"Salsa Rosada is the second fast-casual venture from Mandy Estrella and Bradley Payne, the folks behind Mayo Ketchup, renowned for its Puerto Rican and Dominican cuisine. This new venture sets itself apart by focusing on Venezuelan and Colombian dishes, taking its name from the latter region’s version of mayo ketchup. Notable dishes include arepas (crispy corn patties stuffed with various fillings) and patacones (sandwiches made with flattened, twice-fried plantains instead of bread). The empanadas, sourced from St. Charles bakery Pan Pa’ Ti, are golden brown pockets of goodness available in both savory and sweet varieties. Don’t miss the kan-kan chuleta if it’s on special; the oversized pork chop is perfect for sharing, so consider bringing a friend or three to help tackle it." - Holly Fann, Joel Crespo

Excellent place to go in midtown when you want great food with no wait. Good quality, no frills food. Basics done well. The ambiance is fast casual.

Hi guys this is the crochet lady, I wanted to let you guys know this restaurant has a very inviting atmosphere. The owners were amazing they talked with us let my husband speak about his island of Puerto Rico. We are super excited to come visit again and can't wait for the merge. And the lady in the kitchen. Gracias por dejarnos sentir como estuviernamos en casa. DLB THE CROCHET LADY FROM FT LEONARD WOOD

We ordered the Ground Beef/Potato Empanada. NOT homemade, but rather canned corn beef hash stuffed in the dough. NOT flaky; NOT crispy! Taste like commercial frozen food. St. Louis natives may not know foreign food, but we definitely know authentic Venezuelan food! Pissed off that these people would take short cuts and the nerve to charge expensive prices! UPDATE: It's very clear from the pic that the inside of that empanada is corn beef hash, that is NOT authentic cooking. Why is it pink inside?

Google
This is a great spot to stop for some quality food. They have a great menu with many options, which was awesome! Here’s what we ordered: Tostones Rellenos, Pernil Bowl, Shredded Beef Cachapa, Black Beans & Rice, and Aguapanela. Dinner was about $25 per person before tax and tip. I feel like we definitely left full and satisfied after trying this great restaurant. Also, for those with gluten allergies, you can eat here with confidence.

Google
At the beggining was a little confusing cause we did not realize that we should order at the counter. We ordered so many plates and everything was delicious! The plates were bigger than we thought. So much bigger. The arepas were fantastic! The space is very cool.

Google
Stopped here on my way through the city from out of state. Looked for a small business to support. This place hit the spot. Delicious, simple eats. The chicken bowl is amazing. I left over stuffed. My kids had a Cubano and the Venezuelan hotdog. Big hits with them as well. I avoid gluten and was able to find multiple things I could have eaten here.

Google
Loved this place! Very nice location, great service, and phenomenal food. Their bar also had many great options. Highly recommended. I will be coming to Salsa Rosada when the latin food cravings kick in for sure!

Google
The food served here is of good quality. The service provided was average. We ordered their special dish, Kan Kan Chuleta. The pork belly was crispy and delicious, although it was a bit pricey, but it was worth the experience. When we visited, it was not a full-service restaurant; you had to order from the cashier, seat yourself, and the food would be delivered to your table. I would not mind returning to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Venezuelan option in midtown St. Louis. Plantain girl is super kind. It is easy and works when you want to dine in and hang out but also don't have an extended amount of time. You order at the counter and food comes out soon. They have fresh juice options. An order of Yuca or shoestring fries is a must for the table to pair with your sandwich or bowl. Plenty of sitting and the food is fabulous.

Yelp
Finally made it to Salsa Rosada, which has been on my list since it openedl! I love Mayo Ketchup so had high hopes for Salsa Rosada and it did not disappoint. You order at the counter then take a seat and they bring the food out. I had the vegan chicharron de pollo which is chicken-fried oyster mushroom with rice, beans, and maduros. It was all amazing and the chicharron was like nothing I've had before. I also ordered the guava and cheese tequeño which was to die for. Portion size was great, I had leftovers to take home. The inside can get a bit noisy, but we were able to find a quiet spot.

Kacie S.

Yelp
big portions, filling, and tasty! Played good music, the inside is bright and welcoming. My food came out really quick!

Rena G.

Yelp
Four stars for the food! Delicious food really. The chicken in arepa was delicious. Three stars for the process. It took so long to wait in line and order. Then another long wait for the food. I also heard more than one party complaining about having to get back in line to order a drink. The ambiance outside doesn't match inside. Inside is nice and neat and I think more could be done to bring attention to the front doors. If we hadn't been looking for it we wouldn't have seen it. I encourage you to hire more cooks to get the food out faster or whatever you need to do but the timing was really disappointing and can ruin a business. I could see lots of pained faces looking for food. But the food is so good and staff so nice it's a shame to see timing be the issue.

Chad W.

Yelp
In town for work and me and couple crew guys came upon Salsa Rosada. First off everyone who worked there was very friendly. And the food was outstanding! I had the shredded flank steak with black beans and rice. So good! If I was here for another day I would for sure go back for the Kan Kan. Amazing spot!

Mishell H.

Yelp
Tried this place Thursday night prior to a show. Didn't even know this place existed but my friend found it! Food was delicious, I ordered a beef empanada, tje pernil bowl and a passion fruit margarita. All the food was delicious! Service was great too! Everyone at the restaurant was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant's decor was cute and homey. It was not a lot of bells and whistles, which was nice! Will def visit again!

Güneş Ö.

Yelp
First time here. I tried their Venezuelan hotdogs which was beef hotdog loaded with shoestring fries, cabbage, mayo, ketchup. It was interessanté. Coconut Sangria doesn't have any alcohol in it, or maybe there was a hint of it. Yuca fries were good. Service was fast. Overall it is just OK food. Looks like this place is South-North American fusion, not fully authentic. I may come back to try their Empanadas - hopefully they are authentic.

Yelp
Been to Mayo Ketchup and received an email for a brunch buffet at Salsa Rosada. They had unlimited mimosas but it was the day after Mardi Gras so we weren't drinking. The brunch consisted of foods from 5 different Latin American countries. The food was very good. Lots of dishes we've never tried before. It would've been nice to know what dishes came from what countries. There were hot and cold foods. Juice, fruit and desserts. Lots of vegetarian options. It was all you can eat so $45 a person was fair. Everyone was friendly and the service was great. I definitely want the try Salsa Rosada's regular menu. The reviews are fantastic.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Parking was surprisingly easy to find directly in front of the restaurant on a weekday night. They also offer $5 off your order if you need to park in the SLU garage. I love that they offer of mix of dishes from Mayo Ketchup but have also introduced a variety of fun and exciting new items, which of course I had to try! The Bunuelos were a soft, pillowy delight. I could eat these all day! The arepas were packed full while still presented beautifully. Crispy soft goodness! Patacone (Plantain sandwiches) was delicious and a generous portion size as always. Next time I need to try the appetizer sampler platter, it looks to literally be a little bit of everything

Hannah U.

Yelp
¡DeliciosO'! We will be back to try more things! The Milanesa sandwich was the perfect thing to split And So Good!!

Daryl S.

Yelp
We ordered takeout from here and it was very quick to be prepared. I thought they would be a bit busy on a Saturday night with a soccer game, but it was easy to find a parking spot right out front and it was not crowded at all inside. I ran to the bathroom before grabbing the food, but it was all a very seamless process! My husband got a cubano and an empanda and I got the shredded beef bowl. The food was hot and delicious and had some good flavor. I would definitely want to come back here to eat there.

Scott W.

Yelp
A wonderful place, specializing in Venezuelan / Colombian cuisine. For an entree I recommend the Cachapas (beef was delicious). Their Arepas are cooked perfectly and a side of Yuca Fries are worth a try. Their Arepas Queso Fritos with pineapple sauce were a great start. Don't miss the Nutella Empanadas and Guava Sauce as desert. The crust for these was flaky and light. A real treat to end a wonderful dinner experience, close to The Fabulous Fox and Chaifetz Arena, across the street from Pappy's. They are going to move their other restaurant Mayo Ketchup next door sometime in 2025. South American comfort food made by chefs who know!

Erin U.

Yelp
As a big fan of Mayo Ketchup, I've been wanted to try Salsa Rosada for a while. It did not disappoint! You order at the counter, and I got a passion fruit margarita, a ground beef empanada, pork arepa and a side of plantains. So much food! The empanada was large and piping hot and the arepa stuffed full of pork. They have bottles of mayo ketchup and a cilantro sauce to add. And the margarita was so light and fresh. Great meal! We were there for an early dinner, so it wasn't too busy and the food came out quick, but it was starting to fill up as we left. You can call for reservations.

Whitney S.

Yelp
Salsa Rosada has it all - delicious food, fun drinks, a great patio, and a cool overall vibe! The new Venezuelan restaurant from the mastermind behind Mayo Ketchup has somethjng on the menu for everyone! Online ordering & Street Parking. MY FAVS: Empeñadas, Jackfruit Arepa. Grilled Chicken Bowl

Jasmine H.

Yelp
I heard about this new restaurant from the owners of Mayo Ketchup and I was excited for this new venezuelan restaurant to open, especially after they expanded their menu. They now have a wide array of Colombian and Venezuelan dishes. For my first time ordering from the restaurant I did carryout on their website and ordered the steak cachapa and chocolate tres leches. They messed up on the steak cachapa and gave me a cheese cachapa instead. After calling the restaurant and telling them they quickly fixed the issue, so I was glad about that. In the future I think they could add onto the cachapas and include different toppings like some type of sauce and queso fresco, it was good overall but has potential to be even better. I was a little disappointed with their chocolate tres leches. The flavor was good but it didn't contain the milk sauce throughout the entire cake like it should have, only the bottom was moist but the top and middle was not. I will go again and give it another try because I still like the concept of the restaurant and they are still a new restaurant, so I'm sure they're still making improvements and working out the kinks.

Yelp
I am so glad this spot has opened in midtown! It's another great spot for me to visit during the work week and it's a short walk from my office which is even better! My friend and I took a walk down there this past Friday and since we got there a little before noon, it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by the woman behind the counter and she offered some recommendations for us. I knew I needed to order a bunch of items so I just started ordering whatever sounded good to me. Once we ordered, we were given a number and then we grabbed a table. While we waited, we grabbed some napkins, silverware and water. A few minutes passed by and one of the cooks came out to drop off some of the items. He joked that we would need a bigger table since we had so much food! He wasn't joking. We really did have just about 1 of everything and it was all so good! I really liked the empanada with cheese, the cheese was gooey and the pastry was so soft flaky. I also really enjoyed the cheese and guava item, anything with guava is something I order so I was glad to see this on their menu. Yuca fries were also a hit with the dipping sauce and not to mention the maduros for a little sweet treat at the end of the meal. This was all so flavorful and fresh. I cannot wait to go back! Mandy was walking around when we were there so we chatted briefly and I thanked her for opening this spot. I really hope it can be successful so that it can stay around for a very long time! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the decor is quite simple and nice. I definitely encourage you to visit soon.

Yelp
What are these cheese pillows you call queso frito? Salsa Rosada is a new Venezuelan and Colombian restaurant by Mayo Ketchup. The food and atmosphere was amazing. We got: Queso Frito Cheese Empanadas Cheese Taquenos Jack Fruit Arepas Fritas Vegan Bowl Nutella Donut & Cream Donut Try this place out! It was delicious.

John K.

Yelp
Excellent! I tried the Pernil, oven roasted pork with white rice, black beans and plantains. The pork was seasoned nicely and was very tender. Great tasting and very filling. You go up to the counter to order then they bring your food to your table. There's plenty of available street parking. The restaurant has patio seating in back. There's 4 individual gender neutral bathrooms and one sink in the hallway. I found the design efficient. We couldn't leave without trying the empanadas with chocolate Nutella. Wow, that was good.

Elaine S.

Yelp
Salsa Rosada continues to delight with new additions to their menu and daily specials. The staff is so friendly and service is fast. We just love coming here. I was able to try their cachapa recently and what a treat - the corn pancake was bursting with fresh corn flavor and bits of corn and the cheese that accompanied it made it such a rich combo. I could eat just the pancake by itself without filling and be happy. I haven't had a cachapa since I sought out a popular Venezuelan restaurant in playa del Carmen 10 years ago. So to have it accessible here at home in STL was such a treat. This place continues to be such a gem in STL.

Joseph H.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks , that were served hot and quickly. I visited the restaurant with a number of work colleagues to expand their lunch selection. I loved the Pabellon bowls, and the arepas reminded me of a past trip to Colombia. I definitely will be back, or at least order to go for those easy lunch days.

Natalita L.

Yelp
It's a bit on the pricey side but if you miss good from your home country (Venezuela) it will satisfy the crave.. food was tasty and the service was very friendly. I will be back.

Annie S.

Yelp
Great food! Definitely recommend coming here. The service is great-just order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Ambiance is easy and casual. The dishes are all excellent. The meat is always so flavorful and moist and tender. The chicken milanesa sandwich has fried cheese on it and a great sauce. We got the sampler to split between four people and we also each got an entree and it was PLENTY of food. Generous portions.

Dan H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic food, great service and vibe. We've eaten here a few times and I'd say it's equally good as it's outstanding sister spot Mayo Ketchup, just a different part of Latin America (Venezuela/Colombia vs. Puerto Rico/Dominican Republic). This is one of the most gifted chefs in the St. Louis area, and prices are super reasonable. Most recently I had the Kan-Kan Chuleta special: 4 cuts of pork slow-cooked and fried, very hard cut to find here. It was mind-bogglingly good--pricey but worth it, and very large so 2+ people could share it. Easily the best pork dish I've ever had--I'd given up on restaurant pork chops b/c they're usually so dry and tough--not this!

Keith P.

Yelp
Split the sampler and grilled chicken bowl between my girlfriend and I. The bowl was amazing and our favorite in the sampler were the mini beef empanadas. It was a lot of food between the two of us we didn't even finish! The employees are friendly and the place is modern yet cozy. Worth a try!!

John H.

Yelp
Honestly, Salsa Rosada might be my favorite restaurant in St. Louis. It's just so delicious. Just had the Pernil Bowl for lunch and the pork, plantains, rice and beans were perfect.

Doug M.

Yelp
Huge portions stuffed with tons of ingredients and flavor. Ordered pepito mixed (marinated steak and chicken, shredded cabbage, tomatoes, panela cheese, ketchup, garlic mayo, mustard, cilantro sauce, potato sticks on pan canilla) and shredded Beef Patacon [carne mechada] (twice fried green plantains, Pabellon beef, shredded cabbage, panela & cotija cheese, cilantro sauce, garlic mayo]. These were both huge and incredibly flavorful. Meat was tender and juicy. You could split the patacon between two people for a lunch. Well worth the stop.

Andrea P.

Yelp
Since Mandy had my previous review removed, the owner (female) is a rude woman who provides terrible service to customers. When inquiring about catering for a large party, Mandy decided to state she hoped our party was a failure and called us grotesque words after asking for a discount. I've heard several other stories about her treating customers this way, do not support this business!!!!

Brian F.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and had a nice conversation with the owner. Food was delicious. Simple and well executed. It was trivia night, but we had tickets to a show and had to leave before it started. We'll definitely be back.

Jolena S.

Yelp
The 2nd restaurant from the fantastic Plantain Girl Mandy and her cohort Brad. We're fans from way back when they were doing bar pop ups. No surprise from their reputation for quality that the food was delicious, service was friendly, restaurant was clean and well decorated. Fell in love with the cilantro garlic sauce!!

Joan R.

Yelp
Went here last night before a concert. We ordered ahead of time on their website so it would be ready but there were plenty of open tables so we ate there. Everyone loved their food. I have been wanting to try this place since they opened and was not disappointed. My daughter and I had two of the vegan options which were tasty. We got one of the vegan cheese empanadas and I forgot to take a picture since I was so anxious to eat it. Very friendly staff, cute and clean large dining area. Bathrooms were clean. Paid Street parking available.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and very original. Highly recommend. We got the Cuban sandwich and a pork arepa, everything was amazing, hot and super fresh

Ike E.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best pre-show meals we've ever had - KanKan Puerto Rican Pork Chops, plantains, rice and beans and sweet plantains. Unbelievable.

Wstim R.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent place to go out for dinner. Definitely worth the stop, food was fresh and authentic

Frances A.

Yelp
I've been a long time fan of Mayo Ketchup, so when they told me they had a new restaurant I knew I had to try it. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Salsa Rosada is bringing a taste of Latin America to midtown. The arepas tasted great, and I could happily eat my body weight in those tequeños. I also love the location, plenty of space and a good place to catch a game of futbol.

Michele F.

Yelp
Beautiful quiet outdoor space. Love it. Dog friendly. Service was amazing. The staff = so so sweet. Food was great. Super authentic. Can't go wrong.

Leslie J.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. So many amazing flavors combined. I love that you can make dairy free and have gluten free but still can add meat! Lots of cool menu items. Awesome space. And the owner is amazingly friendly!!!!

Brad P.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Staff is very friendly and the space is clean and inviting. Great cocktail menu also.

Cindy G.

Yelp
The food was delicious! We had the black bean and jackfruit arepas. They had separate sauces to accommodate a vegan diet. The plantains were perfection. They were so good that you can eat them as desert but we also had the Nutella empanadas. Highly recommend the Nutella empanadas. They were perfectly flaky with the perfect amount of gooey Nutella. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we were there around 12:30-1. Quick to sit and get your lunch!

Caroline W.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious bowls. You will not be disappointed by this place! They have a wide variety of items and all are incredible

R P.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick bite to eat, the food is affordable, the ambiance is nice, everything is extremely clean. This isn't fine dining, but it is an excellent alternative to the one thousand burger joints around. Two suggestions for management: 1) consider adding some pictures to the menu since most of the gringo clientele does not know what an arepa or a tequeno, or a cachito is and 2) would you be open to adding cachapas to the menu? We will be repeat customers for sure.

Elyse R.

Yelp
Amazing food, quick service, good drinks. Would go again for sure. The guava and cheese tequenos were to die for

Margaret K.

Yelp
This place is great! The atmosphere is cool and comfortable and the staff is attentive. We've been twice now and the food is fantastic. Between the two visits we had the grilled arepas, fried arepas, empanadas, and Nutella empanadas. The fillings for all were top notch and paired with crispy exteriors. Honestly, I took a bite of the fried beef arepas last night and thought "I don't remember the last time I have had something so delicious and satiating". Make sure to ask for the aji picante sauce when ordering to pair with your arepas. It is like a thin, spicy salsa/chimichurri with fresh ingredients and it perfectly balances out the rich fillings and tasty fried (or grilled!) flavors. Check out the drinks in the cooler for fruity offerings like guava lemonade or passion fruit juice.

Webster N.

Yelp
We went with 8 people in a Friday night to try out this fun Columbia inspired menu. The food is great, reasonably priced, and fun to share. Highly recommend.

Kris G.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal. Arepas, bowls, sandwiches all were great. Salsas, sauces, and drinks were also on point. My family enjoyed ourselves after Bluey at the Fox. Kid friendly. Clean. Would absolutely go back and encourage anyone looking for great Venezuelan/Columbian cuisine to stop in.

Craig S.

Yelp
All home made from scratch food. It was delicious. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend!!
