Chop Suey Sandwich Icon Salem Lowe Closes in August 2022 - Eater Boston

"Loaded with savory, saucy bean sprouts and barely contained by a modest hamburger bun, the chop suey sandwich at the Salem Lowe restaurant is a micro-regional curiosity and a North Shore icon. Locals and visitors to Salem, Massachusetts, have been enjoying this summertime staple for decades, dispensed from a modest takeout window located in scenic Salem Willows park." - Luke Pyenson

4 Best Day Trips From Boston to Salem, Newburyport, and Provincetown | Condé Nast Traveler

"Just a short stroll from downtown, Salem Willows has been one of Salem's most beloved spots since the town's Colonial days. Today it's the perfect way to kill an hour or two—the small park is packed with plenty to do. You can grab a snack at one of the restaurants along the southern edge, ride the carousel, or play a round of skeeball with the kids (or a fun-loving date) at the arcade. Do as the locals do: grab a bag of fudge from E.H. Hobb's candy shop, located on the park's eastern edge; snag a bench overlooking the water; and watch the sunset before heading to dinner." - Todd Plummer

It's winter, all the facilities are closed, so are the businesses. All that remains are the memories of summer nights with friends now gone. The Willows in winter still provides walking trails and gorgeous views of Salem waterfront. The fishing pier is beautifully restored and open to walk or fish. The famous Willow trees look like ghosts in the winter. There is some construction going on with a section of the park fenced off. Parking is free in the winter. Salem Willows a hidden winter gem.

Great place to walk around. Has bathrooms and nice places to grab ice cream and snacks.

A blast from my past, but it would be nice to see restorations happen faster and bring back certain entertainment to restore vibrancy to the area. Most of the food is of poor quality. I only went for the salt water taffy ( peanut butter flavor) is a family favorite. I bought 2 large boxes and it was worth every cent to watch my father enjoy the iconic taste. He has Alzheimer's but he remembers Taffy..... A testament to it's importance for him

Salem Willows will always be my happy place!! This park has a very important place in my families heart. I just wish they would take better care of the park as well as the strip of amusements and restaurants. Over the years it has started to look more of a ghost town than the amazing park I used to know and love. They really need to give this park a face lift and take care of it!!!

Took my 6 1/2 year old for a girl date. We played arcade games ( some of the games had malfunctioning), had lunch, and ice cream.. rode the merry go round, she rode the boats and car rides, we walked the new pier which she loved, and looked out at the ocean. Great place

Salem Willows, if you live in Eastern MA, you this place. Great food options and old school arcades, mini golf, ice cream take out and popcorn. Grab a meal and sit on a blanket or bench overlooking the Atlantic. A must go to place.

This place is so fun, for all ages. My kiddos loved it, and there were a lot of arcades and ticket games for all of us to play. There is a small pizzeria, between the two sections of the arcade, with other sides like fries, onion rings, and funnel cake bites, which were also rather good. Almost all of the games dispense tickets that you can redeem for prizes, at one of the desks/kiosks. The arcade is right next to a small park, and access to the beach/water, so it is a nice view from the fun. There is public, street parking right outside the arcade, which makes accessing the arcade very easy. We will definitely try to come back again.

Nice park located on a peninsula in Salem. We visited on a very hot day, but the breeze off the water made it comfortable for walking around. There’s a classic clam shack and plenty of ice cream shops, but what really surprised me were the arcades and the carousel. It was like a little New Jersey boardwalk. We spoke with a vendor who said the carousel has been there for over 70 years. It’s clear the town is investing in the area to make it more enjoyable for visitors.
