Google
Great little spot for lunch. The staff were super friendly and kind. Me and my partner ordered the rare beast and chopped with a side of coleslaw and truffle fries. It was delicious! The wait time after ordering was fairly quick also.

Google
Salt & Grinder was delicious, from the Macaroni Salad, to the Cuban sandwich. Service was prompt and the food came out very quickly!

Google
We've been here several times and they never disappoint. Great food options including salads and sandwiches. On the weekends, they also have breakfast options. The staff is always friendly. The food does take awhile, but I never mind because it is fresh and visually pleasing and tastes amazing!

Google
This place is solid. They have added burgers to there already stellar menu, and the poblano one is popular and the one I would recommend. But, I plan on going with my old standby's next time (Tigs and Frankie). Great Jersey deli in Denver. You should check it out in the next week or two before the farmer's market ends (right outside). Just went this weekend, so adding to it: The food here is great, the drinks are good, and we really like going here. Different foods for different moods. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc. They took the Tigs off the regular menu, which broke my heart, but they have a variety of other selections. The Frankie is a great sandwich and my other go-to. Always check out the special too. They have a HH I hear, although we have never been to it. Not docking it a star but it is odd service each time and seems a little disjointed. It is counter service, but they still pack on the post-pandemic 22% service charge. I get adding a 18% or 20% gratuity, but 22% is higher than the normal tipper and a little off. I had the Firestarter last time (pictured) and it was pretty solid. Worth checking out, and it is located on a fun street to go exploring after. We just visited here again, and my rating stays the same. It is a very solid four. I am a Jersey guy and an ex-bartender. The Frankie is off the hook as far as product (pic below). THAT is a five. I think the potato salad is also amazing. We have had three straight visits where the service has been subpar. I am not a huge fan of counter service, but I need energy at least. They have not been uplifting my day, upselling me when gullible, or making the visit better. Know that these are not negatives, but I firmly believe from my past-hospo days of owning your shift. We have not felt that. The food is amazing, but I can't give this place a five until I have a great experience. Much love, all. I recommend, and maybe will see you there. If you go there, know that the Frankie and potato salad are the bomb though.

Google
Cute place, friendly person taking orders, food could use improvement. It looked beautiful. Beets on salad were under cooked (hard). The side salad with the sandwhich had a tastless vinegerette.

Imani Acanfora

Google
My husband got the Frankie and really enjoyed it but I waited 25 minutes for a take out order and got this very skimpy sandwich. Generous with the meat but stingy with the peppers and cheese?

Matt Williams

Google
Salt & Grinder has been on my list for awhile and it definitely lived up to expectations. Service was good and the food was great. Lots of enticing options on the menu so will definitely be back!

Google
Super delicious and kindly served. Great timing and conversation was worthwhile. DO NOT FORGET A COOKIE. If you like to support locally, there is a Friday-Sunday menu featuring barbecue. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Salt and Grinder is favorite place in Denver. And now, they are inside to Denver International Airport on the 2nd level main atrium, concourse B. This restaurant review is for the Airport location. I had the S&G Cuban. Muy delicioso.

Yelp
Would not recommend based on my 1st impression : Grossly overpaid for a disappointing sandwich ($17? For poor quality ingredients? I.e. dry chewy bread, wet arugula, bruised cucumbers idk maybe this was a one-off, but it's gonna take a lot for me to go back and give this place another try purely based on those high prices! Was really looking forward to trying this deli but there are much tastier places out there IMO.

Yelp
Ordered Salt & Grinder for lunch and was overall disappointed. Service was very slow considering there were only a few other people at the restaurant. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap, which was average. It was packed with a lot of lettuce and croutons. I also got chicken tenders. They were very dry and had little meat on them.

Chelsea V.

Yelp
Tasteless and extremely expensive. Be prepared to pay $50 for two basic sandwiches and sides and leave completely unsatisfied!
google avatar

Luc B.

Yelp
Went for 2 sandwiches, reuben and cuban - was surprised with a $42 bill including a "happiness" 20% add-on for staff - mind you was only the cook and the waitress. Mediocre sandwiches on both counts, but the mandatory 20% is a "no go back" for our dining.
google avatar

Jami W.

Yelp
Came here for a couple of sandwiches to bring to a lunch meeting while in the area. The gal at the service counter was super nice and welcoming. I explained to her what I was looking for, and she gave me some popular choices and suggestions. After placing my order she mentioned the quick wait time and told me she would happily bring my food out when it was ready. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining which made the wait time fly by. The inside was inviting and would love to dine in some time in the future. The food was great and service outstanding--would definitely recommend.

L W.

Yelp
Would prefer they raise the prices on menu rather than tack on an unexpected 22% service charge.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
The French Dip was good but not the lovely mid-rare and pink like the other photos. Don't love the mandatory 22% "service charge." I'm all about tipping well but 22% is REALLY aggressive considering this isn't a sit down and be served restaurant! You order at the counter. What if the service sucks!?!

Rachel M.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to grab a sandwich. 4 stars instead of 5 because I've been trying to reach the restaurant to place a catering order but got not response at all from the online form and was hung up on when I called in to place the order.

Yelp
What frustrates me about S&G is there is so much potential. Every time I come, something happens and it leaves a bad impression. Their breakfast is good. It's greasy, it's delicious and so filling. That's their saving grace. What I struggle with is their sandwiches and salads. Like another reviewer said - it's bland. It's always bland. Given it is a sandwich shop I'm disappointed their bread is quite frankly terrible. It's hard and tasteless. It's confusing bc their menu is delightful and gives you a lot of hope. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things. Every time I'm always disappointed. Do yourself a favor and order online. Their service has always been spotty. Post pandemic + how hard it is to hire you can see they're struggling. I came in to grab a gift card and stood in line without someone in the front for 5 mins. Why? Because the poor cashier was having to run the front of the house + pack orders. That's not her fault. When I asked to get a gift card she has no idea where they were and eventually found them in a random drawer muttering "idk why they keep moving the cards" When I got the gift card I wasn't told there is a $4.40 "delivery fee". First of all why didn't you tell me? It always bothers me when workers are not transparent. I didn't know there was a fee until AFTER I paid and had to ask the cashier. Who very flustered said "oh yeah there's a fee for tip and stuff ..." Ummm okay? What's tip and stuff? How is "tip and stuff" = delivery fee? I don't have a problem paying any sort of fee as long as I'm informed. This is ridiculous a $4.40 fee????? I never got a real answer other than "I'm sorry" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm conflicted with S&G. Is this experience the poor cashier's fault? No. She's being over worked and clearly not given enough training. It's poor management from the bonanno group. I live in the west highlands area and within walking distance to this shop. I think it says a lot that I DRIVE elsewhere to get my salads and sandwiches. It's disappointing time and time again. Wish they'd get their management together so this place can shine.

Tom G.

Yelp
Walked in and ordered 2 sandwiches. Total came out to $43 with a $9 "service" charge. Chicken parm was on a 6 inch baguette hahah. Tip is included and you don't have a choice.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
I went there to order a sandwich meal and when I tried to prepay, discovered an extra 4$ charge that I was told was a tip that cannot be removed. Since when is tipping mandatory BEFORE being served? I'll tell you when. It's when the greedy ass owner won't pay a livable wage and wants the general public to do it. I canceled my order. I will not be held hostage for MANDATORY TIPS!

Yelp
We all need a neighborhood deli in our life, right? Salt & Grinder is a New Jersey-style deli from Frank Bonanno, a big name in the Denver restaurant scene with many different concepts scattered around the city. I'm trying to support as many local restaurants as possible during COVID. This shop has been on my hit list for a while. When I was scouring Yelp on my lunch break, the stars aligned for my chance to see what the fuss was about. Ordering online couldn't have been easier. Though the trouble is deciding which sandwich to order! I remember reading a while back how Frank said their cold subs are what they do best. More often than not, it pays to listen to what the chef/owner has to say. I landed on The Frankie, which shouldn't come as a surprise as it's an Italian sandwich. Yeah, yeah, my go-to! +The Frankie: Prosciutto, Coppa, Ham, Burrata, Arugula, Tomato & Red Wine Vinaigrette on a Grinder Roll. What made this sandwich stand out was the Burrata, a cheese you don't find on sandwiches too often. I thought it would overpower the salty meats, but nope, they put just the right amount on. The roll comes from a local bakery and you can taste the freshness. A very good sandwich, though I wish it was larger in size. What can I say, I like to eat! They also have interesting sides. Elevated from the normal deli you might be accustomed to. The potato salad tasted like cold mashed potatoes, and don't misinterpret my words, this is a good thing! All in all, very pleased after one takeout experience. Definitely open to sampling more of the menu.

Yelp
Very yummy! Ordered for pick up and they were ready right on time. The sandwiches are are for one person we got two to shy and were happy
google avatar

Hilary W.

Yelp
Delicious! Will be back! Came here without an appetite with some friends and was pleasantly surprised how much I ate. Got the Yard Bird, at first thought there was going to be too much greens with the sprouts and arugula but it was fantastic! Wish I took a photo to share with Yelp.

Emma S.

Yelp
Consistently get a bad sandwich here. The bread is way too thick and dry. Every time I make a modification they dont do it. Half the ingredients are missing. Expect to wait 20 minutes for your sandwich. Also, the 20% fee on a pick up order is a no go.

Sarah M.

Yelp
The most overpriced average sandwich I've ever had. Waited 45 minutes for 2 cold sandwiches while there were only two people ahead of us. Super bizarre I honestly don't know how it took that long. I wish I could say the two sandwiches were worth the wait or the $35 but my boyfriend and I both agreed subway could have done better. Cashiers seemed unbothered and a little annoyed when I asked to switch the order to to go/how much longer it would be after waiting 40 minutes.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Two sandwiches took 25 min to come out but they were pretty delicious. Huge portion of fries. However, they add a 22% automatic gratuity and you order at a counter. No where in the restaurant does it say this and when you're sitting down without any table service, getting yourself water, etc, 22% is quite steep. Probably won't be back.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
I love this place! I was originally looking for a good, close-to-home, lunchtime spot, and found this gem! They have so many unique sandwiches, and they even have breakfast too! The staff is friendly, I feel like they have crazy-fast service even when the seating is full or if you order to-go, and it's reliably delicious. Some of my favorites have been: the Tuscan and Spicy Turkey. They also have a wonderful breakfast sandwich & serve coffee in the mornings too. I need to come back to try the burgers!
google avatar

Chlobug M.

Yelp
It should not take longer than 30 minutes to make a sandwich... there was one person working and 2 in the kitchen. Not worth the wait.
google avatar

Jackson L.

Yelp
Solid local sandwich shop - nothing too fancy or gourmet... just a well-made, filling sandwich consistently made with quality, fresh ingredients. The various turkey sandwiches on the menu have been my go-to's here recently, especially since working from home in the last year. Delivery service is super-quick given that these guys are just right up the street from me - I can usually have a sandwich in-hand a mere 20-25 minutes after ordering online. Convenient and affordable. Each sandwich comes with an old school pickle spear and choice of side salad. Being a huge fan of macaroni salad, this is pretty much all I go for given that their mac salad is legit. S&G makes it a point to show their appreciation for customers that have been supporting them through the pandemic: it's not uncommon to have a free cookie or coupon for a discounted future meal included in the to-go bag with a little thank-you note from the owner. Definitely a nice touch and just one more reason that I'll continue to order lunch from S&G when I'm craving a classic sandwich.
google avatar

Richard F.

Yelp
This is a tough one to evaluate. I did not go to this place but instead received a sandwich from take out. Those that did go reported it was nice enough in appearance but were not that crazy about the food. One reported the bread was stale. But what I can report is that their classic Reuben was pretty good! It had three slices plus was well endowed with ingredients. I would get it again. Side dishes like potato salad and macaroni salad were nothing to rave about but they were decent enough for me. Overall I'd say most reviews are spot on about this place. I'm always hoping for a wow factor that tells me to rate high but can't do it for this eatery. Still it was good enough for me so I can't rate low either. Overall it's worth trying out if you are in the area. My taste buds are telling me to since I enjoyed the Reuben. If I try it again I'll be sure to update this review.
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
I had a fantastic sandwich and side salad today! Cute space, friendly staff and a small outdoor patio. My sandwich was perfection, and the arugula and orzo side salad was so delicious! I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Randy B.

Yelp
Food was good service ok but beware of the Creating Happy People: Hospitality Included A fee of 22% for what reason? This place is a rip off let people know this before they order.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
I couldn't decide which sandwich to try yesterday. The cashier told me that people love the wild turkey. I can see why people love it. It's delicious. It's a warm sandwich with turkey, provolone, cherry tomatoes, arugula and horseradish mayo on a toasted grinder roll. Highly recommend! I got the coleslaw as my side. I suggest you try something else.

Christina D.

Yelp
After WAITING 53 minutes for a sandwich and two salads, I asked to have my salad removed and refunded because I had only an hour for lunch. My friends stayed and the food came at 56 minutes. I also asked to have the 18% gratuity I had put on there removed because I did not know they also automatically charge 22% gratuity. So, I was leaving 40% gratuity at a place where you order your own food at a counter, get your own drinks, and sit down at a dirty table and there is no one to wipe it down. I'll never know if the food is good, as I would NEVER come back here again.
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
Honestly surprised this place isn't rated more highly. One of the best sandwich spots in town.
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
Wow! Actually very shocked to see the average rating of this place is only 3.5 stars, I was really impressed with it! We went on a Saturday afternoon as about a group of 8 celebrating our transition into clinical. It was a very nice balance between it being set up as fast casual (ordering at the front) but also having staff continue to wait and be attentive. We got a mimosa bucket for the table which came both with orange juice, cranberry juice and a beer! There menu had so many selections and everything sounded so good. I ended up choosing The Tuscan and it was delicious. The best part was that when we were wrapping up, one of the employees brought over four large deliciously warm chocolate chip cookies our for us to share on the house as he knew we were celebrating something important.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Nobody ever said it was cheap being a hipster! Sandwiches are solid, for sure. Creative, well done. Not large, by any means, but sufficient. The sides like pickles, potato salad, and the like are tasty and in-house made. It's a good meal. It's also not cheap. We did four sandwiches with sides, tax, and a tip for take-out = $92. Whew. Some days all life (and the wallet) calls for is a $5 foot long.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Service is incredibly slow. And they include tip in your order that can't be adjusted. I'm no genius but Maybe these items are related.
google avatar

Ben N.

Yelp
Service was prompt and good. Our total was under $17 for two people to split a sandwich, was each plate got its own side. We were very pleased with the service, and the food was quality as well. The Wild Turkey was layered with ingredients and a filling size while the arugula side salad was tangy and bright. I'd return for sure.
google avatar

Jasmine R.

Yelp
We were super excited to try out a new local place in our neighborhood and the food looked really good BUT we had to wait for an hour and our food (literally one sandwich) and it never came. We understood that they were really busy and we were patient but we watched multiple other people get their food before us even though we had been waiting SIGNIFICANTLY longer. They clearly forgot our food and made no effort to get it out quicker. Honestly a really disappointing experience...
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
This place has such an enticing menu. I got the half sandwich soup combo. Reuben was excellent. Mushroom soup was so salty I could barely eat it. However they did put an extra cookie in for free. Location has a little bit of outdoor seating. For 9 dollars I'm happy with my purchase.
google avatar

Susan J.

Yelp
Great local deli in the highlands! I went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. This isn't a place you have to feel weird about showing up alone. I had the yard bird with macaroni salad! I love pesto with turkey so I know I picked the right menu item. The service was fast and friendly. They have a variety of delicious drinks like lemonade and Italian soda. Anytime I'm in the area I will visit again.
google avatar

Renee H.

Yelp
Fantastic little sandwich shop. The sandwiches are so good and the ingredients are super fresh. Everything is homemade there and very tasty. I had the Tuscan sandwich and it was hearty and delicious. The cucumber side salad was excellent too. My bf had the Mediterranean tuna and was skeptical about the egg in it. It he loved it. He loved their fresh homemade cole slaw too. Lastly the staff was so nice, helpful and friendly. We were very pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood shop. Highly recommend.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Very nice vibe and excellent coffee, BUT I found the food average and of disappointed ingredients. Hardly any veggies and quinoa in the salad, and the tuna sandwich was very mediocre. Also, three of us were having lunch and they automatically put 20% on for tip, even though you have to go inside and order the food and then go to find a seat. I won't be going back
google avatar

Ciara M.

Yelp
Great service , proper covid precautions , friendly attentive staff, affordable and delish. A cute modern take on a deli with some yummy veggie options. I will deffinatley be stopping in more often . I got the Tuscan sammy and it was tasty and refreshing, the potato salad was rustic, homey and delicious
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Yum! Pretty spectacular sandwiches! Got the chicken Parmesan sandwich and the Reuben and both were pretty good, but the Reuben is one of the bests I've had in a long time! Split both sandwiches to trade and share with my boyfriend and after eating the Reuben he regret sharing the other half because of how good it was lol definitely want to try other sandwiches they have.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
I finally found the perfect deli type spot in Denver! Such good sandwiches and sides. I swear I come here at least once a week and they never disappoint. It is clear that the ownership is very thoughtful.
google avatar

Griffin W.

Yelp
Always consistent and friendly. Everything I've tried so far has been excellent. Burgers and sandwiches are great but I usually stop by for breakfast.
google avatar

Crystal I.

Yelp
Great spot! Indoor and outdoor dining, beer wine and spirits. Turkey, cubano, and veggie sandwich all good. Recommend!

Yelp
I hate going to the Highlands neighborhood shops because of the terrible parking situation and we did have to park two blocks away from this restaurant on a very, very cold and blustery day. However, the space was warm, welcoming, and charming with what looked like a 19th century apothecary display cabinet taking up most of the east wall. The staff was friendly and our meals arrived fairly promptly. This is fast casual. You order and pay at a tiny counter at the front, you're given a stand with a numbered ball, you find a table, and a runner brings your meal from the kitchen. The space is quite small with two booths and about eight tables. There's nothing much I have to say about the food. Everything was fine, but nothing was very interesting. I had a cup of the minestrone which was OK, but not remarkable in any way, and half of a meatball sandwich, which was also fine. My friend had the chopped salad which was, again, fine. All of the ingredients were fresh, but nothing was terribly special or different in any way from the fare in dozens of sandwich shops around town. Just ordinary ingredients presented in an ordinary way. I expected more from Frank Bonanno.

Chelsea V.

Yelp
Salt and Grinder has really went downhill over the years. Sandwiches are very expensive for quality. If you're looking for a great sandwich try Mead Street up a few doors! While Salt and Grinder has stumbled, Mead street has really improved with their remodel. Really, every other place on the block is better... just look at the amount of people and that will back up what I'm saying. Even chipotle across the street is better food for value.
google avatar

Meredith W.

Yelp
This was a perfect breakfast spot for a Saturday morning! My only complaint is that I wish brunch was served later on the weekends (9-11 am), but they were willing to make a Build A'Wich breakfast sandwich for us still! We sat on the patio, which had a good amount of seating and umbrellas if you fancy. The staff was great, too. Everyone was really nice and we maybe waited ~15 mins for our food at a fairly busy time, but the food came out hot and fresh. Overall, I definitely recommend Salt & Grinder for a casual brunch/lunch stop in the Highlands!

Miranda V.

Yelp
Atmosphere is really nice and good isn't bad. Every time I've been in though the staff are divas. Don't want to go above and beyond for the customer and are annoyed if you ask them for anything. Just suggest some customer service training
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
A friend and I caught up on life over lunch at Salt and Grinder. It was a gross day weather wise and this was a cute spot to feel cozy in and enjoy good food. The quinoa salad was much better than I anticipated and had a good blend of textures and flavors. I was impressed enough I went back to sample the veggie sandwich the next week. The bread was soft and the best part was the pesto. The rest of the sandwich was a little unoriginal with the ingredients but it was a decent veggie sandwich, albeit a bit pricey. The coleslaw on the side was also decent but not the best I have had. I would stick with the salad going forward. Service has always been friendly and really fast!
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
4 stars because the bread for the sandwiches is amazing. Soft on the inside and crusty and chewy on the out...makes the perfect sandwich. The insides are just as delicious. The are gracious with the meats and let the lettuce be more of an accessory. The are quick with the take out but I look forward to eating in at some point. It's a small joint but I love the cozy decor...might need to give breakfast a go there! Thank you for a great local sandwich joint!

Yelp
- No Apple Pay - No Wi-Fi + Very good sandwich for breakfast. Egg, cheese and bacon. + AMEX + Cloth napkins + Decent flatware + $3 beer + Patio

Megan F.

Yelp
What is the point of supporting local if the business is going to continual screw up your orders. I have given this place two chances ordering through Uber Eats and BOTH times my orders were incorrect or incomplete. Will NEVER be ordering from this place again. Not worth the continual disappointment.
