I didn’t have high hope because most shaved ice places don’t have the right texture but this place had both texture and flavor. Soft pillowy snowy shaved ice with refreshing fruit flavors like guava and passion fruit and rich deep flavors that included Thai tea and pandan. Adding this to my must go to list. Reasonably priced too, which is rare these days. 5+ stars!!

I came here many years ago with my friends and it’s filled with happy memories, their desserts are delicious and ONE OF A KIND!! The snow ice has a great texture and they let u have two included toppings! Every time I come, they fully load your cup. Even if you order a small size. You won’t find a more delicious snow ice dessert than here!

This ice cream place is good, every time I and my wife will come here for ice cream after eating at boathouse. We like the most is green tea matcha and coconut ice creams, if order a small ice cream is good for 2 person, if order medium size is a little too much for 2 person, this place is very relaxing, and the place is very clean.

This is the newest place for shaved ice. It was good. Employees are very nice a polite. This is very clean and they have enough parking spaces. I will definitely coming back for different flavors.

Having visited this establishment for the first time, I found the desserts to be exceptionally well-prepared. The staff demonstrated commendable patience and courtesy while assisting with menu inquiries. The interior, though somewhat compact with approximately eight tables, created a lively atmosphere. Potential patrons should be aware that seating may be limited during peak hours. While outdoor seating was available, the prevailing weather conditions prompted us to wait for an indoor table. In summary, the experience was positive, and the portion sizes were notably generous.

So many flavors to choose from! Love that they have so many options, but my favorite is the Thai tea with mochi, strawberries, and condensed milk.

Very nice customer service. The employee was very kind and accommodating. I got the medium with two flavors and they loaded it up. Very nice size for an affordable price! The flavor was very refreshing and there were a lot of toppings.

We ordered a medium bowl to try out, sadly the portion was so tiny like a small bowl. Toppings were also very limited. Good thing we enjoyed the snow ice, and service was friendly

Salju's shaved ice has a nice texture that is similar Hawaiian shave ice. It's good and doesn't disappoint. With multiple flavors and toppings (jackfruit!!), there is a combination for everyone. They also do crepe, which goes well with the shaved ice, but maybe a bit underwhelming? Small store with just enough seats where it's comfortable, but you'll be in close proximity to other patrons. Limited parking in a shared private lot. Service is more akin to machine ordering and someone will make it and call out your order once it's ready. Salju is a worth while visit.

We came in on a rainy day and were shocked by how many people were here! It's a unique place as they don't have "pre-made options" of the best of the best etc. so it does take a little longer to order with all their choices. But I think that's what makes it fun-- all their choices! We got mediums to share between two people and it was a lot! Both of our orders were fruity. We loved the flavors (mango and lychee). Our toppings were boba, rice balls, mochi, mango and lychee jelly. So so good. We wish this place was bigger to hold more people.

I love shaved ice. It is one of my favorite desserts! We came here after lunch on a Monday. Not too busy. We customized our own. Small - strawberry with strawberries and chocolate chips with condensed milk. Very delicious and perfect for sharing among the 3 of us. I did have a stomachache right when we got back to the hotel. Which was disappointing.

Omg the crepe here changed my life!! I love crepe and this was my first time trying a crispy crepe. It was amazing! Like a wafer and a pancake had a baby. We originally came for bingsoo, which was also very yummy! Soft and fluffy shaved ice. We got the milk flavor that came with 3 toppings. The service was quick and the place was packed with people, but plenty of space because the people would come and go.

Was craving some shaved ice after eating KBBQ and was in the area, so I came here with my brother for a quick dessert stop. When we entered, the employee happily greeted us. Interior is small but cute, and there are a couple of tables to sit at! We ordered on the self-kiosk and got a small Thai tea snow with mochi, taro pudding, and condensed milk. Our order came out quickly. My brother and I enjoyed it! The Thai tea flavor was prominent, and the sweetness level was perfect. I liked the toppings we got, especially the mochi, and thought it paired perfectly with the thai tea snow. I do think it is a bit pricey ($9.40 including tax), but you do get a decent portion of shaved ice. Overall, a nice, refreshing treat to try if you're in the area!

Checked this spot out with my partner after dinner nearby, and I was pretty intrigued by their unique style of dessert. There's a small free parking lot that's shared but street parking is also accessible. Plenty of tables inside and a few outside but most definitely this spot gets packed especially during the evening. You can either order on the self ordering kiosk or with the cashier. Ordering could get a bit hectic as there's just plentiful of options to choose for your dessert. Ultimately, we chose a medium snow to share, original milk snow flavor, 3 toppings of strawberries, mangoes, and mochi, along with condensed milk as the syrup. Order didn't take too long to come out, presentation is as you would expect, very cute and most definitely social media worthy. The toppings we chose mixed pretty well with the "snow." The toppings were all fresh but the only complaint we had was that we thought there should be a bit more toppings added for the amount of snow given. You would find yourself eating just the snow flakes since the toppings weren't sufficient. Despite that, very delicious and definitely recommended to drop Salju Dessert a visit.

Super popular place that's actually worth all the hype; delicious flavor combinations all over their menu! Staff here are friendly, fast, and genuinely nice caring people!

If I could go to this place everyday for the rest of my life I would. We were visiting from out of town and looking for a late night treat and found this place and I am so glad we did. It was incredibly busy (a good sign) however they got us our dessert very quickly and had a way to put in an order on a kiosk. The space it on the smaller side however everyone seemed to be able to have a seat that ordered. This dessert was SO GOOD. Perfect mix of flavorful and sweet. I have never had anything like it and truly would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sweet treat. You could also customize if you are feeling adventurous! Couldn't recommend this place enough, GO TRY IT!

Friends with allergies, please beware :( I've been coming to salju for years, but my last two visits have ended in a scary allergic reaction. I thought it was something else the first time but now I've realized it's because they started offering banana flavored shave ice and I'm allergic. They've always offered banana as a topping, but because the same shaver is used between flavors, there is cross contamination. I'm really disappointed because salju is one of my favorite spots and their ice is so soft and fluffy! Unfortunately, for my safety I will no longer be able to come here. Please be alert. I developed this allergy in recent years so this can happen to anyone :(

I used to come here a lot for their shaved snow but haven't been visiting for a while until tonight. We were craving for some shaved snow and we were close by. Not sure if we came early or business isn't as good, but I remember this place being packed before. We ordered a small mango shaved snow with mango pieces and mochi as well as a strawberry, banana, Nutella crepe. They are so generous with their portion! Good thing we ordered a small shaved snow since it was pretty big and we actually didn't finish it because we were pretty full from dinner. The mango flavor did not taste artificial at all and was very refreshing. The crepe surprised me the most. It was my first time ordering a crepe and it was so crispy! Hubby loved the amount of whipped cream they gave.

It's been a while since my last visit to Salju due to my busy schedule, but after my most recent experience, I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. I've always loved Salju. The shaved ice has the perfect soft texture, and the toppings really complete it, you truly can't find anything quite like it in the area. That's what makes this experience so disappointing. The customer service was terrible. There was no acknowledgment when we walked in, and the staff seemed more focused on personal conversations than on customers. I guess it's true what they say about these Gen Z's. They don't give a f*. At one point, they were openly talking about personal life, and it was hard not to hear. Yes, girl. I heard you met your guy 3 weeks ago from a friend. When our order came out wrong and my friend tried to ask a question, she stood there waiting to be acknowledged while the conversation continued. On top of that, the mango topping was rotten. I'm assuming it went unnoticed because the staff was too busy chatting instead of paying attention. Overall, between the lack of customer service and the quality issues, this visit was a huge letdown. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Salju Dessert is definitely a popular spot, there's usually a line, but it moves pretty fast! I tried their snow ice, which was okay, not overly sweet but still refreshing. What really stood out was the crepe -- super crispy, light, and perfectly paired with the whipped cream. The shop has a fun, casual vibe, and you can tell it's a local favorite for late-night dessert runs. Even though the snow ice wasn't my top pick, the crepe alone makes it worth a visit.

What We Ordered: -Build Your Own Snow Ice (S) $8.50 My wife and I were craving something sweet late one night after putting our son to sleep. My mother-in-law watched our sleeping son while we finally got out of the house. I had heard they offered Vietnamese Coffee flavored shaved ice and knew I had to try it. Silly me! I shouldn't have gotten it at 9:30 PM with work in the morning, but it was delightful, and I would definitely order it again, perhaps during the day next time. I asked for topping recommendations, and the staff member provided excellent customer service, suggesting options that would complement the Vietnamese Coffee flavor. For a small shaved ice ($8.50), you select your ice flavor, two toppings, and your syrup. It's fully customizable, and you can add extra toppings for an additional cost. I don't remember what my wife ordered, but she loved it and asked why we hadn't been here sooner. We will definitely be back and hope to bring our son sometime to see if he likes it too!

Salju is a must for us whenever we are within 30-40 minutes from it. They serve some of the best Taiwanese shaved ice (bao bing) we've enjoyed anywhere. Our favorite flavors are Vietnamese Coffee and Nutella. Their Vietnamese Coffee bao bing is heavenly -- the best of the best -- and we shared a medium (think "large") on our most recent visit. Parking is limited to a small shared lot in front of the shop and neighborhood streets. They take credit cards without a minimum. Oh ... you can order with or without toppings. The latter costs about $1.50 less. Service is always friendly.

Drove from Bell Gardens and it was worth the drive! 10/10 from the ice to the fruit everything was tasty!

I love black sesame so that was the driving force to try this place and it did not disappoint!!!!! It was light and not too sweet which is the perfect blend for the mochi and strawberry topping I got! Definitely going to stop there again

"Late night spot" that gets busy at night, be prepared to wait 15+ minutes for your order as it easily gets packed quickly especially during the hotter days. They have multiple kiosks for credit card payments, but there is always a line! Seating is available but very limited tables available given the space. The shaved ice is always well worth the wait.. delicious, refreshing and generous portions. I would definitely skip the crepes though.. crepes ended up being too hard and not enjoyable ):

The pandan got kinda bitter the more you ate it, still good tho but recommend the milk one. Decent size, it looks small but because it's so creamy it's def heavier on the stomach that shaved ice that's only ice with syrup flavor like kakigori. Small place, not too much of seating. It was packed when we went there on a Saturday night. Barely able to find seating so keep that in mind :)

Located in a small strip plaza, Salju Dessert is a good option if you're looking for a place where you can customize and build your own order. They offer two sizes (small and medium) and while one person could eat a small on their own, it certainly is big enough for sharing. We decided to get two Small shaved snow ($8.50 each), one with guava flavored snow and the other with Thai tea. Each order also comes with two toppings of your choice so we opted for the almond jelly and mango to top our guava snow, and egg pudding and mochi to top our Thai tea. The snow had a creamy texture and I enjoyed the flavor of the Thai tea snow. The guava snow was pretty disappointing as I didn't get the guava flavor. Additionally, I wish they were more generous with the toppings as it was only enough to last through our first few bites so we had to eat the remaining snow on its own sans toppings. The shop appears small from the exterior, but there is a decent amount of seating indoors, about 4-5 small tables. Overall, I'm glad I came in to try Salju, but I don't know if I would make the trek over for a second visit anytime soon

We built our own shaved ice using a kiosk that was easy to place orders. You can also place your orders at the front register. They called our number as each item was ready for pick up at the counter. We chose various sixes between small, medium, large. We ordered the durian (highly recommend), taro, matcha, and strawberry. You can choose two toppings with additional toppings for additional fee. We chose rice ball, mochi, marshmallows, red beans and almond jelly. Lastly, you'll choose syrup which we opted for condensed milk. They were great for sharing and overall, the desserts were good. Place gets packed. There are some tables, booths, and chairs. Parking is scarce in a small plaza with other shops.

Where did this place come from? It's a very busy and small tiny place. If you're not looking for it, you'll pass it and never go. parking is tight and difficult for the little small plaza that it's in but the shaved ice was delicious. we got multiple shaped ice, different flavors and toppings, and they were all delicious. The Boba drinks were well made and the crêpe were good. I'll probably never eat here, but I'll definitely come here for to go if I'm in the area. First you order at the kiosk then they'll call your name when your food is ready. Seating is first come first serve and it's very tight in there.

My friend recommended Salju Dessert for a nice summer treat before our night ended. It is a very small shop that had a lot of different shaved ice flavors. I tried the black sesame flavor with sweet taro and red bean as my toppings. My friend got strawberry with mochi and fruity pebbles for hers! We ordered by the cashier and it was very quick. We found a table, and it was a little dirty, so we cleaned it up before sitting down. The shaved ice came shortly after, and the best way to describe it is pillowly. It was very soft and light. I really liked my topping choice, but I wished the black sesame was stronger. It did not taste like anything in particular. Regardless, it was a good dessert and I am glad I tried!

Recently visited Salju Dessert with a few friends since we were craving something sweet after dinner. I found this place through Yelp and convinced everyone to give it a try, and I'm really glad we did! (Keep in mind parking can be difficult since it's in a small lot) The shaved ice/snow was delicious -- light, refreshing, and full of flavor! We all agreed it definitely hit the spot. I shared the medium size ($8.50) and we chose the original milk flavor, which was perfectly creamy and subtly sweet! We topped it off with some juicy mango and chewy mochi for the ultimate texture contrast. Simple but truly so refreshing. The only downside was the interior of the space. It felt a bit outdated, with scuffed walls and chipped paint that took away from the overall vibe. It's not the most Instagram-worthy spot, which might matter to some. But the quality of the dessert definitely makes up for it! If you're in the area and craving something cold and refreshing, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

Salju is so good and the portions are crazy too! I ordered a small and they stack the shaved ice up really high. I ordered the matcha and asked the employee for the most populate toppings and she recommended strawberry and mochi, and I added condensed milk, and that was perfect. They're so busy though, and it's really hard getting a table to sit at. I will definitely be back!

This place tastes like my childhood. You can customize your own combinations mix and match. It's very refreshing and not too sweet. My personal preference is combination of tropical flavor with passions fruit syrup on top, always! Durian is also really good! They have great selections of flavor for shaved ice and toppings. You get two toppings for small and three toppings for large. If you get confused about what to pick, just ask the cashier! Their combination recommends are always good too! I also like how it's very spacious inside too! Great for chit chat and hang out with family and friends. As for the crepe, I think it's fine. It's very crispy and tastes homemade. My go to spot in SGV when I'm craving shaved ice. It's close to my home. Also, idk anyone who doesn't like this place lol

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place. I've been coming back over and over and enjoying their delicious shaved ice. Their brick toast was okay but not the best... However, the shaved ice is one of the best out there. My favorite is the black sesame, but most of the flavors are very good. I just wish they had more places to sit. It gets crowded quite often. They seem to keep the place nice and clean. Now, I'm craving for some more.... Hahaha!

so nostalgic being here!!! they have a few tables inside for dining & limited seating outside. to order there is also a self kiosk towards the middle :) we ordered a small cup & it's filled generously!!! we all realized a small cup can probably be shared amongst 2-3 people if you're not really into dessert we went with flavors of thai tea, green tea, honey dew, original, & strawberry! they all tasted how they should but some were a little less potent. the parking lot is tiny but there is also street parking!

this is one of my fav dessert places in alhambra. i love that you get to customize your bowl however you want and they always give a good portion size. there's a variety of options to choose from for their shaved ice options. their crepe are also really delicious & customizable. i got a chocolate shaved ice with oreos and mochi + rice balls topped with condensed milk. 10/10 sweet tooth craving satisfied.

Ordered icecream crepe w/ nutella & banana (extra $1 for banana). Total came out to around $9. Portions were big enough to share between 2 people. We even took some ice cream out because it was too much for us lol! Crepes were fresh and crispy with multiple layers. It was the perfect texture in my opinion. Would def come back for another sweet treat :) Note: Can get busy inside, so might be hard to find a table. Parking lot is small too.

I really wanted to like this place since I've been eyeing their unique flavors of shaved ice, but I am disappointed.. Although service was kind & ambiance was welcoming, this shaved ice did not live up to any of friends or my expectations... We ordered a pandan shaved ice w/ rice balls, taro pudding, and lychee jelly, topped with condensed milk. (2/5) The first bite tasted yummy and sweet. Toppings were great as well. But as we ate more, the sweetness from the condensed milk disappeared & the pandan flavor also wasn't prominent. It started to taste like bitter frozen milk, which wasn't pleasant & left us feeling very confused & disappointed with our dessert :(( We asked for more condensed milk which helped but that essentially masked the taste of the bitter milk shaved ice which shouldn't be there in the first place.. and no pandan flavor in sight. I am not sure if this is a ingredient issue but if I were the business, I would consider the recipe again & make sure the ingredients/machine/process is doing alright. I hope to see this business improve in the near future before coming again.

Today in celebration of my niece's 17th b-day, I treated everyone to some Salju dessert. There were 12 of us so we each got either snow ice and/or crepe. The lady who took our order was super nice and friendly. She was very patient with us. She offered me some cute Salju Dessert bags maybe because I spent some good money here. Thank you so much miss! I appreciate your generosity. The small and medium snow were very good size. The crepes were huge. We'll definitely be back here for more yummy and delicious snow and crepe. Luckily, there was space for all of us to sit at. I didn't get a chance to chill with my Mom and two of my youngest brothers and their families as I had a dentist appointment and had to leave early. Nevertheless, it was really nice to have our family together in celebration of my niece. Happy Birthday J*!

We were looking for something refreshing after having ayce kbbq and this place was right around the corner. It was super busy but the line moves fast. You get 1 snow flavor option for the Small w/ 2 toppings and 2 snow options w/ toppings for the Medium. I opted for the Medium so I could try the Almond and Guava snow - it was sooo good. Definitely hit the spot! 9 out of 10!

tl;dr you must try the signature snow bowls -- the two-flavored are the best bang for your buck, and they could reasonably feed an entire family Snow ice, a popular Taiwanese dessert, is thinly shaved with an even layer of syrups, creating a light and creamy texture, unlike Hawaiian-style snow cones. When it comes to snow ice, no San Gabriel Valley dessert bar does it better than Salju Dessert. This popular shop shares a Valley strip mall with a tea house and a Cajun seafood joint. The atmosphere is very 90s, from the pastel walls and upholstery to the outdated wavy ceiling decorations. To the left, a line queues up at the ordering counter, and staff members sculpt snow bowls in cardboard cups. On the right and straight back, mismatched tables and chairs are scattered around the walls. Chinese pop music blends with the echo of chatter, and the air conditioner is no match for the SoCal summer heat. Across multiple visits, I have been most impressed by the dynamic Taro ice and the rich Black Sesame ice. The true-to-flavor Thai Tea is also worth trying. Less exciting are the muted Guava and the Vietnamese Coffee flavors. For toppings, I'd highly recommend the fresh mochi Rice Balls (as opposed to the "Mochi" topping, which is the sugary, shelf-stable variety). Other solid toppings are the jellies and condensed milk. My largest criticism is that the toppings are sprinkled along the outside, leaving an inconsistent snow-to-topping ratio. On the weekends, expect every table to be taken and a line trail out the door. Service is friendly but inefficient, as the staff can only create one shaved ice bowl at a time -- as such, simple orders should be placed at the kiosk in the middle of the space. A two-flavored Medium Snow will run you $12 and will reasonably satisfy 2-3 appetites. This delicious and unique dessert has few equals in the neighborhood -- it's no wonder that Salju consistently boasts such a sizeable queue.

Worth your buck! Amazing staff the woman who I've seen every time I go is very welcoming and sweet! There is lots of seating inside and a table outside aswell. Good parking. The taste is great! And the vibes are awesome they mainly play early 2010's music

I'm glad I live in the area because Salju is a short 5 minute drive-- lucky me!! Whether it's a hot day, a late night, or if I'm just craving something sweet, Salju is my go to place!! It's a small shop in a plaza so there's easy parking. You can either order at the counter or on the kiosk. I've ordered at both and it didn't affect the timing of when my order came out. It took about 10-15 minutes for my order to be ready. There's limited seating so I typically stand and wait for my order and eat outside or in my car. Don't expect to be able to easily find seating, it's usually crowded! I've tried so many flavors and they're all great! My favorite flavors would have to be Black Sesame, Pandan, and Coconut. The snow is so light and fluffy, it's a texture different from your the typical ice cream. The flavors don't exactly pack a punch so don't expect it coming from snow. I mean, it is snow so it'd have a light icy flavor anyways. For $8.50 you'd think it's pricey, but for the amount you get, a small was filling for me and my boyfriend. I'm glad we shared because a small was enough to fill up the both of us! You're able to get 2 toppings included and 1 choice of drizzle. I like trying different mixtures and today I chose red bean and coconut flakes to top off my black sesame snow. So good! Especially on such a hot day.

Nice helpful workers Normal dessert place vibes (think most froyo places). Chocolate is solid, peanut butter cup topping was good. Taro pudding is ok, normal custard pudding is better. Not aloe Vera, stop throwing them in our cups Jenny!

The prices are good and the servings for the small are huuuuggggeee. The pandan and original milk snow flavors are both really good. The texture is light and fluffy. We noticed the snow is a bit stretchy as well. We will come back to try other flavors.

Went here for the first time. Location is West of the HAT on Valley & Garfield. Cashier was very nice. My matcha latte with added small bobba balls was ok. It could have been sweeter. My friends shared some shaved ice fruit. Perfect for today's hot summer day. Will come back and try their crepes!

Incredible experience tonight with the most fluffy shaved ice. We loved watching the machines in the making and how many variations you could make. It was so delicious and well done. Best shaved ice we've ever had.

Had to come here to cool down. I ordered a small matcha shaved snow with 2 servings of mochi and a light drizzle of condensed milk. My friend ordered their small original shaved snow with popping boba and sliced almonds with a little drizzle of condensed milk. So yummy. For Togo orders they offer ice packs to help keep them cold.

We visited on a busy Friday evening, and the place was packed with lines out the door. Upon entering, you'll find a counter on the left and instructions for placing your order. They offer shaved ice, crispy crepes, and brick toasts. We ordered the shaved ice (snow) with two flavors: matcha and black sesame. It came with three toppings (sweet taro, mochi, and fresh blueberries) and we added condensed milk on top. The shaved ice had a fluffy, soft texture, and the matcha flavor was stronger, which we enjoyed. However, the ice-to-topping ratio could have been more balanced, though they were generous with portion sizes. The space is simple with limited seating, which keeps the turnover quick. Service was fast despite the crowd.

Delicious shaved snow dessert. You can select different flavors for the snow and different toppings. Many choices of toppings to choose from. Although the place is small, you can sit and enjoy your dessert comfortably.

The snow is delicious! We got strawberry, chocolate and mango. My kids loved it! It's clean and cute inside. The customer service is great and they give recommendations which is always a plus! We will be back for sure!

4++ I'm not exactly sure how to classify the spot. A few of my friends were looking for some dessert after dinner and specifically wanted to try some bing soo. We found this place and it looks pretty good (and I think it's bing soo?) Either way this place has delicious treats. It was a thicker than shave ice - almost ice cream like in texture. There's also a huge variety of toppings that you can add on top of which seems more like a Taiwanese type spot? I ordered the original milk flavor snow ice with some mochi and egg pudding and also got to try a bit of my friend's who ordered some fruity pebbles. Both were delicious, but I think I might've preferred. The fruity pebbles went slightly more. There's a lot of sugar in this dessert so the small is plenty, especially since it's pretty large serving for a small. The place itself is super lively because it was packed when we got there. Their service was very friendly and efficient. They probably have to be, since this place gets so much traffic.
