Google
We love Salt & Straw. They have so many unique fun flavors. Today, we had Banana Bread with Strawberry Jam on a strawbery shortcake waffle cone and Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge in a cup.

Hana

Google
The scooper man let me try 2 flavors before a crowd of 50 came and stampede their way over to Salt & Straw. Stressed, as I wanted to try all of their flavors, I went with the flavor my heart truly wanted over all the flavors I tried: Chocolate Brownie. It was so good the homeless man on the sidewalk asked for a bite, too.

Google
Great unique flavors of ice cream. Friendly service. I don't know anybody who doesn't like it.

Google
This was absolutely an experience!!! Listen, my friend and I had 4 pints delivered and we did a tasting of 4 flavors, Cinnamon Honey Fried Chicken, Strawberry Honey Balasamic with Black Pepper, Sea Salt and Carmal Ribbon and Smoked Macaroni and Cheese. 2 of the 4 were absolutely horrible! They were so bad to my taste buds, that I had to try it again!! The flavors are so strong and amazing, that I had to try it again!!! We shared the ice cream with others that were present and they also enjoyed the tasting. If you're a foodie and want to have some fun, I recommend you give this try! Be open and bold enough to try a new flavors and I guarantee it'll be worth the experience.

Google
I'm so excited to have a Salt & Straw Ice Cream Shop closer to my home. I was promptly greeted by a friendly employee and offered samples of their unique flavors of ice cream. I choose their Honey Lavender flavor as it was definitely delicious and not a flavor I would find anywhere else. I can't wait to stop in again at this location.

Google
Seeing what rhe hype was about and was super happy. My husband got the pistachio, rose water & mochi and I got the olive oil. Their waffle cones are perfect. Everything was so delicious. I like you don't have to wait in line if you want to just get a pint, in case it's super busy. We went on a Sunday about 6:30pm and no line at all. I'll get the olive oil flavor every time. You'd think it's pretty basic, but the flavor is tasty and just perfect for me

Google
Was recommended to check this place out while I was in town for work. Went even though I wasn’t really hungry, but was on a BIG back mission. 🤣🤣 Good variety of flavors, and a decent selection of odd combination flavors to try. I decided on a double scoop waffle cone and got the jack o’latern pumpkin bread, with a scoop of pear & blue cheese.

Google
First of all, when I walked in the place enr smelled amazing. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. They have so many different and unique flavors. Their outdoor seating is cozy and functional. They do not use disposable spoons for taste testing. They have a great system in place with tiny, reusable spoons and holes in the wall for you to put them after you're done. I had the strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. It was phenomenal.

Yelp
We have been here quite a few times! Great location! Close to our home, and also right off the freeway. Easy access and parking. Welcoming ambiance. Friendly, attentive, and accommodating staff. My daughter and I like different kinds of food/desserts, so it's always nice to be able to taste before we order. And they don't make me feel bad when I can't make up my mind, or when I ask to try something else. Their menu is very creative! Never disappoints!

Yelp
Kimmberly took care of me today and she was the best! She deserves something for scooping my ice cream in this cold weather. Brrrr! She greeted me with a smile and positive attitude which was nice considering the long line before me! Salt & Straw should be very grateful they have such committed employees that give them a good name.

Yelp
WOW. Salt & Straw has the best ice cream I've ever had. I remember hearing about this place before it opened--my mom must have sent me a story about it coming to Eugene year or two ago, and it's been on my list of places to stop when I next went home. Which was last week, and thank goodness I went to Oakway and saw them there because I may have forgotten and that would have been so sad for me. When you enter you're invited to try as many flavors as you want. That's great, because in my mom's words, "They have weird flavors." They're unusual for sure--their vanilla is probably the only one that would sound like something folks would be familiar with. As you'll see, I took them up on their offer and tasted most of them; they include: - Arbequina Olive Oil: not bad, tastes a little savory toward the finish - Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons: so good; not overly salty, and the caramel is buttery and smooth -Cinnamon Snickerdoodle: The cinnamon is definitely detected! -Honey Lavender: A well balanced flavor where the lavender does not overpower the taste profile -Pear and Blue Cheese: Probably the most "out there" flavor, but it's delicious--the pear is sweet and strong and is wonderful with the chunks of blue cheese you'll encounter -Chocolate Gooey Brownie: Surprisingly good, and probably the second most "normal" flavor they had. I don't like chunks of stuff in ice cream but this was actually a brownie with a consistency of something that just came out of the oven and was indeed soft and gooey. -Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper: This was my favorite flavor of theirs. There's ltos of strawberry in this, and the balsamic is strong and gives it some bite. My sister didn't like this one for that reason, but I thought the balsamic and strawberry combo was delicious. I had this ice cream three times in the two weeks I was home, and I will evangelize. The staff are super friendly. The ambiance is nice with a couple fire pits and a bit of outdoor seating, which is really great in this climate. We went one day when it was raining but it wasn't uncomfortable sitting here by the fire. They ship their ice cream nationwide, and I think I'll order a few pints for my daughter's first birthday so her first ice cream can be the best ice cream.

Yelp
I know it's been here in Eugene for a while now, but I finally got around to trying Salt & Straw this past weekend. My overall thoughts? .......Meh. Everyone is out here with there 5 stars and big statements like "most amazing ice cream in the whole world ever!!!!" And then me: "huh?" It's good ice cream and I can applaud S&S for creating more inventive, savory culinary flavors (but also, honestly, who wants a smoked Mac and cheese ice cream?!). The person who helped my daughter and me that day was friendly and patient with our samples/questions. The store itself was clean but barren, not inviting anyone to stay inside beyond getting your ice cream and getting out. I'm sure they get quite busy at times. I got a single scoop in a waffle cone and my daughter a kids scoop in a waffle cone. Total before tip was just over $14. They sell pre packed pints for...wait for it...$12! I guess my issue is thinking on quality vs. price. Again, it's not bad ice cream, it's good! But that good? Nah. Or maybe this is an expectation issue because after hearing from what feels like literally anyone who has ever lived or visited Eugene or PDX saying it's sooooo amazing, I wanted it to be just that. And it wasn't.

Yelp
Their seemingly bizarre combinations can be stellar, and they're patient as you sample them. You'll find something you like, although those looking for low carb menu items will have to look elsewhere. We tried several combos and were amazed, truly amazed. We settled on different cups and dipped into each other's selections to get the smorgasbord effect. It's not cheap, but the quality of the offerings was stellar. Who knew that balsamic could make berry flavors pop? There can be lines. Be patient. The reward(s) are worth it. I warn you that they can be really addictive.

Yelp
Amazing service, happy employees greeting us throughout our entire experience and very knowledgeable of all of the ice cream. We came on a busy Friday night, staff has it down to a T on how to get people served and the line move efficiently. Ice cream was delicious, flavors are interesting and creative!

Jenna K.

Yelp
This ice cream is delicious--out of this world. A little expensive but completely worth it (plus the area it's in is more expensive anyways). Service is great, people are awesome and friendly, knowledgeable. I love this place!

Brooke W.

Yelp
The staff was incredibly friendly, and the ice cream was amazing! The waffle cone and flavors were unlike any other.

Yelp
We first tried salt and straw on our Alaskan Airline flight and decided to stop by to try it as soon as we landed. The staff there are really nice, they let us try everything. I had tried the sea salt and caramel ribbon on the plane and chose to get the peanut butter brittle and my husband got the pistachio with rose water. Mine was vegan and you could not tell. Definitely highly recommend their ice cream!
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
The monthly offerings are almost always worth a stop in for. The "weird" offerings like bug ice cream and turkey stuffing ice cream are definitely unusual, and are not for everyone. We got the pumpkin pie tiramisu ice cream tonight and it was pretty solid. Not my favorite of their monthly flavors, that goes to the candycopia ice cream from October, but it is a good choice. I try to make it out here at least once a month just to try one of the monthly flavors!

Yelp
VERY UNIQUE Everyone talks about this place so I decided to give it a try. Once you walk in the menu seems a bit strange as for most of the flavors you have probably never seen before. You should try as much as you are willing to try. The staff was friendly, helpful and let me try everything I wanted to. After trying most flavors, I ended up getting the Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Strawberry Banana Bread. Overall, you should try these unique ice cream creations.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
Salt and straw is a staple if you want yummy non traditional icecream flavors! I've never had a bad flavor. The service is always friendly! They're usually pretty busy, but it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Nina W.

Yelp
What a cool vibe this place is! Wackiest flavors ever and a must try! Every ice cream tastes exactly like the name. Friendliest, fun people serving it up!

Yelp
Salt and Straw is by far the best ice cream chain! It's one of my go to's. Their ice cream tastes very high quality, you can tell they use good ingredients. They are known for some crazy flavor combinations like pear and goat cheese and olive oil. My favorite flavors are the salted malted cookie dough and ooey gooey brownie. They have rotating new flavors and some classics that are always available. The store is cute with a fireplace outside, so nice for hanging out and enjoying your treat. Employees are super friendly and they let you try any flavor you want before making a decision. Come here next time you are craving dessert!

Yelp
Love their fire place and the amazing service from a young man, Acey i think he said his name was. Best service ever. He was so kind and helpful. Very good worker and customer service. I gave him a 35% tip. Great work and love the ice cream too. Very clean store and very good quality.
google avatar

Katherine K.

Yelp
They have a lot of unique flavors here and while the concept sounds interesting and enticing, the flavors themselves are only okay. Most are incredibly sweet and not something I would want more than a taster of. The staff knows that customers will want to try a bunch of flavors and they're very patient and helpful throughout the process. I ended up getting the Pink Rose and Watermelon Sorbet after having tried a few of the others. It was the only flavor that I knew wasn't going to be overwhelming after a few bites. Not somewhere worth waiting when there's a big line.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
There is a reason why this is a very popular ice cream chain, they are freaking delicious. I love how that sweet smell of waffle cone smacks you across the face as soon as you walk in. I also appreciate how creamy and sweet their vegan ice cream is. Its texture and flavor is so convincing for an alternative. I also love all the fun and experimental flavors they offer seasonally. It's never a dull moment at Salt & Straw.
google avatar

Sophie S.

Yelp
Delicious! They were generous with their samples and the employees were so kind. I had the honey lavender, my friend got the mango pie.
google avatar

Darilyn M.

Yelp
The flavors are beautifully crafted, and gourmet if you will. Customer service was friendly and attentive. Truly a tasty and creative experience with flavors
google avatar

Joy P.

Yelp
if you've been to a salt and straw before, i'd say this one ranks as a nicer size and is certainly well located at the oak way (if you find the sephora close to coburg road you're there!) because come duck athletic seasons when people come in from out of town, i would surmise it can accommodate longer lines than the nonexistent one i just experienced on a hot, smokey tuesday summer afternoon. i knew what i wanted when i walked in but that didn't dissuade me from sampling two of the other flavors in the case. sample away and slide the used spoons into the slot at waist level. i find ice cream in general is an antidote to a lot that could be ailing you. more specifically, salt and straw never disappoints!
google avatar

Charlie H.

Yelp
I love love these guys. The Vegan options are delicious and I plan on buying by the pint. There is a cute little sitting area outside with a fire "pit" and it's really cute.
google avatar

Yelp
What makes Salt & Straw Special? To start, the cream used by Salt & Straw comes from the Scott Family Dairy which never uses growth hormones or antibiotics. They also have a truly unique offering of flavors to choose from. While there are some consistent menu "classics" to choose from, there are also limited time flavors like the current "Veggies you crave" series featuring flavors like "Charred Corn Curd, Cotija & Tajin," "Red Chili Curry & Makrut Lime Crispy Rice (v)" and "Spinach Cake w/ Chocolate Tahini Fudge." Once you're at the counter (and trust me, the wait is well worth it), you're welcome to sample any flavor you like before you commit to the full serving sizes. Be adventurous and try something that sounds unusual...you might just be surprised how delicious the unusual can be! I tried several, and they were all good, but in the end I stuck to the classic flavors of Sea salt with caramel ribbon...it was smooth, creamy ice cream heaven! Fun Fact: Did you know that Salt & Straw is located in both Downtown Disney (Disneyland) and Disney Springs (Walt Disney World)? Yup, get some of that magic right here in Eugene!
google avatar

Marcy M.

Yelp
Salt & Straw is possibly the best ice cream I've ever had. I have frequented the Portland locations so I was so happy when this one opened here in Eugene! Their sea salt caramel flavor is the best combination of tastes/flavors and is my go-to choice- the caramel tastes like real, quality caramel (not the fake stuff you see in grocery store ice cream). The workers have all been friendly every time we have visited too and are always ready to offer you samples of any flavor. The line out the door can seem daunting but honestly it moves pretty fast and we've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes.
google avatar

Pranjali S.

Yelp
I am visiting Eugene and went here because it was recommended as a must-visit before I leave. I see why!! The ice cream is AMAZING. One has to eat something from here before leaving Oregon. I tasted their Strawberry with Black Pepper, olive oil and the pear with blue cheese flavors. They were all REALLY good. The strawberry one felt a little too strong for me because of the strawberry (I'd thought it might be the pepper but that was perfect!). The olive oil was pretty much like vanilla but a lot more creamy and buttery. The pear and blue cheese tasted exactly like what I'd wanted - not too sweet and definitely cheesy, fairly subtle and creamy. Definitely the perfect choice for what I wanted today! P.S. also liked the fact that they give you steel spoons that are reused and not the wooden tasting sticks.
google avatar

Corinne B.

Yelp
The ice cream tasted very good, and it was a place that I had wanted to try for some time. Service was good, and it was a good place with nice ambiance! Finally, a staple of Portland has arrived in Eugene.
google avatar

Utah Chic K.

Yelp
Service was incredible, ice cream scooper person was cheerful and gladly offered for us to try as many samples as we liked, "or even all of them(!)" in her words. The flavors we ended on were incredible and we were thrilled with the experience. Only wish there were some cute bistro tables to sit around in the front.
google avatar

Aitana M.

Yelp
Already love sns as it is; but this store is made tops in my book by the great staff. With top praise for the remarkable Orion! She is just simply amazing: this is not only the kind of employee every business should want, but really the kind of person anyone should want to be around!
google avatar

Wella A.

Yelp
Freckled mint chocolate chip with waffle cone was soooo satisfying and delicious! And it's vegan?! Not that I am vegan, but it's not a bad thing at all for someone who has lactose intolerance.
google avatar

John F.

Yelp
Ice cream was delicious. I ike they dont have normal flavors. Other reviews claim it's to sweet. I didn't experience that seemed the same sweetness as other ice cream. I tried lavender and honey. Tasted fantastic! Waffle cones made in house!
google avatar

Christy L.

Yelp
Very good homemade ice cream! Lots of unique flavors, but they have the tried and true regular flavors too! It was busy but well staffed so the line moved quickly.
google avatar

Aileen P.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! Staff was extremely nice and helpful, gave us generous samples and asked all the right questions to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. I love how friendly and welcoming everyone was and when I came back inside to ask for a cup since I didn't finish my cone they we happy to give me one plus a spoon and napkins! I love how they have outdoor seating and a fire pit to keep warm if you go late night like I did. They also have a few vegan (dairy free) options, my boyfriend only got mint chip but the flavor was just as delicious as regular full dairy ice cream. This place is definitely worth stopping by I just wish I lived closer.
google avatar

Brad L.

Yelp
I've never heard of this, but was eating next-door at P.F. Chang's and one of the servers said it's the best ice cream in the world. Do you know what they're not mine I came next-door the gentleman behind the counter. Dylan was super nice. Let me taste a few flavors and then of course I settled on the classic chocolate shake. That's just me and I must say it's one of the better shakes. I've had in my life. I will definitely be back Can see why you're so busy with the line out the door
google avatar

Dallas A.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Best ice cream in Eugene HANDS DOWN. Salt & Straw offers a standard menu of about 15 flavors as well as a special menu of roughly five flavors that changes each month. The employees are super friendly and let you sample as many flavors as you want (which you should take advantage of if the line isn't long, because there are so many good, unique options to choose from). There isn't much room to eat inside, but there is a nice covered seating area outside with a fire pit. I'll be back as soon as I can; I can't wait to try new flavors at this place!
google avatar

Guy W.

Yelp
I was greeted with a warm welcome as soon as I stepped in the door. They offered me to sample every flavor they had, but I maxed after trying five. The shop was busy, but never felt cramped or rushed. I love the fact that they change all the flavors regularly, so there is something new for me to try every time I come in! Pro tip: they are surprising less busy in the afternoon, so swing by then if you don't want to worry about crowds.
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream wonderful service! Wish we had one closer! Love that you can get as many samples as you want and the staff is very helpful in choosing the perfect flavor!

Krystal M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing ice cream they have so many different flavors and such yummy yummy choices. I love them to death. The best ice cream I've ever had in Springfield Eugene, Oregon. Definitely be coming back here five stars.

Yelp
My husband had been wanting to try Salt and Straw since they opened, but every time we tried to go, the line was insane. I wasn't willing to line up half way across the parking lot and stand in the sun for an hour just for an ice cream cone. Last night, however, the line was much shorter and we made it a point to stop in. I must admit that I was not expecting to like it after reading the menu. They have weird flavors like olive oil and a pear and blue cheese one. There were no real "common" ice cream flavors. I fully intended on letting my husband order whatever and just trying his. That idea was before we were greeted by the staff. They have staff members come out into the line to greet you, offer samples (serious props for not using single-use plastic spoons for samples), and actually provide really legit customer service. After sampling several, I had settled on the lavender and honey flavor, and my husband picked the snickerdoodle one. We both loved them and were super happy with our choices. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed our ice cream. The waffle cones are the best I've ever had. My husband called them fragile, meaning soft, because they broke apart in just the right places, and never more than you wanted. It wasn't a messy waffle cone, if that makes sense. Now back to the customer service. Most ice cream shops have one or two employees who stand there and stare at you as you figure out what you want, and don't offer anything useful past, "what do you want?" The old get your shit and get out vibe. But not here. The staff here are with you through the entire thing, almost feeling like a full restaurant waiter level service. Whoever comes out to greet you in line is literally there helping you and only you until you've officially decided on what you want and they hand you your order before moving on to the cashier. They answer questions, give recommendations and samples, whatever you need. There was never a rush. It really felt like that one employee helping us had all the time in the world to cater to what we asked for, and I appreciate that. The level of customer service here is actually quite impressive to me, and was something my husband noticed as well. Now if my husband notices something like that, I know it's impressive! Because he rarely pays attention to things like that. Would I return? Oh my, yes! I want to go back tomorrow. Lol. It really was just that good. My husband and I both really enjoyed it. Comparing other ice cream shops around town, this is the one we both agreed that we want to come back to often to try out other items on the menu and enjoy their wonderful customer service.

Yelp
Honestly the ice cream is good, not great. This place gets incredible hype and it's probably three stars from me in regards to ice cream quality. They do have pretty cool seasonal flavorsand some vegan options, though there were chunks of ice in mine. Extra star for this location especially because they have such great and friendly employees who really care.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Totally special. This is what ice cream was meant to be. Be daring try the special monthly flavors. They are fabulous and more than rather unique. Add a waffle cone. The waffle cones are the best cones I've ever tasted. I'm especially a fan of the flavors that include fresh berries and cake. When we want a treat that's one step well above special we stop by Salt & Straw. Eugene has made it to the big time. And the servers here are great too!

Sean C.

Yelp
We recently visited Salt and Straw, I would say it is quite confusing at first since it was our first visit the service was great but I would suggest you telling them it is your first visit so they can accommodate with the flow. The line moves quickly so I would also suggest previewing the menu before getting in line to decide what you would like. The amazing thing is they let you taste everything!! The ambiance is great outside I just wish they had more seats available. The ice cream was absolutely amazing !! We had the pear and blue cheese and I highly suggest this one it's not what it sounds like it would taste if that makes sense? And the cinnamon snickerdoodle!! Both amazing, overall a great experience will definitely return!!
google avatar

Ilona S.

Yelp
Delicious yummy and WAY big portions! The let you taste any flavor you want and I tasted several before deciding. The Lavender-Honey (half a scoop) and the Strawberry-balsamic-black pepper (half a scoop) did it for me. So glad they could do half scoops so I could still have just one scoop total, because their scoops are BIG. All in a beautiful waffle cone. Delicious! And what a nice people behind the counter!!!!
google avatar

Mariah F.

Yelp
Came in and got to sample some flavors! The gentleman helping us was so kind, patient, and helpful! Truly full of knowledge about all the flavors. Made it easy to know what was in each one so we knew what we wanted. I had no intentions of ordering the "vegan" option, but it was made with coconut milk and was a chocolate chip mint and that light coconut flavor sold me! It was so clean in there and the spoon chute was so clever for the little metal tasting spoons. Upscale and delicious. Easy to order and extremely quick service. Spendy little place, but I think that's all in the experience and is to be expected of a place like this in the setting it's in! Was around $5.25 I believe for a single scoop in a bowl. Definitely a special treat for a hot day.
google avatar

Makenzie Y.

Yelp
When I found out Salt & Straw was coming to Eugene I was so so pumped! And it has not disappointed since being open. They have weird flavors (Olive Oil, Pear & Blue Cheese) and normal flavors too! They also have a few Vegan options that are better than just plain vanilla. They have a list of staple flavors and a list of flavors that changes monthly which is super fun to go try the new ones! Even if they look crowded with a long line, they move fast. And don't forget to sample to see what you love the most! It isn't too pricey, and one scoop is plenty, so go enjoy!
google avatar

Kambria G.

Yelp
Not your ordinary ice cream shop... very different flavors and an alternating menu which is great but also not so great when your favorite flavors disappear. Unlimited free samples. Little spendy. Definitely a must try at least once.
google avatar

Cianna B.

Yelp
Was lucky enough to be able to go on opening morning and it did not disappoint! We waited outside by the fire pit in a little benched seating area, perfect for a chilly morning. The first 100 customers received a special shirt for coming on opening day. There was a lot of excitement around the opening day and everyone was very friendly. We tasted a few of the seasonal flavors and decided on bottomless limes (key lime pie-like) and salted malted cookie dough, in waffle cones of course. A really memorable morning and we can't wait to return.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Amazing flavors, seasonal specials with local berries. I love the lavender honey, pear blue cheese, coffee, banana bread, and balsamic strawberry. So good, you can sample a few and leave happy with your favorite!
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
Worth the hype and even the line. Depending on the day and time it won't be that bad of a wait. We came at 9pm on a Sat and it was quick. The flavors always change which is what I love. Always interesting and different. Fast service. Kind employees. If you have kids, this is a great stop!
google avatar

Jon W.

Yelp
Only worth it if no line and you are really craving g something .. was was craving pear and blue so I made a quick run over Need more fish sauce flavor

Kris G.

Yelp
I was greeting as soon as I walked in and it was excellent customer service from the get go! Super friendly customer service even though it was close to closing time. The flavor choices were so overwhelming but the staff offer samples and are knowledgeable about and can describe all the flavors in detail if you want. I did find the ice cream a bit in the sweet side but delightfully delicious! Definitely recommend for the great service and flavors!
