"The first thing you’ll see upon entering this sprawling, bi-level Latin American restaurant is something roasting on an open-air spit—a sight hardcore carnivores, in particular, are sure to get a kick out of. While the menu is in fact very meat-heavy, there’s plenty for veggies and pescetarians, too: you can easily make a meal of the sides alone (the cheese-smothered corn is unreal) though the ceviche list deserves ample attention. Needless to say, the rich wine selection will be appreciated by all. "

Google
Salmuera was a wonderfully romantic place. The service was great and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed everything we ate and the drinks were fantastic. Highly recommend this place for a date night or a group of people. There's plenty to share and drink from. Make sure to make a reservation beforehand!

Google
Fantastic place, fantastic food and fantastic service. There was a but of a wait for the main dishes but it was totally worth the wait and the place was fully booked. The meat empanadas are amazing and also the meat cuts. Moises was super friendly took well care of us. If I had to improve something it will be the acoustics of the place. It can get super noisy and its hard to hear others. Thanks for the experience!

Google
Amazing Argentinian steak house with quality meat and interesting food on the menu. The service was great and fast, the employees were really nice and ready to explain and recommend. The food is amazing, especially the meat, and taste really good. The atmosphere is really romantic, the candle at the dinner table is just like from a movie. However, the music is way too loud, maybe that is because we were next to a speaker. Would recommend and come back!

Google
Easily one of my favourite places in Amsterdam. 10/10 food, drinks and service. Honestly don’t know what you want more. The attention and passion that went into this comes back in everything. Oh, and yes the great agave selection in the bar definitely helps with that. Must visit - period.

Google
Was really good food. Steak was amazing. My only complaint is the mezcal tasting at the table the push. He comes with 3 bottles amd pushes one. Says its the best blah blah but never tells you it's 30 euros for a shot. Deception is bad for business. Watch out for this scam. Would have been 5 stars of they would have been up front.

Google
An accidental masterpiece of a meal. I stumbled upon this place by pure chance, and let me tell you—fate was flirting. From the first sip of my cocktail to the last bite of steak, everything was flawless. The sides? Decadent. The steaks? Melt-in-your-mouth magic. The cocktails? Basically a love letter in liquid form. Hands down, the best meal I’ve had in Amsterdam so far.

Google
We came here for our wedding anniversary dinner and were definitely not disappointed! We spent 3 days (nights in Amsterdam) and this was on our second. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and prompt, we loved it so much, we booked there and then for dinner on our third (and final) night. It was just as good the second time. I had the ribeye on the first night and the tenderloin on our second visit, both were stunning

Google
We ordered almost the entire menu, and everything was delicious. The tempura cauliflower was particularly tasty. We tried all the beef options (rib-eye, entrecôte, and tenderloin). The cooking levels of the meats were mostly well done, even though we had asked for medium. Fortunately, the taste was still great. We forgot to order mezcals, but we will definitely go again for them.

Yelp
From the start, this restaurant feels like a hidden gem--there's no big sign or grand entrance, just a simple hallway leading to where the magic happens. Once inside, you notice the space is much larger than expected, with two floors full of tables. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to secure a spot. All of our steaks were cooked to perfection--juicy and bursting with flavor, just as we'd hoped. The sides, especially the potatoes and arroz de campo, were also excellent. While the service was friendly, it was a bit disorganized. For example, when the food arrived, we had to remind the waitress about our missing rice sides, and one side never showed up. The two Elote orders also arrived at dessert time. Finally, we also asked for extra sauce, but it was forgotten. Because of these service issues, I'm giving this place four stars .

Yelp
This place is amazing. It was recommended by a local who provided us restaurants while shopping in Pandora. We sat outside and shared a steak. This steak was cooked to perfection. We also had the elote and tried the empanadas which were both very tasty. They provided a Chimichuri sauce that was divine and we honestly dipped everything in it! hahaha. Great drinks and great ambiance, I am glad we were able to get a reservation here on our short trip!

Yelp
Made reservations for party of 3 at 9pm on Sunday night. Pretty busy inside. Loved the dimly lit ambiance! Great spot for food and drinks. We shared the patatas al horno, pimientos, choriempa empanadas, elote, and Nikkei ceviche. My favorites were the Nikkei and pimientos. Both were very fresh and flavorful. We weren't the biggest fans of the patatas because they were mushy and undercooked. Empanadas and elote were ok. Food was served very quickly, service was great.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. We loved that we were seated in the outside area for dinner. It was like eating in a cozy backyard garden. We started with an order of the Choriempa Empanadas. A crispy rolled dough stuffed with a sausage type meat. Great dipped in the chimichuri sauce. We ordered the smallest portion size of the Lechon and it was clearly enough for 2-4 people if you share appetizers. We also ordered the Bife Chorizo - Entrecôte. That was ordered medium rare and it was very tender, juicy, and delicious. Definitely the star of the show. The Verduras Mezcladas -Mixed vegetables seasoned with red chimichurri was surprisingly full of fresh garden vegetables in a salsa type sauce with a nice spicy kick. Great accompaniment to any entree. I have eaten here on every visit to Amsterdam because everything has always been perfect.

Yelp
We know Argentine food very well. My wife is from Argentina. This was one of the best Argentine restaurants we've gone to outside BA. Mostly authentic, but could be adjusted for local tastes. There are a lot of Argentine imposters in B Amsterdam for some reason. This is the real thing. Quality all the way, including real Alfajores. If you're looking for a great, true Argentine restaurant, this is it.
google avatar

Dominique S.

Yelp
They have a cute outdoor patio you can sit in but I'd recommend sitting inside. It's much larger than you'd expect. The drinks are delicious. Food wise I'd stick to steak. That's what they are known for. I tried their poor dish which wasn't bad but it was not my favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great cocktails, and the food was delicious! I had the fried cauliflower appetizer which was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Really enjoyed that. The corn pastries were good too -- great flavor and filling! The texture was similar to a samosa with that crispy flakiness. The quesadillas were okay, nothing out of this world but still a solid vegetarian option! Would recommend only if you're vegetarian and need something more but not too original overall. Check this place out for a nice meal with good cocktails! My friend is a carnivore and enjoyed the pig entree she ordered as well!
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Food was tasty and so good. I had the fillet and Corn and couldn't get enough. The waitress recommended the coqui to and it was sweet and sour , a great cocktail. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. We ordered the grilled octopus - fabulously cooked and flavored, the dorado fish, super tender and delicately flavored with citrus, and a steak, also tender and absolutely delicious. The server's recommended wine was also top notch. Highly recommend! I would return on our next trip to Amsterdam. Be prepared to wait for your food a while though, 'cause it was crowded. We waited nearly 45 minutes after ordering. Worth the wait.

Yelp
Went here for a steak dinner. The food was excellent and portion size was good. If you are getting a starter choose the cheese sticks!!! - amazing Service was a little slow and we got seated by a greeter at door and didn't get given menus or drinks for another 30 minutes. When we ordered our drinks they forgot our 2nd beer and water so only brought us out 1 drink. Ambiance was very nice - candle lit tables inside and a beautiful outdoor area if you wanted to sit outside. There was an issue with our order and we received a second lot of our starter when we didn't order them which made our mains take a while to come out. However, the wait was worth it as the steaks were delicious. One downside is they don't serve potato fries they serve "healthy" fries which were very crunchy and didn't quite hit the same.

Yelp
So lucky to get a reservation in last minute! I was greeted by a lovely girl who put us on to their best dishes. I had a filet mignon -medium rare with a salad and mixed seasoned veggies. The veggies were gone fast They were so well seasoned and had a sauce that was to die for. The octopus (Kraken) had luscious flavor and good texture to it. I ordered a pitcher of sangria and being that I love wine of all types, this was the best sangria I've ever had. The ambience of the place was so relaxing. Candlelit dinner with a beautiful red rose sat so elegantly in the tables. We were the only ones there for a good hour before guests started making their way through. Price is good and service was excellent.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
What a nice birthday dinner! Sabatian was a fantastic waiter. The grilled octopus was the BEST I've ever had! The steaks were all very tender! I'll definitely come back!

Yelp
Came here based on a recommendation from our hotel and all of the good reviews - make sure to book reservations in advance. Here's what we ordered: - Empanadas (very good) - Quesailla (okay) - Tequeños (okay) - Elote (good) -Lechón (pig) (okay, ordered too large a serving - Kraken (octopus) (good) - Arroz de Campo (rice with chorizo, raisins and beans) (okay) Service here was excellent, our server and everyone else we encountered went out of their way which was appreciated. Would give it another try and opt for some red meat dishes next time (in lieu of the pork and octopus).

Brenda G.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! Service was impeccable! All served up in an excellent environment. We were celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. Candlelight made it extra special. Do not pass on the cauliflower. So good!!
google avatar

Yenderson S.

Yelp
Where do I even start? The service was really slow and not attentive at all. We ordered some appetizers for the table, and she forgot to order some of the things. For the mains, there's only one chicken option; we tried to order, but they didn't have it. Then someone else tried to order a lechona; they didn't have that either. I ordered an octopus, and after 15 min, the waitress came back and said they didn't have the octopus. A whole mess. It took them 30min to serve us drinks; we were celebrating a birthday and ordered some tequila shots, we had to ask another waiter, and he was really fast about it, but it had already been 30min since we arrived at the place. The food wasn't the best, the "tequeños" are not tequeños it should be a crime to call those tequeños. The ceviche wasn't that great; the fish they used was very chewy. The music was also very loud, making it hard to have a conversation. Overall, not a great experience! They have a great website, but that's it.

Yelp
We stumbled across this restaurant from a recommendation from a local. His recommendation was spot on great! Salmuera is an Argentinian based restaurant with a Netherlands twist. There is a whole variety of ceviches, empanadas and various other small plates. Everything our group ordered was delicious. The fried cauliflower was my personal favorite and it was coated in a teriyaki base marinade/batter. My cocktail was spot on what I ordered and wanted--the restaurant has a vast menu of craft cocktails, so there is something for everyone. I will definitely recommend Salmuera to travelers in Amsterdam and I'll go back when I visit again. Might I add that the vibe and decor is very cute and can see it being a great date night spot as well. Also, Simone was our waitress and she was very pleasant and friendly! She have solid recs from the menu!

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing !!!! From appetizers to drinks to the entrees. It was all amazing and amazing hospitality. If you are ever in Amsterdam you have to try this ! Trust me you will not be disappointed! We loved it so much we are going back again today !

Yelp
Cool place. Great drinks. Cool atmosphere. And of course, most important - really good food that was beyond reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Gerardo D.

Yelp
Bottom line: the best pork I have had in my life. The Lechón is really amazing, cooked for many hours in slow heat. Tender and absolutely delicious. We also had a sampler plate with chorizo, empanadas, chicken and other dishes that were good, but the pork was out of this world.
google avatar

Katherine G.

Yelp
We came here with an Argentinian co-worker who knows his beef. Got to pick a cut of beef to be prepared for the table, and enjoyed it a lot. Excellent place, and staff. Do not hesitate to ask questions.
google avatar

Victoria H.

Yelp
This restaurant is excellent. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The food is amazing (I recommend the rib eye) and they have a LOT of bar menu choices. The prices are great for the quality. All round awesome!!!
google avatar

Marti M.

Yelp
Known for its amazing buttery melt in your mouth steak but also has incredibly flavorful vegetarian options (which I had!) the vegetarian stew dish is so tasty! Very filling too! The green salad is so much more than a green salad. It's an exciting little salad with lots of veggies and color! The staff is top notch! You can tell they really love what they do. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Chantel H.

Yelp
The reviews led me astray on this one. I thought I saw vegan or vegetarian options on the menu but they all ended up being bite-size appetizers. I'm grateful they had something but nothing makes me more bummed than having to order appetizers for dinner, I want a meal! The finger cheese quesadilla was good and the patatas were also very good.(I did leave hungry though but that just meant more room for treats as we explored the city!) It was very busy and we didn't have reservations but the host sat us very quickly regardless. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food, ceviche and chicken wings were ordered, they loved them. The prices were reasonable and the service was good for being a busy night.

Daniel M.

Yelp
We were able to get seated without a reservation despite them being busy. That staff was super nice and accommodating. The drinks and food was amazing! They take their time helping you understand the process that goes into the drinks and meats. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
So happy I stumbled upon this place. My bf and I were looking for a place to have a couple cocktails while we waited for reservations elsewhere. We ended up cancelling our reservation to eat here. I started off with the chipotle cocktail with mezcal and a Tajin rim. It was perfectly spicy. Next, I tried the tamarind cocktail, also with mezcal. It was definitely good, but the chipotle was better. We sampled a few of the empanadas, pork, beef and chicken. The chicken was my favorite and my bf liked the beef best. Next we tried some of the taquitos. It came with 3 small taquitos but there was a lot of flavor packed in each one! Finally, we shared a chorizo quesadilla. The chorizo came on the side mixed with black beans and it was delicious! Definitely recommend if you're in Amsterdam!

Mark T.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, candles lit with great music and good vibe. The food was bursting with flavor. I had ceviche, and the fish that is similar to red snapper in the US. The Octopus was ok. But everything else good. And bread w the herb butter is delicious.

Greg K.

Yelp
Simply a wonderful evening and dining experience. Every menu item was superb and wonderfully spiced and flavorful. The service perfect - knowledgeable, warm, friendly with just the right personal interaction and the atmosphere warm, energetic and comfortable. I would make a return trip to Amsterdam simply to eat at Salmuera again.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
Gorgeous spot in Amsterdam. Great food and drinks and you can't get this kind of service in Amsterdam. The Entrecote was cooked beautifully and by far my favorite type of steak.
google avatar

Marlowe C.

Yelp
Great place in Amsterdam! I thought the food (Argentinian) was authentic. It was fresh and delicious. We tried a few things - empanada, tacos, and the elote (one of my favorite dishes), but the standout was the Lechon pork with chimichurri sauce added (pictured). The decor and ambiance was nice too! For a big place that wasn't entirely full, it still felt intimate. Staff was attentive and kind! One thing I didn't love was how freezing cold the bathroom was, but that wasn't a big deal. My friend also left a shopping bag there which they held for us at the front past close, so we could retrieve it when we noticed we left it - it was our last night in Amsterdam, so we had to have it at that moment! Thanks, Salmuera!
google avatar

Fernando N.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I have been coming here for the past 3 years. Warm vibe from the ambiance and staff. Definitely make reservations just to make sure you get a table. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu. All the cuts of meat are delicious, it's all up to what you to choose from. El Pollito is delicious. The Kraken is also a must if you like octopus. The empanadas are amazing.. and of course, the margaritas. Enjoy! I live in Southern California and work in Amsterdam. This place makes me feel right at home. Cheers!
google avatar

Keith D.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and Service. Was very dissapointed with the Lechon it was over salted and did not meet my expectations at all However Empanadas, Ceviche were excellent.
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
I wanted to give Salmuera 5 stars because the steak was just perfect. The atmosphere is great and the waitress really knew the food and the menu. She was very descriptive when explaining everything. I called before I came and they said the kitchen closed at 10:30pm so I showed up at almost 10pm - there was no wait for a table. Their sangria was tasty but not strong at all. I had to dock a star because I was so excited about the Lechon. It ended up being the driest pork I've ever had (although their Chimichurri sauce made it better). My non-Hispanic mother makes pork 10x as good. I've never sent back an entree in my life but I had to return this pork because it was so disappointing and my boyfriend's steak was so incredible. The waitress was super gracious about it and let me order a steak instead.
google avatar

Kien-Vu D.

Yelp
Eventhough it is hard let me try to decouple the food and the experience I've had @ Samuera. Large platters of finger food, grilled meat and vegetables to share. You get what you ask for : a rather tasty meal for a reasonnable price. The problem starts when the waitress accidently starts pouring gravy on you and acts like it is nothing. Yes I would expect more than a simple oops sorry there is a lot sauce! Yes I would expect she literally stops what she is doing and brings you a wet towel! Yes I would expect she feels embarassed! Yes I would expect she finds a way to make it up to you with some kind of goodwill gesture! But I guess it was way too much to ask. The worst thing is that I don't even think they would care about such a review. My friendly advise : when a customer is treated that way... avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
A cool new latin restaurant on Rozengracht with a hip and gezellig vibe. You're greeted with a loud SAL light in front of their narrow kitchen and you're not sure whether to go walk back or go forward. Did you find the right place? Are you are in a takeout taco place or going into a dive bar with a mechanical bull in the back? Then suddenly you take a turn to the right and it's exactly the place you've been looking for! It's romantic, candlelit, there are old shutters lining the walls, tiny wooden tables and it's the place you want to stay all night. Well done on the decor! For a veggie appetizer, I recommend the tequenos de queso, a latin version of the kaastengel with some favorful green sauce to accompany it. No one says no to fried cheese! For the main meal, if you're a meat eater, Argentinean steak is definitely the way to go here. The Bife Ancho looked amazing. For vegetarians there was only one choice of a stuffed zucchini, and I would say, try the sides and appetizers instead. It was underwhelming. I'm hoping this portion of the menu will change a bit. It's currently their 'soft launch', so who knows. The corn on the cob was too chewy, didn't have that fresh crisp to it. I'd pass on it. Anyway, I really like the ambiance and I'll be back to try their cerviches and other apps soon. I kinda like that it's a neighborhood secret at the moment, but it's sure to become really popular.

A M.

Yelp
Our hotel recommend this place in the Jordaan neighborhood. The restaurant had a nice and warm vibe to it. It was very busy for a Thursday night. We kicked off our meal with some Mezcal and a Heineken. This place is apparently known for their Mezcal cocktails and they did not disappoint. I went with the Chipotle. It was a spicy and smoky delight. We were tempted to each get a steak but as we looked around and saw so much deliciousness on tables we decided to go more tapas style and I couldn't be happier about that as everything was amazing! You MUST get the léchon. It is the best pork I've ever had. The flavor is simply amazing. We were also impressed with the beef tenderloin. The plantain chips were also money...sooooo gooood. Lastly, I'd recommend the elote... although I think it's priced a smidge high compared to the value of everything else. We also ordered the Mixto ceviche which I thought was just ok. I wish we went with just the Octopus ceviche. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a cozy, delicious and romantic dinner or night out with close friends.
google avatar

Dee W.

Yelp
Delicious food and atmosphere. The octopus was tender and cooked perfectly! The downstairs is dark and kind of romantic, the upstairs has more light.
google avatar

Randall C.

Yelp
Stopped in last night after a show at Boom Chicago across the street (so-so btw). The mezcal mule was tasty and quite stiff. And the streetfood platter was perfect for two, although it was pretty heavy with all the fried bites. Service was attentive and suggestive...overall nice late evening stop for food and drink.
google avatar

Emeraon K.

Yelp
Salmuera is so good!! A perfect Argentinian / Mexican restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. If missing that Latino food, then this is absolutely the place for you. The appetizers are all wonderful and the main courses are the perfect flavor and size. My main complaint is the price, but that can be overlooked. Also, when it's very busy, the service can be very slow, but I still recommend to everyone!
google avatar

Laquinti H.

Yelp
I really had a great time at this restaurant. The food was authentic and I was very impressed with the flavor. Make sure you grab a reservation because it is really busy.
google avatar

Oana J.

Yelp
Great little spot with charming atmosphere and tasty eats. We had two of the ceviche offerings and a fried cheese appetizer and everything was very tasty. Service was on point also. Should have made a reservation to get a table inside, the place was packed.

Marie M.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so much more than I did. I reserved a seat on the outside terrace, which they did not allow when I arrived (even though there were plenty of tables available). The service was fine but not outstanding--and it was difficult to flag anyone down for a second drink. The food was good enough.
google avatar

Monika S.

Yelp
Starting with a mezcal bar on kings night is never going to end well! Although, the Chipotle Margaritas I had here that night were almost worth the hangover the next day. I don't remember much about the food, drinks were great though, friends loved all the cocktails! Atmosphere is cool, great decor, expect very slow service though on more popular nights - ordered two cocktails at a time because of it - which definitely contribited to the hangover... All in all, a nice night out, would be back to try the food again so I can actually comment on it!
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Great drinks, great food, fantastic service. Overall, the best restaurant experience I've ever had And if you get Igor as a waiter, you're in for a treat
google avatar

Esmeralda D.

Yelp
The food was great, the drinks amazing. We had a few cocktails, including their mole old fashioned and their signature margarita. Amazing! The classic ceviche is well balanced, perfect tanginess to saltiness. The lechón was tender, the sides (arroz and verduras for us) were well seasoned. For the price point, great. The only thing that we fussed about about were waiting 15-20 mins at the beginning to get our drinks and the bottle of sparking water. The server, however was very friendly and accommodating. Also, all of our food was brought out at the same time: the cool ceviche and the warm lechón, so the latter got a little cold while we had the former. Perhaps they should ask in what order guests want their food to come out? So really a 4ish, but I'm rounding up because we had a great time and the atmosphere was great!
google avatar

Matt V.

Yelp
This place is legit. This place was recommended to me as one of the only "real Argentinian places" around as most of the other ones are fake knock offs. Everything was incredible!
google avatar

Marie-Alice D.

Yelp
A beautiful courtyard, nice wine list, great food and lovely staff I would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Roxanne-Liana F.

Yelp
The food here is authentic and super delicious. I would recommend the octopus, it was scrumptious. To top it off they also have amazing cocktails and great service. While a bit pricier I would certainly recommend it. Depending on when you visit, a reservation might not hurt

Denis B.

Yelp
Make no mistake: the food is OUTSTANDING ! Unfortunately the experience was heavily tainted by an incredibly long wait: 75 minutes to get the first course and another hour and a half to see the main course.... Totally unacceptable in all respects
google avatar

Jakob R.

Yelp
Been there twice. First time on a busy saturday where the food was amazing!! But the service really bad. Forgot our food, waited 1 1/2 hour to get it and then waited 1/2 hour just to pay even we asked the waiter once to come. My friends love the place so I gave it a second chance and placed at the back of the restaurant with my girlfriend, just underneath the loudspeaker. The music was so high we ended up not talking to each other. A company of 6 behind us shouted so loud due to the music that it wasnt really nice to be there. The food is really AMAZING, but compared to my 2 experience im not coming there again. Its too expensive compared to whai I experienced! The 3 stars is for the food.
