Minimalist quarters with free Wi-Fi in a stylish inn offering a wraparound balcony. On a residential street, this chic inn is an 8-minute walk from the Provincetown Museum and Pilgrim Monument, and a mile from swimming and paddleboarding at Long Point Beach. Provincetown ferry port is less than a mile away. Quirky, minimalist rooms include free Wi-Fi, cable TV and designer toiletries, plus minifridges; some have private bathrooms or sitting areas. A luxurious loft room with exposed beams adds a claw-foot tub. Children age 16 and over are welcome. Parking is complimentary. Breakfast (with cocktail options) is served in a hip dining room or in a lush backyard (fee). There's a wraparound balcony. Alcoholic drinks are available (fee).
"The Salt House Inn is set just close enough to Provincetown’s main drag to feel lively, and just far enough away for a bit of privacy. In other words, it’s a study in balance: stylish enough for design-savvy travelers, without losing touch with its circa-1850 heritage." - Mitchell Friedman

"What I wanted: the un-B&B B&B—a hotel both spotless and modern, a hotel where it didn’t feel like an innkeeper was watching my every coming and going. And at the 15-room Salt House Inn, I found it. Classically New England on the outside (the cedar-shingled, immaculately restored nineteenth-century building once housed salt miners: hence the name), it has a crisp, sunlit, minimalist interior that’s largely whitewashed walls, shiplap paneling, and hardwood floors—no fusty flourishes in sight. Although the Salt House is only a five-minute walk from Commercial Street (Provincetown’s main drag) and just a short stroll from the ocean, it’s easy to lounge around here for hours—not least because of the delicious breakfast, which when I was there included homemade pastries, lox, and fresh-squeezed juices. Sip a cup of coffee on the upstairs sun terrace while breathing in the fresh sea air and you won’t be able to stop yourself from booking an extra night. –Jody Quon"
