Sal's Pizzeria Cotati

My wife found Sal’s Pizzeria and was excited to try it, so we stopped in toward the end of our Valentine’s Day adventures, and we’re glad we did. It’s a small, casual spot with easy street parking when we visited, which made it an easy stop after a full day of exploring. The pizza was excellent, great flavor with just a little bit of spice that really worked. The ranch dressing also deserves a mention because it was genuinely delicious (and I don’t say that lightly). The beer selection was surprisingly strong for a small pizza place, and the person taking our order was friendly and even recommended a few other beer spots to check out in the area, which we always appreciate when traveling. Simple place, great pizza, solid beer list — exactly what you want after a long day out.

Best spot in town after new owners took over. My partner and I come over here nearly weekly, not just because it’s convenient, but because the atmosphere is so welcoming and the food is always good. Besides who can beat $12 slice and beer during the week!?! And not just any slice, this is so fresh, with quality ingredients and the dough is 🤌 Couldn’t ask for better. 💗

Absolutely delicious pizza. Definitely some of the best pizza I've ever had when you get it there and it's fresh. Absolutely delicious even when you bring it home and heat it up. Still delicious. Would highly recommend stopping by here on any road trip. I don't live near the area but definitely top three pizza places I've ever been

Sal‘s pizzeria is honestly the best pizza I’ve had in my life, everything down to the crust, the cheese, the bread, the sauce it’s all perfect, every time I walk in the store, There’s something about the atmosphere that makes me feel welcome. and when I take that first buy that pizza it is so good. It makes me wanna kick a fat kid at Kmart. all jokes aside, this is probably the best pizza in the Petaluma in Cotati area I would really recommend this pizza. It is so darn good.

We came to Sonoma state to pick up our son for winter break and we were craving a good Pizza. So we googled the best pizza near me and found this gem. This place has a phenomenal hand tossed more of a thin crust New York style pizza made with pride. You can taste the difference when something is made from scratch with quality natural and clean ingredients. Not at all greasy and commercial tasting. Definitely one of the Top 5 best pizzas I have ever had in the state and top 10 nationally and I have traveled a lot. It's not quite to the level of What we got while traveling Italy and Europe but now we are comparing globally. The price is very fair for the quality of pizza you are getting, Definitely a must try when in the area. My wife and son are still talking about it. We had a combination pizza that had some high quality meats and fresh veggies straight fire 🔥🔥.

Drove past and decided to stop for a late lunch. Very glad we did! You can tell all the ingredients are fresh. Pizza was delish!

Found this pizza place because of good reviews on Google. Very friendly service and great variety of menu options. The single slice was huge! Awesome pepperoni pizza. Parmesan breadsticks were also great. Definitely recommend it.

Ordered four large pizzas online for a get-together and everything was great! The staff was super friendly when I went to pick them up, and the place smelled amazing inside--like, you instantly get hungry walking in. It was also really clean and well-kept. I asked for some ranch on the side and was told it's normally $1 a cup, but they threw them in for free since it was a big order, such a nice gesture. (Would be awesome if there was an option to add sauces when ordering online!) The pizzas were seriously delicious. We got the Truffle Hog, Margherita di Bufala, Meat Lovers, and BBQ Chicken Luau. Every single one was a hit, nothing left but crumbs. Definitely coming back!

Top 3 sandwiches I've had in my life - I did it with no bacon and the flavor balance was 10/10. Spicy, sweet, and quality chicken.

Stopped in for pizza by the slice and it was honestly some of the best pizza I've ever had it was so flavorful and fresh. The service was great and the vibe inside was really chill, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy. I wish I lived closer because I'd definitely be here all the time. The pizza was that good! I also noticed they had pesto twists on the menu, and I'm already looking forward to trying them next time I visit.

Look at this gorgeous calzone! I can't believe I have never tried before! I ordered pepperoni & added red onion.. it came out right from the oven golden brown & sizzling with olive oil then garnished w fresh basil. It comes with a little side of marinara & I added a side of their house made ranch. Calzone was generously stuffed with molten mozzarella, creamy ricotta & lots of pepperoni. Anthony who works behind the bar is so helpful by knowing about all the beers he is serving & will offer a taste if you aren't sure what to order. Also must try the current featured pizza with pepperoni, peppadew, stratchiatella & hot honey! Yummy root beer floats with craft root beer. My niece loved hers! I also order a veggie pizza from time to time, you cannot go wrong here.

Our absolute favorite pie in Sonoma County. Great crust and sauce are priorities for me and they kill it. Even their gluten free is great. Well done, fellas.

This place is so good! I was passing through Cotati in my way to a bakery and so glad I stopped. MUST check out their happy hour starting at 3, a slice & a beer for $12. Their tap options are limited but all 4 options are really good breweries. Pizza was fresh & so good, beer was also nice & crisp. Check them out!

This is just about as good as a real NY slice! Stopped in with my kiddo in the middle of the afternoon, a little nervous, knowing that time of day isn't ideal for a fresh slice, but enticed by some pictures I saw online and feeling super meh about the other two well known options in Cotati. Ended up being the best slice I've had in ages (never mind the nice guy who was working the counter and the awesome mural and overall vibe.) Those other two slice shops with local name recognition are now in my past. Sal's is now my go-to. (Wish I'd gotten the name of the man working today. He was just. Nice. Genuinely nice and working hard.)

This is the best (as in most NYC like) pizza I've had in Sonoma County and maybe even the overall Bay Area. They really get it on the crust, sauce, and flavors combination feeling. I came in another time and loved it, now I'm doing it again. Plus the vibe and people are nice and they have some specials. I love Sal's!

Absolutely the best pizza we've found out here so far! I'm a total snob, New York born kinda pizza jerk and Sals is just spectacular. Pizza is one of those things that seems so simple, with so few ingredients, but that's what makes it so hard to master, and Sals has done that. We just moved to the area and we've already found 'our spot'!

I had heard wonderful things about Sal's pizza, so perhaps my expectations were high, but I was disappointed in the slice I got. I am quite particular about pizza crust I must add. Service was nice enough. The side salad was decent. Maybe I will give Sal's one more try.

I really cannot get enough of Sal's. Good every time. I tired the cannoli's and they were delicious, wish I would've taken a picture but they were just gone too fast. And of course I always get great service.

Super yummy, I'm not a pizza fan but this was good. It's a pretty nice spot. The staff is very welcoming.

We do pizza Friday almost every week and Sal's is always in the rotation! Their ranch and pesto breadsticks are a dream combo, definitely get them. The owner is super friendly and you can tell every pizza is made with love and care. We generally get it to go but next time we are going to eat in because the vibe is so cozy and feels like a true pizzeria!

This place was sooooooo good. We placed an online order because we were not sure if there would be seating, but there were a few indoor tables and a bar we could sit at! The inside was really cute and you could tell they put a lot of effort into the decor. The man who served us was very friendly and recommended us some beers while we waited for our order. They serve local beers and have a pretty good selection. We got the small chipotle chicken pizza and a small vegan pizza (forgot to get a picture) and both were delicious. It was slightly pricey, but if you have the money it is well worth the price! Nothing better than a delicious pizza made with love :)

Vegetarian review - their pesto bread is absolutely the best. We also tried the vegetarian pizza which was great. Repeated the vegetarian another day and felt it wasn't consistent but we'll try it again for sure. Absolutely recommend. The service for seating or take out is great. Ambiance is very cool, love the look.

Came here for lunch and got the chicken parm sando. Very fresh ingredients, soft bread, lots of sauce. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I was watching them make pizza as waited for and ate my sandwich, and it made me want to come back for a pie or some slices. Will be back when I'm in the area.

I wish I took pics of this amazing place and food! Do not even consider any other pizza place when you come to this town. You will be sadly disappointed if you don't get to experience this amazing food. The food was EXCEPTIONAL, absolutely blew us away. We got the specialty pizza (paperella -stratietella, pepperdew peppers and hot honey). My kids ordered the Hawaiian pizza and the Nutella calzone and it was delicious! You can taste the quality in the food!! The service was excellent but we are most definitely coming back for the food!!

Tiny place but oh so cute! And the food! Omg the pesto twists were amazing, I could have a million. I tried the Buffalo chicken and truffle hog and both were great. I picked up at closing and the staff were super friendly. I appreciated that even though it was the end of the night their customer service was great.

The food was extremely enjoyable. The pizza had a nice little crunch when you first bit in, and it was extremely enjoyable! Fresh ingredients, (trust me, you can taste them) and the service was great too. Second I walked in, he started recommending pizzas or sides, and wasn't overly pushy, either. The ambiance was also very nice, with pictures and photos of what I was guessing to be Sal, and the inside had this nice rustic cabin-y look to it, feeling very homely. Would come back!

Bruh, this place is legit! Find Sal's Pizzeria on Yelp and I'm beyond happy I tried them out. Terrific and personable service. Very friendly staff. Pizza was excellent, and I truly mean this. I'll definitely be going back there before my wife and I head home to Southern California. Great job, guys!

I've been here a couple of times now and the food has been great every time. The marinara sauce is rocking, pizza as close to NY style I have found here and calzone is delicious. The staff is so friendly and engaging I really recommend trying this little hole in the wall. You won't regret it!

Meatball Parmesan sandwich was so tasty and delicious! It tasted like pizza in a sandwich! I could not decide on which beer to try so the server allowed me to sample before choosing. I made my selection and I can't remember the name, but it was. So refreshing and helped wash down the delicious sandwich.

Just left Sal's Pizza in Cotati. We had a 12" meat pizza and a 12" veggie pizza and a green salad. Everything we ate was 5* delicious. Thin crust pizza, but not 'crackery'. The wet ingredients didn't sog out the bottom of the pie. Very good crust. The salad was a good sized salad, not dainty, with an excellent oil/vinegar dressing. Our waiter is a very nice guy named Roman; you can tell he enjoys his job; very pleasant fellow. The bill was about $50 for the two pizzas; we'll get 2 full meals for the two of us, so @ $12.50 for each meal; quite reasonable. Inside and outside seating, very clean. They have a happy hour special: one large slice and a 16oz beer for $12. Seems like a good deal to me. Enjoy!

I don't write many reviews, because I just don't have the time, but when I find a place like Sal's, I make time. I'm originally from New York and a bit of a pizza fanatic... The type that eats it for breakfast, lunch and dinner when I go home 3 or 4 times a year, and bring back 20lbs of it in my duffel bag every time, to stick in the freezer. Heard about this spot and was lucky enough to find myself in the neighborhood the other day and swung by to try it out. Was greeted by Anthony as soon as I walked in the door and knew right away by his knowledge and enthusiasm that he was the rockstar of this place. Food is going to speak for itself, but service unfortunately is something that is lacking nowadays. He told me all about the history and how everything was made, including their homemade Panna cotta. Saw on the menu that there was a chicken parm hero which I am always on the hunt for and decided to put the pizza on pause until my next trip. Started with a Caesar salad with nice crunchy croutons, and that signature tang of Caesar dressing that I love. Next was a pretty amazing chicken parm hero on a nice toasty piece of Italian bread and finished it off with the star of the show, some of the creamiest panna cotta that I am told is made in house and it shows. Life is too short to eat crappy food and I can't wait to get back to try the pizza...seriously

Had there pizza a few time already. The pizza has been good with fun takes on classic pizza and good ingredients. Overall food is 4/5. Service 3/5; Has been inconsistent at times. Ambiance 4/5; Good for a pizza shop that gets usually take out orders.

We decided to try sals pizza for an easy dinner and they were fast and close by. They were very friendly and easy to find in cotati near the bars. We got a half and half on a large pizza and the combination was good! The sausages are a must! They were delicious. The other half was ok but a little sour tasting for me with the olives and artichoke heart. I did think the salad was a little small too but was pretty good the croutons were bomb!

This place was amazing. Anthony greeted us as we walked in, very helpful with the menu. We ordered the pesto breadsticks and two pizzas, they were amazing! I wasn't sure what beer I wanted and Anthony was very helpful in helping me decide. The food was amazing. I can't want to return soon! :)

Pizza was excellent. I was told 25 minutes for pick up, I got there a little ahead of time, pizza was not only ready and boxed, the cheese had a consistency of cardboard telling me it was made, and put under heat lamps. Bummer. Other than that disappointment, it was really good. Next time I'll just go, order and eat it there.

Customer service is awesome. Food is awesome. Nice atmosphere. This will be a go to when I come to town to visit my daughter.

The service was excellent. The pesto twists were very good, however, they do not give out the recipe. The pizza was delicious. We were blessed with a couple of cannoli for our dessert. It very good. I would highly recommend Sal's pizzeria.

I love a New York style pizza but it was just ok. The edge of the crust was stiff and dry which was disappointing. It had minimal sauce and very little cheese. It might have been an off night but my first time ordering was less than I had hoped. I ordered online and picked it up and the pick up was easy, friendly and quick. It's a good alternative to the chain restaurant pizzas and I'll probably try a different type pizza next time.

Just got a Pizza! It's back open! Pizza is delicious and they've expanded their hours so they're open now for lunch. Give them a try for the rest of Football season!

I am so thankful Sal's re-opened last summer I believe. Both the food and service are incredible. We have had several different piazzas and each time they have been excellent.

Probably our favorite pizza joint. The only pepperoni pizza my daughter ever wants. Highly recommend

Everything here was amazing- food, service & vibe! Our server was extremely attentive & informative about the menu, food was amazing, with a nice selection of beer & wine. Can't wait to come back again & enjoy the atmosphere!

What can I say? The food was absolutely delicious. I am highly allergic to cheese which is hilarious but I got breadsticks, the arugula salad, and the chocolate cake. All three were out of this world. The place is adorable. It's small on the inside, but filled with personality. The service was the best part - it's not every day you come in with 40 hungry (and hangry) high school students and we all left happy and full. The owner was SO nice and accommodating - he even brought his own chairs from home to fit all of us in and outside of the restaurant. 10/10, I will make a stop at Sal's anytime I pass through the area. Even though I'm allergic to cheese. I think that's saying a lot.

Wish we would have taken a photo, but damn it was so good, that i forgot. This place serves up some of the best pizza in Sonoma County and quite possibly all of California. Service here is great, and now they've just added beer and wine. Great place to hang with friends and eat some yummy food

Food was excellent, service was amazing, professional, kind. Ambiance is super cute, spacious. They really are super nice and friendly and make amazing pizzas. Highly recommend. I also really appreciate that they sell by the slice and it's very affordable and filling! I filled my stomach under $10 thats hard to beat these days! Also provides ssu student discounts!

I'm an old man. I've eaten a lot of pizza and I've had pizza from just about every place in Sonoma County but this is the best. Sal's sauce is perfect, topping are first quality and the crust is just right.

We ordered 2 large pizzas to go. A combo and a meat combo with extra sauce and cheese and they were delicious. Everyone loved them.

Cotati's hidden gem if you haven't been here you're missing out!! Their pizzas, meatballs and lasagna are so amazing along with some great desserts and awesome beer on tap
