The Best Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Located inside the Midtown Global Market, Salsa a la Salsa specializes in central Mexican cuisine and makes its own gluten-free vegan chorizo. There are dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus with options like flautas filled with spicy potatoes, ceviche made from hearts of palm, and mole-topped enchiladas stuffed with plantains and cheese. Finish with the chocolate tamale and oat ice cream." - Stacy Brooks

What to Order for takeout from Midtown Global Market | Eater Twin Cities

"Using family recipes from Central Mexico, Salsa La Salsa’s entrée menu is mouth-watering, with spicy entrees, deeply rich stews, and bright salsas. Don’t skip desserts like the orange caramel flan or the chimi cheese, fried tortillas filled with sweet cheese and topped with a tangy raspberry sauce." - Alex Lodner

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing dining experience thanks to Jaqueline’s outstanding service! We enjoyed Pollo Poblano, Pupusas, and Fajitas, all of which were delicious. Jaqueline was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Her warm hospitality and professional demeanor truly enhanced our visit. High five to Jaqueline for making our dining experience memorable! Highly recommend!

Came here for lunch with a friend and was SUPER impressed with the food and drinks. There weren't many people in Midtown, so we got sat really quickly and service came quickly behind. The drinks were tasty, came out fast, and the food was right behind. Service was attentive and cheerful and managed to sell me dessert, which I usually skip. I'm happy I didn't this time around! Pictures show the food, and yes every bite was as good as it looks.

I've been coming here for seven years now and eat here probably once a month and have never been disappointed. The ingredients are always really fresh. Everything is homemade even down to the condiments. The portion are good so are the prices. I highly recommend the pork enchiladas with verde.

I was so very excited to try Salsa a la Salsa. I really wanted to love it but I'm reluctant to inform fellow folks that it just didn't hit the spot. Maybe it was an off day? The wait staff although nice, were not or did not seem happy ( no big loss in points here ) as they were not rude either, maybe it was a long day? We got a a mix of tacos, including chicken and veggie tacos with soy chorizo with cactus, and carnitas burrito. Overall I was expecting more in flavor and spices. I felt it was on par with Pineda, for flavor, but more expensive. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, it just didn't wow us to 4-5 stars either.

There are so many amazing choices for restaurants at the global market, I chose to try a new one today. I looked at the menu at Salsa a la Salsa and was impressed. I like to see unique items that you may net see anywhere else or new variations of classic dishes. I saw that we they offered 3 types of vegetarian tacos (grilled vegetable is the day, vegetarian chorizo and jack fruit). To tried the later two and lives them. As good as meat. The corn tortillas had great flavor and may be home made. I also tried their guacamole and it was perfect. Beans and rice were very good. Chips were ok. Salsas were all good and. Vert distinct from one another and tasty. I recommend trying Salsa a la Salsa for your next meal.

Incredible food and great atmosphere! The steak was perfectly cooked—juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Excellent service too. Can’t wait to come back!

Wow! Again!! Every time!!! I cannot believer it. I am expecting to be disappointed, one of these times, because it is so amazing every time, but I never am. Had an incredible Horchata to drink. I love Horchata, and they make a perfect Horchata. 5 Stars. I am vegetarian,. I can get ceviche again!!! Yes please. Amazing dish. Perfect. I can get tacos with real Mexican flavor. YES??? OMGoodness. the tortillas melt in your mouth, and the vegetarian meat they fill the tacos with. Put me on a street corner in Monterrey, in Cancun, in Agua Azul, in Chiapas, in Mazatlán. I feel like I am eating the real deal. This is REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food. So good. Every time. So impressed, again and again. Elvia and Alejandra. Thank you so kindly for my wife and myself!

My partner and I have been coming here for years as a weekly tradition. Each and every time we come, over all these years, we are greeted as family, particularly Bernabe and Jakelin. My favorite dish is the Enchiladas ala Salsa. And he enjoys the Shrimp tacos. The margaritas are second to none. After a long week, there is nothing better than being welcomed with a smile and the best service I've ever had.

Yelp
Located in the Global Market at Midtown Exchange Bldg salsa Ala Salsa is a wonderful Mexican restaurant with it's own tables in a much more closed off feeling area unlike others which share open walkways and tables there with other food vendors. We happened upon it during happy hour and took them up on their 2 for 1 margaritas. They were large, refreshing and delicious at just $7 for the two! Not being super hungry, we each ordered small side dish/Ala cart tostado which comes with bean and meat (I chose pork carnitas and it was great) and a single cheese enchilada. Those were just $5 and $4.50. Along with the small basket of chips and salsa, it was a great snack sized meal to accompany the lime margaritas. We weren't necessarily out to be thrifty but it was a pleasant surprise m to not have to waste a plate of rice and beans along with the entree, which are always too filling for me. Everything taste very fresh, notably the corn tortillas seemed freshly made. I'm hoping to go back soon!

Yelp
Wow, we hadn't eaten here since they were at their old location. Can't speak about ambience as we ordered through Uber eats. The food was crazy good - flavorful, fresh, bringing you joy in every bite. My husband's favorite was the quesadilla. The enchiladas were divine! I love how the trio comes in 3 different sauces. The food was packaged very carefully to stay fresh. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
So grateful for Kedar's review, because I would've given up had he not mentioned that it was inside the Global Market building. Guacamole was fresh and perfect. It was made simply with avocados, seasoning, and cilantro, just how I like it. I hate when places add tomatoes to their guac. Although $7 for that little dish made me wonder what the half order looks like. Complimentary chips, pico de gallo and a mild green salsa. Anything free these days is def applaudable. I ended up using these to make nachos with my salsa diabla, soy chorizo, guac, and lettuce shreds from my flauta plate. It worked perfectly for me since I never eat nachos with cheese (not even vegan cheese). So good! Soy Chorizo and Jackfruit Tinga tacos were good, but not amazing. However, when I dumped the fillings onto the tortilla chips with that diabla salsa and guac, it was a whole party in my mouth! Flautas de papa were delicious! 10/10 will order again! Everything was so fresh! Loved the music playing. Employees were very nice. FYI - Rice is made with chicken stock, so veg*ns avoid. Thanks again to my vegan buddy, Kedar, for another amazing recommendation. He never steers me wrong.

Yelp
I'm adding this place to one of my favorite Mexican places. Located inside midtown global market it's one of the biggest places you can sit down and enjoy your food. Starting with the house made chips and tomatillo salsa to the dessert everything was delicious. We ordered Chicken Enchilada platter with mole sauce which had a ton of flavor and Chicken Tamale platter which was delicious as well. We also asked for a side of their hottest salsa. Salsa just took the dishes to a whole different level of deliciousness. Ended our meal with a Flan. Service was great. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
A great little place at the Midtown Global Market. Reasonable prices, attentive service, delicious food! Came with my partner on a Tuesday night and we were one of two groups seated. Definitely recommend, they deserve your business

Yelp
Located inside the Midtown Global Market, Salsa a la Salsa is one of the larger food venues, with plenty of its own seating and a bar. It also has a bunch of labeled vegan options. We got the flautas de papa ($11) which aren't vegan by default, but can be made vegan if you ask them to omit the cheese and sour cream. These were fabulous: fried corn shells filled with potato and seasoning. The tacos veganos ($12) are made with jackfruit and vegan by default, as the name implies. I thought these were fine, but nothing spectacular. The tacos de soy chorizo y nopalitos ($3.50 per taco, if ordered outside of the main dinner plate) were much tastier. While the menu could be clearer and easier to indicate what's vegan or veganizable, the service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Minneapolis doesn't have a ton of spots with great vegan Mexican food (Hamburguesas El Gordo, El Camino Deli and Brasa are the only other good options), so I'm glad Salsa a la Salsa is around.

Yelp
Salsa A La Salsa located in Midtown Global Market. A friendly relaxed fall lunch. Food was fresh, hot and very filling. Service was excellent. Clean and comfortable. Fresh lime in the water makes me happy.

Yelp
SUCH good and fresh food. Holy moly -- I've not had a restaurant experience this impressive in over a decade!! The pico de gallo will knock your socks off, and the bar selection is especially noteworthy. Really pleased with the wick and courteous service too!!

Karla S.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants (ages ago) so I wanted to give it a try again! We ordered takeout and both got burritos. I LOVE how many vegetarian options they have and that you don't have to pay extra for these options. My soy chorizo burrito was tasty, although it definitely was "Minnesota Nice" in flavor profiles--not much heat or spice. Their guacamole on the side was a nice touch and complimentary chips and salsa! It seems when ordering takeout no one adds in chips and salsa anymore so I very much appreciate it when it happens. Overall decent option but have a bottle of hot sauce on hand if you like things spicy!

Yelp
Decided to try Salsa a la Salsa while visiting Global Food Market. The restaurant wasn't very full but we felt like most places in the market were kinda closing or closed and it was only 6pm. Anyway, Salsa a la Salsa was pretty good! When we were sat we were promptly given menus, water, and chips with salsa. The waitress was prompt and the other staff kept our water glasses full. The prices were fair per entree and the food was good! I ordered one of the combos which included a taco, a tamale, and a flauta (subbed) and it came with rice and beans or rice and veggies. I chose the rice and veggies. The meal was $14 and it was a good deal of food. I really enjoyed the tamale a lot, the taco was authentically prepared/dressed, and the flauta chicken was tender (sometimes flautas get dry/are overcooked). The rice did not taste Mexican there were like peas and carrots in it? But it wasn't bad just not Mexican? The veggies were healthy grilled vegetables which I liked. The waitress forgot an order of plantains for one of the friends I was with but she took them to go instead. I think we had an overall good experience regardless for the price and value of what we received. Would I call it completely authentic Mexican? No. But if you are okay with that (maybe to cater to general public) then it's fine, haha.

Yelp
If you try it ..you won't regret it!! The Soy chorizo and vegetarian tinga are delicious

Yelp
The food is amazing here! Got the Flauta with spicy potatoes and tamarind margarita which was so so so good!! This has become my favorite new mexican place! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
All three of us went to dinner tonight and had a truly memorable and excellent meal. We had not been to Salsa à la Salsa since they were on Nicollet Avenue and now I regret that we have been away for so long. I had the Pollo en Mole Poblano, H had the Pollo con Napolitos and J had the Tacos de Cameron. I'm a real fan of mole, but I don't always love every mole I have. This was one of, if not the, best moles I have ever eaten. It was absolutely sublime. I used my tortillas to sop every last drop of the exquisite sauce! The black bean tamal that came with my meal was as light as a feather and just melted in your mouth. H's chicken dish was flavorful and very tender, and the frijoles negro were expertly prepared. J tried both and said they were both delicious, but she really loved her shrimp tacos. The corn tortillas must have been freshly made - light, soft, perfect. H had the pineapple tamal for dessert and J and I had the orange flan. It was honestly the best Mexican food we've had in a very long time, and the best meal of recent memory. I honestly could have eaten that mole all night long. We won't be waiting nearly as long for a return visit. 10/10!

Yelp
Simple yet delicious. Decided to stop by global midtown market for lunch since I was in the neighborhood. With various lunch options, your hunger will be satisfied. Decided to keep thing simple for lunch; orders the Chile rellano, 1 steak and 1 carnita taco. The free chip, salsa, and green salsa are solid. The green salsa is flavored well. Chile rellano: to my surprise, it wasn't pre-cooked like most other Mexican restaurants. It was cooked by order; the tenderness of the Chile, velvety cheese deep fried with thyme, oregano is amazing. They top it with a ranch, tangy tomato sauce. This sauce is off the chart!!! I could've put this sauce on any dish or just dip it with bread and it will be fantastic. Arguably one of the best Chile rellano that I've ever ate in my life domestically and internationally. Taco: the steak taco was typical, nothing special. The carnita was tender, full of pork flavor and moist. I was a surprised since most carnita that I've ate is deep fried and doesn't offer the tenderness and moist like this one. Which causes me to assume that this carnita was bake/boiled with various seasoning instead of deep fried. Nonetheless, it was delicious. I wished I had more of the Chile rellano sauce to put on the tacos. Bad: for some reason, this restaurant doesn't validate parking ticket like other restaurants at global midtown market.

Yelp
OMG. OMG SO. DANG. GOOD!!! I was in the neighborhood today, and as always lately, craving fish tacos, so I got on Yelp and found this place. It's a dream come true! First of all, the fish tacos are PERFECT (And I would consider myself an aficionado). They come wrapped in two tortillas, with huge pieces of delicious, perfectly cooked fish, along with a giant slice of avocado (like seriously 1/4 of an avocado). But in addition to that, they actually have vegetarian and vegan menu options, which is amazing! We also had the soy chorizo tacos and two of the vegetarian tamales, as well as the potato flautas (drool worthy), and an order of guacamole. The guac, along with the homemade chips, were some of the best I've had, and that's including my husband's guacamole, sorry DH! Everything came with sides of delicious grilled vegetables (MMMM PLANTAINS!) and refried beans, as well as an assortment of sauces and salsas, gloriously living up to the name. I almost wish I hadn't found this place, because it is a bit pricey, especially for lunch. But I know we will be regular customers going forward! A suggestion for the business, I would love to see some lunch specials, you would definitely see us more often.

Yelp
We stopped back after visiting the market. I still like the option of sitting down. Ordered the taco salad which was good, but way too many beans in it. The pork- still so good. So moist and tender and well flavored. The shell was no too greasy either. I'm such. A creature of hair, I ordered the same thing before. Their side of rice is a perfect size. How do they get it so fluffy? J ordered the three enchiladas. Generous size enchiladas. Their coke tastes like diet coke. Perhaps their taps are bad or they just keep mistakenly serving diet coke.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoy a pleasant late Saturday afternoon lunch just after 3pm so we were able to also order happy hour two for one margaritas on the rocks and mojitos. Chips and salsa good. Really liked my ala cart chile rellano and chicken tamale. My husband ordered a nice looking quesadilla that quickly disappeared. Our waiter was very efficient and attentive without being annoying. Make sure you have time before or after your meal to walk around the Midtown market-the restaurant is inside of it. Park in the ramp behind the Midtown.
google avatar

Abel T.

Yelp
The food there are amazing and worth the price you pay for, portions are pretty generous, although I won't complain if they give me more rice or tortilla. If you don't know what to order, just ask the waiter, he is super friendly and give good recommendations!
google avatar

Yelp
Salsa A La Salsa is a restaurant located inside the Global Market. I was quickly greeted and seated right away. My server was very honest about what was exceptional and what was just ok- I so appreciate this! I had the burrito, and as promised it was good. They were a little skimpy on the guacamole (almost none) and sour cream that came with it so I ordered a side of guacamole. When you get to taste it you realize this guacamole is amazing- I am surprised they don't push it more! They charged me $3 for the guacamole side & I would have happily paid double. The only part that keeps this from a 5 star review is that service was SLOW and check ins didn't happen...I had to wave people down. That said they were all friendly and happy to help, you just have to ask for it.

Nikki E.

Yelp
Great vegetarian options, fresh options, friendly service. We will definitely come back! Thanks

Randy N.

Yelp
After reading multiple positive reviews my wife and I dines at Salsa A La Salsa and were less than impressed. While our waitress was pleasant the food was less than good. I had the Two enchillada diner while she had a chimichanga. Both left us disappointed and wishing we'd dined somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
The little spot in the midtown global market is great. The food was traditional and fantastic. I recommend the tacos and enchiladas. The service was fantastic as well. It really made the experience that much better. Plus the atmosphere here is amazing and gives you the authentic Mexican feel. Margaritas amazing and you get two for ones during happy hour.
google avatar

Julien J.

Yelp
The tortilla chicken soup is my go to for when my lady is not feeling so well in the tummy. But the full experience after coming here for around a year has me coming back ..... from the nachos to all the cuisine it's a good one in Minneapolis to go too.
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
I met friends here for a birthday lunch. The chips and salsa were good but the service could have been better. I ordered a lunch size salad and with tip it was $15. Not worth that in my opinion as it was average. With all the other Mexican places in the market I wouldn't come here again.

Erin T.

Yelp
FANTASTIC food for a party. We ordered Tacos and Enchiladas for 20 and it was amazing. Everything came packed with care, and Lorenzo even loaded it all in the car for me. Salsa Diablo, Jackfruit Tinga and Green Chicken Enchiladas are A+. Will definitely be ordering for our next party. SOOOOOO easy.
google avatar

Prachee M.

Yelp
Paloma and Margarita were both excellent. There's a whole variety of tequilas to choose from and we went with the waiter's suggestion for a 'smooth' one. He knew his tequilas. Complimentary chips came with a pico de gallo and salsa. Neither was very flavorful. On my request we got a spicier salsa but it still failed to bite. I no longer expect tomato sauces/salsas to impress me unless I'm at a gourmet place, which of course this is not. I got the camarones a la diabla: shrimp in a sauce of wine, butter, garlic, lime juice and chile de arbol. Served with corn tortillas. And I chose pinto beans and grilled vegetables for my side .The tortillas were slightly dry at the edges. But the diabla sauce was superb: complex and light, with an undercurrent of mild heat. My husband got the chicken chilpetin cooked with garlic, wine, chile pequin, and loved it. Don't let the VERY HOT next to it on the menu scare you. It is not. Even for Minnesotans. The flan was very average. Not smooth and rich like it should be when made with mostly yolks. Service and ambiance were pleasing. Parking is very convenient with the ramp across the street and validated parking. I'll come here instead of La Sirena Gorda, my absolute favorite in Midtown, only for the alcohol.
google avatar

Yelp
I moved from Minneapolis to Ireland this month and as far as Mexican food goes I am screwed. What they have here are burrito bars similar to Chipotle but nothing as fresh and delicious as A La Salsa. I am missing the tart jicama salad and the creamy, comforting chilaquiles. There were also the specials that we had catered during work parties held there. Small shrimp on plantain crisps for example. There is a pesto cream cheese stack served with crostini. Although I loved many of the Mexican restaurants around Lake Street for different reasons, when it comes to fresh and quality foods with flare I miss A La Salsa the most.
google avatar

Kay K.

Yelp
Free chips & 2 kinds of salsa. Happy hour is literally only an hour from 4-5pm and it doesn't include food. But if you're savvy, you can easily walk out full & satisfied for under $10 if you order from the a la carte menu. For example, 2 tamales are just $5. And it's actually decent sized. As long as you don't order alcohol, this place can be extremely affordable/cheap. That's why I give it 4 stars. Good value, if you go for a la carte!

Yelp
Ive always had good experiences here. The food is good, and the service is always nice and prompt. The first time I went there with my mom. We ordered cilantro chicken soup, and warm cactus grilled chicken salad to start. The soup was good and refreshing, the salad was interesting in a good way, but my mom didnt care for it. Then we ordered salmon tatemado (blackened salmon fillet on a bed of tomatillo and ranchera), and camarones a la diabla (sauteed shrimp in spicy salsa). Both dishes were a big hit. We loved both dishes a lot especially the shrimp. It was spicy but not too spicy that you cant taste anything else. Salmon was also good, but I thought it was a bit over done. My mom is a very picky eater when it comes to non-Asian food, but she really liked the food here (even more than Jax and WA Frost .. but my mom has her weird way of judging what she likes to eat though lol). The second time I went there with my bf. He's also a picky eater. I have to always be super careful when I pick a place for us to eat. We started with quesadillas. It was pretty yummy. We really liked it. Then I ordered the combo platter, and my bf ordered fajitas. Everything tasted good with generous portion. We ended up taking almost half of our dishes back home. There will definitely be a 3rd, 4th, 5th, ... times.

Yelp
I took a trip to the MGM on a Sunday because I ran out of the only pita bread I like at Holyland. I thought some brunch was in order, and remembered this was here. Huevos rancheros made total sense. Two perfectly cooked OE eggs on a thin tortilla with an orangish ranchero sauce tasted just fine. I had some chips with the pico de gallo. It's bland and I don't know if it's better when the tomatoes are in season. I like the hidden location away from the crowds, and it's a straight shot to the bathrooms. I'll update when I've had a non breakfast item.

Kristin K.

Yelp
This is my new favorite restaurant! We went for dinner on a Saturday. I had sautéed shrimp, and it was so good I wanted to take another one home. I also asked for a skinny girl Margarita. They didn't have them on the menu, but the bartender came over to the table and asked me how I would like it made. It was also perfect! Someone in our party dropped a bracelet under the table and the waiter found us after we left to return it. Overall, very kind people, and it shows in their food. I will be back!!

Cassie C.

Yelp
The food was amazing, the servers were friendly and very helpful. BONUS they had a vegetarian/vegan section on the menu and most of the food was easy to sub to make vegetarian or vegan. I couldn't believe the food was so good while also being vegan. I'll happily come back next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Margarita's!! Lunch was served with chips with Salsa's, excellent chips and Salsa! I ordered the Steak Chimichanga, it was really good but, a bit pricy (all the Chimichanga's are the same price you select the meat at the time you order) at $10.59.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with the Global Market. There's just nothing like it in town. A La Salsa is the only true sit down restaurant there and since I work nearby the girls in our office opted to try it out for lunch. The options on the menu seemed endless. I finally decided on the "taco meal" which included 2 tacos (hard or soft shell) served with veggies, rice or beans. I thought proportions were decent and the food was tasty. Our server wasn't the most friendly I've ever had and the ambiance could use a little help but all in all worth trying if you're hungry for some Mexican food. This location is convenient for me so I'd like to convince someone from work to make another trip here for happy hour (3-5 pm and 8-9 pm). They offer all kinds of drink specials. Margaritas and Mojito's ($4) and Sangria ($2.50). Or try a glass of Dos Equis for just $2....Quieres venir conmigo?
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
I am going here tonight!!! I love their Margaritas! Happy hour 3-5 and 8-9 I think. $4 house margs. I get the lime on the rocks. Two does ya good. Great flavor, not too sweet, perfect amount of lime, you can't get any better in my book, and if I find a better I will let you know. The food is good, but for some reason I never go there for the food i GO TO GET TIPSY.

Yelp
I just tried the MGM location for the first time yesterday. I live within blocks of Salsa A La Salsa on Nicollet, and we eat there pretty regularly, so I sorta knew what to expect (since the menu is the same). We were certainly pleased with the speed of service we received (which can be hit and miss at the other location). We were seated quickly, had chips & salsa brought immediately, and our drink orders were taken and delivered promptly. Since we were familiar with the menu, we didn't need any time to decide, so our server took our order when he came back with the drinks. The food was delicious, as usual. I had the enchiladas (both filled w/ tinga, 1 topped w/ ranchera, 1 topped w/ verde (green salsa)). The serving size seemed larger than normal, so I actually ended up with some leftovers :) Mike had the Pollo con Nopalitos (chicken w/ cactus strips)--that's his go-to dish. It's really big enough to split, which we occasionally do. On this particular day, it seemed like both our meals were larger than normal, which means more Mexican goodness for later! There's certainly no way I can complain about the prices considering the quality AND quantity of the food. It was less than 25 minutes from the time we parked to the time we finished eating--talk about fast! Our server was attentive the entire time and we were never kept waiting for anything. There were only 4 tables being served before we arrived (just before Noon on a Saturday), but by the time we left, twice as many were seated and the place was getting really busy. We will probably continue to visit the Nicollet location more often just because it's within walking distance, but it'll be hard not to choose A La Salsa over the other options when we're at Midtown if we continue to have experiences like this one. Note: Free parking (with validation) in the ramp to the West of the market on 10th Ave.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. I've been here twice and both times had very slow and poor service. TRY 15 minutes to even get a drink order! Last night I went with a large group and they wouldn't split up our bill which was really annoying since most of the people wanted to pay with different credit cards. Be sure to ask for separate checks beforehand if you need them! The food has always been decent, just slow to come out. I've tried the Mole chicken with was very rich and complex. I suggest splitting it because the portion size is large and it's too rich to eat too much of it at once. For a lite bite I had the chicken cilantro soup which was very authentic tasting. On the plus side it's the only restaurant open late in the mid-town global market!

Yelp
The food was ok, nothing amazing. The restaurant is divey, but cute. The prices seemed a bit high. The worst though, service was terrible! There were 2 other tables in the entire place and our server came by twice, completely forgot my drink, and never filled waters or checked on food! I will definitely not go back here, particularly since there are so many better, cheaper, and more authentic places throughout Midtown Global Market!!

Yelp
In short, their margheritas are absolutely just short of divine. The smoothest tequila with a perfect blend of goodness. The food was mediocre. But then again, I've had the best mexican so I'm spoiled.

Yelp
After living in Duluth for four years and not having much of a Mexican restaurant selection I was so happy when I found A la Salsa. The food is delicious and so flavorful. I love Mexican but am not a fan of spices and this place has great options for me! The prices are ideal and the staff is friendly and will be happy to answer all your questions about the menu. I have gone to this restaurant multiple times and have never left unhappy. The only downfall is the parking. It is all metered around the area so make sure to bring plenty of quarters.

Yelp
Couldn't ask for anything more-- we finally found good Mexican in the cities!! This place deserves way more than 3.5 stars. After trying a few Mexican restaurants in the suburbs, my boyfriend and I were beginning to think there just wasn't good Mexican food in Minnesota. Then we found A La Salsa!! SO good from start to finish. The chips are crispy and fresh and served with a pico de gallo and a green salsa, which were delicious. I had a strawberry margarita which was pretty sweet, which is just the way I like it. The service was incredibly friendly and fast. I ordered the Combo 2, which had a taco, tostada and tamale, plus two sides. A lot of (delicious) food for about $10. You get to pick what kind of meat -- or vegetables, I think -- you want on each item, and it was all super good, especially the barbacoa. The sides of spanish rice and refried beans were also exceptional. My boyfriend ordered shrimp enchiladas, which he liked a lot. So glad we finally found great Mexican food! We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
I'm torn because I really liked the service and atmosphere, however the mole I had was not my all-time favorite. If you prefer a subtle mole (is that a contradiction?) then this probably isn't your dish. Expect a lot of sauce. My friend's chimi, however, looked most excellent - and he finished it - so maybe that's a better bet?

Yelp
I give the food 5 stars. I had the salsa a la salsa enchiladas which comes with a 1/4 roasted chicken on the bone. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce with it was nice and spicy. The golden margarita tasted good, but really was way too sweet for my taste. The atmosphere still feels like you're in midtown market and not really at a restaurant. I really don't know of better place for "casual" mexican food in Minneapolis. we'll be back

Yelp
Nope, sorry A la Salsa not this time. While checking out the Green Gift's Fair at the Market this weekend we stopped in for lunch. I was in the mood for good Mexican food but A la Salsa just didn't deliver. Salsa was pretty mild :( doesn't anyone make it spicy any more? the horchata was pretty good but the chips were stale. i ordered the shrimp enchiladas and it came with re-fried beans and rice. The enchiladas tasted really fishy ... like bad seafood flavor. i wasn't sure what was up, if it was the shrimp or the enchilada sauce which wasn't the deep red I'm used to. neither tasted bad alone but when put together it was a flavor i just couldn't muster. i didn't get sick so I'm sure the fish wasn't bad but it did taste awful! My boyfriend had the spicy chicken quesadilla and he ate it with no complaints but said it wasn't anything at all special. Service was good, food not so much

Yelp
Wow... I got take out last night and it was incredibly fast and delicious. For $11, I got enough food for three meals! I ordered the Pollo en Mole Poblano and it was delicious. My take out came with a generous serving of rice, chips & salsa (green and red), and then my entree which was a 1/4 chicken (moist, perfect, delish) and two huge black bean tamales. Unbelievable. The bartender two took and brought me my order was friendly and personable. Outstanding!

Yelp
Best Mexican I've had in a long time! We had the Pupusas for an app, light corn cakes with cheese in through middle and a slaw on top delicious! Enchiladas were probably the best in the cities! I enjoy spicy food, and it is very mild here, but the flavors are right on.

Yelp
Really great margs. Really great food. Very fresh. Just a bit pricey but well worth it due to everything tasting homemade and made from scratch.

Yelp

Yelp
Picked this spot randomly while in the Global Market. The salsa was excellent and I ordered from the a la cart menu. All of the food was really fresh and delicious.

Yelp
I love the Salsa a la Salsa on Eat Street, but their Midtown Global Market location didn't live up to my expectations. My enchiladas were okay, but nothing special, the service was somewhat lackadaisical, and the ambiance was pretty non-existent. it's a decent place to stop if you're roaming around the Global Market but, personally, I'd rather drink a margarita and people watch on their Eat Street patio.
