The 7 Best Dishes We Ate In March - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"LoJo’s Tacos is a breakfast taco pop-up that operates out of Avedano’s Meats in Bernal Heights. Their tacos are filled with things like bacon, flavorful chorizo, eggs, and avocado, all tucked into thick flour tortillas and topped with house-made salsas. They’re optimally located right next to Holly Park - so you can pick up breakfast (and coffee from Pinhole next door) before heading over." - team infatuation

What joke. I ordered a regular steak burrito $19 and a coke $5 . What a bland burrito. From the beginning I asked for a regular burrito then he kept pushing if wanted a super.Twice I kindly declined.I guess I’m just price shocked.A in burrito in Alameda is $12 and full of flavor.Salsalito Taco shop likes likes to take advantage of people I guess.

I've been meaning to write this review for about 6 months now, but here we are! I just wanted to thank the whole team from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful experience doing the hosted Taco Bar for our wedding on the houseboat! From start to finish everyone was awesome and the food was top-notch! We had blindly booked you guys without trying your food first as we live internationally and were ecstatic with what we recieved. Big, big thanks for making our special day even better! Big thanks from Sweden! -Coleman + Sofia

We came here back in 2018 to meet family for lunch and we fell in love! Authentic Mexican delight! We loved it so much that while passing through, we had to stop here again to grab some tacos and fajitas! 🫶🏼 Wonderful service & so clean ❤️

I wanted to love this place as I’m a huge fan of Mexican food. I read the reviews and noticed a few said that the food lacked flavor and they were right. I ordered a fish, steak, and shrimp taco and all 3 lacked flavor. The fish was battered and tasted like water, the steak was over cooked, and the shrimp was overpowered by burnt peppers and onions. The corn tortillas weren’t great either. I’m so glad I filled up on their excellent tortilla chips with pico de gallo. My husband and my friend liked their meals but mine was certainly sad. As cute as the restaurant was and the atmosphere was great, I will not come back. For 3 of us it was $146 in tacos & burritos. This is insane pricing for disappointing food.

Google
I remember this place being so delicious 😋 (it was 10 + years tho). Today was different. I do have to say that the food was very fresh but unfortunately it lacked flavor… I had fish tacos and a cochinita taco. The slaw for the fish taco was super fresh but no seasoning is was more like shredded cabbage:( the cochinita also needed a little help. Def had to ask for some hot sauce to spice things up a bit. So all in all food/ingredients are great but def ask for some salt and hot sauce and some lemon/lime. It’s $23 for 3 tacos. Service was great and environment good across the street from the water.

Google
Place is a little bit small and there is not many tables to sit, but had a great view near the main street. The tacos fresh and good. The nachos were great and it's sauce was fresh and tasty. It was nothing very special about this place, just a good spot to stop by for lunch while passing the street or back from the beach.

Google
Food is not that great. It's very bland and has no taste at all. Also ordered the passion fruit tea, which also has no taste to it. Water without ice and not cold at all unless you ask for the ice. Service and atmosphere are good.

Google
Great service the fajitas were very tasty ordered the shrimp and steak. The tortilla soup was very tasty it was more of a broth base and I loved it. It had excellent flavor. The guacamole tasted more store bought. Overall great location and excellent service.

Yelp
We stopped by after an endless search for a restaurant that didn't have a 20+ minute wait for seating, and wished we'd come here first. We ordered takeout because it took so long to get here: two chicken burrito bowls for the kiddos, and they were absolutely perfect: shredded chicken, black beans and rice. We were also able to use their restroom, which was clean, and made taking our 4y/o a lot easier. Our kids demolished their bowls, and we no longer had hangry kiddos.

Yelp
Pretty solid spot for a quick lunch in Sausalito. After walking around the pier we were hungry but needed to catch a ferry back. I got a hibiscus margarita which was great and really refreshing with the hibiscus tea added while my friend got the sangria. Sangria was a bit watered down and flavorless. For food, I got the fried fish and sausalito (stir fried shrimp) tacos with rice and beans on the side. Tacos were solid and the rice & beans pretty flavorful. My friend is vegetarian and be warned they don't have good vegetarian options as we didn't see anything that was mushroom or tofu based for protein and he ended up getting a veggie tostada which was basically a tostada with lettuce and refried beans. The patio is nice to sit outside on a sunny day and overall not a bad choice for an easy lunch in Sausalito, especially when other options can get pricer.

Yelp
What a warm and welcoming place! Excellent service and great ambiance and food. We really enjoyed our micheladas.

Yelp
The staff are amazingly friendly and accommodating. Foods are so good. The best salsa verde ive ever had. The place is so beachyyy. Only thing is tables are too close to each other, just hard to move around but we still had a great time.

Yelp
We love their tacos, homemade salsas and margaritas! Outdoor patio is very nice. Our go-to restaurant in Sausalito.
google avatar

Yelp
With patio and outdoor seating, this taqueria is a short bike ride or walk from the ferry. The service was excellent, friendly waitstaff bilingual in Spanish and English. We got the three taco special and the shrimp quesadilla. Both of us loved the quesadilla and my friend preferred the carne asada tacos whereas I like the Baja tacos best. They bring out a little sauce platter with crema too which is nice. Without the salsa the tacos were not heavily seasoned but the salsa was good and spicy. Between the two of us it was about $25/person plus tip, so this is definitely more of a sit down and have a pleasant meal kind of taco shop with a Sausalito vibe. They had a chile relleno special with crab meat but it was $38 so I held back. I would come back and try more seafood items.

Marcela V.

Yelp
I am sad!!!!!! The reopening brought substandard food, the tortilla soup was more like tomato soup. The meat in the tacos was chewy and poor quality. The beans were just can beans. For what they charge they completely are disrespecting customers with their food offerings and presentation. I am local, the kind that would support the business all year round. Well........ not anymore.

Yelp
This place is great all around. The staff is so friendly and genuine with guests and with each other. They always have upbeat but not obnoxious music. Great view and very solid food. Most recently I had the taco trio (baja fish, baja shrimp, and salsalito shrimp). They were all fantastic, fresh, flavorful, and it was the perfect amount of food. It is a little spendy for a taco joint but that should be expected with the location and ambiance. An added bonus, their bathroom is not only clean but actually quite nice and very well maintained.

Yelp
After a long hike at Mt Tam, STS came in clutch. They were able to accommodate our group of 12 people. They even brought over the heat lamp for us. The service was good, food and drinks came out quick. I only tried one of their salads and it wasn't bad. The chips were made in house and the guac was great. Prices are about average for the area Street parking only

Yelp
A solid 3 star spot based on the food alone. We ordered 4 tacos, one was great, one was good, and two were pretty meh. I liked that they had the option to order tacos as a duo, trio, or as a plate, though the pricing didn't change as you got more or ordered a combo. There also weren't free chips, which is always a bummer, because what is dining at a Mexican restaurant without the chips? We ordered a taco duo and the perfect plate with the intention of having two tacos each and sharing the rice and beans. When the food came they also dropped off two salsas and some crema - unsure if this comes with all taco orders or just the plate. Great taco was the Taco De Pescado, this one was full of flavor and had plenty of crispy fish. Good taco was the Taco De Carne Asada, this one was loaded with beef and had a touch of spice, on its own it needed a little something more, but a spoonful of salsa and crema did just the touch to elevate this one. Meh tacos were both of the shrimp tacos, neither was really showing much flavor. The grilled shrimp taco got most of its flavor from the grill marks on the onion, but as soon as the flavor of the grill evaporated, which was very quick, the flavor was gone. Veggies for sure could've used some salt. The salsa and crema helped this one out a little bit, but it wasn't a $7 taco. Service was good and food came out quick. There was limited outdoor seating as well as "indoor seating" that still felt outside due to the wide open windows. We opted for the inside as it still felt outdoors, but gave you shade and more space. The vibe here was colorful and vibrant, with liveliness from the street and music. Wouldn't come out of my way to come back here, but if I did come back I'd order the Taco De Pescado and then try something non-taco related.

Yelp
The fish tacos and shrimp tacos were greasy. Cute place with friendly server. Note chips and salsa were an additional charge and the margaritas were wine based , not tequila

Yadira M.

Yelp
Fish taco was ok, Shrimp taco unflavored and steak taco super greasy , totally no recommend. Habanero salsa ok but $3 per very tiny portion. It place charge every separate and charge a non cash adjustment fee on top. Plus tips I didn't like it. The service wasn't good. The outside view was nice.

Yelp
My wife and I frequent Sausalito a lot, and always drive by this place which usually has a line and a decent crowd. After spending time at Stinson, we dropped by Sausalito before heading home and found this place to be pretty quiet, so we decided to finally give them a try. Unfortunately, it did not come close to what I had hoped for. First off, service was solid. It's in a great location, with a nice cozy patio which is where we were seated. First thing I noticed were the prices were surprisingly high, even with it being located in Sausalito. $7 for stale chips & salsa and $20 for a carne asada burrito is kinda wild IMO. Altogether we ordered a chicken quesadilla w/rice & beans, chips & salsa, and a burrito. No drinks, only water. With tax & tip, we walked out of there spending $76. That to me is pretty crazy, especially since the biggest problem with this restaurant was a literal lack of flavor. If you're going to charge that much, make it taste like it's worth it. Pretty much everything, with the exception of the shredded chicken in the quesadilla needed salt and just seasoning in general. The rice? No flavor. The beans? No flavor. The carne asada burrito? Surprisingly enough, no flavor. Even the salsa itself was bland. It was crazy to me how basically everything we ate needed more flavor. This same food I could get at my local taqueria with significantly more flavor for probably $35 at most. Save your money. With that said, the only reason why I won't give this a 1 star rating is because the seating was nice, the chicken quesadilla was decent, and the service was good.

Yelp
Decided to visit beautiful Sausalito after our hike and stumbled upon this popping gem. Not too sure why the ratings on Yelp aren't as high, so I'm glad I found this spot the old fashioned way because this was a great experience! The staff and vibes were just fun and vibrant. And as for the food, the snapper fajitas and skinny shrimp tacos was tasty! I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food or authentic but it's still good. The drinks along with chips and salsa/ guac were so good on a warm day (the red salsa was bomb!) Also they're dog friendly!
google avatar

Lalita D.

Yelp
Fantastic place with a really cute ambience, good food, and friendly service! Food is fresh with good vegetarian options.
google avatar

Zoe C.

Yelp
Warning: there is no tequila here!! Or vodka. Only agave wine and soju. Even in the margaritas. Salsa tastes store bought, not made in house. Chicken taco is good but shrimp taco was mid, immediately needed salt. The rice was super dry and plain. Spicy beans were our favorite part.
google avatar

Yelp J.

Yelp
Meh .... average and waaaay overpriced. Total super overpriced tourist trap. The location of the restaurant and the service was good. I swear the black beans were straight from can to plate.

Yelp
We stopped in on a beautiful day after walking Muir Woods and San Fran. The restaurant itself is bright and cheerful with a great view of the water. We ordered the house chips, which comes with two house made salsas and a crema and they were delicious. For our entrees we ordered the picadillo de pescado and three tacos (fish and chicken). I'm literally still dreaming of the food because it was that good. All in all, the food is amazing, the view is beautiful and the staff were all very attentive. Whenever I get back to the west coast you can count on us coming here again!

Susan G.

Yelp
We have been going to Salsalito Taco Shop for YEARS!!! Service is great, food is exceptional and the place is clean! We drive from Silicon Valley where there are tons of Mexican restaurants. Something about this place that is very special!!!

David M.

Yelp
Our first time and we had an excellent lunch here today. Brie and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. My son brought some wild energy upon arrival and immediately the owner and staff took top notch care of us, giving our boy their cool toy cars for him to play with and settling us all in with great seats, drinks, chips and guacamole. They brought us delicious watermelon agua frescas, oysters, and we had tasty shrimp and chicken tacos. We had great marina view seats outside and the music and vibe was perfect. The entire experience was unforgettable. Thank you Brie and friends !

Yelp
This place in Sausalito was amazing. Thanks for my good friend Bree great food great service. Will see y'all soon.

Yelp
Our of all the food in the area I think this was by far the best stop!!! I chose their special of the day which was (chile relleno with crab and shrimp) annnnnnd although in my pic it looks messy, this plate was soooo delicious! Service was great. All the employees were very attentive to us. The seating was fast when we arrived and right away were given a glass of water, a menu and brought chips and salsa. I loved this place. Will definitely be back when visiting Sausalito again!
google avatar

Neoshi C.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Salsalito Taco Shop! It was very easy to get a table on a Sunday evening. The vibe was super easy going and chill, and the outdoor seating was perfect for a sun-filled weekend. The oysters were below average, but the veggie tostada with shrimp was an absolute delight! They don't serve hard liquor, but have drinks (including margaritas) that are made with agave wine.

A K.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service, cute ambiance and music. Must try if you're in the area!

Yelp
Yummy little taco spot. Outdoor seating with heaters for when it gets cold. Great service. See pictures for yummy food comments.
google avatar

Matthew T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Good spot near the water. Very nice service. Good choice of beers. No tequila for margaritas though. That said, the food was not very good. Average at best. I had come here once before with family and had such a good time I didn't notice the food. But the second time I came back I realized the food is very disappointing. I would not come back to this restaurant again. The three stars are for the location in the service.

Yelp
This place is so cute. the staff was amazing! They set us up on the back patio as a party of ten with 6 kids we r loud and were so thankful for a place to be comfortable and happy. the carne asad was a tough to chew otherwise this would be a 5star but everything else was amazing.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Very good food and friendly, attentive staff. The chips are fresh. Had two tacos - a shrimp taco and a fish taco. Both were lightly battered with crunchy cabbage and an assortment of sauces to choose from. They are large and filling. I can't wait to go back to try to oyster tacos. This place has authentic food in a lovely setting.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I are SF natives and wanted to take a mini trip up to the north bay, we were craving Mexican food and saw how busy this restaurant looked... Service was horrible, can't remember the name of the waitress but she came off so incredibly condescending when we were asking questions about what to order, what items were crowd favorites, and general q's about the food. The way to order the burritos is actually weirdly complicated. As a Latina, I'm not used to going to overpriced mexican places, unless the quality of the food justifies the price! But this place falls short on that. This is not real Mexican food! Everything tasted very... well y'know. I got a wet burrito de carne asada.. the sauce was supposed to be chipotle cream (i believe) but all it tasted like was water and spice.. not kidding. The rice inside the burrito was hard, tasted almost plastic-y. The meat was ok, seasoned fine just a bit chewy. $18 a burrito? from a "mexican" place? insulting tbh.. BTW -- large crowd of about 10 young adults came to put their name down while we were dining, and the hostess (or waitress) ((not sure since they kept switching off)) snapped at them when one of the girls asked how long the wait would be. Not a friendly environment as it seems..
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
Tacos were super good, but rice and beans on the side were pretty underwhelming :(. 3/5

Nicole T.

Yelp
The friendliest service, always a good time. The Cochanita taco is cannot live without
google avatar

Seeker D.

Yelp
Sausalito local. This restaurant has the best Mexican food in Sausalito and Mill Valley. We came here two days in a row this weekend..Great service and delicious food. The chips and three sauce trio was delicious and so was their special. Also, the virgin bloody mary was beautifully flavored with good heat. The fish was fresh too. We can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
You all have gotten so expensive... Way too much for a Sausalito native for what you get. And that 4% credit card surcharge is illegal! https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/credit-card-surcharges#:~:text=In%201985%2C%20California%20passed%20a,credit%20card%20instead%20of%20cash.

Rebecca U.

Yelp
Decent drinks, but the food is overpriced and bland. Also they charged us even more for paying with a credit card. Bad move because guess what? We live here and won't be back.
google avatar

Carlos F.

Yelp
Let's start off with the Chips and Guac because I know that's what you came here for! It was simple but flavorful and impactful, so much so that I'd return just for it. Thick, creamy, and rich the way guacamole was intended to be enjoyed. Portions were good for 2-3 people to munch on prior to their main dish. Moving on. Atmosphere: it's busy n small but open format right near the water which makes it nice, sunny, and breezy during a nice summer day. Great for outdoor dining. Price: $-$$, so a bit on the expensive side for Mexican food but worth it and portions are filling. Food: top tier on taste on the Shrimp burrito and the Chips/Guac. Can't comment on anything else, yet! Drinks were on point if you were looking for good taste. I'd recommend the Red Sangria and add a bit of mango/pineapple juice to soften it up a bit. Watermelon Margarita for a change of taste. Service: was damn fast! The place is very small and only fits I'd say about 10-15 tables give or take, so the food comes out relatively fast. They have good options for everyone to enjoy! Good selections of drinks and great food. Happy dining!

Yelp
My wife and I differ. Not just in TV (I like comedies, she likes stuff like My 600 Lb 90 Day Fiance) and movies (she likes David Lynch movies, I like good movies). But this restaurant. She doesn't want to return because she thought the expensive food (nachos, with little diced tomatoes and onions, choice of pinto or black beans, but no jalapenos, and a basic quesadilla with guac) was just okay, the salsa wasn't great, and no complimentary chips. I actually agree with all that. But the service was good (friendly and attentive, offered hand sanitizer at entrance, gave me my soda refill in to-go cup), the ambiance is funky (it's a converted house, and the makeshift back patio in the alley has wedding lights and heating lamps) and I liked the watermelon margarita. That's ok. We don't have to agree on every thing. She has iPhone, I have Android. She likes cleaning the kitchen first and then there bathroom, I have Android.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Feels like a tourist trap. $15 for 2 tiny tacos and $7 for a asker of tasteless chips. Left hungry with a stomach ache.

Denise G.

Yelp
This review is to commend not just their delicious food, but also the above and beyond service we experienced at this place. My fiancé and I were visiting from out of town and had a craving for Mexican food. We came upon Salsalito as it was a 5 min walk from our hotel. It was drizzling that day so we called and ordered ahead and walked on over to the restaurant with our dog to pick up our order. When we got there, the rain started coming down hard. The owner offered to plate our food so that we could eat in the patio to wait the rain out. She also gave our dog water and treats and was understanding when our dog was barking (he was scared of the wind). We both got the fish and shrimp tacos. Both were seasoned well, lightly battered and fried crispy. She also gave us fresh chips as the ones we ordered got cold before we could get there. My personal favorite though were the meaty beans! Imagine pinto beans with bacon, so amazing! Their patio was nicely decorated with Baja vibes. It was also well covered, and they had heaters all around to keep the place cozy. Overall we had a fantastic experience and plan to come back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This small little taco joint sits on the right as you enter Sausalito. Hunger hit fast so we parked on the street and headed in. The patio was close to full but we got a table overlooking the street. The beach decor and reggae music made me sit back and relax and remember.... ahhhhh.... vacation. Corona Light, please! The three of us enjoyed the Fish & Shrimp Ceviche as an appetizer. It was a large serving with ample chips to split. We enjoyed fish tacos (Taco de Pescado) & pork tacos (Taco de Conchanita). The food came really fast, probably less than 5 minutes, despite almost full capacity of patrons. This probably isn't a place to go and linger, you will be in and out pretty quick. Today, exactly what I was looking for & highly recommend.
google avatar

Rylan C.

Yelp
This place is fun and the location is great because they have a great outdoor space and it's very colorful. The food was good. Not the best Mexican Cuisine I've had but definitely not bad. I'd come back here for the fish tacos because of the crema sauce that they provide with it. They also have a lot of hot sauces to pick from. I'm not a fan of their salsas because both of them are a roasted type of salsa and I'm not into the fresh salsas. Their guacamole was good and my friend had the pork but he said it was a little dry. The service was great though, that's for sure!
google avatar

Dartise J.

Yelp
I want to start this review of by giving a big Shout out to Bri, she had amazing costumer service. Constantly checked on us and was very friendly. She was very patient with us when we were trying to determine what food to eat as well. I can go on about her but let me get to the food. The Mexican food here was definitely top tier, I enjoyed every bite of it and so did my girlfriend. The star of the show was their homemade crema! It was amazing, we even had to take some to go because it was soo good. I will be coming back to this restaurant and recommend that if you're in this area you come check this place out too.

Allie R.

Yelp
I will say, the service was great and our server was nice and the outdoor seating was warming. However, we're losing stars over the pricing and food. 2 regular size tacos with no toppings or salsa or lime for $15...why? I have never spent almost $8 on one average taco, and they were not the best I have ever had, sorry!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
What a great place lots of outdoor comfortable and aafe seating. The owners take much scare to help pero text the customers and staff. The super burritos and chilli rellenos are delicious. The salads are beyond compare and the soups they offer are so home made. Try the Fresca drinks and they have a great wine selection. Their palomas are Sooo good. And they sell beautifully hand made masks and scarves. The owners Bree and Magdalena te so professional and kind. .
google avatar

Bridget T.

Yelp
don't know why this place has 3 stars... a little pricy but great authentic mexican food. get their fish tacos or quesadilla. delicious!
google avatar

Giselle E.

Yelp
I do not understand why this place only has three stars. We were seated within 5 minutes (even thought told possibly 20 min wait). Love the small "mom and pop shop" vibe. Hostess I believe was the owner or manager. We were seated outside and had drink order taken right away. Chips are made in house and daily. Salsa and guacamole was good, but nothing fantastic. New Mex salad with pork was really good! The pork was so flavorful and not fatty. The lettuce is shredded and fresh crispy. The cilantro lime dressing was not overpowering and added the perfect balance to the salad. Cheese quesadilla my friend ordered and enjoyed. Crispy outside with perfectly melted cheese (don't you hate when you bite into a half melted quesadilla?) I would definitely eat here again and try more menu items! Also major bonus for me that they offer gluten free options.
google avatar

Nat B.

Yelp
The staff was beyond hospitable and super nice! GET THE TACO DE PESCADO! Perfectly battered fish, perfectly salted, juicy oof! I cannot recommend it enough! The watermelon margarita was amazing, I believe it was seasonal for summer, but if it's on the menu order it! so yummy!!!
google avatar

Gustavo C.

Yelp
Good place and good food. Good service as well. Good place for a quick taco. Food is clock just right tasty and condiments and salsas are really good.

Yelp
Super good place, we had a great time, delicious food, music and decoration, drinks. We would go again.

Yelp
Great service!! Food was so fresh, totally recommend the tacos and nachos. Definitely get the pork; sensational!!
