Yelp
A first-time customer trying something new on a Thursday at 11. We have been around the area a few times, but the parking has made us second-guess going in. We found parking today and decided to try this restaurant out since we had heard good things from friends. Walked in and were told there was a wait time of thirty minutes, so we decided to wait and look around. There is more parking in the lot that you can pay for and have it validated inside. We did not test this, however, since there was parking open on the other side of the building. By the time we were told we had a table, it was around 40 minutes (keep in mind there were many tables open when we were told there was a wait), we overheard some people as they left, saying they had waited 40 min to an hour or saying that it was hours out of their day as they left. That being said, here is the review:
Service: Greeter wasn't very nice however, the server was very friendly. We got our drinks relatively quickly, but since it wasn't our waitress handing out the drinks, we were done with our drinks before we could order anything. It took around a half hour from ordering to get our food and 15 minutes between getting our drinks and getting to order food. Unsure if this is a lack of staff issue or a lack of kitchen issue. We saw four servers bussing one table and at the time of our food there was only one other couple waiting to be served.
Food/drink: Water from the pitcher wasn't that great. The Salt and Honey latte was very good and not too sweet and had just the right amount of cinnamon. I was surprised at the strawberry matcha having dried strawberry on top but it smelled very nice and provided a nice flavor without overpowering the matcha. The matcha was a bit powdery but that's being picky for a matcha lover. Food was very good. The tacos borrachos had a good flavor, however, my dining partner said it didn't have any spice and only a mild lime and chile flavor. We recommend asking for more lime. They do not come apart easily since the hashbrowns had made the tacos hard to separate. The Cubano sandwich was very good, however, the one modification we asked for was no mustard and they brought it with lots of mustard. When it was sent back, it was obviously just scraped off and still in the bread, but it wasn't overwhelming enough not to eat the sandwich. A very nice flavor of meat with a soft bolillo bread. The fries were crisp but had enough potato to give a nice flavor and consistency.
Ambiance: Music was pretty loud but enjoyable. Had to speak a bit loudly to hear each other. We saw a few patrons leaving with their dog and one person sat down with their dog, so I believe they are pet friendly, at least with outside dining. Plants were cute and the outside air was nice. Table was very wobbly.
Price: A little on the pricier side. They also have a 3% charge they add to every ticket. The waitress said they take it off the bill if you pay with cash, however, this was not upfront as a card charge, and it's already added into the total. I would be aware of exactly how much you pay and how much you are getting back if you do pay with cash.
Misc: I recommend asking for the bathroom code before eating. The bathroom is in the front right outside the main restaurant area. Unfortunately, the fire alarm went off in the restaurant as we were leaving before we could check it out. Unsure if they have reservations, but unless you have a 2 hour window for lunch, I would recommend somewhere else. This time was with two people on a Thursday, so I imagine it would be more for a larger group on a busier day of the week. The food was great so if you don't mind the wait, this place might be great for you. Some people were a bit more dressed up, so it might be a nice date spot or business place if there is enough space and time available.
