The service: great
The ambiance: casual dining with less than casual prices
The food: mediocre at best
We came in midday, mid-week in the middle of summer. It wasn't busy and we wanted to escape the heat. They've done a nice job with the bar and I anticipate the major draw is the nice patio on the roof (which we chose not to sit at). The vibe is definitely lunch-casual and we expected the food to be mountain town expensive but were hoping to have a decent first meal in steamboat .
The server was personable and friendly and it seemed like the servers were all there because they genuinely liked working together. Love that! Woo hoo for liking your coworkers and being good at your job.
Got the jalapeño poppers app, which was fine. Didn't really taste the canned pineapple under the bbq like sauce. 5/10 arbitrary stars.
Got the limeade, which was just ok for simple syrup lime and some raspberry flavoring.. what did I expect for 6$ I don't know, but I was hoping for more lime. 6/10
Got the tacos, all of which were covered in a generic crema sauce. They're going for fancy Tex mex tacos, but instead of that, they're producing indistinguishable flavors and slathering it with some basic mayo sauce. 2/10
This technique is similar to what the super market does with sushi... they get some store stable ingredients that taste pretty terrible on their own and add sriracha mayo to it so it tastes like... mayo.
However, salt and lime has almost done the opposite. They have half decent ingredients in their tacos, they're just trying to add it all together without considering what flavor they want to elevate and therefore nothing tastes good, it all tastes like taco mush, which could be fine if you like that... but not for small portions, mediocre meat and cold tortillas.
If you like food, don't go here. If you have money and are just looking to fill your stomach be my guest.
