We loved the atmosphere and the food/drinks we had. Bathrooms were clean. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Free parking lot had very limited space. We had to pay to park on the street. Good variety of food options.

Google
Lots of seating space, clean, organized and well lit! Everyone was very helpful. Great bar with cocktails. Different types of cuisines, they have Arab, Ethiopian, Mexican, American, Italian among others! It’s a great place to chill and eat!

Super awesome vibes! Coffee in the morning and bar in the afternoon. Lots of comfortable seating and perfect for studying or WFH crews. Nice staff and clean bathrooms

My Sister-in-law took a chance when SCM said, “No, we don’t do private events…but we’d like too! Do you want to be our first?” She did! And Soulutions, the desserts and the bar staff were all first rate! We throughly enjoyed ourselves!

Google
There is a great food selection, depending on your palette there is something for everyone, and a great service. When I went the most memorable thing that I got was the espresso martini for their bar. The atmosphere is very calm as well.

Google
Decent place for a quick bite or a drink or coffee Definitely recommend the Taco place or the Mediterranean place Very limited parking with choice of street parking Food was fresh though not very flavorful I would definitely make a second visit Nice place to seat and relax !

We went in the middle of February when it was snowing and again this past week to have dinner. Every place we tried was excellent. Parking is limited so we ended up on the street. This past week they had a fun Latin dance DJ outside. People were able to get a drink and dance while my kids played on the playground.

I was not aware of this establishment until I saw it on another app. This event definitely had me out of my comfort zone for trying new cultures of food! I rarely try any foods that are not American or Italian. I was surprised by some of the tastings that I actually enjoyed, the Ethiopian and Jamaican were both very good! I think the sample from the Jamaican was my favorite, jerk chicken Rasta bites! The cornbread with Philly steak on top was also at the top of my list. I made my way to the coctail bar but unfortunately just couldn't seem to get up to the servers. I tried a few times but with other events in town and the beautiful weather I think we arrived on a high traffic evening! I love the outdoor patio with music playing, that was hopping as well! I definitely will come back with friends to check out this scene again and hopefully score a drink or two next time!

Yelp
Salt city is a true one stop shop, basically anything you want - it's just a few steps away. Thai, sweets, Ethiopian, cocktails, Vietnamese - she's all there. The cocktails are delicious and the bartenders are friendly. The fact that you can go with a group of friends and get completely different things - especially when you're friends are either picky eaters or have dietary restrictions gives it 5 stars alone.

Yelp
Wonderful variety of food vendors - including a current pop-up with Doomsday Pasta. I'm an especially big fan of Baghdad Restaurant and Mamma Hai, though on my most recent visit I grabbed both a savory and sweet bun from SinBun and cereal milk latte from Salt City Coffee. Everything I've tried from the various vendors & over my multiple visits has been delicious though... there's something to fit every palate. There's also plenty of different seating, a cute little gift shop, and a lovely little cooperative market. The overall design of the market is inviting and modern. My most recent visit was on a Friday afternoon, and I was able to find street parking just a short bit across the road from the main entrance. Parking is probably the most inconvenient part about visiting... sometimes you get lucky with timing, and sometimes it's just a bit more of a walk.

Yelp
I am so obsessed with this place! I love the variety of food you can get. They have everything from Halal to Japanese, Korean to Spanish. Every time I have visited, I've tried something different. My first visit I had Souloutions BBQ. Which was so yummy! With well seasoned ribs, some of the world's best greens, and a side of banana pudding. On my next few visits, we tried tacos, Korean sliders, and macarons. In the morning, we visited the coffee bar. When I tell you that this place has everything, I mean it! I love the fact that this place is so involved in the community as well, and each business has some sort of community involvement. The signs posted throughout give you information listing the volunteer activities and community outreach programs. Love the fact that this place exists!

Yelp
Came here on Thursday night and after looking at all the different spots and their menus, I decided to order from the Baghdad restaurant. I ordered the bowl and asked the cashier if she liked the falafel better or the shawarma chicken and she said the falafel so I went with her choice! I am glad I did because it was delicious! I got it with all the fixings and it was a great portion with great flavors. I was very happy with my choice. The hummus was SO good. Another member in my party ordered the chicken shawarma platter and so I tried the chicken and agreed the falafel was better. Other people in my group went to the barbecue spot and really enjoyed their meal as well! So even though I didn't order from there I got to try their food and it was great! The cornbread, collard greens and yams were top notch! Overall, love a food hall and this one was a nice one! Great options and the prices are completely fair!

Yelp
The market's grown so much since it first opened! Several of the vendors have switched over, but they've stayed consistently awesome. Always a mix of diverse and interesting vendors, and with additions like Sinbun and Habiba's it just keeps getting better! It's nice that they made Clinton Street two ways but parking is still a bit tough in this area, and depending on what time of day you come you may have to park a couple of blocks away. Love seeing how community centric this spot is, and the variety of groups they invite in, from chefs popping up in the teaching kitchen to artisan vendors setting up stalls in the parking lots during the summers. A great spot to go in Syracuse, whether you're just passing through the city or live here full time.

Yelp
I like the concept of this market. It has a food co-op market and many different cuisines represented in the restaurants they have here. I love that the members in our family could each get something from a different establishment if we wanted. They have soul food, middle eastern food, Vietnamese food, dessert, a bar, and more. We plan to return and try other things! The parking lot is small and not in the best neighborhood.
google avatar

Allison Z.

Yelp
Great variety and plenty of spaces to sit down for a meal or to catch up with friends. I will often grab a cocktail or coffee and set up with my laptop to do some work by the bar. I love that I can get so many different things in one place! I've tried many different kinds of cuisine I've never had access to before. The outside space is has a beautiful mural and plenty of seating too!!

Yelp
We were visiting Syracuse when my wife happened to find this place. This was a gem of a find, and one I'm so glad we visited. Visiting from Buffalo, we have a lot of diverse foods in a food court setting similar to the concept of this place, but this place was still a lot better. They had a variety of foods from Jamaican, Arabic, Thai, Vietnamese, Western food, baked goods, etc. We decided to try the Jamaican food and some Iraqi food. I was born and raised overseas, lived in a few countries, and its been decades since I had an authentic shawarma like the one of El Baghdad. We have a ton of Arabic restaurants in our city, but they all tend to adapt the food to taste the local taste. Sometimes I wonder if the locals would really like their adaptation more than the authentic version. Either way, we cant wait to visit again to try some of their other offerings. We loved the variety of cuisines, the service, the ordering system, the prices, the clean bathrooms, the clean facility, and the ambiance. If anything, I would only wish the parking situation in the area was easier.

Yelp
avoid the taco spot unless u wanna wait 18 mins for two near empty tacos thai was really good cool addition to syracuse

Yelp
SO MANY OPTIONS!!!! I ended up at Baghdads.... I went for Miss Prissy, but apparently that spot is no longer located here. There are international foods, bakery items, coffee bar, and others. Can't go wrong! It was a cool experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Sin bun was my choice this visit but there are many wonderful multi cultural foods to choose from. I went with the combo choosing the savory bun Chicken Bacon Ranch, fries with garlic aioli, and a cherry limeade. The bun is soft, savory, and inside more bacon pieces adding to the bacon layered on top with the chicken popper pieces and ranch drizzle. The fries were hand seasoned, crispy outside soft inside and a mouth bursting with flavor in every garlicky bite. The cherry limeade was refreshing and lighter than most sodas in carbonation. Not a soda fan the flavor was good enough that I drank half which says a lot! Went 11:30 on a Wednesday found parking on street by side entrance thankfully on a very windy and rainy day. Will be back to try another spot just not sure which one yet. Will be hard not to return to Sin bun first but will be back after I try the others.

Yelp
Love this concept! So many choices and everyone should be able to find a something they like. I chose Sinbun for my breakfast/lunch and was not disappointed. My cream brulee bun was a cinnamon bun with home made custard on top and around the sides with sugar crackle on top with a strawberry. My friend got a cheeseburger bun and she liked it. I also got a pour over coffee at salt city coffee and it was amazing. They gave me an actual little pot and a real cup!! I love drinking out of a real cup and not paper. It was a pleasant experience and I will go back.

Yelp
Great variety of food choices from all nationalities . Staff very helpful. Directly across the street from the hotel. Really fun to try the different options available.
google avatar

Letia C.

Yelp
What a cool place to try different cuisines. As soon as you walk in it's like you're transported to somewhere different. There's so many different eateries to choose from. Definitely stop by the bar, the bartender was super friendly.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
We were in Syracuse for family weekend and had heard good things about Salt City Market and it did not disappoint! We chose the Ethiopian restaurant, as neither of us have ever had that. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was GREAT! We will definitely be looking for Ethiopian cuisine closer to home, in hopes that it will be similar. SCM has something for just about everyone; it's like an upscale, ethnically-diverse food court. Check the website, as some vendors are closed on certain days of the week.
google avatar

Elise B.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place! All the different foods, vibe and atmosphere. The Ethiopian food was amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Salt City Market is a food court with International and Regional Cuisines from local entrepreneurs. Not your "run of the mill" mall choices and No chains. Choices are Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese, Ethiopian, Jamaican, Southern Soul, a full service bar, coffee bar and Cake Bar. Pictured is Solutions - Crispy seasoned and fried chicken wings, sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese. It also came with Collard greens and cornbread. Hot, fresh and excellent. The other picture is my Babaganoush from Baghdad . Homemade, smokey and creamy eggplant perfectly seasoned with a large pita for dipping I love that it is downtown Syracuse in an Urban setting. It is clean and bright inside and the vendors are very friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Salt City Market is a great spot. There is a lot of variety and the vibe is really chill. It's a nice place to meet friends, grab a drink, and enjoy some good food. It's spacious on the inside and even has a cute outdoor area for Kids. The customer service at both places was excellent and the food was fresh. We tried the Jamaican food and the Southern Food and enjoyed it. I would love to try the other places that had wonderful options next time.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is really cool. I love a good food hall, and this one has it all. Grab some Thai and then a piece of cake. Check! Great proximity to some local hotels.

Yelp
Salt City Market is phenomenal!! The variety of options is truly fun and we've eaten at 4 separate locations and they have all been amazing. It truly appears to be a situation where you can't go wrong and that excites he to keep coming back for more. This most recent trip we stopped at Baghdad and Soulutions and they both blew us away. Huge shout-out to the falafel though from Baghdad as the star of the show. It was perfection in taste and texture and the best I've ever had. The slammin' yams from Soulutions was a star in its own right, if you like sweet stuff like me, dive in mouth first! There is so much more to be had here and I can't encourage you enough to go and try it out. There is a small market with plenty of organic options and a surprisingly solid selection of fresh produce. There's also a bar attached for you to hang and chill longer. If you haven't already been, get going and Enjoy!!

Yelp
Naturally one of the best places to go for drinks/food/vibes in downtown cuse. It's an indoor market with a variety of diverse food. To name a few - soul food, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Ethiopian, Jamaican, among many others. I've tried almost all of them at this point lol. The bar staff is top notch and these people know how to make a good drink. There's plenty of seating, and sometimes they play sports games on the big screen. There's also fire pits and seating outside during the warmer months. Always clean and inviting. Great for people watching / meeting new people!! I love that it's a 15 min walk from my apartment. Go here if you're ever in cuse!

Yelp
The flavors captured in these dishes were crazy. Would totally recommend trying this place out. This food was from the Baghdad restaurant but all of the different restaurants looked amazing as well.

Yelp
Food Halls are always my go-to when I'm looking for somewhere to eat in a new city. My husband and I shared: - Fried Vermicelli (Kya Zan Kyaw) from Big In Burma - Marco Polo Banh Mi and Bao Bun from Mama Hai - Gyro Lamb Iraqi Saj with Fries from Baghdad - Apple Cake from Cake Bar We really enjoyed everything. If I had to pick a favorite, I think it would be the Bao Bun from Mama Hai and the Fried Vermicelli from Big In Burma. There were many other spots I wanted to try and a few that weren't open that I'd love to go back to next time I'm in Syracuse. The parking lot is small, but we managed to get a spot.

Yelp
This place is just awesome and I'm so glad we got a chance to visit! There are so many kinds of food to try and both drinks and desserts as well! I love the variety and you could try something new every day of the week without going to the same vendor. There is tons of seating both inside or out and a bar with late service as well. Awesome place can't wait to come try something else!

Jon M.

Yelp
It was pretty good but not great. Need at least one food option that is more appealing to the masses.
google avatar

Rebecca F.

Yelp
This is the happiest lunch stop for a group. With such a wide variety of foods to choose from, everyone can find something that is soooo delicious! If you're stopping for a quick bite or having a nice sit-down meal, this is the place for you. Enjoy

Yelp
In the mid-2000s, a group of community organizers began conceiving of a food hall and public market to show off CNYs hidden culinary gems. Enter the Allyn Family Foundation. Since 1954, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to build strong families and vibrant neighborhoods in Central New York, and formed a not-for-profit operating entity, the Syracuse Urban Partnership (SYRUP), to bring to life the 10 years of dreaming, planning and collaborating that became Salt City Market. Salt City Market has several different restaurants, along with a bar, and co-op grocery store. The restaurants range from meal food to dessert to juice, and have a range of culinary styles. I've eaten at several restaurants at SCM and everything has been delicious. I've yet to be disappointed with anything I've gotten. Small free parking in front but plenty of on street parking being downtown. Inside is modernly designed and decorated, plenty of seating to eat your choice of meals and hang out. Prices vary at every restaurant but are pretty comparable to other restaurants. My favorites have been SOULutions and the cake from Cake Bar is amazing. I'd recommend heading down and giving every place a try.

Yelp
I came to Syracuse with my husband and baby to visit family. We usually travel with his parents, so we had no idea this place existed the past few times we were in the area. We decided to deviate from the path mirar taken and we're so glad we did! This was easily the best food we've had in this area. There are so many choices and the atmosphere is modern and relaxed. We're definitely coming back to try more of its delicious offerings.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place that we stopped at while traveling from Boston across upstate ny. The food choices are great and the food court is best described as authentic but trendy international food. However, be warned the area, especially in the back is very rough. Do not park across the street. Park in the parking lot or in the front. Regardless, be aware of where you are. This is clearly a step in urban revitalization but the rough parts are still there. If you are from Boston it's a little like mass and cass across the street.
google avatar

Yelp
I ate at Baghdad Restaurant (reviewed separately). It was great! That aside, I can't wait to come back and try the other places here! This is an open, light, airy spot full of multi-cultural food offerings. Lots of seating and space, big windows, a nice outdoor courtyard. Easy to access, they have their own parking lot, but there is also parking across the street. Aside from the middle eastern restaurant I tried, there is a Thai restaurant, a couple soul food/southern cuisine spots, as well as a Burmese restaurant. There is also a Jamaican restaurant, Vietnamese, and places for sweet and savory pies. There's a spot for juices and one for cakes and sweets. There is a co-op open to the public as well. There isn't a place here I wouldn't try and can't wait to sample them all!
google avatar

Caroline J.

Yelp
Great food court located right in downtown Syracuse. Have only been once but love all the different food stands. Great variety and selection of places to grab food with unique and varied menus. There is even a bar as well as plenty of tables. Can't wait to go back and try more delicious food here.
google avatar

Mo R.

Yelp
We checked out the Sunday art market and then got lunch at Soulutions... what a hidden gem! We tried the ribs, maccaroni, yams, Utica greens and corn bread and everything was perfect! You can get the hot sauce on the side if you don't want it too spicy. We might have found our new favorite ribs?
google avatar

Chardae J.

Yelp
This place was like food heaven. I'm a sucker for a good food hall. There were so many varieties of food that it was almost overwhelming. I tried food from a few of the places. The outdoor seating was also my fav. I love that the vendors change here as that's super cool. If you have a chance to, look up how this place got started. It's an awesome story.
google avatar

Alvina C.

Yelp
If there is one thing I love when I travel around...it's to go to food halls! They tend to have a nice variety of local eats, fun decor, and be lively. I visited recently and although it's not as lively as it possible could have been (it was a Saturday late afternoon between lunch/dinner) it was pretty solid. The university wasn't in session so that probably adds to there not being many folks out. I tried Baghdad Restaurant and Cake Bar! Both were pretty good! Will review my experiences on their individual pages. Not all vendors are open everyday so be sure to check the market's website. They also have lots of community events throughout the week listed. The market had a nice flow in general and loved all the natural lighting from the huge windows. Lots of seating which included hi-top tables, regular tables, and some random bench/bleacher like seating. They have a bar and grocery store/market I perused through as well. Will definitely be back to check out the other vendors!

Yelp
What a neat shared community space! I came across this spot on a recent trip to Syracuse and it was such a find I came back during my travels the next week! Salt city market is a food hall and public market with a full service bar for adult beverages. It is very big inside with tons of seating inside and outside. It felt very open, airy and Scandinavian in decor. There was a cuisine for every taste including Middle Eastern, Burmese, Jamaican, Thai, Vietnamese, Soul Food, pies, cakes and juices. They also serve coffee in the morning in the bar area. At one end they also had a really cute co-op market with a nice variety of higher end staples and convenience foods. A great place for a quick bite, meet with friends or take a meeting.
google avatar

Kat W.

Yelp
Great new addition to Syracuse. Heard this was a new place that opened up. There is nice outdoor seating/chairs available as well as indoor. Comprised of several different food stands (featuring food from all over), I was impressed by the different options there were here. I tried the beef platter from Baghdad and the chicken vermicelli noodles from the Burmese restaurant. The beef platter was 5/5 (make sure to ask for pita instead of a regular sub roll), with accompanying salad. The chicken vermicelli noodles were good, but I felt like it was something I could easily make at home ingredient wise. Fun area that I wouldn't mind coming back to!

Yelp
Super spot with a wide variety of food choices. Clean space and a lot a very nice service professionals!

Yelp
What a gem! I was attracted to this venture based on information from their website : In the mid-2000s, a group of community organizers began conceiving of a food hall and public market to show off our hidden culinary gems. Taking inspiration from places like Westside Bazaar in Buffalo, La Cocina in San Francisco and (above all) the vaunted Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis. A space for Syracuse to show itself off in all of its culture, glory, richness and grit. A space for people to build generational wealth doing what they love. A space where everyone feels a sense of belonging, ownership and civic pride." This place is a must visit if you are in Syracuse or a must drive and check out if you are anywhere within an hour or two drive. We ventured over from Rochester and were not disappointed Amazing food from all corners of the globe in a funky modern space. It looks like there will be a great outdoor seating area once the weather warms up. They are limiting Covid capacity so you may have to wait a bit to get it but definitely worth it

Nicole D.

Yelp
Love trying all the different vendors and having authentic foods! Can't wait to go back and sit outside this summer!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to participate in a virtual event a few weeks ago and today had the chance to experience the market in person. Let me start by saying every city should have one of these in their downtown. Syracuse you are blessed indeed. Found nearby parking on the street and because it was Sunday there was no charge. My boyfriend commented about how the street parking looked busy. We walked into the market and immediately felt the cool vibe of people finding just the right bite for lunch. They were smiling and happy to see other humans or at least I was due to limited outings because of the pandemic. Yes, I'm personally craving the energy of being around others and doing so socially distanced safely. This was the right place! The market was clean, bright and sunny on this beautiful day. Lots of dining options and the variety of food we chose was delicious and portions were generous. We tried two different dishes at Miss Prissys. He had granny's plate which was a half chicken with two sides. He stated the best chicken he's ever eaten. I had Nile's special which is only available on Sunday. Curried sweet potatoes over white rice. Yummy and a bit sweet for this savory food lover but I ate it all. We couldn't resist Pies the Limit where I got a slice of their vegan mushroom shepherds pie and for dessert their vegan mixed berries pie topped with oats. Both very generous slices and delicious. We ate our meal at the Salt City bar where Fiona whipped up a cinnamon infused Old Fashioned for him and a mimosa for me. He loved the cinnamon bitters and adding them to his shopping list. Fiona was amazing and we appreciated her input about the market. Before we left we walked to the other side and got two lattes for our road trip back home to Ithaca. An incredible day trip well worth the adventure and we left satisfied. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
There are so many great restaurants to choose from with lots of space to sit with friends. I have been twice and enjoyed it both times. Easy walk to the Civic Center for a show!
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
I love a well run cafeteria style eatery and this space is fantastic. There are many options from which to choose. We stopped by here on two different days. Miss Prissy's southern cuisine is delicious. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Everything we had from there was great. They were out of most of the main items on their menu, but what we desired was there! Solutions', Berbere chicken was way too dry, but their greens were everything greens ought to be; same goes for their yams and cornbread. The fried rice from Big in Burma was so delicious and it reminded me of the rice I had when I went to Vietnam, and only a few time in the USA. I was very happy to savor such good food again. I ordered two Rasta Pastas from Erma's Island to go, and have not tried them yet. We did have their homemade sorrel! So yummy - so healing. We look forward to digging in tomorrow. I only have photos for two of our dishes.

Yelp
Very cool place that we visited at the recommendation of a friend. Incredibly diverse array of restaurants inside and a nice outdoor seating area so we could sit and eat with our pup by our side. Food was great, we ordered from Firecracker Thai Kitchen and Big In Burma. Highly recommend!

Yelp
First know there is a parking lot behind the building- I parked on street and it was rough. Second, this review is as a vegetarian at dinner. I struggled- even most of the Asian restaurants are meat almost exclusively. I started with falafel from Baghdad's. Terrible. Nice crust but totally mushy and NO seasoning. Thick pasty sauce only garlic. After 1/5 i threw it out. Given that experience I didn't try anything else there. I had Fire mac n cheese at another place- good but not great- had to hold the chicken skin on top so ymmv. I won't be bad, which is sad. For the price much better ethnic meals on Erie blvd.

Yelp
I won a contest to get food from SOULutions Catering at Salt City Market. The food was incredible! I am very fussy about ribs and these were delicious. They fell off the bone and had tons of flavor. This was my 1st time trying catfish. It was so good. Very crispy and light. The greens and cornbread were amazing. Fire mac was too spicy for me, but my son devoured it. I'm very excited for Salt City Market to open to be able to go back to SOULutions Catering and try the other food options!
google avatar

Asher H.

Yelp
I try to eventually get around to reviewing most restaurants I eat at but what I find most fulfilling, is to write about places that aren't in super popular locations or don't have tons of reviews. Imagine my surprise when I set about writing my review of this wonderful market and noticed that it had a whopping 50 reviews! What a travesty. I know its located in Syracuse, but come on now! The highlight for me here was definitely Baghdad. We ordered the Chicken Burek appetizers and the Beef/Chicken Shawarma sandwiches and everything was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and stuffed with meat (that's what she said) we had to go back and order another sandwich for the road. On our way out we ordered Taro Bubble Tea from Cake Bar, and I don't know if the lady at the counter was feeling the Bubble Tea magic that day, but it was among the best I've ever had.

Yelp
A great new spot in downtown to try a variety of different cuisine from local small businesses or relax with coffee, tea, or a drink in their many unique seating areas. Once COVID is over I can imagine this place being an awesome place to study and chill with a coffee and pastry. Gluten free options are severely limited here unless you're ok with a $12 salad.
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
Thank you so much for today. I wanted to buy ham to make a sandwich for my husband and Salt City Market had not only amazing food stalls but has a fresh market where you can buy fresh fruits and veggies to make your own food. But who would want that when the food stalls offer a variety of freshly made eats from Baghdad gyros, Burmese cuisine, Vietnam cuisine, Jamaican cuisine, Cakes, freshly squeezed juices. Amaziiing!
google avatar

Yelp
Salt City Market is a fun new indoor food court in downtown Syracuse with tons of food options. Food varieties include a healthy co-op supermarket, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, smoothie bar, soul food, etc. There are tons of seating options spread out throughout the place. Great pick for a group of friends as everyone can eat and try a different cuisine and sit together.
