TLDR: way too expensive for the experience
we anticipated great food and a friendly evening, but the first thing that happened when we arrived 10 minutes early for the second seating of the night was that we were told to come back later, despite empty tables, despite it being a windy 4 degrees outside. And even when we were back, we and all other guests (mostly 25-35 years old inexperienced diners I would think) were kept waiting standing out in the cold just so they could distribute the last napkins without the nuisance of guests.
Seating is a little tight for comfort and the price range, and they didn't bother removing damage and wall drawings in the bathrooms, but whatever, part of the experience?
But we were here for the food, and the mezze menu - köfte, fish, beef tartare, lamb - sounded great, so we went all in with the 'Yallah' tasting combo. This was unfortunately a big mistake, because instead of getting a 'best of' their individual courses, instead they were serving us 6 plates of the dishes with the cheaper ingredients, mostly some vegetable with a garlicy sauce/dip, some quite good, others not so good, especially not the rubbery pieces of leeks, all followed by a small bowl of bland dessert. All pretty rushed, too, we'd have expected at least one additional flight of dishes.
The bread tasted nice though, as did their garden tomato dish.
We also initially wondered why the wine bottle prices were so high compared with the per-glass prices, until we saw how stingy they were pouring the goods.
The servers, friendly as they were, clearly didn't encourage nor expect anyone to linger.
At a more reasonable price, I'd have given 4**** and have left feeling good about a place with a mix of getting started and some ambition. But not at 185€ for some mezze. Avoid.
