Once or twice a year I go up to Minnesota to visit with family and keep in touch with everyone. This year, my parents decided to watch my daughter for the day, giving me and my lady a day to go out and enjoy ourselves kid free. Wine is not my thing, but my lady really enjoys it. So decided to check out the local winerys. First stop was Salem Glen. I had read the website and saw they were open, googled directions. It was a little bit off the beaten trail, and when we got there, it didn't seem like they were open. I walked around a little bit, then left. I called them from a few miles down the road, and they said they were open. So we went back. The Vineyard and Shop are both located on what is an old farmstead. Its a nice relaxing atmosphere. The owner was running around doing some chores, and his mother was tending the shop. She was very helpful and very proud of her sons business. We did the normal tasting, then decided to buy 2 bottles. Brianna and Marquette Rose. The wines tasted good, the service was friendly. The only knocks I had, was that it was a bit off the beaten trail and sort of hard to find. Secondly, we were the only ones there at the time and wine tasting is sort of a nice social opportunity. Since nobody else was there, it was a little bit weird/odd sitting in the tasting room with nobody else other than our host. But if you enjoy wine, and want to go for a nice drive and enjoy the scenery, take a trip out to Salem Glen, you should enjoy it.
