Google
Just stepped out for ice cream and got to know of this place. Lovely location with parking with convenience and a different kind of combinations to choose from including vegan.. absolute delight.. would love to come again and try their different varieties which are very interesting

Didn't realize a Salt & Straw opened in LG! Since I don't do dairy anymore, my favorite non-dairy option is the strawberry coconut...really tasty! Kid scoop $5.25 Parking is super tough in the immediate parking lots. I've been to this location a few times now...so just park wherever you see a spot first! I usually park across the street near the lululemon. Great dessert option after eating telefaric!

Google
Heard a lot about this place from family and friends. They have a lot of interesting and rare flavours worth trying - strawberry balsamic gets a high recommendation. The store is small and there is indoor seating and public outdoor seatings in a nice courtyard. Can't wait to try their other exotic flavours!

Zsuzsanna S.

Google
My favorite ice cream shop. They have unusual flavors and seasonals as well. Usually 3 vegan options - recommend the mint chocolate one, and a vegan seasonal flavor as well. You can taste as many flavors as you want. Get ready for long lines, but fast service. Cup or waffle cones, buy a larger amount in a container or get their recipe book.

Google
Salt & Straw is usually one of my go-to spots, and I’m a big fan of their unique flavors. This location is clean, the ice cream tastes great, and even the restroom was spotless—which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the service here really brought the experience down. The staff seemed unfriendly and dismissive, which is surprising since Salt & Straw usually has such a warm and welcoming vibe. This team seriously needs to work on their customer service. Good ice cream, but bad attitude.

Yitian X.

Google
Went there with a friend and had a great time. The staff member was great and you can try samples of the ice cream flavors. They also have some super unique flavors that I haven't seen anywhere else. We got the double scoop and the flavors were pumpkin pie tiramisu and caramel apple sorbet. If you're in the area be sure to check them out! (The boba in the pictures is not from the shop)

Val

Google
I love all their flavors with cheese. The blue cheese and pear is a fix item in the menu, a must have! But I tried several seasonal options with different cheese types and their were all amazing!

Google
Amazing and exciting flavours. We tried coffee and love nuts Gooey chocolate fudge Both flavors were rich and super yum. Definitely try limited edition flavors. They are so accommodating and let you taste as many flavors as you want. Amazing and friendly staff.

Yelp
I just realized I haven't reviewed this place! It's probably my favorite vegan ice cream; the Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge has me in a chokehold. It's perfect for peanut butter lovers. I've also had the Strawberry and Coconut Water Sherbet and sampled the Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip. The Strawberry Sherbet is tasty, but I'm not a fan of Mint Chocolate Chip, so I wouldn't order a scoop of that. I love that they have rotating specials, so there's always new vegan flavors to explore. Even though I don't visit often enough to try every monthly special, I appreciate having the option. The staff is always super friendly and helpful no matter how busy they get. I'm not a huge dessert person, but every now and then, I like to indulge, and I never regret grabbing Salt & Straw. This place will forever be in my rotation when my sweet tooth is calling.

Yelp
salty, crumbly, creamy, THICK. they do not play with their quality here. finally an ice cream that doesn't melt within 5 minutes of receiving. they have way more interesting flavors too. there was a matcha one i tried with chocolate covered cricket a while back for halloween. VERY GOOD

Yelp
Service and overall experience does not get much better than this. I was greeted immediately by a nice gentleman, who welcomed me with a smile. I told him it's my first time and he proceeded to rave about all of the ice cream options, and even allowed me to sample multiple flavors. I ended up getting a seasonal apple donut flavor, and it was spectacular. 5/5 easily. Highly recommend

Yelp
Came here to try savory ice cream for the first time in my life! Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the staff behind the counter were very patient and helpful as I tried a couple of flavors before deciding on a combo. I really like how they offer the option for a split scoop here so you can squeeze in two flavors into one small cup. I went with the arbequina olive paired with the gruyere and tomato tart (which I think had some bacon bits in it as well?) Absolutely delicious combo and I can't wait to try whatever savory flavor specials pop up on the menu next month! Hopefully they'll do some Gilroy Garlic-style ice cream one of these months just for fun :)

Yelp
First time at this location, I usually go to the Valley Fair location. I came here with a family and we had fun trying the interesting flavors they had for summer. I tried a pickle sorbet and it was not for me. I ended up being so basic and got vanilla and a cherry topping. I know these cherries are good and expensive but it was a little sad only getting one small cherry. Maybe have two options and offer the cheap cherries too. Either way, it was delicious and I'll come back for their fall series soon.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever had anything but a good experience at a Salt & Straw, and this LG location isn't any different! Friendly staff, incredible & innovative ice cream flavors, vegan selection, non-plastic sample spoons, and generous scoops! My husband and I popped in recently to grab a pint of our favorite flavor, Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip (vegan), which by the way won over everyone at my mother-in-law's birthday dinner a couple of months ago (even the non-vegan adults & kiddos)! We also came in last month for their Valentine's Day BOGO special, which was a treat to say the least! Shout out to Brie who was very friendly and enthusiastic about new flavors we asked about, as well as the girl at the register was also super friendly (didn't get her name, but they both were working in the early evening on 2/14/25 and she's in one of the photos I added to this review). The only thing that's sometimes a bummer is their late hours of operation: 1pm-10pm Mon-Thu, and 12pm-11pm Fri-Sun. The first time we came here, it was before noon on a weekday and we didn't realize at the time it wasn't open until 1pm. It would be great if they opened at least by noon, and maybe close a tad bit earlier, because who's really getting ice cream at 10 or 11pm, right? Maybe people in Los Gatos like late night ice cream runs, who knows! ;)

Yelp
I kind of have an obsession with Salt & Straw--and honestly, I'm not mad about it. I love trying out funky flavor combos (people always look at me weird when I say Salt & Straw's olive oil is my favorite), and their limited monthly menus never disappoint. May's lineup was especially fun. The Los Gatos location was the best experience I've had with Salt & Straw. The staff was super friendly and patient and let us sample all five of the May flavors, including chocolate peanut butter chili crisp and coffee chamomile. I ended up getting the matcha matcha man, and it totally surprised me. The matcha isn't super strong, but it's perfectly balanced with sea salt and a bit of orange citrus. My boyfriend got the vanilla custard with butterscotch swirls, which tasted like real custard--creamy and eggy in a good way. Salt & Straw never stops coming up with creative, unique flavors, and I'll keep coming back for more.

Yelp
Our fave place to get ice cream. There's plenty of parking, they're open late, and the staff is great. We're a huge fan of their rotating flavors, so if you're looking for something new to try Salt & Straw always has something different each month.
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
It's always fun to venture into Salt & Straw and see what unique flavors they have in rotation. I've been to a couple other locations either in Portland or California at different times of the year and it seems to be pretty consistent that they always have their regular staple flavors, and then some more seasonal flavors. I visited this location in the fall, and sure enough they had their Halloween flavors ready to go! The service here was great! The young guy working was eager to talk about any and all of the flavors that people had questions about, and offer samples galore. After trying a few, I ended up getting a pint of one of their staple flavors to bring home. The shop is located in downtown Los Gatos' Old Town. The shop is spacious, though parking here can be limited if you come by on a weekend or evening. Good thing there's two other parking lots and some small garages nearby.

Yelp
Nice Salt and Straw location in a pretty part of downtown. I would have liked to have a water station (especially for the summer), but overall this was a standard, good experience with friendly employees. The plaza outdoors is picturesque and has some benches, but I would have like the option of having some indoor seating. As is always the case with Salt and Straw, their ice cream is on the pricier and more "foodie" side of the spectrum. Would recommend checking out their monthly flavor series of rotating ice cream flavors (you can also find it on their website)!
google avatar

Therese A.

Yelp
Came twice in the last month just because of a strong craving for ice cream and of course because I really like Salt & Straw. Large scoops, so we got double scoop instead of half and half. Bonus is getting a waffle cone and a cup so that you can share with another person by transferring a scoop onto the cone for sharing purposes! Honestly flavors are hit or miss so I'm really glad that they provide samples. The apple series was exciting with flavors ranging from super sweet to just unique, no other way to describe it. I personally liked the apple vanilla custard tart very much! Strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper was too sour in bites but yummy in others, but would not get it again. This location is great since you can get your ice cream, sit outside and enjoy your company in a small plaza. Parking is rough during the day, but at night it's great because this location closes later than the Valleyfair one. Service is patient and friendly!

Yelp
I wandered by one hot afternoon and decided to stop in as, believe it or not, I had never tried Salt & Straw before. Their regular offerings are a bit on the sweet side for me, but I ended up getting a kids size scoop of the goat cheese-marionberry-habanero and it was perfection. Highly recommend. Fairly easy parking too. There's a few restaurants in the area so it can get busy but not bad if you go during off-hours.

Yelp
Delicious flavors to beat the heat this summer! My friend and I came here after watching Jazz in the Plazz, and it was a walkable distance from the park. I saw plenty of parking, so it wouldn't have been an issue if we drove there. Plus, there's a lot of free parking in the garages after 6 pm. I don't have to speak for Salt and Straw because it's a well-known chain that originated from Portland. They sometimes have unique, sometimes unconventional, flavors, as well as seasonal and limited edition flavors. The shop was set up similarly to other Salt and Straws, where you queue up to be served. The server will ask which flavors you want to try and you could probably try them all if you're bold and unabashed. The guy who helped us was really patient and even gave us recommendations, since there were a lot of cool flavors. One of the fun limited edition flavors I chose was spinach cake with chocolate tahini fudge. This was a part of their "Veggies You Crave" line, which they no longer have. If my parents had introduced this "healthier" ice cream to hide veggies back then, I would've been all in as a kid. Overall, nice experience here in the Los Gatos location!
google avatar

Claudia M.

Yelp
I can't think of a single flavor that isn't amazing. The pear/blue cheese and honey lavender are amazing. So is the Strawberry Balsamic Black Pepper. Thick and creamy and delicious. Dense. Always a wonderful treat. The service is always excellent and there is room outside to sit in different places but this is definately a quick ice cream stop to take out.

Yelp
This is my favorite ice cream store in Los Gatos. I love all the exotic flavors and they're very generous with samples so they have my heart. The employees are always happy to talk about how much they love it here. I had the apple pie ice cream tonight and it was insanely delicious. They're open until 11 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 10 PM the rest of the week.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and creative flavors. I want to come back to try more. The staff was friendly and the line long. Bright and cheery location. Two cheers for ice cream!
google avatar

Yelp
Decadent and so satisfying on this hot day. I got the split scoop, salted caramel ribbon with chocolate malt cookie dough. Next time I'll stick just to caramel ribbon (they were out of my favorite, ooey gooey brownie.) Definitely get the waffle cone, it's well worth it!

Yelp
Salt & Stone in Los Gatos delivers high-end ice cream at its finest, and they even offer vegan options--a must for those with allergies or gluten sensitivities. Allie provided exceptional service, going above and beyond to take care of us and recommend some of her favorite flavors to sample. She was kind, welcoming, and made the experience memorable. I chose the vegan mint chip, and it was both delicious and satisfying. Bonus: they also offer pup cups for your furry friends!

Yelp
I never not order chocolate but this day I decided to try something new. This was on their limited menu; Smoked Macaroni and Cheese. It did taste like it, the smokiness was subtle. I love Salt and Straw for their unique combinations and offerings. It was empty on a Tuesday evening. The gal that helped me was so kind.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place when looking for a late night dessert when visiting the area. One big plus is they were open till late. We went in and were very intrigued with the very non traditional flavors! We literally tasted half their menu and every item was a blast of flavors!! There are some common flavors but most of them are very unique! They also have vegan icecreams which have coconut cream or oat milk and they were sooooo good!! Here are some of our favorites: coconut cake and pineapple jam, marionberry oat cobbler, lavender honey, strawberry balsamic vinegar, pear and blue cheese. The place has a lovely interior, very spacious with good amount of parking. The service was wonderful and the girl who helped us was super patient and knowledgeable! And their tasting spoons are steel!!!! That is so honestly so well thought out! The only flip side was we didn't see a place to sit and eat inside. We got a split cup of coconut pineapple ans marionberry oat and got a pint of honey lavender! Highly recommend this place for it's unique flavors.

Yelp
Could not have worked out better! It was a hot day last week, in the mid 90s, and I dropped in. No line, everyone was in a good mood and the ice cream was fantastic! I have always liked Salt and Straw's "limited edition" flavors. Often I am surprised at how well they combine things that should not go together, but it always does (especially on Halloween)! They never let me down. On this visit, I split a scoop of Grilled Peach White Chocolate Custard with Cinnamon & Honey Fried Chicken. It was perfect! Also, there are a lot of benches scattered around Old Town Los Gatos, so you can chill out and savor your Salt and Straw.

Yelp
The ice cream was good. I got gooey chocolate brownie in a waffle cone. And every month they have new combinations of ice cream available for that month. The staff was supper nice, friendly, and helpful, encourage sampling. And the store was a mice ice cream shop look with a few seats to perch.

Anahi C.

Yelp
I love coming here. I used to hate ice cream, normally a frozen yogurt person over ice cream, till I came to Salt & Straw. I love it. Not to mention they have vegan, dairy free options! I wish those options were a bit larger. Although, I tend to go with the same flavor over and over again, it's soo good. I love that the staff are welcoming, it adds to the experience, and the shop ambiance is fun/comforting. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Yelp
Friendly and prompt service on a Sunday afternoon. The lot in front makes it easy to find parking even on a weekend afternoon and the service here is great. We tried a handful of samples, but ended up going with the chocolate chip and pumpkin bread flavors.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
I'm so glad they opened this location! I've been a loyal customer since my time in LA during college. My absolute favorite is the Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (keep repeating it and it turns into a chant on your car ride to the store). The store has a similar appearance to other locations and the worker was very welcoming and offered any samples we wanted. One downside to this location is that they have very limited seating inside and outside. Pro tip: grab a pint to go and you get the equivalent of three scoops for the price of two.

Yelp
Service: great (yesterday in particular) we went and the sweet tall Asian guy helped us without making us feel weird for wanting to try more than 2 flavors. Ambience: basic Ice Cream: really nice. Doesn't give you a heavy afterwards and some of the flavors are really delicious. · Strawberry balsamic with black pepper - LOVE THIS ONE. Sharp tangy strawberries flavor with a light creamy-ness. I like refreshing flavors. · Sea Salf Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough- a little too salted for me. · Honey Lavender: you can definitely taste the lavender flavor and then regular vanilla sweet taste. · Cinnamon Snikerdoodle: nice clear cinnamon flavor with creamy crunchy texture - Love this too. · Feckled Mint ChocolateChip - I love mint but this flavor was more sweet and less minty! I love alot of mint flavor. · Arbequina Olive Oil -SKIP! · Chocolate Gooey Brownie - loved it · Red Velvet (limited edition flavor)- good but red velvet cake feels dry. This place is becoming a favorite place for Sunday evening family outing.

Yelp
Fancy ice cream. Never been to a Slat & Straw before and have been wanting to for a while now. The inside is very nice and upscale with a minimalist vibe. The flavors were some of the strangest flavors of ice cream I've seen like olive oil or blue cheese & pear. I had ordered the red velvet cake along with the bananas foster. The red velvet cake was ok and had chunks of cake in it but the cake was dry. The Batna's foster was amazing! Carmel and almonds mixed in made it very tasty! If I could I'd pass on the red velvet and try something else but that Banana foster hit it out of the park! I would definitely come back and recommend this place to any ice cream lover!
google avatar

Yelp
Unique flavors. Based on the names a lot I would not have tried but Shane took care of us and encouraged us to sample as many flavors as we liked. My wife and I ended up ordering flavors we would if never have even tried. So good! Shane deserves a promotion.

Yelp
We had a great experience here. Since we have dietary restrictions, the staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating and they let us know all the details of the ingredients in the ice creams we wanted to purchase. They answered all of our questions. The location is good with decent ambience, has a plenty of seating and lots of parking. We really appreciate that they accommodated that well and we recommend coming to this location.

Yelp
I haven't been to Salt n straw ever and I was not disappointed! They have a lot of hype, and now I get it. I got the olive oil ice cream ,which I did not expect I'd like, however I LOVED it! My daughter got the honey lavender, my son who is pictured got the gooey chocolate brownie and my husband got the snickerdoodle. I really with I could use expletives on yelp. Because holy shhhiiiiiizzzzzz. First of all, I haven't met happier people working in this type of establishment. Well done Salt & straw! The store itself is super cute and clean. The clean part is also uncommon for ice cream parlors. Again, well done. But the flavors?! Yeah. Whoa. Unique and truly interesting. I'm a vanilla person normally. But i definitely will be coming back to have several other flavors. I actually can't wait LOL
google avatar

Glen N.

Yelp
My favorite Salt & Straw, maybe because the one at Valley Fair gives me line anxiety. The Valley Fair location used to have a roped-off line area, but the idiots there wouldn't use it. Now, they just pile up at the door blocking traffic until I become a Progressive Insurance "Dad" and redirect the line. The Los Gatos one has no lines and everyone is as sweet at Chocolate Gooey Brownie.
google avatar

Yelp
Best ice cream I've ever had!! This was my best friend and I's first time having salt and straw after waiting for months! Cam was so helpful, friendly, and energetic at helping us chose our flavors and we are so thankful! 11/10 would recommend any newcomers to give this place a try! Beautiful store front too- just be aware no indoor seating. $7 for split single scoop; $6.50 for single scoop. Very unique flavors and selection!

Yelp
First time stopping in and was a little overwhelmed with choices. Christian helped us choose the perfect flavors by describing each of the ice creams and flavor combos. We enjoyed our experience. We will drop in again soon!

Yelp
Great product and friendly service. There's a bit of a wait to get ice cream last night . Got one of the seasonal flavors , it was delicious

Yelp
This store replaced the White House Black Market location in Downtown Los Gatos, which I was bummed about. Fortunately, there's plenty of parking in the plaza and lots of street parking if you continue through University Ave and turn right. I took advantage of their opening coupon which offers for a buy one get one free scoop to share with a friend and went with three of mine so we would be able to try the maximum number of flavors, haha. The service here is excellent, despite just recently opening it's on par with the Salt & Straw locations in Palo Alto and Valley Fair. We tried a good number of samples before I settled on the Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip (nondairy) and my friends settled on the Marionberry Coconut Sherbet (nondairy), Coffee & Love Nuts, & Honey Lavender. Normally I do get an order from their Upcycled Foods series, but that day I was feeling like sticking to the classics. The Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip was delicious, I'm more of a fan of the mint part of mint chocolate chip so the smaller flecks of chocolate chips were perfect for me! My friend liked her Marionberry Coconut Sherbet and added a cone on top of her cup! The cone was a little overcooked/hardened on one side, which she wasn't a big fan of. My friend who got the Coffee & Love Nuts flavor got a cone that wasn't overcooked, so that definitely varies by person (they do make their cones in-house, after all). She was happy with hers and it was sufficiently rich, but I think my friend who got Honey Lavender was least excited about hers. She found it bland after a while, the taste wore off for her while it stayed for the rest of ours. We sat inside on the red benches while eating and watching other patrons sample flavors and order, after a while of people watching we noticed that everyone either brought in a dog or a baby (this is Los Gatos, after all...) Just thought it was interesting since we were the only 20 somethings in the store besides the workers! Downtown Los Gatos definitely gained another great business to add to their ever-growing list of higher end brands.

Yelp
Was craving some boutique ice cream during the heat wave. Very happy to have found this! Tried different flavors. The person at the los gatos facility was nonchalant and non interactive. But hey, ice cream is supposed to fix everything right? Got the lavender and candy halloween one. Best part is that my blood sugar didnt rise a lot, so it was totally worth it!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Great service, clean and quick! Been here a few times and there is never a wait on the weekend (at least the many times I have gone), which is great! No seating options inside, which is common for salt and straw. Plenty of seating options outside. Honey lavender will always be my favorite classic flavor but I am always excited to try the limited flavors of the month.
google avatar

Todd S.

Yelp
Where's the Rhubarb? Honestly, we are kinda "over" S&S.... Two Reasons: the flavors have become too subtle & the quality of the product does not live up to the hype anymore.... Several times over the past year (last night being the last straw...(pun intended!) )....we've gotten a scoop or two and there's NO Swirl/Goodies in the ice cream! Imaging waiting all season for a scoop of Berry Slab Pie....to find NO Berry Slab Pie in your cone?? It's happened.....to us and to friends. We do not suffer alone... Anyways...I'm still looking for the Rhubarb from my Rhubarb Crumble from last nights treat.... Looks like we'll just go back to our old consistent friends, Ben & Jerry...

Yelp
So excited to have this chain arrive! We have been loyal fans of its stores in Portland, where there were always lines out the door (even in a VERY competitive artisan ice cream market there). Staff here in Los Gatos were really nice and the flavor assortment is both clever and extensive. Top quality and rich ice cream with takeout pint and quart containers as well. What a fabulous asset for Silicon Valley!
google avatar

Yelp
Great vegan and egg free options as well. They always have interesting flavors to try.

Yelp
Stopped in after dinner at nearby Teleferic Barcelona. LOTS of creative flavors and choices. Shout out to the guy who served us for the large double scoop! Had the olive oil and coffee with love nuts. Both were great and we enjoyed it outside where there was a good amount of space to sit and enjoy!
google avatar

Kartika H.

Yelp
i will say perfect combination: sea salt with caramel ribbons and salted, malted, chocolate chip cookie dough. salty and sweet mixed together in this summer season makes me wow!!! staffs are nice with great service. the location is perfect and you can just sit outdoor and enjoy the vibes...

Cielo N.

Yelp
Been going to this location since they first opened, Love the ambience, the workers and most importantly the ice cream! Well worth coming in to grab a scoop or two!!
google avatar

Yelp
The service was great young lady was super helpful and let us try several different flavors!

Grant M.

Yelp
Very good ice cream including some unusual flavors. Staff was nice about it when my daughter dropped her ice cream cone on the floor.
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
I don't know why but I always feel guilty asking to try more than 2 samples but the staff here seemed so nice and didn't mind that I tried like 5 flavors. Does anyone else feel guilty like me?! Anyway, I found my new favorite go-to flavor from the samples- chocolate brownie is the bomb!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a split scoop salted Carmel ribbon with gooey brownie in a cone.So good! Very large portions! My husband pinto poached pear sherbet he loved it! I had a taste it was so good
