turn right on the farm and park in front of the field. You can see it from the road. There is one little red hut right when you enter. That is where you will pay for your baskets and strawberries. They are active on their Facebook page so they will post when their fields are open or closed. Have fun picking!

Google
Very nice right-sized patch of field to pick strawberries! Very conveniently located near Kempsville and Chesapeake radius. Had my daughter's best friend visit for the weekend. We were at a Farmers market when she said she's sad she missed strawberry picking season. I said what!!!!??? Maybe where Northern Virginians have few and very very far away farms to go to! Berries were plentiful, staff is friendly. Strawberries were of good size!

Google
Unfortunately it is by new construction, such an eye soar. It had a lot of trampled fruit, and weeds. It was actually pretty amazing for its location and the great tasting berries. Also, dut to being a fresh food establishment and hence, essential it was a great get out of the house tool. Would have been better with a petting zoo or animal feeding option. I support local small business though.

Yelp
I really wanted to go strawberry picking in VB, but I didn't want to drive all the way to Pungo. So happy I found this farm! As of 5/3/25, the strawberries are $4.19/lb. You can buy a bucket if you want for $1. They have Ruby Junes and Chandlers strawberries. The strawberries were delicious overall, but some were sweeter than others, even though I picked ones that looked the same (a deep red). That might have just been my fault though for not tasting from each row to find the best spots. Also wanted to note that this field is strictly for strawberry picking. Unlike other farms, there aren't any other activities like petting zoos or play areas. But if you're just looking for a spot to pick fresh strawberries, then this is a solid choice. Recommend checking their Facebook page for their hours!

Yelp
I didn't know this farm existed until a friend recommended them. Very friendly. The berries wet in different stages of ripening. They were some of the sweetest berries I gave had in the longest time. It is close to the Amphitheater and relatively small, which makes it very family friendly. It is very easy to get to. There isn't a lot of parking, so I would get there early.

Yelp
Salem Berry Farm is located in the Salem neighborhood. This farm is seasonal, so please check the opening times. It's very family friendly. The day I went was when it wasn't hot. That's why it was a bit crowded. They also sell jams there.

Yelp
When you're begging to go strawberry picking & the day finally arrives! Love this location (about ten minutes from town center) for a quick picking and it is immediately on the side of the road. Not much hospitality from the employee, but we already knew what we were coming there to do. $8 for a small bucket & $15 for the one pictured. That was it! You were free to pick. About 15+ rows. Would suggest rain boots if you visit after a storm towards the end of the rows. Much fun and picked a lot of cute strawberries. They also have so products for sale at the stand like jams + a couple other goodies. (600th review!)

Yelp
Did I die and go to strawberry picking heaven?! Because that's how I felt today! I have never had such a good strawberry picking experience and I don't think we will for the rest of my life. (Not too hot, no mud!) We showed up Friday at 4pm (they're open until 8am-6pm). There were sooo many strawberries and they were all perfectly ripe! We had no problem filling our 4 quart bucket within 45 minutes (with a 3 year old doing most of the work). I'm guessing the result would've been different at the end of the weekend though. Location is only 20 minutes from VA Beach. Actually it's randomly next to a new apartment complex so not rural at all. It's not a huge field (about 40 rows), but it was more than enough strawberries for us and for social distancing. Pricing: $9 for a 2 quart bucket (3 pounds), $16 for a 4 quart bucket (6 pounds). Save a dollar if you bring your bucket from last year. Bottom line: The kids had a blast and we might be back next weekend too!

Yelp
Truly a "little slice of heaven" this is a smaller patched area but they are packed full of berries! This was such a great activity to do with the kids on a random day! The white basket was about $15 but again you get to fill it up. We came pretty late but they let us stay truly until they simply HAD to leave which was so nice. It's a cute family owned area that I am so excited to revisit. The washing process of course was in depth but they were so great on pancakes the next morning.

Yelp
Great lil patch of strawberries! Had a wonderful time. Georgie is super sweet and very kind, very down to earth. Only a short drive from Kempsville area. Definitely recommend. Looking forward to the honey too.

Yelp
We have lived in Virginia Beach for almost 6 years and have seen this berry farm for the past 5. Every year we kept saying we would go...well today we finally went! The best part about this place is its location. It is a stones throw from the Virginia Beach Amphitheater. The farm/berry patch is small but packed full of plants. The day we went the price was $1.85/lb. If you bring your own berry basket make sure you have it weighed before you go picking. If you don't have any baskets no sweat...they have some on site. https://www.facebook.com/SalemBerryFarm Open daily 8am - 6pm weather permitting

Yelp
I've picked here 2-3 years. It is a fun experience. Ideal family fun activity or just chill with a friend. The berries I picked were always awesome. I always bring back the large basket that I purchased here the first time I picked (this way they don't need to weigh my basket before I pick). I'm a eager picker. For some reason I'm convinced I need to fill the entire basket up and even balance a few in the overflowing mound on top. Tip 1 Unless you are canning or making a dozen pies, I recommend bringing your own shallow basket so that the berries are more spread out. This way they will be less likely to be crushed/bruised from the weight of other berries in a taller container. Tip 2 Pick your own berries. This is the first time I purchased pre-picked berries. They cost more. Flat price of $5 for a quart. Unfortunately based on my experience I would not recommend it. The quality wasn't great. Not so pretty. I LOVE STRAWBERRIES!!!!! Especially chocolate covered. Serve them and I will come to your party! Support local businesses!

Yelp
This place is great to go strawberry picking. The price is pretty reasonable too. I paid $5.93 for a bucket of strawberries, which is not too bad. This is my second time strawberry picking here and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Just 16 min from home still in city limits. small farm but lots of berries. friendly and a great location! 4 star instead of 5, only because they don't take credit / bank cards. all in all great time picking with grand kids!

Yelp
Berries weren't really sweet and we came during Mother's day weekend. Perhaps the berries could have waited another week. Price was good, near my house, and friendly attendant!

Yelp
Such a great location. Right down the street from me. Great quality berries, wonderful owners, and no need to drive several miles into the country.

Yelp
I've been to many berry u-pick farms, and this one was the best! Wonderful staff, beyond easy access!!!
