Ok, so. we three ladies, I'm a senior and my two companions are close behind. We were first met with an unhelpful bell person while we tried to find parking. My one companion had a recent heart transplant, and there is no handicapped parking. If there is, we were not made privy of this. That is on Hawk's Cay resort, not really Salt and Ash, but I digress. Eventually we had no choice but to valet the car. We found our way and were pleasantly greeted by the host staff. Sat on the deck, nice table, we were happy. We have Rebecca as a server. She was very pleasant and did a good job. We ordered our cocktails, one was incorrect, they fixed it quickly. We ordered the Butternut Squash Anglioti - it was AMAZING! So delicious! I will return just for this dish. We ordered the mushroom pizza, which we also like very much, and the Cauliflower, and that one, wasn't "bad' but, meh. The seasoning was not anything special, and the very tart hummus under the head was good and very smooth, but did not pair well with the cauliflower, maybe consider a cheesy cauliflower puree unstead? Now, as an ex-F&B director of a major hotel brand as well as GM for a well know Steak House, I am going to share here a few issues I see that can be addressed and make the service go much smoother. #1, re-number your tables and assigned the chairs a number as well. I watched all night the food runners - not knowing where to go, and "auctioning" off food. Not one plate was placed down in front of a guest without a runner having to call out the item and most plates went to at least one wrong table before getting to the correct one. If you put the order in as, table 12 -seat b, table 12, seat A and know the way you're seating works - clockwise etc- this will end that disruption and your staff will feel better about it all too. The staff all seemed very nervous, and not in a "we're new and it's all new, kind of way, they seemed like they were expecting to be court marshalled. lol. I could see how on edge they all were. With the sent back French Marini, 3 different staff members were looking actually frightened. The bartender was made to bring out the correct drink, I don't see why that had to happen. Things happen, mistakes are made, correct them, apologize, move on. I do look forward to going back again when they have their full sea legs.
